The tunnel opened out into a cavern filled with stalactites and stalagmites. By the light of my torch I spotted a creature stood upright holding a morningstar. I quickly loosed an arrow at it but failed to hit. Another creature appeared alongside the first one I spotted and they both threw javelins at me. One hit my leg, and the other my arm, but I carried on into the room, grimacing.

I struck at the first creature, but the uneven footing affected my balance and I missed. Now I was close up, I could see that these creatures were humanoids, with slightly scaled, scarred grey skin. What was most striking about them though was the complete absence of eyes or eye sockets. Blank skin stretched across the upper face, giving them the impression of wearing masks. The rest of the Knights now moved to the entrance. From the shadows a third creature struck at me, but missed. The one in toe-to-toe combat with me missed as well.

I moved and attacked, but again the uneven floor and poor lighting made my sword stab go wild. The eerie vision of them fighting without sight also affected my concentration. Alun and Tegan moved further into the room, but their already limited movement was hampered even more by the difficulty in crossing this terrain. Malakai also was hampered in his armour, and did not reach the creatures. The first creature I had spotted attacked me now, but I had regained my balance, and managed to avoid the blow. The other one facing me lunged for Malakai instead now. The Storm Knight was prepared for this though, and they started to trade blows in what looked like a war of attrition. The third threw a javelin at Tegan, but it missed her.

I moved up to the one facing Mal, and with a stab of my shortsword it dropped to the floor. Alun uttered a brief prayer and granted us all some divine protection. He then moved up to block the third humanoid, which I would later know as a Grimlock, from moving further. It struck at him, but our Shield Knight was not harmed. Tegan moved into melee with one of the blind creatures, but did not manage to hit it.

I dodged and weaved backwards and struck down the first creature that had attacked me, my blade finding its vital organs with ease. Tegan struck the last remaining creature but did not cause it to fall. Malakai now attacked it but missed. The grimlock was now desperate to withdraw, but had a final swing at Malakai, which missed. He then fled, but had not reckoned on our Shield Knight, Alundar, who intercepted it and crushed its skull with his mace.

No other creatures appeared to have been alerted to our pitched battle, and we took a breath. Able to examine them up close now, I noticed another feature of these savages. They had stones embedded into their arms as some kind of ritual or protective studding. They also had them in their foreheads too - in the shape of a star, one of the symbols of Erythnul…

We moved on, with me again taking the lead. My state of alertness was heightened now we had engaged the foe and beaten them, and I was eager to make the most of this. I moved quickly, yet silently, for I supposed that if the creatures could not see, then they would either hear or smell us – and I could not do anything about smelling like a human. Shortly thereafter I came upon a room, which was actually a ledge out to a greater cavern beyond. I could not see how far the drop was though, as my attention was occupied by a pair of smallish felines with spotted coats, accompanied by their grimlock handler, right in front of me. Thinking quickly, I ran across the room and shot an arrow at one of the felines. The beast was not lucky - my shot skewered it from throat to tail, and it dropped instantly. Then things got rather disgusting. The other feline’s skin peeled back from its face and it shrieked at me. I was unnerved by the sight and the sound, but I held my ground. It then ran up to me, still with its face pulled back down its neck. The handler had his hands free now and shot an arrow at me, but it went wild. The other Knights now came in.

I had to now move and get some space, but in doing so was getting perilously close to the edge of the ledge. Looking over the precipice, the floor of the cavern below was hidden in darkness. Not good. I took another shot then, at the second feline. My aim was again true and the arrow took the creature clean off the floor, with blood spurting out of the wound and from it's mouth. It hit the floor and lay still. The handler was now furious, and moved up close to attack me. I evaded his blow with my agile dodges, turning and ducking right at the edge of the chasm.

Malakai now moved in far enough to stand toe to toe with the handler. Unfortunately, that blocked off my escape route and I could only stand at the edge and swing my sword. Without my ability to lunge, feint and misdirect with my movements, I missed with a simple jab to the chest. Alun and Tegan then moved in behind Malakai. The handler must have sensed then that his days were numbered without trying something different. So he risked everything and lunged at me, trying to shove me over the edge. My surprise was equalled only by my inaction as he pushed at me with his shoulder. I teetered on the edge of the cliff, arms like windmills, trying to regain my balance. Unfortunately, his momentum was too much, and I was knocked off the ledge and into the main cavern below. I fell, twisting, into the darkness.

That hurt.

I had managed to reach out to the side of the cliff as I fell, and this enabled me to slow my fall to some extent. However, nothing could stop Oerth’s pull, and although I hit the floor with my feet first, and I tumbled to reduce the impact, my body was flattened against the floor like some discarded rag doll. I heard a crack as a rib broke, and as my left shoulder slammed into a rock which lay on the floor, I felt the bone in my upper arm pull out of its socket. Luckily though, I had the presence of mind to put my hands about my head so I managed to avoid being knocked unconscious by the fall, but the pain was driving me senseless in any case. As I lay still, breathing shallowly to avoid my broken rib from causing too much pain, I concentrated on regaining my composure and wondered if I could still walk. Slowly sitting upright, I remembered that I had a potion of healing in my backpack. Please let it have survived the fall! Looking in, I saw that it was intact, and I knocked it back in a single draught. Immediately, the pain in my shoulder waned, and my ribs ceased their aching. Gingerly standing up, I reckoned that I was fit to continue. Now, where were the other Knights?

From hearing the shouts and clangs of weapons on armour from above, I could hear that my fellow Knights were acquitting themselves well against the handler. Then it all went quiet. "I'm ok, bring my bow down" I shouted up to the figures leaning over the edge to look down. I then took a look around me. Before I could get my bearings, from out of the darkness came two arrows - one skittered off a nearby stalagmite, but the other caught me in the thigh, causing me to grimace and shout out "I'm being shot at – from across the chasm!" I moved into a tunnel underneath the ledge of my attackers, while they shouted in Undercommon "One is getting away!"

Meanwhile Alun started climbing down the pitons hammered into the wall that I noticed as I fell past, but was not in any position to use. Tegan followed him down, but her bulky form and bulkier armour meant she made no progress. Malakai used my bow to shoot at the grimlocks across the chasm, and managed to hit one in the arm. Shots flew back at Malakai and Alun, but failed to find their targets. I considered my situation - free from attack by arrow, but exposed to melee, I drank a potion to shield myself, and kept moving in the same general area so as to be an elusive target.

The dwarves were unable to descend further, but Mal managed to shoot his opponent again. They returned fire, and hit Malakai. I moved further in, after drinking another potion to protect me from arrows. I came out of the other side of the tunnel, which opened into a larger, tall cavern. A tunnel 20 feet up in the rear wall probably led back to where the attackers must be shooting from, and held one end of a rope bridge leading higher and further into the temple. The climb up would be hard with the underhang at the bottom – the tunnel I just came through. I considered my options.

The dwarves finally managed to get down a further ten feet, and Malakai skewered his target with another arrow. They again returned fire but missed Alun and Mal. I decided to climb up, and spied some handholds that let me climb beyond the underhang and up, almost to the ledge and rope bridge.

At this point I did not know what the other Knights were doing, but have pieced this together after we made camp later. I heard Alun reach the bottom, quicker than I had expected, and somewhat heavily. As for the attackers, I did not know what they were doing.

I swung myself up easily onto the ledge where the rope bridge was attached. From out of the shadows, a female grimlock attacked me, but failed to strike. I struck back, and sliced through her thick skin. Looking at the ledge, I realised I was unable to move effectively, without going through her. It was going to be a difficult fight.

Alun shouted up to Tegan "Drop and I'll catch you!". I then heard a whump of metal armour hitting armour. 'Well, they're down' I thought. I heard the twangs of more arrows, and Mal and Alun grunt in pain.

The two-knife wielding grimlock ‘girl’ faced off against me. She swung and missed, and I then tried to duck past her. She blocked my move and struck my arm. Blood was now pouring from various wounds I had sustained. I swiped back at her, but was off balance and couldn't return the favour of a wound.

I heard movement from below. 'Come quick' I thought to myself. She struck at me again, but missed with the other blade. I tried to get behind her, but again failed. However, in blocking my advance, she opened herself up to my attack, and I plunged my blade into her side.

Again, more movement from my fellow Knights. And more shots.

I squared off against the now raging grimlock. 'F#++ this' I thought, and quickly grasped my sword between my teeth and backed off up the rope bridge. As this was three ropes, strung together, without planks, I had to risk falling in order to move quickly. Going hand over hand I managed to make it over to the other side, leaving the grimlock far behind. Upon gaining the other side, I heard movement ahead. 'Out of the frying pan...' I thought, and prepared to fight once again. As long as it wasn't more raging female monsters!

I had a chance to look at the other Knights now, and saw Tegan below, and Alun enlarged to twice his size. He had obviously had an idea, and hoisted Tegan up to the ledge, where the barbarian struck her a minor blow. She then stood up. As she did so, the rager had another strike, but again only managed to nick her.

From further down the corridor I was at the top of, I heard movement, and grimlocks with morningstars advanced towards me, one throwing a javelin that soared over my head. After one grimlock struck at me but missed, I had to devote myself to just not getting hit, and hope that the other Knights could do something.

Behind me, Alun considered his own limited options. With no ability to climb, and no other apparent means of getting up, he could not directly enter the combat up above. He started to scramble up a large pile of rubble to be at my side of the bridge, but 20 feet below.

The grimlock in front of me swung its morningstar, but missed widely. I carried on my defence. Our Shield Knight, Alun, stretched up and struck at it, and his hammer cracked the grimlock on the knee. It staggered but remained upright. Tegan hit the raging barbarian. We were in a stalemate until something changed. And then they did. Alun, with an upward swing, smacked the grimlock facing me and it collapsed. Another one moved in and he knocked that one unconscious too, blood pouring from its temple. The final grimlock facing me backed off.

Tegan and the raging grimlock traded blows again, and the Stone Knight was getting the worst of it. Alun healed me and I moved up to the last grimlock on this side. Tegan started concentrating solely on defending herself.

In the midst of this half-lit, confusing fight on multiple levels, I vaguely wondered where the Storm Knight was. 'We need Malakai' I thought.

Alun tried to haul his oversized body up to ledge where I was fighting. He managed but ended up prone and precariously balanced on the edge of the ledge.

The grimlock missed me and I riposted and wounded his arm. On the other side, Tegan was holding the barbarian off successfully.

The Shield Knight started moving gingerly over the rope bridge, his massive frame swinging wildly over the chasm. Everyone else was marking time, trading ineffectual blows or just avoiding them.

I finally dropped the grimlock facing me. However, I couldn't see a way I could help the Shield Knight at the time. I waited to see what Alun and the others did.

The barbarian knocked Tegan unconscious and moved back. Another one moved in but failed to shoot Tegan. The Shield Knight finally moved up to the stricken dwarf, but couldn't do much else. I moved up to the edge of the ropes and shot the grimlock barbarian in the shoulder, but she carried on regardless.

I heard Mal's armour as he clanked across the floor below. 'Finally!' I thought.

One of the earlier archers tried again to shoot Tegan in the guts, but missed. He then moved back. Another grimlock moved in but failed to hit her. Alun healed Tegan back to consciousness. I took a shot at this new creature, but only inflicted minor damage with my shortbow. Where is Mal with my longbow? I heard him moving further in...

The archer moved out of my reach, and took another shot at Tegan prone on the floor, but missed. Alun healed Tegan again. Tegan got up and smacked the archer with her axe. I started moving across the rope bridge, careful of my step. Finally, the Storm Knight came into view and stood below Alun.

I then saw more shuffling grimlocks in the darkness ahead, in front of Alun on the bridge, and Tegan. I wondered if they were retreating. Apparently not. The Shield Knight healed Tegan with a wand yet again. I moved up right behind Alun, so that both of us were on the ropes, me standing, him crouching to lower his centre of gravity. Malakai threw a weighted rope over the rope that formed the ‘base’ of the bridge "Pull me up!" he shouted.

The grimlock in front of Tegan moved back. What were the others doing? The female barbarian grimlock came back. She was no longer raging it seemed, but less wounded. She hit Tegan with one of her knives, slicing her forearm. Alun looked to see if he could get Malakai up, but could not – so he healed Tegan again. The Stone Knight swiped at the barbarian, but missed. I moved further back, just to get a better view, and create space for Tegan. Malakai realised the fruitlessness of his rope, so moved back to see if there was another way of getting up.

The barbarian missed Tegan with her double knives. Alun healed Tegan yet again. Tegan, our Stone Knight took a smack at the barbarian, doing some serious damage. I moved back to the other side of the bridge and took a shot, but missed widely - too many bodies in the way. Malakai was now out of my sight again and I heard arrow shots, but no gasps of pain.

The barbarian hit with one of her knives, but missed with the other. Our Shield Knight continued his healing role... Tegan took another swipe and smacked the barbarian with her war axe - the barbarian dropped to the floor, unable to stand against our bulwark of Shield and Stone. Another grimlock moved to stand over her. I decided to get out of this tunnel and move down to the cavern floor. I hung and dropped down to the scree, and scrambled to the bottom. Malakai was still out of my sight.

Above me, Tegan smacked her war axe into the grimlock archer. Alun waited with the wand at the ready. The grimlock smacked Tegan with his club. I moved through the tunnel back to the chasm where I fell down, and to Malakai, where he handed me back my longbow. At last! Malakai then attempted to climb the cavern wall in fullplate, but didn't get very far. I suppressed the urge to snigger, and shook my head instead.

Alerted to the noise our Storm Knight made trying to climb the cliff face, an archer above shot at me, but missed. I heard Alun using the healing wand's command word... again! I didn't hear Tegan hitting though. I moved out to shoot, but missed. Malakai continued his attempt to climb, unsuccessfully.

The archer shot at me again, but missed. I then heard the sound of two thuds – one sounded like a grimlock body, the other a grimlock head. Tegan, I assumed. I missed again. Malakai gave up his futile climb and hugged the wall.

The archer missed me once more. I wondered what Tegan was doing. The archer seemed distracted though. I took advantage of this and shot the grimlock in the leg, He fell and hit the floor - hard. He didn't get back up.

We regrouped, healed and got up to the rope bridge. I then took the lead and we carried on moving into the tunnels, up a slope. I moved as silently as possible.

Entering a sloped cave with three other exits, I spied a grimlock at the far end. He threw a javelin, but missed me. Moving further in, I saw that more creatures were in the room. They shouted to each other in Undercommon: "They're here! Fresh meat!” I answered with another shout: "Eat this!" and took a shot. The creature that attacked me collapsed, an arrow protruding from its throat. I heard the other Knights then move up behind me. At the same time, I spotted a second grimlock. It also threw a javelin, but it missed like the previous one.

Malakai then moved ahead of me. I moved to one side and shot into the near dark ahead, but missed. The grimlock I was aiming at then moved up to me and hit me with a spiked, club-like weapon. I grimaced and carried on. Everyone was now in the room.

Malakai then entered melee with the grimlock that we faced, but failed to connect with his sword. I moved out of range just as the grimlock swiped vainly at me. I got to a strategic position to cover two other entrances to this cave. The grimlock then smacked Malakai. Stone Knight and Shield Knight were moving in now, but had difficulty engaging the enemy due to the treacherous ground.

From my strategic position I saw what looked like another grimlock barbarian move down from another tunnel. "They have come to test me master! Await me in your lodge!" he cried in Undercommon. I hastily nocked an arrow and shot at him, but missed. Alun then moved to intercept the creature. More grimlocks came at us from beyond the melee that Mal was slowly winning. That fight became a bottleneck.

Malakai hit the grimlock he was facing, but failed to take it down. Tegan had now moved up to the combat, but her axe also failed to connect. I moved further back and shot the barbarian, but only nicked his torso. He then moved to Alun, and planted an almighty blow on him. "Blood and skulls! Blood and skulls!" he shouted. Alun withdrew out of the combat, back to the others. I then felt extremely exposed, with nothing between me and a charge from this monstrous warrior. Meanwhile, another grimlock took a swipe at Malakai, and planted a solid blow on his torso.

Malakai moved out of range, suffering a hit as he moved, and quaffed a potion. Our foolhardy Storm Knight then challenged the barbarian. As he moved out, Tegan moved into the gap. She killed one grimlock and followed through with a backhand swipe, but missed the only other grimlock within reach. The remaining grimlocks were still stuck behind the current combat, apart from the barbarian. I drank a shield of faith potion and went on total defence, awaiting the approach of this barbarian. ‘He might ignore Malakai and still attack me’, I thought.

The barbarian was obsessed with Mal however. "Come, Blood Prow!" he shouted, and moved to attack. Mal avoided his strike with a deftness that belied his heavy armour. "I shall plough through flesh like a ship through the waters!" the barbarian continued ranting. Tegan then got hit by another grimlock, obviously emboldened by the presence of this creature. Meanwhile, Alun healed himself from the obviously serious wound the barbarian had inflicted.

The Storm Knight then replied to the barbarian’s attack with an almighty smite, rocking him back on his heels with the power of Heironeous. Meanwhile, Tegan was unable to hit. I moved round so as to be behind the barbarian, and caught him under the arm with a deep cut. "Your ship shall run aground this day!" I replied in a counter to his exhortations. I did not believe he cared much for my oratory though. The barbarian then hit Malakai, solidly, but not enough to stagger him. Behind our paladin, Alun the Shield Knight healed Mal. The bottlenecking grimlock attacked Tegan once more but missed.

Mal then called upon the power of his god again, "Heironeous smite thee!" and slashed across his chest, making him drop momentarily to his knees. Tegan continued her guard of the other entrance. I moved back to engage at a different point, and he smacked me across the chest with an opportune blow. I then moved back to his side to strike, but didn't connect. I felt very weak. The barbarian however was also running out of steam it appeared, as he missed Malakai. Alundar sensed an opportunity then. He moved in swiftly and brought his mace down on the barbarian’s head, who collapsed with blood pouring from a cracked skull. We all rejoiced our victory over such a stern foe, and then realised that the fight was not yet over! The Stone Knight was defending herself madly from attack by another grimlock, and one blow managed to get through her defences and strike her axe-arm.

Mal moved round Tegan to face the other grimlocks halted by her defence. He injured one, whereupon Tegan killed it, and followed through with a cleaving to the next foe - killing it also. The felled bodies allowed a third grimlock to move past her and she struck it too as it past her. ‘That is one deadly dwarf’ I thought. I moved to Alun. "I shall be done for if you don't heal me now" I suggested. He obliged me with the aid of his god.

The combat then became one of who lasted longest - the seemingly never ending supply of grimlocks or our resolve. Alun continued to heal me, while Tegan and Mal continued the offensive. The weight of numbers eventually rendered Tegan unconscious with their pressing attacks, but Alun came to revive her. Meanwhile, Malakai finished off the last of the grimlocks. We were momentarily able to catch our collective breaths.

Looking at the defeated grimlock barbarian chieftain, he had the usual pebbled-skin piercings. Also of note was a white mushy substance caked round his mouth. A quick sniff of this stuff caused me to become momentarily filled with anger - with flashes of colour and waves of disorientation. They all quickly passed. I now knew why this creature was spouting such nonsense if he was eating this!

As we regrouped and healed our wounds, Malakai and I heard a noise from down the third tunnel, and Malakai spotted a grimlock advancing slowly. As he saw it, it heard him and quickly backed off. We decided to complete our preparations before continuing. Malakai kept watch over the tunnel entrance, but got a javelin in the shoulder for his troubles.

I used this time to check out the other unexplored exits from this cavern. One was a bedroom, the other was a closed chamber with stalactites in it. I returned to the other Knights.

I found that Malakai had moved down the tunnel, and the others were following. ‘Time to get on’ I thought. We then heard a roar from Malakai ahead. Alun healed Tegan and carried on down the tunnel. I moved on beyond them and caught up to Malakai. He continued to advance and got struck by another javelin. I exhorted him to let me go first, as I was protected for the time being, but he carried on regardless, into what appeared to be another large cavern. The air in this place stank with the scent of rotting flesh, and halfway into the chamber was a 10 foot drop down to a lower level. A low moaning sound came from further in the room, beyond our light sources. The groaning became louder, and a creature came into view.

The figure was a grimlock, wearing some kind of heavy armour. As he moved forwards he said in Undercommon "Welcome!". I heard Tegan and Alun moving behind us. ‘Quicker, dwarves!’ I thought in exasperation, as I saw more grimlocks moving about the chamber.

I moved up behind Mal, and loosed a shot at the grimlock in front of me, on the level below. The shot went wide. Another grimlock moved up to Malakai, but failed to hit. Malakai shouted out "grimlocks ahead!" and struck the one in front of him. It dropped without a sound. The speaking grimlock moved further up, whilst an ethereal club moved up to strike ineffectually at Malakai. In a guttural chanting, the grimlock then cast a spell. Malakai was frozen in place. "Dinner is served!" the grimlock shaman said, rather ominously. Alun and Tegan were now up behind me.

From knowing that the grimlock could cast divine spells, and the note in Theldrick’s effects as to the presence of a Erythnul devotee called Grallak Kur in these warrens, I surmised that this was in fact Grallak, and that defeating him would mean the defeat of the Erythnul temple!

I moved further into the room, and launched an arrow at the grimlock below. I struck him in the groin and he all but collapsed. He moved behind Grallak Kur. The other grimlock warrior stabbed Malakai in the shoulder. He flexed his muscles and his veins bulged with the effort of trying to free himself from the spell, but was held fast for now. Kur uttered a spell that caused waves of thunderous noise to fall on the Knights of Shield and Stone, and Alun and Tegan were stunned. They held their heads and staggered about, trying to recover.

I moved to get a better position and managed to put another arrow into the grimlock hiding behind Grallak. It hit the creature's head, and it fell and lay still. The one surviving warrior stabbed again at Mal, but failed to pierce his magical armour. Mal again was frustrated in his attempts to move from the hold of the spell. Grallak Kur cast yet another spell, covering us all in rolling mist. I strained my ears to hear Tegan and Alun moving around, and I heard Tegan come near to me.

I moved all the way across the upper level, to go behind the warrior that was attacking Malakai as I knew where he was. When I got there I saw that Alun was already in combat with the creature, and moved to flank. As I did so, it struck at me, but missed. Malakai, with a final struggle against the force that held him, managed to free himself from the spell. The glowing club moved to attack and hit me, as Grallak told Tegan to "Flee!". She declined, the dwarven resolve of our Stone Knight showing true. The grimlock warrior moved out of the flank and tried to hit me, but failed - I move far too quickly. Malakai moved closer to Alun, and asked for healing. Alun obliged. Suddenly, Grallak appeared out of the mist, now up on the ledge, to attack and wound Tegan badly. Tegan, seriously hurt, moved completely away from Grallak.

I moved to the side of the grimlock warrior, avoiding a clumsy swipe from it. I knew that the battle needed to be ended quickly, and I struck decisively at the thing’s chest and it collapsed. Malakai then moved up to Grallak and hit him solidly. He grunted. The glowing club moved away from my head, and swiped at Malakai - hitting him soundly. At the same time Grallak smacked his morningstar into Malakai's chest, winding him. Alun came in to support Mal, and his mace cracked some of the shaman’s armour, hurting him. Tegan cast a spell on herself.

I moved up to the melee on Grallak, but could not reach him to do anything. As it was, Malakai was still winded and missed with his sword slash, as did Grallak, moving carefully to avoid being trapped up against the edge of the ledge. Alun was also unable to get a good swing at the grimlock leader with his mace. Tegan cast another spell and then moved back in.

I held, and prepared to drag Malakai out if he fell. Malakai attacked but missed. Grallak responded with a meaty thwack, but our Storm Knight withstood the attack. Alun used his wand of curing to heal Malakai’s wounds. Tegan, still finding her feet in the fight, missed with her axe.

Thinking that I needed to change tack to be effective, I moved down to the lower level. I came face to face with a dirty, frightened, human holding onto a rope. "Please don't hurt me!" he said. I put one hand over his mouth, and motioned for him to be quiet. Up above, Mal missed again. His swipes were increasingly wild due to fatigue. Unfortunately, Grallak’s aim with his club was true and his blow sent Mal into unconsciousness. "Three there were, now two!!" the shaman uttered. Alun then cured Mal back up, as Tegan hit with her axe.

I moved across the lower level with the man following me. The mist was not as thick here and I easily climbed up the wall to be on the other side of Grallak. At least, I think I was – in the battle and with the mist it was hard to tell who was who. I was surprised to see that the prisoner also managed to move up the wall, using a magical rope which curled upwards, as if alive.

At the top, things were very chaotic.

The whole area was shrouded in mist, and I could only see vague outlines of the combatants to target. The grunts and shouts of the combatants made this easier though, along with the shorter stature of my dwarven comrades, and I entered the fray. Blows were exchanged, threats and curses uttered, healing granted and eventually, despite the disadvantage of limited vision compared with Grallak’s indifference to seeing his targets, we defeated him. I believe it was myself that struck the killing blow, but our blowhard paladin claimed it, and I chose not to argue. After catching our breath, we turned to the raggedy man that I encountered below. The man thanked us for his rescue, and introduced himself as Terreg - a miner from Diamond Lake.

Grallak had little in the way of treasure, or possessions of any sort. What he did have was a silver key, and several sheets of parchment with deranged ramblings on them. Terreg explained that he had been kidnapped, due to his fluency in Undercommon, and forced to scribe Grallak’s utterences during his regular drug-induced visions.

The sheets would be taken away by one of Grallak’s guards, to whom, he did not know, though he had heard them talk of ‘The Faceless One’, who would soon deliver them blood and sacrifices.

I examined the writings:
