What's with the wizards dnd site. There seems to be a countdown going on and it says 4venture. Are they planning to announce the release of 4th edition in 11 or so hours (based on the count down)?

Cheliax (Bella Sara Charter Superscriber)

I can't see your post, but I was just about to start a thread about this very topic. Looks like the DI might finally be launched.

Now that I can see your post, allow me to pick my jaw up off the floor.

And they said they wouldn't announce at gencon...

Is it just me or does it feel like we have less than 12 hours to save the world?

Cheliax (Bella Sara Charter Superscriber)

All the dice are on 4's as well.

HOOOO-YAHHHHHH

I'm so excited. How the hell am I going to make it 11 hours?

Edit:

dance dance dance

I know nobody is going to share my excitement and everyone is waiting with baited breath to howl and moan, but, let me say again:

Sounds like we need Jack Bauer.

So DI? ...'Shudder'... 4th Edition? I was, until this moment, one of the non-believers. But... All of the fours.

But let's investigate!

4DVENTURE

It could be 4D. Dungeons and Dragons could be bringing the world 4D. We'll all be playing in 4D come tomorrow.

Silver Crusade (Pathfinder Adventure Path Subscriber)

4e here I come! I just burned my entire library of 3.5 books. They are SO three days ago...

Does it say 23 hours for everyone now?

Phazzar wrote:

It does for me.

Silver Crusade (Pathfinder Adventure Path Subscriber)

That's what it said for me.

Man, and I just took the untraceable poison and blowgun out of my luggage.

Cheliax (Bella Sara Charter Superscriber)

Yup. It's 23 hours now.

dance dance dance

Edit: dancing temporarily interrupted to consider effect on launch of Pathfinder. When 3.5 was announced, 3e book sales tanked. :-(

Sounds like a 4e announcement, all the signs would suggest ...

Well, much as I'd rather it wasn't 4e, I hope for your sake it is Celestial Healer, after all that book burning!

Silver Crusade (Pathfinder Adventure Path Subscriber)

I only play 4th edition. 3.5 is soooo out of style.

woo hoo...

new time system for 4th edition... rounds and minutes were so hard to use

He does that on Wednesdays anyway. Usually it's a selection of Bronte, Dickens and Food Network cookbooks.

Creepy...now it really does feel like 24...

Darn it, burn in hell Wizards, burn!

The address bar shows "Gleemax" inside the URL on the forums there. I noticed it a few days ago. I am not sure who long it has been like that. Anybody know?

Yeah...

This week it's an entire set of Danielle Steele novels and a Player's Handbook.

You guys nearly cost me a computer screen. Sexi Golem was just raving about the absolute stupidity of "leet speak" (I will NOT use two 3s in that), with special attention towards the aneurystic practice of replacing 4 for "a". Even as he sat down, I was saying something to the effect of "Thank god for Paizo, where people type in full sentances with proper grammar and don't use that crap." Then... this thread appeared... and the screaming ensued.

Nothing to add about 4e, except maybe... "meh."

A couple weeks/months. The magic community has been more plugged into the gleemax thing and there were a number of contests around it (photo scavenger hunt). It is supposedly the proto-DI.

Blame WotC.

Maybe the new rulebooks will all be typed in 1337 speak.

Wait. Now I'm getting 22 hours. WotC has a hard time telling time, it seems.

I think that might be because they forgot to take in account which time zone they were aiming for.

Maybe to occur at the same time as an annoucment at Gen-Con at 3:30 (PST) tomorrow?

Imagine the stat blocks.

"Wait, I didn't have a bonus of four, that was the first letter in my PrC."

Maybe it is the announcement of a partnership between Ford (4D) and Wizards of the Coast that will produce a new die-shaped vehicle (Named Venture).

Perhaps, "4 days of adventure"? A Gen Con kick off?

Thanks for the suggestion, Vascant.

Probably 6.5.

Perhaps is a DI thing. No longer is it 2d (paper) but a magnificent 4d! Perhaps they're just teasing us.

Wishful thinking? At any rate, I refuse to play in anything less than 5 dimensions.

Sebastian! You caused this!

They saw your post and saw it as the last straw. You made them start the countdown!

You have doomed us all to fourth edition!

I like that idea-it sounds feasible and it would put off the inevitable(but will 4e suck or soar?)

I would have more sympathy for your position if you were not a member of the generation that birthed l33t speak and has made a constant assault on the English language since then with your new fangled "texting" and "IMing."

Now get off my lawn.

I also admitted to being a brain in a jar in another thread. I'm surprised no one ever figured out my true identity. Mha ha ha.

Inevitable? I can see the 4E Inevitable now. It maintains order by combating those who use the previous editions rules.

My guess, it's either the announcement of the new Digital Initiative or 4E.

The 4 days of adventure, in reference to Gen Con, does sound plausible though.

Olaf the Stout

It looks pretty much like 4th Ed. is on its way. It probably won't have any OGL stuff in it either. Of course, if it does, how does this impact on Paizo and the other publishers? Interesting times ahead indeed.

Olaf could be right though.

If 4 days of Gen Con were the case, then I would think it would be on the more of the Wizard's website, including Star Wars, etc, not just on D&D.
