I am hoping for a magic item; Spit of Demon Prince Turning; bypasses all that Toughness and does 1 wound each magic phase; stick that great unclean one on there and turn baby turn. Really; I cant tell which is a bigger pain, Nurgles boy or Khorne's; both are maybe just a step over the other two; but sheesh; Khorne's boy wouldnt be half as much trouble if we could have some item to stop flying; that would make him much more reasonable; sheesh; 20" charge and a bazillion attacks.

Looks like i gotta put my 13th Company army on ebay since they're now defunct in the new edition.. also, Space Wolves are next for an update in october..

Anyone but me notice that the ship in SG universe is a Necron Tombship from warhammer BFG?

As we all know Space Wolves are already out, and Skaven are just around the corner.

I got a good look what the Skaven will be getting. First off we have the return of the Verminlord and the Doom Wheel. The Doom Wheel is a plastic kit, and it looks awesome! I am sure there are alot of Skaven players who will be chittering about that one.

Plus they got new war machines like the Warpstone Catapult, and the Doom Censor. New Skaven Magic from the Domains of Ruin or Plague. As well as the 13th Spell. Casting roll of a 25+, if successful the whole enemy unit is destroyed and replaced by that many rats it the skaven player has that many models!

They also redid the Life is Cheap, and Strength in Numbers Special Rules. Looks like the forces of the Underempire are going to be a force to be reckoned with.

I reckon I can still serve up Rat K Bob's at will regardless, just more blood for the blood gaud.

Today I'm thinking Inquisition.

Sisters of Battle, Grey Knights, Imperial meatshields... It all sounds good.

All I need is 3 new codexes and lots of minis. ;)

Qadira (Pathfinder Superscriber)

Am I correct in assuming that most Grey Knights and Sisters of Battle units all use the same miniatures with different special weapon options?

Well you can download the new FAQ which makes the lists playable. The only miniatures that cross over are allied guard units, Inquisitors, some of the henchmen and assassins. If you take regular marines then you can't field any Grey Knights.

Really?

I found an article on using allies that said if Space marines were your base army you could include Sisters of Battle and/or Grey Knights, but couldn't add space marines to an army that had either as a base...

If you take them as allies. 1 HQ, 1 Elite, 2 Troop, 1 Fast can be added into the parent armylist after you fill out your required force org spots. If you are grabbing allies from both Inquisitoral lists to add to the parent list its generally frowned upon unless you are playing a Apocalypse type game; have it part of a prearranged scenario' or playing in an Ard Boyz tourney.

Right now I am thinking about making a Sisters of Battle army with inducted Imperial Guard units, but this might change when I get my hands on some codexes...

That can make for a solid list exspecially if your backed up by Exorcists. Just don't buy the Penitent Engine models. They are absolutely horrible.

I think it looks cool enough to buy one just to have.

Any suggestions on what to buy to start my list with?

As far as a Sisters force. You can't go wrong having Exorcists. They are brutal against MEQ armies.

Basic Sister Squads are always a good buy. Seraphim are nice as well. Heroine is a solid HQ choice. Your army lives and dies by its faith. So make sure you build up your faith points.

I have seen Death Cult Assassins when bought as all of your Elite Choices used to great effect. Otherwise they die horribly.

Otherwise I would take Inquistors. I know in the FW book they can take Valkyries as transports. You might want to double check the FAQ's to make sure you still can.

I play against Sisters, and those are the units that stick out in my mind. Hopefully a Sisters player can give you better advice on units.

Hope that helps.

Hey everybody. I had bought a packaged deal of games on Steam a while back, and it included the DoW games. I've enjoyed playing the Tau and the whole setting in general. I was thinking about getting into the tabletop game, or at least reading the rules. I was at the GW site ogling the units and was taken aback by the price of the core rule book. Is it really worth spending $60 on a single book? Seems kinda ridiculous to me; the WoD books are really nice books and they cost half that. Any idea why it's so incredibly expensive? (This is asked with full understanding that the entire hobby can be a money pit if you really get into it)

I have been wondering that for decades; GW is a strange lot; take old Balfic there; bought all the books for the Battlefleet Gothic at 60 bucks a pop; then a couple years later; GW goes and puts them all as free pdf downloads. Go figure; hard to know where to spend your money.

If you aren't in a hurry to get on you could probably find a copy online for about half the price.

I think I got mine for about $25 shipped last year when they were $50.

Don't forget, you will also need a copy of the codex for your army.

There is also a pocket sized rule book that is included with the Assault on Black Reach intro box that can be found on ebay for $10-$20, but it only has the rules and none of the art work or pictures the hardcover has.

I play High Elves for Warhammer. Been doing it for a few years now. I need to find some steam punk stuff. -.-

You want Warmachine:

Privateer Press.

I have a 40K necron army, probably 1000 points, and I spent about half as much as my friend who plays Tau did. Much entertainment ensued when he figured this out.
I'm considering starting a fantasy army, maybe the skaven.

Skaven are a good army. They are highly competitive and have lots of beautiful miniatures for modeling options. Be prepared to spend some cash though. They are a horde army so you will need alot of box sets if you want to play a decent sized game. But the new plastics for the Doom Wheel, and the Screaming Bell are simply amazing.

As for your Necrons keep buying the models while the list is still unpopular. Once rumors of the new codex becomes more substantial except the prices to jump.

One thing to rememeber; Skaven takes a lot of models and can get to be quite a monitary drain and like the Empire have lots of versitility due to number of units available so if you can outguess your opponent you will do well and table placement is everything.

I decided to go for it and start up an army to play with some friends.
1) Anybody know of places to watch/play in NH?
2) I'm going with Vampire Counts, and am thinking of doing a vampire lord general focused on crushing other characters, specifically in challenges. Anybody know if this is a viable strategy before I start to blow cash on a bunch of models?

Vampire Counts are a extremely powerful army. Overall I believe they are ranked second in tournaments. Your tactic is valid, but becareful. There are a few armies that can easily match you in hand to hand ability. Warriors, of Chaos, Lizardmen, Dark Elves and Daemons of Chaos being at the top of the list. If your General is killed your army starts to crumble. The greatest weapon your army has is psychology. Fear and Terror can ruin alot of armies. Routing them before they even had a chance to really get started. Its also important for you to control the magic phase. Undead armies can wither away quickly if they can't replenish there losses by raising the dead.

As far as places to play in NH. Buy a copy of White Dwarf it has a list of stores in the area who support the hobby. Along with all there contact information.

*Dusts off thread* Anyone check out the new Necron book?

I've had a chance to glance over it. Looks to be a very solid book. There seems to be a good variety of build options. Definately alot more shooty than they use to be. Like the rewrite of there fluff too. Gives them alot more depth and personality.

Still haven't had a chance to see the new lists/units perform on the table top yet. Though the Necron players I know are all happy with the book so far.

I haven't read the book yet, but I have seen pictures of the minis. They are beautiful in their cyborg undead way.

More shooty huh? That's pretty cool, I thought they were a little too space marineish in their last rendition. Of course I haven't played since third edition, so I have no idea how true that even is anymore.
