Its a bit like flying a plane, most of the danger is in taking off and landing. I just thought it was a good way to get the PC's interacting, even if that means Kurn and Jorgen aren't on each others Christmas Card lists now.
How are you guys enjoying this?
Cheers

Apart from worrying that we may have to swim ashore, it's great!
I've started to put together the crew on my French Wolf profile, just to help Anya find a bedmate, it seems.
Cheers

Haha! A bedmate? What makes you think she'd be satisfied with just one?? She's got a lot of stamina that girl ;-)
But seriously, that kind of stuff is just for flavor and fun, I didn't intend to get into any graphic details or anything and I can easily leave it out entirely if it offends anyone's sensibilities : )
Other than that, ya, off to a great start FW!

... and there was me getting out popcorn and doughnuts ...
FW I've had 2 busy days at work and full evenings with another coming up tomorrow, sorry. I've been keeping up, but haven't had a chance to post more than a cursory message.
I'm beat and going to bed and won't get another chance to Post for another day. I don't mind if either you or Mark play Saorise until I get a chance to post again. I was actually going to sugggest that she use an Arctic Blast or create ice to try and stop the fire, so feel free to go with that if you like.
I quite understand, flash. Don't worry about it, we have a bit of lull now, so pick it up in a few days. All I ever ask is that people let me know if they have Real Life grabbing them by the......
Its a shame because I had gradually built up the action over the last few days, but that's life.
Anyway now my mother-in-law has gone home I guess I'll be alot busier with my son. He is off pre-school (nursery) this week and the weather is rubbish at the moment. Rain. Lots of it.
Just a little reminder to everyone, I have a second one coming along sometime in May and so there will probably be an enforced break from the running the game for a while.
Thanks for the positive comments lads, the start well off okay from my point of view, but my only regret was not having more crew to free up more of the party.
Cheers

Just to let folks know I will be away over the weekend and my posting may be slow or even non-existant for the next few days!
Dabbler(This IS the internet you know ... Alegedly human Expert (IT) 5/Ninja 3/Witch 7)
Good to see you back, and the pace of the game quickens which is always a good sign.
As a heads up, I am working tonight so no posting flurry from me, and this weekend I'll be trying to slot....sorry, test.......Brett and MarkL characters in the Temple of Elemental Evil so there is will be spotty posting towards Friday.
Cheers

sorry to butt in fellas, but had some time today without family around (i have a cold), and spent some time perusing the boards, even managed to post in a few discussion threads.
Found this thread and thought I'd drop in to say hi to those of you I played with while in the PbP threads. Hoping this one works out for you FW, looks great so far, though haven't been able to read it all.
Well, off again, will try and pick up on the story when/if I get more time in the next couple of weeks
Ha. Almost worth the trip...but afraid I'm gonna have to pass on this one then ;-)
They managed without you, in fact, made mincemeat of my 10th level cleric, Lareth the Beautiful. Next time, they face something much nastier....the final battle. April 10th!
I throw out four charm spells, and they saved against all of them. Booo!
Cheers
EDIT: In fact the three gelatinous cubes proved almost as dangerous.

Wrath! Hey man, nice ta see you still hanging around every now and then.
If you ever do get something going again, lemme know, as it was a pleasure gaming with ya.
FW, woulda loved to be there, but glad you all had fun. Hope your're able to kick some more PC butt next time ;-)
OK I'm soooo sorry for my absence this past week.
Work was a nightmare but has slowed down, Air Con was broken at work, but is now fixed and I am back to feeling a bit more like myself after doing 10hr days in 35 degree (Celcius) heat.
I'm going to spend tonight catching up on my PbPs I've neglected this past week and be ready to get back into the swing of things.
Right I'm back. I'll post up in the the game thread when I get a chance today or at worse tomorrow. Its half-term and my son has his own ideas on how to spend my time.
Any chance of having a quick post of where everyone and everything is at this moment. ie The chest, The trapdoor, Ice Monster, Party etc per map co-ordinates

Done. But I should check the Stealth skill for trying to move and stay unnoticed. It used to be very difficult....
Hey all, I'm still tracking this thread and the game thread when time allows. Just popping in to wish you and your family all the best on the imminent new arrival FW. Enjoy the moment :)
Been following this as well..here if anyone is interested is the way to patch a hull at sea
"FOTHERING, a peculiar method of endeavouring to stop a leak in the bottom of a ship while she is afloat, either under sail or at anchor. It is usually performed in the following manner: a basket is filled with ashes, cinders, and chopped rope-yarns, bonette lardée, Fr. and loosely covered with a piece of canvas; to this is fastened a long pole, by which it is plunged repeatedly in the water, as close as possible to the place where the leak is conjectured to lie. The oakum, or chopped rope-yarns, being thus gradually shaken through the twigs, or over the top of the basket, are frequently sucked into the hole along with the water, so that the leak becomes immediately choaked, and the future entrance of the water is thereby prevented."
Thanks to a combination of sheer hard work and great seamanship after hitting the reef, Cook managed to get the badly damaged Endeavour ashore. The whole ship’s crew toiled on the pumps and threw overboard expendable heavy objects stored in the hold, such as spare anchors and cannons, to make the ship lighter. They also carried out fothering which involved hauling a large piece of sail cloth over the hole to stop the flood of sea water.
Cook described the process:
“The leak now decreaseth but for fear it should break out again we got the Sail ready fill’d for fothering. The manner this is done is thus, we Mix ockam & wool together and chop it up small and than stick it loosly by handfulls all over the sail and throw over it sheeps dung or other filth. Horse dung for this purpose is the best. The sail thus prepared is hauld under the Ships bottom by ropes and if the place of the leak is uncertain it must be hauld from one part of her bottom to another until the place is found where it takes effect; while the sail is under the Ship the ockam & ca. is washed off and part of it carried along with the water into the leak and in part stops up the hole.” (Cook, Journals, 1, 12-13 June 1770
My son is better but my wife got worse and has gone into hospital today with a chest infection. It shouldn't take too long to get her back on track and then there is the small matter of giving birth.
I'll keep you posted although this stuff is low priority this week.
Cheers

Hey hadn't been to check the OOC for a while but this is good timing for me. Computers still on the fritz and am on vacation right now as my folks are here to visit. That part is great and the resort we're at is beautiful but they charge SEVEN dollars an hour just to use the net! For something that costs them virtually Nothing! Highway robbery I say...anyway, just needed to vent a tad, thanks! ; )
But on to more important things, Congrats on the upcoming addition to your family FW! Must be a wonderful, magical (and tiring and nerve wracking ; ) time for you all...so all the best to you and yours!

I use a mobile computer (a netbook) hooked up to my mobile phone. Costs virtually nothing and is close to broadband speed.
