Ok, the final 6. Truth be told, I had received the last of the submissions last night, and had a tentative list, waiting to see if anymore came in today.
This was very, very difficult, so do NOT be disappointed if you are not did not make it. In the end, I had to go to my Wednesday night group to vote on the final spots, where I just couldn't decide. So here it is:
If you are not on the list, thanks again for submitting, I really enjoyed reading all of the backgrounds. Don't go anywhere. Statistically, we will lose 2 players inside of 30 days due to RL. I will post a new recruitment thread as needed.
I will be opening the IC thread today, and beginning the story. Please create an alias for your PC, if you haven't already done so. The "official" start date is Monday, but if we are ready before then, we will go. I would like the players to begin posting with a description of yourself, and a reason you are in Sandpoint at this time. Feel free to post before your profile is finished. We can get the RP going that way.
I will be using the spoiler codes during play, please DO NOT read them if you are not "eligible". It will be more fun if there are unknowns, trust me.
If there are any other questions, post on this thread..
Greetings fellow players, may we wreak terrible voilence upon our foes and attain great honor together!
My character is a young, tattooed Kellid who grew up in Sandpoint, and is returning to start a search for heroism and adventure enough to shame his ancestors and forefathers!
I'll have my profile completed in a few hours, as I'm going away for a bit now!
Pietro is a charming Varisian wanderer, outcast from his clan after being wrongly accused in the death of a romantic rival. He has come to Sandpoint to honor his goddess, Desna, at the Swallowtail Festival.
Greetings all, Rogar is a dwarf (as if you couldn't tell by his picture) and hails from the town of Janderhoff in the foothills of the Mindspin Mountains. His father is a priest of Torag (and a mighty fine Craftsman to boot). Due to this, Rogar has grown up in the temple as a craftsman himself and has recently taken up the mantle of cleric. He has been asked by the temple to come and see the dedication of the new church in Sandpoint.
I'm assuming 20 pt point buy for stats in a party this large? Yes? Contradict me if I'm wrong!
Also, adding to Str=
1d2 ⇒ 2
EDIT: Can I take Hallit in addition to Common as a racial language? It's the native tongue of the Kellid people, and I don't have the Int for a bonus language, its not a game breaker, as its unlikely to show up much/at all in Varisia.

20 pt buy is fine. There are actually 3 methods I've outlined in the recruitment thread. Any of these is ok. Hallit is fine, I'm ok with things that add flavor, just let me know first.
Okay, who else is a local, Khalad grew up in sandpoint, though he is not Chelaxian, and his mother was a Kellid and all that any other Sandpoint local would know is on my now completed character sheet.
I know Yelena is local, and Rogar isn't how about everyone else?

Thank ye! I think my trait selection accurately represents Khalad aswell! and he's got a decent charisma!
The party spellslinger is definitely a local (called 'Shukhov' by those who know her.) Foundling. Raised by cleric of Abadar. The whole shtick. She is of Chelaxian descent and may have been abandoned due to some prominent infernal features. She specializes in enchantment magic and can usually be counted on to charm, bluff, or distract her opponents long enough to let her friends stab them in the back.
I let my players add 1d2 to one stat after creation. It must go into your "primary stat". STR for fighters, CHA for sorcerors etc. I like it for adding a level of exceptionality to a PC. Destined for greatness and all that. My main problem with this (having used it twice now) is that not all classes have clear-cut "primary stats". Not a show-stopper by any means, we can work it out.
When deciding the primary stat for a Cleric, which would you prefer Wisdom or Charisma??? Wisdom aids in the spell area, but Charisma is used for Channeling Energy.

Either stat is okay. They are equally important in my mind under the PF rules. Prior to that channeling, CHA wasn't as important as Wis. You choose.
Hey-ho, All! Gimblethorp Boddynock here, or 'Gimble' for short if you prefer. I've been traveling with a Varisian caravan for the past few months, and I've been amazed at all of the wonders I've seen outside of the Sanos Forest. Our group just rolled into Sandpoint, and what do you know, there's a party! This should be fun before we head off down the road again. I wonder if this town has a book store...
Hey gang! Torillan Ellandilas here, resident head-basher. Tor's a half-elf merc who arrived with a small caravan out of Korvosa a few days ago, and he decided to hang out for a bit to see if some other work pops up. Hearing about the upcoming festival sounded interesting, too...

Oo! He's 41! Nice! Did you use the aging stat adjustements?
Its a town of 1200, essentially a border town at that. Add in the fact that Yelena and Khalad would have "unique" appearances, I'd say they would probably know each other pretty well. They would not necessarily "fit in", and being on the outside of acceptable society (such as it is in a small town) would put them together more often than not. Not open prejudice, mind you, frontier towns can't afford that. The Scarnettis are definately NOT your friends.
Shukhov has noticed Khalad before. Nice fellow, in all, but always thought him to be a reckless sort of person. And returning with barbarian tattoos all over himself? Tsk, tsk.
P.S. Thanks! Snooping around DeviantArt always produces some good character pictures.

Yep, that pic is a winner. There is actually one close to that on these boards.

Tor's a half-elf, so middle age doesn't creep in until he's 62. And to be honest, I just chose that age (its how old I am) instead of rolling. Like me, Torillan's been around a bit....

Tor, did you roll the extra 1d2 to add to your STR?
As a side note, I'm writing long prose posts in IC as story development. I'm not sure if some/none/all of you may be familiar with the AP. We have time, I like to do it, hopefully it is somewhat enjoyable.
Feedback welcome at any time btw. Increased frequency of Bad Guy crits after negative comments is purely coincidental...

I think your description so far has been awesome, GM. I'm enjoying the role-playing so far as well. A promising start!

Thanks, much appreciated. I am following your CoT pretty closely, btw. love it so far. How do you create your maps? Looks like Excel to me.
Yep, it's Excel. When they're done, I hit printscreen to copy, paste the image into MS Paint, crop out the unneeded parts, save as a JPG, then upload to Photobucket. With some practice, it doesn't really take all that long.
I must say that I'm having a blast. So thank you Old Guy GM and everyone else in the game. I look forward to seeing the post everyday to see the wonderful interaction that takes place.
Looks like everyone is ready, I know Pietro will go up soon. Double check that you have the following:
the 1d2 in primary stat
2 traits
bonuses for favorite class
racial bonuses (especially humans, I always forget the skill bonus)
racial bonus to hp
Great interaction so far, looks like this will be a great ride.
I am enjoying it, too. I'm having a little trouble finding another trait that would be good for Torillan. I took Reactionary from the Basid: Combat list, and I need to choose from another list for my second choice. Nothing is jumping out at me so far. I do have some of the Companions, and there may be one or two from the Taldor that might work.
Don't really know why this is so hard a choice for me..... :/
Ok all, great stuff. Tomorrow is the start. Pietro, if you have a character sheet that is easier for you to fill and link, go ahead and do so. That way you can take time to complete the alias - that page is time consuming. If you have any issues, email me.
We have a good vibe going, don't want to lose any of you!
