So, who's going to be DMing that day for the release of the DMG II?

Worldwide D&D Game Day

(Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Subscriber)

I don't think there will be anything running on my base here in Iraq. :(

Damn. Could WotC email the mod to y'all?

Sweet!

(RPG Superstar 2008 Top 16)

I'll be running two games of Pathfinder. Someone has to show those poor folks how things should be done...

I will probably be DMing this for my FLGS this time around, still not quite sure how many people will be there though.

To have fun? Kewl. Both games are a blast!

Post. Advertise. Does your FLGS have a gaming board?

Have they released the locations for the US yet? It's barely a week away and I'm not sure what stores are participating.

Nope. :-(

I'll be playing at my FLGS, Enchanted Grounds I run a 4e game and don't get to ever play, so I am excited by the chance to be on the other side of the screen.

They don't have a poster board to put up our own notices, all they have is the big WotC board that they have all the events written on (including this Game Day). I'm not especially keen on advertising because I'm not sure where I would place them other than at the store and if too many people come, then a number of people that are not enthusiastic about DMing would be forced to run tables. But I'm fine with posting it here, it is going to be at "A Hidden Fortress" in Simi Valley, CA.

Have you talked to the guys at Dice House about hosting? Also, I bet Mark would run something. It's all a little last minute, though...

If you have a DCI number you should be able to go to WPN and find out if there is a game in your area. You might be able to register a number on-line as well.

I'll be running it at Rising Phoenix Games in Cherry Valley, MA on the 19th, and there will be another person running it there on the 20th. I already picked up the promo kit.

 Nice.

Has anyone else gotten the module for this? It is...different. It is a do-it-yourself thing where each group designs the adventure based on certain parameters provided by the module. Then you can switch your creation with another groups and play through it. Unusual but should be interesting.

I will be running it in Cedar City, Utah. Of course I don't know how many people will show up. The RPGA is kinda dead around here.

Sounds cool. Wish I could get my hands on it. I'm actually a late convert to 4e(what convinced me was playing the Avenger). Actually, free RPG day this year was prior to my interest and now I wish I had picked up the Eberron adventure. Anyway, there doesn't seem to be anyone in Southern California(LA/OC) that's running this event.

Thanks! You could also check to see if there's an rpg Meetup.com board for your area, too.

Yup. Several times. Will follow up tonight.

Only person I know who has it is the local RPGA head.

Re: different. Huh. That is unusual.

Re: RPGA. Maybe this will jumpstart things again?

Joela, I doubt this will jumpstart the RPGA. I have been running the RPGA WorldWide Game Days since the one for PHB 2 an the only people who show up are the same players who show up for my weekly game.

Gotcha. Hmmmm.

I guess it depends. The store I'm at has two groups going (and its getting larger) every Saturday.

Yes, this time around you team up and create the set of encounters. Then one of your number runs it for another team while the rest play through a rival team's creation.

Mactaka wrote:

Our FLGS closed down about two years ago. Since the I have been trying to keep things going at the local library, but the numbers keep dwindling. When we had a store here we were running three sessions with five tables each session. Of course we were running the RPGA just once a month, but it was a lot better than it is now.

Hiya.

Yup...but it will be Basic D&D (re: Rules Cyclopedia / BECMI) rules system. Either that, or StarFrontiers (...ok, so it's not 'D&D', but it was still made the by the guys that created it, so I'm counting it! :P ).

After today, the biggest response that comes to mind, is that those were awesome pre-gen character sheets.

One problem with the RPGA is that the process for reporting events is kind of daunting if you haven't done so before, or if you don't have someone walk you through it. Plus, by making it kind of a complicated process, there is a bit of a disincentive to run and report "official" events.

I'm not saying its insurmountable, but the effort/reward ratio is way off, as I noticed when I thought about registering my Star Wars Saga Campaign and reporting it.

Blazej wrote:

Agreed, we got to keep the sheet, plus the miniature that we played as well. I'm not sure that was how it was supposed to be, but it was a cool perk.

Yep, pretty sure that's what you get to keep for showing up and playing. Mini swag.

EDIT: Yup. From the Gameday info on Wizards' website: "Just for playing, you'll take home the pregenerated character sheet and a miniature of the character you played. If you DM the game, you'll take home a poster map of the encounter areas and a pack of monster miniatures used in the adventure."

No matter what your opinion of WotC, there are definitely some things they do right. ;)

How did folks' game go? Ultimately, I couldn't make it due to the holiday (Rosh Hoshanah).

Mine went well. I anticipated low turnout and put some time into the adventure, even adding in a skill challenge. All in all a good time, though I would have prefered a standard adventure.

Went to the one at my local FLGS, got to play in the morn and afternoon. Had lots of fun as a player participant- was my first time going thru an extensive live encounter in tabletop 4e. :)

While I was supposed to run a game at my FLGS (LA Mood's Comics in downtown London) I couldn't get out of work. It worked out OK though as a back up DM jumped in to run a game and it was a good thing - 2nd highest turn out yet for a WWD&D Day (only one higher was PHB 2) with 6 tables of 5-6 people each. The store reported excellent sales that day as well. Lots of youngin's too as well as the 'old guard'. I love these things and was pretty upset I had to work - next time I'm booking it 4 months in advance ( 4 weeks apparently isn't enough where I work).

I found it sad that some people on ENWorld didn't go or were 'annoyed' at the cooperative nature of the adventure building exercise - apparently that was the big hit here!
