It does have separate stats for all the daemons however you may not use the two codex's together except In apocalypse games.

As far as I know, the stats in the chaos daemons book can't be used with the chaos space marines army - they get a generic statline for summoned daemons, and that's it. That's one of the things that put me off doing a 40k chaos army. I may be wrong though - I'm not an expert on the 40k rules unfortunately. :(

As far as the new Chaos Codex. I hate it. Generally the list is winable. But fluffwise its not chaos.
Yep what killed Chaos for me so I went Dark ELdar instead.
Dark Eldar should have a new codex in 2010. Jes Goodwin and Phil Kelly have been working on them.
It's about time!

Well, I gave in and bought a tyranid battleforce. Lots and lots of lovely sprues! :D Just need to figure out what weapons and biomorphs to give them before I start assembling.
Anyone got any advice for building/playing with a melee-heavy tyranid army?

Tyranids sound fun...
I'm looking at either Tyranids, Eldar, or Imperial Guard for a second army to force my brothers to play against me. :)

Can't tell you what biomorphs to pick. Never played a Nids army. Playing against them I can tell you hormagaunts are a solid buy. Regular gaunts are a waste except as a unit screen.

I would reccommend either the Eldar, or the IG army. Eldar was already released for 5th ed, and IG will be out at the beginning of may. If you love tanks, IG are getting several new units, and Leman Russ variants. The Manticore, return or the Griffon, Deathstrike, Devil Dog just to name a few. They are also getting a flyer; The Vakyrie.

Interestingly, the current trend on 40k forums seems to be to avoid hormagaunts as they're apparently not as valuable for points. I think I'm inclined to at least try using hormie broods though, as I like the way they look. As far as regular gaunts go, I was thinking of making them super-cheap spinegaunts and as you say, using them to shield other units so that they can make it across the board.
I'm struggling to decide what to do with my carnifex and my (new present! :D) hive tyrant. I may try to magnetise the 'fex as per this guide if I'm feeling brave once I reach him in the modelling queue. It's a rather cool idea. :D

When I was at the Eye of Terror event a couple years ago at my FLGS, there was a guy there that used this method on all of his Dreadnoughts. They are a little bigger than what the guy in the article is dealing with though. I don't recall him having to use green stuff to cover anything up. Anyway, he said that he was able to pick up the rare earth magnets from Home Depot and he just used a large bit on a pin vice for making the holes.

I think that it would be cool to have an apocolypse sized army, but so far my collection has only increased by a crisis battlesuit and a carnifex which doesn't really help me get to 3000 points. Maybe some Imperial Guard will mysteriously end up in my collection in May... probably around the same time some money mysteriously disappears from my bank account.
Though Eldar look cool too... they may appear in addition to a smaller IG force or instead of one. :D

Apocalypse games are alot of fun, and are a very different feel from a standard game. As long as the sides are balanced. One side with a titan or super heavy against one without anything to compare makes for a poor game.
The Tyranids do have some of the coolest looking models for Apocalyse. I know a plastic Trygon should be out sometime soon.

Yeah you have quite a bit. They are all flyers though. The Manta being the biggest. Its also the most expensive model Forge World/GW has. You also have the Barracuda, and a couple of different versions of the Tiger Shark. I forget which White Dwarf its in, but they released rules for a Tau Defense Node. Its basically a larger sized Rail Cannon with an engery field. If I can find which issue the data fax was in, I will post it.
They also have couple other models to expand your regular army as well. The deadliest of which are the Remora Drone Fighters. I have gone against them a few times and they are always a pain in my side.

Wow, that's awesome! I bought him when he came out but never did anything with him because i figured there were no official stats. Do you know where I can find them? Also, I have to say that you've been on the ball with people's various questions, this thread probably would have died off without you. Thanks!

Thanks! I appreciate that. Best book for anyone to buy regarding Forge World models is "Imperial Armour Apocalyse". It covers the majority of data faxes for all the Super Heavys, Titans, Flyers, and Gargantuan Creatures up to Siege of Vraks 1. The rules and point costs were adjusted in this book for the Apocalyse expansion, and has its own special formations.

So all my cool big models are the Forge World stuff that you can't get without spending an arm and a leg and wait a month for it to ship to you... yay.
Unless...Anyone know where I can get Forge World stuff at a discount?
Or atleast the books?

The Tau Area Denial Node is in WD 335. There is no model for it, so you can build your own. Using the Railgun parts from the Hammerhead model, and some creative use of modeling supplies.

Eldar, Orks, Space Marines, Dark Angels, Black Templars, Blood Angels, Chaos Space Marines, Daemons, and soon Imperial Guard are all 5th ed. Granted some of these armies already need to be rewritten. Blood Angels and Dark Angels have horrible Codex's; and the Chaos Marine one while competitive in my opinion is not Chaos. The fluff and rules are bland.

I tried to play Fantasy for a while, even going as far as building a modest dwarven army. I *loved* the minis, the art, and the flavor. In the end the rules were just too poorly organized and presented...the 7th edition (!) rulebook read like what I would expect in a first edition. Lots of terms not formally defined (or at least nor defined until well after they crop up). Related information scattered throught the book and presented in various contexts.
This isn't a criticsm of folks who dig Warhammer Fantasy...it just wasn't the game for me.

If you still have your Dwarves, try and find a copy of the rulebook out of the blackfire pass box. The table on contents in the back is much better organized than the main rulebook and costs 1/4 the price.

Sorry to hear that you are doing that. As far as auctioning armies, Sisters, and Daemon Hunters will sell poorly since they are still with 4th ed rules. Armies usually sell higher when there new codex is released. You would do better selling rare collectable mini's, or even doing conversion work raises the value considerably. Link your auctioned sales through painting/sculpting sites that feature warhammer stuff. That way you can target the collectors out there.

As part of my 'evil' master plan to field an Apocalypse army and own two armies I have decided that I don't know how to count and want to get some Imperial Guard and Eldar minis, but since the Imperial Guard codex isn't out yet I want to start looking at some Eldar first.
What do you think are the best Eldar units? What really works well and what kinda sucks? Are there any that would work better at the Apocalypse level with the Tau? If I could find one of the older box dela things are any of them better to get?
My collection thanks you in advance, but my wallet may be coming to kill you in your sleep ;)

Okay my reccommendation is to first get the main Apocalypse book, Apocalypse Reload, and Imperial Armour Apocalypse. As well as go the the GW site and download the free pdf data sheet formations. Building formations will give you special abilities. Take a look at which formations best compliment your play style. Some of these formations are really expensive money wise to put together. One example is there is a datafax with the Chaos Primarch Angron for the Daemon army. He can take a Bodyguard of up to 8 Blood Thirsters. Thats over $400 in Greater Daemons alone!
As far as the big toys for Eldar that are solid choices. Vampire Raider, Scorpion, Void Dragon Phoenix, Cobra, and the Revenant Titan.
As far as base units for Apocalypse everyone dies the same, be it a Terminator or a Grot. Class D weapons destroy everything.
Are far as solid units choices for a base army. Dire Avengers, Rangers upgraded to Pathfinders, Harlequins, Howling Banshee's, Vypers, Swooping Hawks, Autarchs, War Walker Squadrons with Shuriken Cannons, Falcons, Wraithlords. Again it mostly depends on your personal play style.

Since the new Imperial Guard Codex will be out soon. I figured I would ask you all which armies do you think are the three most powerful, and the three weakest in 40k, and Warhammer Fantasy. Let the debate begin!
40k Strongest------------------40k Weakest
1) Orks------------------------1) Daemon Hunters
2) Space Marines---------------2) Dark Eldar
3) New Imperial Guard----------3) Necrons
Got to read a prerelease copy of the new codex at the LGS. I believe the new guard are going to be real tough to beat.
Warhammer Strongest-------------Warhammer Weakest
1) Brettonia--------------------1) Orcs and Goblins
2) Vampire Counts---------------2) Ogre Kingdoms
3) Daemons----------------------3) Beastmen

I don't have enough personal experience with a lot of the armies to give my opinion about this, but I'm curious, why do you have the Necrons at such a low place? I've done pretty well with mine. Of course, I've had very limited opponents, so, that could be it too...

From what I have seen with the new edition Necrons have been struggling. The ability of run rule gives everyone the ability to engage in hth combat much quicker than before. Which denys them of there major strength; shooting. Necrons are vulnerable in hth with power weapons and overall are phasing out in battles alot more overall.
Your melee units are currently underpowered compared to the new codex's. Pariahs, Wraiths, Flayed Ones need a revamp to keep them competitive. Though your Monolith really got an upgrade with 5th ed with the vehicle damage chart. It is a real monster on the battle field. Unfortunately it doesn't count for your phase out tests.

I'm just looking into getting into warhamer, and while my group of players haven't officially decided what we want to do, were going to set up and do various scenerios... ideally. Anyway it's looking like fantasy right now. I'm looking at what army to go for. An important thing is to it is that I'm going on theme and look as I don't know the rules and I'd rather paint cool looking minis as opposed to just the strongest. I'm seriously leaning towards dark elves, and am contemplating starting with the battallion box and a complement of a few tougher singles and maybe a blister of witch elves. Any thoughts from any fantasy players?
