If Aub OR Shaggy want to run Dark Sun in 4E, I'd play!
I actually picked up a holiday combo of both the 4E PHB & PHB2 in a 2-for-1 package deal. As much as I've moaned about it, I have friends playing it, and it was a decent deal.
BTW, I am about to get SLAMMED here at work, so posting may be irregular for the next 2 weeks. I SHOULD have time to post daily, but they won't be my usual novelettes. ;P

OK, just to let you guys know, I will be about for the next two days, though interrupted by travel (heading back to the UK tomorrow evening US time). Then I will be incommunicado for a week while on holiday in France. Then I will be back, but patchy (travelling back to the US again) for a week after. Hopefully, after all of that, my great journey will be over.
I was seriously considering (still am) doing Kingmaker as a PbP, although I still haven't read it yet so I can't be sure (but it has me palpitating with anticipation). I'd probably prefer to do it as a 4e conversion since that would (ironically) probably be easier on the prep time but if you are doing the 4e Dark Sun we could run it side by side. 4e frenzy.

I'd get all that convertin' done sooner than later, then...the first 8 weeks postpartum is a looloo til the little squawker can sleep half the damn night.
I’m definitely interested in Kingmaker, not quite so sure about 4e – its not so much that I’m dead against the system, more that I don’t want to spend my hard earned tomatoes – uh, sorry, money, on the books or DDI thing, given that I’m pretty unlikely to play the system outside of this one game. Also, I rely almost totally on SRDs for these online games, and I’m not sure such is available for 4e (apart from the subscription).

Well, if you understand 3e, you can play 4e with little problem and no real need to buy any books, at least from the outset, to get a feel for the system. I play with a group of co-workers and they don't know 3e, 4e or indeed any -e (maybe first edition for one or two in the dim and distant mists of time) and don't own any of the books. What a PC can do is down in large part to the their daily, encouter and at-will powers and you can simply write those out on the character sheet. There would be the issue of character creation but we could discuss that and create something that felt right, I'm sure. Like I say, all you need is the PHB if you want to buy a book at all.
Ah, you talked me into it. Count me in. I'll see how it goes and maybe pick up the PHB down the track.
Wow, so your current group are all new converts (or people picking up the game after a long hiatus)? I can't seem to find anyone my age(ish) to introduce to the game. Don't know what I'm doing wrong. Maybe its the Seoni costume ...
Well, I've got the occasional group which are my co-workers - I was surprised to find a load of people in my own department so keen. We've played a few sessions and it's generally been good. That said, one of my co-workers (who I also knew from a previous job) was a very big wheel in British RuneQuest in the 90s (he was heavily involved in the Tales of the Reaching Moon RQ fanzine which ran for about ten issues back then) so I wasn't surprised he was interested, but the response from the others was a surprise. We had a couple drop out for personal reasons, but then a new secondee from the US (and a Mormon, no less) showed up at the same time and it turned out he was a keen player too. But I think it is fair to say they are my "second" group - my main group are the guys I have gamed with for maybe eight or nine years in the Midlands. We play more regularly and thay have actually bought the books, unlike the London crew.
Audit is nerdy, but then I suspect architecture is too. Try and find that comic fanatic - he (or she) will likely be easy prey to your blandishments.
Nah, architects generally like to think they’re cool and trendy (in many cases they are, but often it just makes them wankers). Of my colleagues here, one of the interior designers is somewhat into sci-fi and fantasy as a movie genre, but her eyes tend to glaze over when I start talking about rpgs.

So … you’re serious on this? I mean, I know I keep hearing (and I believe it) that prep time is waaay down in 4e, but surely there’d be a reasonable amount of effort involved in converting? More than simply running it from the box as PF?
EDIT: Not trying to talk you out of going 4e - you know what will be easier for you better than me, and as we both know you want things to run smoothly if you are trying to run 3 pbp games. Just trying to wrap my mind around the statement.
I might have to create some NPCs, but there is a streamlined process for that. I might have to level up or down monsters so they are level appropriate, but one of the DDI applications does that for you. For those who need help creating their characters, I' use another DDI application. I might have to create some new monsters, but the guidelines for that are fairly straightforward. There is no IT help with PF, and the system is more complex in how the bits interrelate when creating stuff So, all in all, I wouldn't really expect it to be too bad. I'll make more use of stock monsters and re-skin them, I suspect, as necessary.
Ah, heck,... Sign me up too! (Either one, or both! A game with you guys is WAY too good a chance to pass up!) :)

I do have the 4E PHB & PHBII, but only because I saw them at the store in a 2-for-1 holiday gift bundle. I figured they wouldn't get any better priced than that! But otherwise, yeah, I'm with Moth, I just don't see myself using the DDI enough to sign up and actually spend money on it! The tools are cool (I did give them all a test drive when the free sign-up was out) but I'm too tight on money to spend it on stuff I'm not using!
