Good question. Wish I had a brain useful enough to answer that right now. Hmmm....

Rahne Sinclair (Wolfsbane from the New Mutants,X-factor and the Madrox mini series). Call it testostrone or something.

Taskmaster has always been one of my favorites, too, and I'll back you as my general favorite. I liked his limited series about 2 years back, and his appearances in Deadpool. I hope you are right that he will be big-timing it soon.

Other second stringers... From DC: the late, great Blue Beetle (peace out, Ted Kord, you will be missed). I always loved Metamorpho, and Animal Man. Zatanna. Ragman. Deadshot and any member of Suicide Squad (in any permeation of the group).

On the House of Marvel side... The Prowler, I liked Sandman when he was on Silver Sable's side, Stingray, My favorite second-stringer villan...Killer Shrike, followed closely by the Head Men. And the Scourge of the Underworld and all the villans he killed off (yeah, I'm talkin' to you, Blue Streak).

Moon Knight

The Taskmaster was much cooler when M.J. was kidnapped by Styx and Stone , you know when he was a real badguy. The KillerShrike is definetly cool too. R.I.P. Ted Kord,Booster Gold is boring without you. Anyone Remember Alchemy? But the best B-lister is definetly Sunspot of the New Mutants.

Just as long as Marvel can avoid the stupid habit of trying to turn cool villains into antiheroes like venom, mystique, the thunderbolts and the juggernaut, the Taskmaster remains the king of the B-list hill.

My favorite B-lister has always been US Agent. He was Captain America with a take no B.S. attitude. If you needed a smackdown he wasn't going to let morality get in the way of it.

They brought him back briefly for New Invaders but that fell by the wayside pretty quicklu

Currently I think he's pretty much been rolled into Ultimate Captain America.

The USAgent was Steve Rogers after SuperPatriot became the new Captain America until agents of the terrorist orginazation Watchdog gunned down his parents which sent the already volitle "New" Cap over the edge at which point the GoldenBoy

aka "Boyscout" Steve Rogers was called in to tan that hide.

How about Machine Man? Nobody remembers Alchemy in the X-Factor fan contest? Captured by trolls in london forced to turn any and everything into GOLD? Art Adams drew that issue if memory serves correct.

You are mostly correct...

Steve Rogers steped down as Captain America and took on the persona "the Captain" (black suit instead of blue).

John Walker, who had been SuperPatriot, was hired to take the mantle of Captain America in Steve Roger's absence. During his tenure, his former partners, the Left-Winger and Right-Winger divulged his identity and the Watchdog's (a malitia group controlled by the Red Skull) killed his parents. Eventually Rogers and Walker fought the Skull and Rogers regained the Captain America identity. Walker's death was faked and he was ushered into the new persona of USAgent.

Blue Devil. I think the term "weirdness magnet" was what really sold me on him.

Casey Jones (TMNT) would also be up there on my list. I made D&D character based on him, using "Duh Jock" article in an old Dragon magazine.

Favorite second-string bad guy: The Rhino. Just another manic-depressive guy stuck in a rhino suit. I still remember when he tried to be Santa to make (steal) some extra holiday money.

I cant believe I forgot the Captain, must be to much THC in my diet!

Then you'll be happy to know that Moon Knight's new series comes out this month. Me? I just hope they get rid of his stupid moon enhancment powers.

Daredevil: "Come on Moon Knight! Stained Glass Scarlet is on the loose again."
Moon Knight: "Aw, i can't DD. Theres a New Moon out tonight and because of it i'm about as useful as a MTA worker in times of crisis. Go get Punisher or somebody else to cover for me. I will be ready by the next full moon in about two weeks."

The latest thing i heard is that The White Soldier could be Cap's sidekick Bucky! Its official: People who die in the Marvel Universe must have revolving doors on their coffins.

Hawkman & the Doom Patrol from the 60s. Gil Kane's Atom also was fantastic, as was Kirby's New Gods.

From Marvel, the Inhumans done by Kirby & Colan's run on Sub Mariner (arguably not a 2nd stringer but Spiderwoman, Moon Knight, & Ghost Rider have each had an Essential volume published & still nada for Namor, so Marvel must view him that way).....

Jack "The King" Kirby's New Gods is one of the most underrated comics of alltime, right up there with John Byrne's OMAC black and white series(In my opinion the best work J.B.'s ever done), even better than his run on X-Men.

Shatterstar, Iron Fist, and Hawkeye - no wonder I have D&D characters loosely based on each one of these.

Deadshot from the suicide squad was pretty cool.
How about the Multiple Man(be everywhere at once, not to mention the things you could do when your with your lady).

I love Deadshot and just picked up his 'Identity Crisis' action figure from my FLGS at lunch! I'm a happy boy!

Marvel: The New Warriors. Love those guys. Hope they survive Civil War. I loved their "team/non-team" dynamic.

DC: Blue Beetle and Booster Gold. I miss ya Ted!

Sorry, dude, but as of the most recent issue of She-Hulk, the four that 'started' the Civil War...Speedball, Night Thrasher, Microbe, and Namorita...are all dead. Of course, you never know...they are Marvel characters. That almost de facto means they'll be back in 4 months or so.

Damn, Damn, Damn. Less incentive for me to buy Marvel. Rest in peace guys. You will be missed, by me, and by others.

Well, in the Civil War issue of She-Hulk, Vance and Rage play a big role...someone has set up a web-site to expose all the identities of the remaining Warriors bringing them a public that now hates them and blames them for the deaths of innocent school children. I don't think Civil War is going to be anywhere near as grippy as Identity Crisis/Infinite Crisis, but it's a good effort.

I really hope Vance and Rage make it through. My friends and I still debate the time Vance was on trial, and my g/f still quotes it when we get into the "if superpowers really existed" debate. I may pick up the Civil War trade for her if one comes out- it's really up her alley.

The leader of the Wrecking Crew. I forget his name. I read somewhere that he became a villian because his son tried to emulate the Human Torch and set himself on fire. This supposedly happened in an issue of "The Fantastic Four" a while back. I've always wanted to own that particular issue because of this morbid detail.

I dig on Hammerhead too. How silly can your power get?

"I bash things with my skull"

At least The Rhino got to wear a big grey suit.

DC comics Sandman (not the Robert Smith look-alike, the old one in the suit and gasmask) has to be my favorite B-leaguer. I especially love the Sandman Mystery Theater stories that came out a few years ago, set in the 1920s and drawn by Guy Davis.

Taskmaste is great; but my favorite second stringer was the Answer; after getting owned by Spidey a few times he came up with a configuration of his poweres and kicked the living bleep out of spidey worst than anyone ever. At the end he had to reconfigure his powers to self sacrifice and save the world from destruction; but hopefully; he has an answer for that two; I loved the way that guy talked; he put all pro wrestlers to shame heeh :)

Hero second stringers, well I always liked Powerman and Ironfist and Master of Kung Fu; but they had their own titles so dont really think of them as second stringers; so I would have to say Nova; or Kid Nova; or whatever he is calling himself in the New Warriors; been a while; he has been through some stuff; tuff but not overly tuff; been in a few wars; just couldnt pull of his own title; liked him and namorita in new warriors; but i doubt he will be on anyones A list but mine.
