I'm starting to look for a new group to game with for the new year (my old one slowly dissolved). Any groups in the Rochester area looking for a player? I'm 27, and generally not into munchkinry... looking for a like-minded group.

Hey... Good gaming groups in NY are hard to find... I live about 3 hours SE of you, near Binghamton NY.. It's difficult here.. My group is decent, but they tend toward the powergamer side. I feel for you man. The way I found mine was via the owner of a local comic/gaming shop, I told him I was looking for some players and he hooked me up. Of course, I asked him to be careful and not recommend the more flaky dudes out there.. It can be very hard to find a group to gel with. Happy hunting.

I haven't found that gamers are hard to find, there are 6 LGSs in the area (there were 7 a few months ago). If you're willing to go to Millennium you can probably find a group there.

I would invite you to join my current group, especially since we just lost a player (even if he left an opening to return)...

I would, except I'm not sure if 4.0 is going to tear us apart yet. You probably don't want to jump into a group that's having some "issues" currently. The core of the group has been together since 3.0 first hit (technically before that, but that's only 2 of us now), I think this is just bringing the "issues" to a head.

That and, well, my players generally *are* into "munchkinry"...

Silver Crusade (Pathfinder Adventure Path Subscriber)

I found a group, and they ARE pretty munchkiny... In my first session, I was seriously underpowered compared to what the rest of the group was doing. So now I'm upping my game a little bit, and letting my inner munchkin out so I can keep up.

I'm still receptive to game offers, though.

(Owner - Dragon Snack Games)

Well, I'm sure you could keep up, I guess my players aren't that munchkiny. They have their flashes of it though (but then I *am* a Killer DM).

If you are still interested, I'll ask my players about it this Sunday. Since the other player had left an opening to return we had really only asked one other person (that 2 of us had gamed with previously).

We meet at my house in Henrietta (I have a German Shepard) every other Sunday from 4-10ish. 12th level, Forgotten Realms, 32 point buy (we do set HPs too).

There's about a dozen of use 2 hours east of you in the Utica area. I feel for you, it took me forever to find a decent group.

You're group sounds like a good one, but Sundays aren't good for me. (Sundays and Wednesdays are the days that are both out.)

I'll let you know how this next session turns out, now that I've rolled up my sleeves and twinked out a character.

Find several NY groups at PENandPAPERgames.com

So, my last group was all well and good for a while, until it fell apart sometime late last summer/early fall, and I'm looking for a group yet again.

Since it's been a while... Anyone out there around Rochester? 4e would be my first choice, but I am edition-flexible.

Would you consider GMing?

I have an open mind toward 4e, but I've been GMing Pathfinder RPG online. I don't think I have time for another GMing gig, but an occasional face-to-face game might be a lot of fun.

Que?

Well, I did find another game that I started in July, I think, and as far as I know the DM isn't looking for more players, although the way these things go, you never know what is going to happen. I will post here if something opens up.

If I had more time (and wasn't in a group), the DMing suggestion might be tempting, even though it's been about 15 years...

Edit: Interestingly, the game I found was via the PenandPapergames link that was posted upthread.

I'll be starting a Pathfinder game in October in Auburn (about 1 to 1 1/2 hours from you, depending on WHERE in Rochester you are) It'll be Saturday afternoons at the FLGS (Back of the Closet Games)

I am not on here very often....We dont really have a gaming store (that I know of) in Elmira BUT you can game here at my house. I have several people who would probably play, we need a couple more players and possibly a GM...I can GM if I must but would rather play. If anyone else reads this thread...I am in Elmira/Corning area - If you want top play Pathfinder email me nilefire@hotmail.com -Thank u

I'm in a place called Mechanicville, roughly between Albany and Troy, if there's anyone who thinks that's a workable distance.

Fatespinner,
As luck would have it I recently was offered a job in Clifton Park (eventually moving to Latham) so I'll be moving back down to that area in June. If you have room for another player I would be interested in joining. I have been reading D&D material for about 15 years but have very little experience playing or DMing (thanks to growing up in the Adirondacks). I have the core rulebooks for AD&D, 3.0, 3.5 and Pathfinder. If you could send me an email ewhitefield_82 at yahoo or just respond to me on this post that would be great.
Thanks,
Evan
