:) thanks much

Verily, thanks are not needed. All should know the goodness that comes from the Son of Odin:-)

up to 4 Norse dieties and Thor now; hmm; anyone wanna bet Thor finds some women next? Sif? guess he is trying not to remember the Enchantress, but she always was hot for Thor and did all kinds of stuff to get him to notice her in a ahem; special way.

Is the new one out yet?

Valegrim wrote:

Thor #4 is out, but # 5 seems to be set to go at the end of December on the 28th according to the Marvel site.

Argh; the 28th; sigh; thanks.

Sigh; so far away; that week is gonna be big one i hope; the 26th for me and the 28th for comics.

well, off to attempt to get the new comic; hope Sif is next :)

So what did you think Valegrim?

Spoiler alert:

I think the cover lied; hehe.; am curious as to what is being laid in foundation; I have always liked the Enchantress and she has always had a mad crush on Thor and Doom in the works is a mystery.

This last issue was quite different. I think Thor will have some new dynamic relationships going on and I like that the mythos is still intact unlike the retcon tripe that Quesada is pushing off in Spiderman.

it is interesting that some of the mythos are regenerating differently; Loki was Thor's half brother; now his sister or what hehe.

So when does the next Thor come out; arent we waiting for number 6? is it late; what is the deal anyone know?

Sheesh Feb 26 next release date; some of the upcomming covers look cool.

Qadira (RPG Superstar 2010 Top 16)

The most recent issue came out yesterday. It's important, and advances the plot, but slowly.

Spoiler:

So, Thor's been gradually "rebirthing" the good and kindly Aesir, but not the villainous ones.

Last issue, Loki managed to trick Thor into hastily "rebirthing" a great many Aesir, only to find out that they were all the bad guys. Loki himself manifested as a woman, more to allay Thor's concerns than anything else.

This issue, Thor exhausts himself by "rebirthing" all the rest of Asgard, including, he believes, Odin.

Which he thinks might have some unfortunate ramifications.

But that only takes up a few pages. The bulk of this issue is taken with some fun vignettes about the normal people of the rural town where Asgard now hovers, and their dealings with their new neighbors. The first one opens with the local town meeting, where Volstagg represents the Aesir and explains what Asgard does with its wastewater.

woot; now just awaiting the next one; is thor knocked out; dead; is Loki a bad guy; neutral; good guy; hmm somebody added some cornstarch; hehe indoor plumbing :)

well; the ending of Thor was pretty cool; quite a development...

They're due to start the new story arc soon: it'll be interesting to see the development of all these threads.

But I'll STILL be eagerly awaiting that little 'talk' with Tony:-)

I really hope they put these into a trade book collection...
I love these new Thor books!

hehe face down in the dirt; wonder what happens next :)

what is a trade book? am not clear on that...

Qadira (RPG Superstar 2010 Top 16)

Well, what happens next is that Thor is disabled and meets Odin on the plane of the dead.

Also this week, the collected "THOR: Blood Oath" book came out. Fun and deep at the same time.

That issue has some decent backstory on Odin in his youth. I'm concerned though about no mention or implication of Odin's brothers Vili and Ve which were integral in the creation of the Odin Force.

#7 isnt out yet right; is blood oath a comic or a novel? and yes I agree about the brothers, but Marvel hasnt ever really done much with them.

Blood Oath was a limited series now in TPB I assume.

Odin's brothers may not have been used much by Marvel but their few appearances are among the best in the title. Vili and Ve appeared in Thor #349, one of Simonson's best IMO. They were also in Thor #294 "The Origin of Odin" which is another excellent story involving the recursive Ragnaroks. (Although Odin's Eye may have been lying to Thor) Their omission wouldn't stall the comic as much as say bringing Uncle Ben back in Spiderman but it would still be a minor loss to long time readers such as me.

Anyone wondering if Marvel is going to do a Thor movie; if they do then they can do Avengers #1 and introduce Giantman and Wasp in the opening - all the others have movies; remember Cap didnt join till like issue 5

July looks like an awesome month for a Thor fan!!! First Thor faces off aganist the Red Hulk (Hulk #5) and then this:

SECRET INVASION # 4
The Story: The world has turned upside down! The Skrulls have taken the Earth as part of their empire, the Avengers and Initiative are scattered...but there are two people who want some answers. One has a hammer and one has a shield.

Qadira (RPG Superstar 2010 Top 16)

Regarding this week's issue of THOR: Whoah!

It seems to me that, with Loki managing to get all the "bad guy" Asgardians resurrected, and with keeping Sif hidden...

Spoiler:

"Mrs. Chambers", indeed!

... that Loki is coming off as much smarter and much more evil than typical.

Spoiler:

The word is that Marvel wants to do one. Their goal is just as you suggest: an Avengers movie, with established actors playing different heroes. For example, Robert Downey Jr. would continue to be Iron Man. There's also a good Easter Egg at the end of the Iron Man movie you'll want to see that talks about this a little, though it's more of a tie-in with the Ultimates universe.

Spoiler:
Namely, Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury. Looks and sounds quite a bit like the Ultimates Nick Fury for the few moments we see him on screen.

Check the Wikipedia entry for the Iron Man character and films.

what was the Easter EGG? I watched the movie; should I have stayed through all the credits?

OH, YES.

Valegrim wrote:

The Easter Egg . . .

Spoiler:
Tony walks back into his living room to find someone from SHIELD waiting for him. It's a tall black man with an eyepatch (Nick Fury, Ultimates version) portrayed by Samuel L. Jackson. Fury tells him that he's now part of a whole new world and that he wants to talk to Tony about 'the Avengers Initiative'.

Valegrim wrote:

Sigh! Valegrim, you really need to check with me on these things, even I knew of the after credits scene. All you need to do is email every time you want to go do something and I will tell if it is allright or not and how you should do it. I promise that you will always have the maximum amount of entertainment value at the cost of my ultimate bossyness. I think you need to make it up to me now. Perhaps you could change the oil in my car for me.

Marvel announced as part of their first quarter report that there will be a Thor movie released in June of 2010, on the heels of an Iron Man sequel released on April 30th that year. The following summer (2011) will be The First Avenger: Captain America in May and The Avengers in June/July.

Word is that the Iron Man sequel may set up the Thor movie a bit. No word yet on the casting of Thor (or Cap), but the Iron Man, Thor, and Cap films all lead in to and will have the same actors as the Avengers movie. There's an article up about it (including the press release of the quarterly report and movie announcements from Marvel) at the Newsarama site.

hehe you have no idea what your in for lol; my life is a circus

Exactly what act does your life resemble the most?

the the highs and lows of the poor sucker shot out of a cannon.

If yall have a chance get Thor: Ages of Thunder. Its a one shot supposedly and the stories in it are rooted in Norse mythology with a Marvel twist. It also have a map of the Nine Worlds, real cool. p.s. Thor kicks ALOT of ass in this one, he's actually quite an arrogant bastard, but thats part of the myths. Check it out.

hehe does he have a chariot/sled pulled by goats? what are the nine worlds? In marvel; the whole reason he is sent to midgard is to learn humility; Odin sentenced him to be tied to the body of Don Blake; a cripple who aids others and is kind as a punishment.

I think he does have the goats. I loaned out my issue so I cant give any answers. One thing that is quirky and you'd have to see it for yourself is the stories are set in different cycles or 'Ragnaroks' of the Asgard. So the gods' incarnations might vary subtly but their roles generally stay the same.

cool cool

so what Thor are we up to yet; is 10 out?

Well; just read #9; have mixed feelings about it. I like Balder and the other guys; but think Thor should be in his own comic a bit more. Is taking some getting use to thinking his is leader, progenitor, and the responsible guy of the Norse pantheon. Next couple issues should be interesting.

sigh; just waiting in thor #10; is it out? has anyone seen the two Marvel animated movies of the Avengers? I bought the first one; am considering buying the second one; but the black panther storyline doesnt really interest me; is it any good?

Alright; so Thor is like on hold during secret invasion; just to make a few cameos in secret invasion; what is up with that; is this true; whats the deal anyone?

Valegrim wrote:

Haven't seen #10 yet, have had to fall back on the two "one-offs" recently. Reign of Blood was pretty sick, I must say.

I have both Avengers films and the second was a bit of a disappointment. Same alien menace, predictable Wakanda scenario, and
Spoiler:
Giant Man dies, redeeming himself after being a total prick
. I thought that the Iron Man animated film was pretty decent but found Doctor Strange to be uninspiring. I usually buy the Marvel films, but balked at Dr. Strange.

Valegrim wrote:

Nope not really as there's a Thor: Secret Invasion mini coming so as to not derail the storyline in the main title, plus he's prominently on the front of issue 5 I think as the new Cap and Thor get together with Iron Man to lead the fight back.

interesting; considering the threats that Thor made to Ironman after he left Tony laying in the mud all busted up.

In Secret Invasion #4, we see several enhanced Skrulls suddenly get struck by lightning from above and then the outline of Thor as he floats overhead. Cap watches this through a set of binoculars and then starts running somewhere. The line on the Marvel site said something like "Two men have come for answers. One has a hammer, the other has a shield."

But you're right Valegrim: Thor's interactions with Tony will probably be along the lines of "I'm fighting to protect humanity, so I'll tolerate your assistance, but don't make me more irritable than I already am."

am thinking that the host of viking heroes and dieties now in Midgard, OK are probably iching for a fight and some action; I would like to see them teamed with some of the townies outside Midgard and have at the skrulls :)
