I was in the process of buying a new, chatting w/ the sale rep etc, and I could see out the corner of my eye - a preview of a new game, or coming soon game - it was distracting to say the least - it looks awesome.

The preview looked very "Call of Duty Modern Warfare" esque. So I looked for info about the recently released sequel - but a sequence I saw in the preview showed para-military and guerilla militia in what looked like a South or Central American culture in an urban warfare setting - mixing it up with U.S. commandos; something like what was seen in the movie Clear and Present Danger - for the Columbia sequences of that film.

The info of what I know of COD-MW2 seems to indicate that game is primarily a Russia and U.S. soil setting. So I'm not convinced what I saw was that game - but certainly had that style of game

Can anyone shed some light on this. Thanks. I knew I should have gone over to check it out - but was rushed to the check out after I settled on my TV then of course out of mind with all the hoopla of purchasing and getting in the van.

Robert

It might be Just Cause 2, that's set in a tropical island environment along with urban settings.

Thanks for the hit, but I don't think so. I'm pretty sure the one I saw was more first-person. Just Cause is 3rd person - and doesn't have the same feel as I read it.

My gut tells me its more akin to Call of Duty Modern Warfare; but the one scene that stands out in my head showed like colombian drug cartel thugs in a poverty stricken urban setting being wasted by like Navy Seals or something. But I didn't get a sense from reading about it, that MW2 has that scene - looks like its Russian snow speeders, american soil near DC, and submarie scene and an aerial fight scene.

Just a guess and likely not a recent preview( Release Date: October 21, 2008), but maybe
Far Cry 2

It sounds like Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 1 or 2.

I haven't played Modern Warfare 2 but a co-worker indicated that there is a single level that takes place in Brazil. Apaprently, you're hunting down an arms dealer through some sort of shanty town.

Hope this helps!

Ah yes, there are a few levels of MW2 set in Rio. Those might be what you saw.

It's gotta be! It wasn't just military tanks et al, it was actual thugs - like gangbanger thugs; wearing bandana colors etc.

So the shantytown in Brazil is probably what I saw.

Thanks so much. That game is making a killing (pun intended). It's on my "most wanted" list.

On a seperate subject, I saw the trailer for Ghost Recon - looks good too; is it only available on 360? (I have PS3).

Thanks,
Robert

You can get GRAW 2 on PS3, but not GRAW 1. Don't worry about missing out on any plot, or anything.

What Uzzy said. GRAW 2 makes sure that the 1st games plot was utterly useless in perpetuating its own awesomeness.

Suite! Thank you. :-)

Yea it is. Five-day opening gross is $550 million... that's more than Transformers 2 by approximately $350 million, craziness!

(RPG Superstar 2010 Top 32)

Is it Battletoads? I think it's Battletoads.
