Okay, I promised I would get this up, so I wrapped it up this morning. This is a small 'dings' font that is based on the symbols from the PHB. This includes the dice (white and black), 'melee', 'burst', 'close', and 'ranged' icons.

No license or anything. Free to use for all. Feel free to post suggestions for improvements.

Thanks! :)

Thanks for the linkify... I swear, I'm spoiled for other forums that do it automatically.

*bump*

Still looking for some feedback before I put this live later on today.

Well... since there aren't any other comments, I'll go live with this one tonight. Thanks, everyone.

Well... since there aren't any other comments...

These are great! What more could we say?

Thanks :)

Good stuff Dude. Using them right now.

Thanks for the wingdings.

The only issue I had with using them, so far anyway, was figuring out which letters were bing used. Admittedly its pretty obvious ultimatly but it still involved going through all the letters on the jeyboard to insure that I did not miss any.

Possibly a quick text document along with the file noting which letters are in use might insure more people actually use these.

There will be a 'usage txt' included in the zip when I'm finally satisfied with it. I HATE having such an empty font, though...

I did add the 'condition track arrows' as per a request, mapped to the less than, greater than, and equal sign (for 'stop').

Same link as before.

4e font pack I found about a month ago.

And those are illegal, since they're pulled from the illegal PDFs and all that... that's a 'no no', Urza.

If you are not using all the letters, here's a suggestion.
Male Pixie.
There is no figure for one.
I can't even find a good picture of one.
A fellow gamer is trying to play one for savage seas and he cannot find a figure.

I tried Sparks, and no luck. (sigh)

You, my friend, are beautiful. This makes everything I write look so professional, even if it is only so I can read it and go "Ooh, aah".

THANK YOU, SirUrza, for this link, I salute you for your patronage!

Much like female dwarves, male pixies don't really exist.

Ugh.

Guess theres' no point in EVER making any more fonts for Dungeons and Dragons, since some people will hack and pirate illegal PDFs to pull fonts without permission and then threadjack me to distribute them.

Thanks guys. Really. I mean it.

People just really have it in for you, vance.

Urza actually might, now that I think on it.

But, honestly, this was just RUDE.

What? I am sorry. I did not hear you. I was downloading Urza's cool font pack.

Ow. My internet feelings are hurt. I bet that gave you an internet penis growth as well. Now we can all be internet biotches!

Give me a break. It was an a&@@@~@ thing to do, and I guess that I'm more upset that I was surprised.

Was it really that bad of a thing to do? SirUrza supplied the community with something valuable and effective for typing up documents, almost capable of replicating a 4th edition book's font. (The almost excluding the elusive Vecna font, which I cannot find anywhere) Honestly, it wasn't a jerk move, it was a commendable move if anything.

No, it was a jerk move.

First, the fonts are illegal. They were taken from illegally redistributed PDFs of the core books. They were spliced from the PDFs in a method that's already been found, in court, to be illegal.

Second, he put it up as a response to the font I put up which was legal and free. It was a big middle finger.

How would you like if you posted up an article and someone said "go HERE for a better version of the this article!" ... how would you take it? Just curious.

So, yeah, jerk move.

The legality of it I would rather not get into, but I don't find somebody doing something illegal to be an a$$hole if it's really as minor as taking a few fonts for personal use. Those fonts are REALLY nice!

And no, that was certainly not a middle finger, it was providing the community with valuable content which can be used with their microsoft word documents.

In the hypothetical sitatuion you mentioned...I wouldn't throw a tantrum, unlike some people around here.

Just my 2 cp.

Well, you know, it's just that I'm really tired of being nice, and would REALLY like to learn to be a total selfish prat online. I don't think I'm really pulling it off well, though, so .. could you give lessons? We can work here, I'll go through paypal for you, and we'll determine rates based on results.

Sorry, it's an acquired trait. ;)

Does anyone know where I can find that star symbol they use in powers between Encounter * Martial? It's a little diamond symbol.

Just a tad dated - but go to 'insert special characters' in your Word Processor. There will almost certainly be a diamond.

I've noticed what appear to be some new symbols in the monster builder. At least one new one that seems to be associated with aura's. Anyone know of a font set that includes such a symbol?

i am sad that i can't get to vance's fonts. :(

I actually brought this up with Greg Bilsland at PAX East earlier this year. The GameIcons font that I use contains all the original symbols, but the aura symbol is new. Either someone is going to have to update the font, or the community is going to have to deal with using the letter O to denote auras.

I know that using these symbols is allowed under the GSL. I wonder if it would be possible for WotC to release a font that contained their proprietary symbols. I'm sure they have something in-house that they're already using for this purpose.

Not sure what word processor your using but most have a pretty good special character package. I went through mine looking for something along the lines of what they are using and I have not found an exact match but there are special characters that are significantly closer then a straight O that might serve until the community can get their hands on an actual up to date font.

In Wingdings, there's a symbol that comes very close - a circle with little star points sticking out. On my PC, it's Wingdings #82.
