Interesting concept. Here's a couple things that come to mind immediately that need to be addressed:
1) Sorcerer + low charisma?
2) Given that the character is a) part orc and b) of fiendish origin there would have to be a solid reason why he wasn't simply thrown into the forge rather than raised to work it. Dwarves, even outcasts, are loathe to contaminate themselves.
3) FYI, you would be the second sorcerer (and third arcane caster) in the group.
A couple more character archetypes (no back-story):
Svea, LG female human monk (personable, adhering to strong moral code, seeks out adventure to hone her skills)
Bolgrim the Massive, CN male dwarf barbarian (unpredictable, lives on the fringes of dwarven society, adventures out of boredom)
Amina Iandoli, LN female human fighter (stern, lives for combat, conscript of the dwarven army)
Shariv Kellan, CN male human fighter (self-centered yet easygoing, focuses on light weaponry and speed, adventures for profit)

Ahh... I couldn't find a party roster, and I wasn't sure of the composition of the group.
Speaking of which, how is the party broken down, as it is?
Ah, sorry. Here's the group thus far:
Iliana Lanar, female human paladin
Erius Shadowbane, male human paladin
Ren Kaidar, N male human fighter variant
Remy “Fatespinner” Elantris, NG male human sorcerer (destined bloodline)
Leya Brackleberry, NG female halfling diviner (I'm not certain of the status of this player at the current time.)
Iliana, Erius, and Leya are all residents of the human village of Three Oaks. The others are visiting during the harvest festival.

I'm liking the monk idea. I could come up with a secret order devoted to Erda, the nature goddess. The order would be covert, as they revere a pagan goddess, but learning to fight unarmed as an oppressed people makes sense.
The dwarf would add an interesting element to the party, given that most are human, and suspicious of dwarves at best. It would make for a fun dynamic.
The human fighter, again, would provide an interesting dynamic, mainly due to the alignment difference. He could actually be working with the Hand of Jorin, a covert paladin order, but for his own gain rather than belief in their goals.

Which do you think would work best in the current situation?

I'd say run with either the monk or the dwarf. Given the events I have set up for the immediate future, the monk might be the better choice, mechanically speaking. As for story, it's a toss-up.

I'll go with the monk, then. PFRPG rules, right?

Cool. Also, my internet connection has issues with Invisible Castle, so I use a random number generation program on my graphing calculator. Is that alright?

Ooh! Paizo just incorporated a random die roller into their BBCode:
1d20 ⇒ 12

Sweet. I'll let the other players know, if they don't already. I need to bump the thread anyway. Hopefully we'll get moving slightly faster than the glacial pace we're keeping at the moment.
Fixed. Seems a little unbalanced, but I'm not complaining.

Trust me; you'll be glad of those stats by the time I'm done with the lot of you-- I mean, you're heroes! You need to be impressive and shiny to scare the monsters.
Character stats, appearance, and personality are up. Do you want me to put up a background right now, or can I join in the game?
Shadowborn(Male Human, mostly English Major 4/ Creative Writer 4/ Grad student (prestige class) 2)
We can have you jump on in. I've got a partial background for you that will make it easy to get you involved. I'll go ahead and give you an introductory post to get you started.

To my players:
In order to keep combat flowing on the chance that we have late or infrequent posts, I'm thinking we should try to frontload combat a bit.
My general idea is to have initiative rolls followed by a brief overview of battle plans from the player, citing how their character wants to approach the battle, giving a starting action and an idea of what they wish to do from there. That way, if they're delayed and don't post soon when their initiative comes up, I can fill in and take action for them based on what they had planned.
I don't plan on working this way unless it gets to be more than a day or two between posts, weekends being an exception.
Also, we'll stick with the method of rolling to hit and damage simultaneously. That seems to work well in this format.
Already done. I shot you an intro post about halfway down page 3.
So... just join in?

Given the background that's been developed so far, you can jump in. You're headed from your monastery to the House of the Pearl. You'll be going solo until you meet the rest of the party there, which shouldn't take long. If you need any additional info, let me know and I'll make it happen.

Alright, cool, thanks. Sorry about that.

No problem, it just gave the others time to move forward toward a rendezvous with you.

One more question, and then I'll promise to get on the ball: what / how would be a good way to introduce my character into the game?

Well, once the other characters are at the shrine, you'll be present to hear the request for aid made to the other players. By then you'll have an idea that your quest is tied in with theirs.
If you want we can roleplay your journey to the shrine from your monastery as well. It will get you involved in a cutscene sort of way, while they finish up with events at the harvest festival...not to mention keeping the thread from falling into obscurity.

Hey all, so I'm moving today, and after talking to the new cable company odds are my internet access will be spotty at best until next Saturday, the 7th.
GM please DMPC if any key actions combats etc occur.
See you guys soon.

Ack, I completely missed this, sorry. I wasn't online much Halloween weekend and the thread got buried before I saw it. Here's hoping you're back on the board soon.

Ok, I'm reposting my original introduction, and setting you on your path to your intended destination. Presumably, you'll reach it the same time as the other PCs.

No worries. I just didn't want you to fall to far behind in the story.

How are my players doing? We seemed to be building up a decent pace in the game for a while there, and now its been pretty much a standstill for nearly a week. Please don't hesitate to let me know if there are circumstances that will be keeping you off the boards.
Ideally, I'd like to see this game reach a point where it gets a post or two a day by each player. Even if it just amounts to role-playing between characters, it will keep things fresh.

Life's been kicking my ass lately. I've been home from college, and between my two jobs, Wayfinder #2, and my girlfriend, I've barely had time to post. My internet life should be back down to a manageable level by next week. Sorry about that.
Shadowborn(Male Human, mostly English Major 4/ Creative Writer 4/ Grad student (prestige class) 2)
Fair enough, I was just a little bummed because all my players but one have been incommunicado.
Still here also, haven't posted much because I haven't been able to really figure out what to do next. It seems some DM nudging may be in order. Though I could be wrong.
Alright, I'm back to normal. Sort of. Should be able to get back on a semi-regular posting schedule, at any rate. I'm very sorry about the long hiatus.
