A friend of mine recently convinced me and my sig other to try Pathfinder. Much to our First Edition surprise, we liked it!
Are there any gamers in the Northern Virginia area? We are looking for a mature group, having played AD&D since it was first released til WotC took over the franchise. We both have DMed and I have experience with GDW products, done promotions at the conventions, etc. For me, telling a good story is key and more important that min maxing, munchkinism, or abusing the dice.
We would like to play in a low level campaign that has the original flavor of AD&D so we can learn the rules.

I'm in Arlington, but it's been a long time since I've played in an in-person game. I mostly get my fix by playing in the play-by-post (pbp) games here at Paizo.

Welcome! Already have a full plate, but I remember some other folks have posted about Pathfinder in the Northern VA/DC/MD area. I work in Alexandria, but I seem to recall that someone else on the forums had mentioned they lived around here.

There is a game store with a number of large tables in Woodbridge, near Potomac Mills. I think that would be a good place to start. Time would be determined by mutual consent, likely to be the weekends.
If I may be so bold, I would suggest putting together a Pathfinder Society group. Each of those scenarios is mean to be a single session one-shot of about four hours. That way, when you put a group together, whoever can make it for a particular session is in, and you don't have to worrying about subbing PCs out mid-adventure. Then, you can just schedule each session without having to worry so much about who can or can't make it, and you could even take turns DMing.
With that kind of setup, someone like me, with a hectic schedule, would be able to consider sitting in once in a while, without having to figure out how to make a regular game. It would also be interesting, I would think, to have a big cast of characters with different groups each time.

An interesting concept . . . .I need to roll that over in my mind. I have to admit that I can be proprietary about my charcters but I understand the utility, symmetry, and synergy of a matched set of characters.
Hey, Jeff! I thought you'd pop up. I'm doing well, although I was off the boards for a bit. I checked your board a while back and it looked like no one had been on in a while, but I'm glad to hear you still have a game going. Have you guys tried any more with the online stuff?
Nah the online thing broke down, I figured it would be easier to get people to attend if they could do it from their own homes but alas my group has a very low attention span. I currently have a google wave going also that is working pretty well though.

Google wave is a cross between email and instant messanger. IT is great real time collabartion tool and free. It seems to work really well for online games. It is a much better format than play by forum or play by email, though it takes a little to get a good feel for how to use it.

Thats the name of the game store I was thinking of . . .I remember when they had one store in Fairfax. I used to buy some Ral Partha figs there.
I would also suggest the stictly pluetonic section of craigslist. I have had some good(slow but good) responses from there.
If anybodys down in the norfolk/williamsburg section and looking for group we can make room.
We have 4 regular players so 1 or 2 more to freshen up the group would be nice. Especially if you enjoy playing fighters or theives. Generally the first one to die gets stuck playing the non-spellcaster class, we all start out as wiz/cleric/psion/warlock something or others.
If you actually enjoy being a non-caster we could use you.

Thats is an idea . . . .I think I will try Activities to start though. The Platonic section seems less than platonic. ;)
If I were a few hundered miles closer, no problem. I actually like to play skill-based rogues. I've been accused of being both crafty and a rogue, but never in the same sentence.
I'm in the Woodbridge area and looking for a Pathfinder game to jump into as well. I've played rpg's for several years, including all versions of D&D up to 3.5, but had taken a break for a short while. I recently came across Pathfinder and realized it was D&D under a different title and was intrigued. It seems to be better thought out than 3.5 and I've decided to give it a try.
If anyone is running a game in the NoVa area I'd be interested in jumping in. I prefer home campaigns over mods and appreciate a game with a good storyline, strong rp, intrigue, puzzle-solving, combat, and atmosphere. I don't mind driving so it doesn't have to be in Woodbridge and time is flexible for the time being but Tuesdays or Sunday evenings would probably work best for me.
If you feel like dragging yourselves out to the 'burbs, we can probably find room for you.
