Drow, who needs another FR fanboy with their version of a Drizit knock off.

Humans are my favorite race.

I'm still waiting for half-gnomes.

Bring back the wemic as playable race.

In dnd and in computer rpgs I am not a fan of the half-animal races, they just give me a creepy furry-esq vibe. What is sad is that the Dragon guys and shifters have nice stats/abilities the min/max part of me likes but the fluff just turns me way off.

What about the half-gnome/half-orcs?

That conjures thoughts and images I don't want to think too long about...

It's like a Chihuahua giving birth to a Great Dane.

I have always hated gnomes... until I read the way Pathfinder handles gnomes. I like the combination of Pathfinder gnome fluff and 4E gnome abilities. A lot.

Warforged are not robots... "refluffing them as constructs" is not necessary... they are constructs. That said, they don't fit in a non-Eberron campaign very well.

Dragonborn... I like the race, but not for my 4E Curse of the Crimson Throne campaign. Just too exotic.

I never got excited about Shifters. They seemed "extra" and just not necessary.

Finally... elves. It's not the elves I hate, it's the players that want to play elves. Invariably, they are either way too "hippy" or way too much of a min-maxer. Rarely does someone play an elf without falling into one of the two categories. Oh, that and the "secret door radar" thing from previous editions. Ugh.

The only race I dislike so far are Goliaths. Never liked them in 3.5, so that just may be rollover prejudiuce.

My faves are Gnoll and Tiefling.

I really don't like the treatment of duergar in any edition. From growth-hormone-rich psykers to Asmodius-worshipping quill-beards, I never liked them. I would like to see more of a link to the Norse mythos (aka the Dvergar). But then again all the Underdark races have roots from Norse counterparts:

Dvergr - duergar
Døkkálfar - drow (“dark elfs”)
Svartálfr - xvart/svart and/or svirfneblin (“black elf”)

To me, the Dark Iron Clan of dwarves from World of Warcraft seems more like what duergar should be. Maybe in 4E they could have reverted back to being servants of the Primordials. I dunno. I just don’t like their current incarnation.

Kenku and Wilden are my two least favorite races as far as appearance. I find I enjoy most all the races from the 2 players handbooks. At first glance I really didn't like the Devas, but I'm currently playing a Deva avenger and really getting into him. Having grown up reading Forgotten Realms, Dragonlance, and other "High Fantasy" I find that I miss having a literary background for the "new races" I'm looking forward to future handbooks that give more background on the "new races" as far as culture and role playing.
