A heads up for Torchwood fans: Instead of the usual 13-episode run, this year it's a series of 5 episodes, collectively entitled "Children of Earth," to be broadcast in a single week.
In the UK, it's on BBC1 from July 6 to 11.
In the US, it's on BBC America from July 20 to 24. (The US debut of the Doctor Who special episode Planet of the Dead will follow on July 26, and the BBC America debut of The Next Doctor will follow July 27.)
In Canada, it's on SPACE from July 20 to 24. (The Canadian debut of the Doctor Who special episode Planet of the Dead will follow on July 25.)

The ABC (Australian Broadcasting Corporation)has picked up Torchwood and is showing first season on ABC2 before Being Human on a Friday night.
This is good as they wont muck around with the dates like the mess channel 10 made of it. I dont have any info on when or if they will show the other seasons.

That's cool! I was very surprised when Torchwood appeared on Channel 10 (although admittedly I had already watched it all via dubious means).

Being Human which is on afterwards is very good. Its about a Ghost, Vampire and Werewolf sharing a house... It sounds like a joke but its very good.

Sorry to thread jack but Being Human is very good - not as good as Ultraviolet but well worth watching.
Sadly no Sara Jane Chronicles in Australia either. The ABC (Owned and run by the Australian government so they dont care about ratings or have adds)used to have all of the great BBC sci fi - who ever is in charge of scifi at the moment has no idea. If it wasnt for public outcry they would have let Dr Who go to the commercial stations (and they are crap with times and rescheduling). The ABC let Torchwood go to channel 10 and they put it on in the graveyard slot and showed it out of order and swapped nights.
Somebody on ABC2 has started a Scifi revival - good stuff there.

Really? It may be because I grew up with her as 'my companion' but I always liked her. While she was the 'plot point' companion that so many were (Ace really broke this mold, though Romana strained it) She was one of the stronger companions to me.

I'm several years into the process of watching every single Doctor Who episode in a row (I'll have completed the Tom Baker years within a week or two). I liked Sarah Jane when I was a kid, but I like her even more having had the context of the entire series. One of the best classic companions.
Sarah Jane Adventures, being for kids, is fairly brainless fun, but each season has had one story that stood out a bit more for adults ("Whatever Happened to Sarah Jane?" in Series 1, and "The Temptation of Sarah Jane Smith" in Series 2).
I'm several years into the process of watching every single Doctor Who episode in a row (I'll have completed the Tom Baker years within a week or two). I liked Sarah Jane when I was a kid, but I like her even more having had the context of the entire series. One of the best classic companions.

I am still working on my collection. I have seen or read the missing ones of all of William Hartnell's episodes, unfortunately most of Patrick Troughton's episodes are missing, so most of those I will be reading and using the classic Doctor Who BBC Web site. The rest I just have episodes here and there of.

No—I watched them in reconstructed form. Fortunately, a few fans made off-air audio recordings back in the day, and between them, they happily managed to cover every episode that's still missing. The BBC has released them all on CD, and there are also many fan-made reconstructions that combine existing and new images with those soundtracks. The best ones are from Loose Cannon. (The BBC is aware of them, and so long as they operate under a few restrictions, including not charging for the recons, they're allowing them to continue doing what they do).
I should also mention that this year there's also a series of three Torchwood full-cast audio plays originally broadcast on BBC4 radio on July 1-3. These apparently bridge the gap between Series 2 and Children of Earth.
Those of you in the UK can download them from the BBC site for the next week only; those of us outside the UK will apparently have to wait for the CD releases.

I liked Jo (Katy Manning) and Romana 2 (Lalla Ward) the best.
I liked Katy Manning especially after "those" pictures with the Dalek.
