I discovered while doing some monster research that 4e includes redcap analogues called spriggan. They're heroic tier, though, so I added a couple new paragon-tier examples of the breed.
I'd argue that a Redcap is an analog for a Spriggen. Spriggen have been around for a long time and have, historically, been fairly common, and therefore iconic, monsters.

Still what I'm saying is all just semantics.
Heh, yes, that's all true. I actually had to delve into some folklore history to see what the fuss was about when creating the two monster types.
The Spriggan in 4e are more of a umbrella name for a bunch of mischievous fey creatures. Weirdly, my exposure was to redcaps first (through WoD material, actually), and I hadn't familiarized myself with Spriggan until the last couple of weeks.
I've posted new versions of the first two adventures' conversion PDFs, as well as a new document that will collect player elements from the various converted sources.
Subdual dragon encounters - fights with dragons that end once the dragon is bloodied - are explained in Draconomicon: Metallic Dragons. You can find a free excerpt on the subject here.
This is perfect for the Longtooth encounter during the Sandpoint raid at the beginning of Fortress of the Stone Giants. Expect to see some minor revisions to that encounter in the PDF version that bring it in line with the subdual encounters concept.

Thanks for all your hard work with this conversion Scott, as a first time 4E DM I've really appreciated having this material available while running my group through this AP.
I do have a question I hope you can offer some insights into. I have a new player joining our group who, after reading the Player's Guide, wants to play a Varisian Sorceror with a Varisian Tattoo. I notice however that the prerequisites for the converted feat make this only a valid option for wizards. I was thinking of modifying it so that it was available (and useful) for sorcerors and possibly other arcane users, and was wondering whether you have any pointers or suggestions.

Thanks in advance.
Thanks for calling this to my intention. You're right that it makes little since to continue to confine this feat to Wizards. I've altered the feat significantly. I think the new version is much more interesting than my first take on it, and can now benefit all arcane classes.
The revised feat will be in the next published update, but in case you want to use it immediately, here's what I just pounded out:
Varisian Tattoo Prerequisite: Con 13, any arcane class
Benefit: Once per encounter, select a resistance you possess from the following list: acid, cold, fire, lightning, thunder. You lose that resistance until the end of the encounter, or until it would expire. The next target hit by an arcane attack power you use before the end of your next turn that deals damage of the same type as the resistance you lost takes additional damage (of the same type as your lost resistance) equal to the value of the resistance lost.
Have a look at the Vistani article on the Wizards website for ideas to adapt to Varisians as well.
Already planning on a post to that effect. But, in all honesty, there's very little adaptation that needs doing. All of the mechanical options in that article have great flavor for a Varisian character (so they don't need to be changed) and all the Varisian fluff already exists in the Pathfinder books.
My party might hit the Shining Child of Thassilon encounter tonight (if they get past the Headless Lord and scanderig, and decide to check out the library door, and forget to use the password). It was a blast designing it, and I'm excited to see how it turns out in play.
Woah, this was going to be my 1st 4e campaign and I put it on hold b/c several iconic monsters weren't going to be initially released (esp stone ginats).
Well now I am looking for our 4th 4e campaign and I have come back to Rise of the Runelords. I vaguely remembered someone doing a conversion here, so here I am, and it seems impressive Scott.
I noticed this thread hasn't been used in a while. is this conversion still going? Are you still playing the AP?
WotC is debuting a new stat block format that organizes monster abilities by action type. I like it a great deal. I'll be updating all my conversion stat blocks to the new format when I get the chance.
Excellent work Scott. This has been a service to the entire community. I used it liberally when I ran Rise in 4E!

Love your conversions! Unfortunately I lost my copies of your RotR conversions in the flooding last month and they no longer appear to be downloadable. How can I get some replacement copies?
Scott, i also join all the other in thanking you and complimenting you for the quality of your work.
Thing is, i would also like to download the updated PDF compilations. Is there any way we can get hold of them? The blog has not been updated in a long time, and the files expired on the hosting sites.
I've been putting off re-uploading the older conversions because I've been planning on updating them to be more in-line with how my Legacy of Fire conversion is being done. But I've been lazy and haven't gotten around to it. I'll rehost the stuff soon and post here when it's done.
