Just watched this movie and I got to say that it's truly a nice surprise. It's low budget but with very decent effects. I'm not going to reveal much only that it reminded me of Planescape. Seriously recommend the film.

Ditto. I saw it. It recently came out on DVD and Blockbuster and Netflicks is supposed to be carrying it. Very well written. It was filmed locally (for me) in Denver. Saw it in Denver and met the director/writer and a few of the actors -- including the girl. We bought their movie from their site --> Here and they signed all the copies they mailed to us.

If you've seen Dark City, it has a lot of that kind of feel to it.

Support independent filmmaking and check this one out.

I just saw this movie on Netflix and I have to say, wow! I can't get my head wrapped around this one, exactly.

I must admit, this film didn't look like much in the first 15 mins. I almost turned it off, but there was something about it that kept me watching. Perhaps it was filmed in an unusual way. Maybe it was the powerful performance by its male lead. I can't say, but it certainly was a bit low budget for my tastes, but the story just got better and better. The actors were also either competent or surprisingly good. I pretty much figured out some of what was going on before it was revealed, but it still pressed forward holding my attention.

I am still thinking about the Incubi. They were flippin' creepy and something completely different. It was a strange film because some of the elements I couldn't quite accept. I thought, "this has been done before." However, it didn't quite fit the stereotype and I forgave it for being somewhat cheesy when it turned towards unpredictable. I highly recommend this film as one of the best surprises I have seen in a long time.

This one is highly recommended. I watched it on my brother's Netflix account and he got rather upset with me when I gave it 5 stars afterward. :( Oops.

For a film that cost only a paltry $250k, I thought they did a pretty good job w/ what they had to work w/. I figured out the big twist w/ Ink (no spoilers, don't worry) before it was too obvious. Left me w/ a good feeling by the end of the movie.

The Pathfinder's dialogue I found a bit jarring and out of place w/ the rest of the film, but I'll admit I liked the scene where he "broke the flow".

What surprised me about the film was the acting. These guys never looked like fools pretending. They actually upheld their end of the film, where so many on a budget such as this could care less.

This movie should be titled The Best Film You've Never Heard Of.

Absolutely brilliant film.

Really? The premise interested me, and it started off okay, but when Ink is dragging around the little girl and the woman, I felt like the plot was dragging too, and I gave up on it.

I don't know how you watched it, Mairkurion, but this is a movie that requires your undivided attention. If you were distracted while it was on, then I'm almost sure that impacted what you thought of it.

There are lots of films that you can just throw in the BRP while you eat dinner or clean up your HDD or delete all those duplicate songs from your iTunes folder--this movie isn't one of them.

Andrew's Guide to Watching These Kinds of Movies:

1- Never view it under the worst environmental conditions (midday, windows open, birds chirping, kids playing in the next room, spouse cooking dinner, neighbor mowing the lawn, etc.)

2- Never pause it multiple times, getting up and down to carry out other tasks.

3- (related to number 2) Never do something else while 'watching' the movie--such as, surfing the internet, finishing your homework, palavering on the phone, cleaning the house, etc.

4- Never begin the movie with the determination you absolutely will hate it, wouldn't accept pathos, will probably-definitely find it stupid, etc. If this is your approach to the film, there are better ways to spend your time.

5- (related to number 4) Never watch the movie and deliberately refuse to 'suspend your disbelief,' determined to pick apart every action, dialogue, and effect.

6- If you really do have other things to do, then hold off on watching the movie until you have the appropriate free time.

7- (and this is often the most difficult one to avoid) Try to never begin the movie with too much foreknowledge--everyone has already told you the story and described the 'best' parts. Here's your opportunity to exert willpower and avoid clicking on spoiler tags.

8- (and this is the second most difficult rule to follow) Never watch the movie with someone who is determined to break one or more of the preceding rules.*

If you follow these eight simple interrelated rules, you, too, can enjoy Indie films, subtle horror, urban fantasy, and arthouse fare.

*The obvious exception to this is when the movie being viewed is part of a Home MST3K party ;-)

Did Andrew Turner just give me rules on how to watch a film?
DID ANDREW TURNER JUST GIVE ME RULES ON HOW TO WATCH A FILM?

Yeah, I was kind of distracted. We'll see, maybe I'll try it again sometime. But to be fair, I recently watched Kagemusha while distracted, and I could still tell it was a very good film.

I think that the producer/director still has some things to learn with flow and pacing. I believe that it is his first attempt at a full length movie. That being said, there are some spots where things seem to drag a little. Don't give up on it. At least make it to the end before you pass judgement.

I enjoyed the film more than Avatar, Star Trek or Moon, despite appearing amateur-ish.

It does have an exremely powerful emotional conclusion that ties in well with the beginning. All the films you listed above were mediocre in that regard, though excellent on different terms.

Ink made me think.... and cry.

Moon made me think, but not really emotionally compelling.

Avatar made me dream, and that's always a good thing.

Star Trek.... just made me gag. :)
