To All...
I asked a similiar question the other night and I wish to ask it again as there were no responses...

With the issues of 4th edition causing such a split in game system/edition interests, what is your interest in the possibility of purchasing more system generic/edition generic universal fantasy products?

When I mean system generic/edition generic, products, that with a little bit of minor game crunch added to it when needed (if needed), are fully good to go with D&D basic box set, AD&D1, AD&D2, D&D3.0, D&D3.5, D&D4th, Rolemaster, True20, GURPS, OSRIC, etc. etc. etc.

I'm talking about the fluff... but nicely done detailed fluff.

Villages, information on basic non-adventuring goods, personality profiles for NPCs, that sort of thing....

For that matter, what would you like to see added to the universal supplement market that currently does not exist for fantasy? For that matter, for any genre?

Thanks!

I am always up for my info and ideas. Though my fiance points at my books at least once a week and asks "When will you have ENOUGH??" That being said though, yeah I'm still gonna keep looking for interesting stuff I can use from any source. Heck I buy systems I have no plans to run just because some parts interest me.

kinda like the old ad&d green books huh or the blue ones. yeah I'd like books like that be nice. lists of clothing and tools and common trade goods and such. pics also be nice i've made a few such lists myself a book of such ideals be nice.

NPC personalities and motivations.

Area flavour (architecture, clothing styles, good descriptions and food flavours). It would be good to mix and match.

Heck doing them up like a deck of cards would be awesome. Deal out on of each type and vola! You have a fully flavoured village with Npcs being generated just as easily. Paizo or somebody make these. I buy. Me want.

I'd like to see more products along the lines of AEG's "toolbox" or GM Gems (thought the latter's content didn't specifically interest me, the idea was sound).

I think the largest problem you will face is competition.

Every setting, adventure, and supplment that is produced for one rules system can be used a generic, fluff only setting for a different setting. Your products would simply be missing the built in audience of a system.

I have dozens, if not hundreds, of AD&D1, AD&D2, D&D3.0, etc adventures sitting on my bookshelf. I packed all the rule books for them ages ago, but I can still whip Keep of the Borderlands off the shelf and run it. All I need is the monster manual for the current system, and a few hours, and I'm good to go. I'm buying Paizo's pathfinder series for this reason. While I may not run them under 3.5, I might run those adventures using 4E. Old dungeon magazines work much the same way.

I would quite enjoy buying a fully fleshed out setting in a box, the kind of thing that you used to be able to buy from TSR. But i feel you should include at least version of the D&D system when you do that.

Of course, you coul dvery easily provide online PDF's for alternate systems. A 3.5 version of all the monsters for a 4E campaign setting.

I have none.

Things without crunch mean I have to supply it. If I have to supply it, I might as well generate my own material.

I buy things to avoid having to do it myself. Buying something with the express purpose of doing something myself is contraindicated.

I have to agree. I need stats as much as I need ideas.

Sorry,
Greg

Just chiming in with a me too.

Depends on the topic.

Some things I love, such as villages, cities, anything with lots of maps.

Other things I'm not interested in, such as deities, "a day in the life" stories.

I have the (highly recommended) Gygax Fantasy Worlds series from Troll Lord Games, which is pretty much what you've described. Someone would have to exceed the quality of these books in order for me to have any interest. Good luck!

Laws. The often forgotten side of any setting.

Edit: I had found this helpful when it came to city laws.
