(Male Human (mostly) Mystic Theurge)

Post your characters here and we'll see where that takes us. I'll post some more information shortly, but it would probably help a lot checking this thread.

Is there any limits on races? (ie could I be a Tengu or a tiefling etc). To be clear I was thinking of playing a Tengu rogue.

Andoran (Human (Minkai) Samurai (sword saint) 7 (Order of the Warrior))

I'm really enamored of this idea I have for a human evoker.

Human Sorceror still deciding on bloodline.

I have several ideas but the one I'm leaning towards right now is some kind of half-orc.

edit: unless BT will let us use monster PC races :)

Seri here, brought over by Thalyn. Was told there is a spot open for me to fill so I'm jumping on in here. :)

I'll wait on the verdict for what the racial restrictions are before deciding that part of my character. If we're keeping things relatively vanilla I'll probably go with human or half-elf.

Are we using only what's in the book or can we try out the new classes that Paizo is test-running? Oracle looks interesting.

(Male Human (mostly) Mystic Theurge)

Tengu is fine, Oracle is fine. Other monster races on a case-by-case basis, but keep it relatively vanilla, please.

Andoran (Human (Minkai) Samurai (sword saint) 7 (Order of the Warrior))

Looking things over at the moment, it looks like:

Dark Arioch - human barbarian
Shisumo - human evoker
Gerald - human (?) sorcerer
Kevin Mack - tengu rogue
Seri - (human? half-elf?) oracle (?)

plus

Allan_Treebeard
Kevin-Eric Bouchard
Thalyn

all with concepts still indeterminate.

Looks like if Seri takes some healing spells, we have all the core bases covered, but if my memory serves me well, we could really use some more up-front meatshield action, and possibly a character or two with actual channel energy ability (a cleric, in other words, at these levels), because we are going to be facing some seriously murderous undead.

I'll build a Barbarian/Cleric.

Well I've narrowed things down to Half-Orc Barb/Sorc or Human Paladin. Both bring muscle to the table and additional magic. I'm leaning towards the barb/sorc right now. Anything for or against either?

Actually that was supposed to Half-Orc Barb/Witch

Well, if Kevin B is building a barbarian/cleric the barbarian/witch may be a little redundant. Also if you build a human paladin you could play Vladoff, which would give some continuity. You are free to develop him as you please (including the name). That's my SEK 0.02 at least. Do as you please.

Touche.

How about an Aasimar Paladin from Qadira or the local equevilant?

Hey there Black Tom!

I'd be interested in playing one of the classes from the APG if there's room

As to which class would depend on what everyone else plays of course.

Anyways, just throwing my name in the hat

(Male Human (mostly) Mystic Theurge)

Hullo Memento. You are welcome to join.

By the way, I'd appreciate if everyone could have their characters more or less ready by the weekend, and we might get some actual violence done before the holidays.

thalyn: Aasimar is fine, but the local equivalent of Qadira is too far away to make sense. You could be Viridian, though. That would make you green-skinned (at least a tinge) and a member of an old and corrupt empire. I hope that appeals to you.

Mine should be done tonight - most of it is already worked out in my head - but I do have a quick question for background purposes: is there an arcane academy of some kind in Warwik?

Yes, there is.

I'll get mine ready over the weekend as well. It might be late on Sunday before its ready, as work is a little busy this week.

Yes, there is.

What's it called?

(Male Aasimar Paladin 2)

Thalyn here. This is my Paladin. Let me know what you think.

"Ah, yes, hello, ah, Badru, is it? It's a pleasure. My name is Rhianna, and this is Jobe. We are... oh! Oh my! Forgive me, but are you aware that your consanguineity shows remarkable phenotypical attributes common to outsiders of the so-called 'Upper' Planes? Though, to be quite honest, I'm not certain what linguistic justification there might be for such a phyical directional term in the metaphysical context of planar metagraphical morphology. The common tongue quite simply isn't constructed to adequately express concepts so discrete from the mundane Prime Material perceptual framework, despite intersections such as yours! This is why I personally prefer a mathematical relation - in truth, the planes to which I refer would be best described as the 'G set,' as connoted by various planar trait similarities and relatively symptotic interplanar travel requirements. I believe that, with some relatively straightforward work, I could..."

"AHEM."

"What? Oh, ah, yes. Thank you, Jobe. Yes. Ah, we are pleased to make your acquaintance, Mr. Badru."

Usually it's just called "The Wizard's Academy". It's full name is "The Warwik Academy of Wizardry, Alchemy and Arcane Knowledge".

Ah heck with it think I'll just redo Felicia but give her a diffrent name

Sounds great!

I'll have something up by the weekend

(Male Dwarf Rogue 5)

Let's hope this time , Kaka'ra will let the professionals take time to find traps before rushing in ...
But knowing her ....

With a surprised look, "We have professionals?!"

(Male Human (mostly) Mystic Theurge)

Since we're getting somewhere I'll open a game thread for some preliminary role-playing and banter. The premise is that you are gathered at the temple of Sarenrae [formerly the Temple of the Sun], being part of a task force to clear out the nest of undead that is terrorizing the region.

Ka'kara is doing this to pay for her Restoration. Sandros got the same offer, but declined, partly for reasons of honor, and partly to avoid being indebted to high priest Thaban (who you may remember as not an altogether nice person), so he and Vladoff decided to use the DeVere resources to find help elsewhere.

Off-game I'll have to remark that Barakus has finally proven a bit too big and unwieldy for a PBP. If you like you could go on looking for Fenton, but unless I make major changes, it will take ages before you get anywhere interesting. So I decided to skip over to Morrick Mansion instead, which is a bit less dungeon-y but just as fun. Hope you don't mind.

The party as I see it at the moment is: from the old gang, Ka'kara, Roylenna and Mahaffy. New recruits are Tika, Rhianna, Badru and Artival. If Kevin-Éric and Seri get their characters together by the weekend we're good to go. You can post directly in the game thread.

The rest of you I will try to slot in as soon as possible, but it looks rather crowded at the moment.

(Female Halfling Bard 6)

Just to clarify Tika is just the old felicia with a new name since I re purposed the original for another game thread. I was going to keep background etc If that would be to much of a problem I'll rewrite her

Tika wrote:

I'm happy to see Felicia under any name, and be sure to keep your xp score if you can find it.

(Male Human (mostly) Mystic Theurge)

By the way, you all get to keep your hero points (meaning that Rhianna will inherit Sandros's points). New characters will start with 2 points (with a possible bonus for useful backgrounds).

We have a professional Chatterbox Tika and a non professional one Roylenna ...

By the way , BT , how was the situation with my axe resolved ?
If at all possible I would like to have it identified ...

Your companions managed to persuade the high priest to take the time to cast Remove Curse on you, pledging you too to the clearing of the crypt. Unfortunately one side effect of that is that you can never wield that axe again, or the voices will come back. You could still have it identified if you want to shill out the money.

(Female Halfling Bard 6)

okay Tika is all finished

BT:

Spoiler:
Just as a FYI. The energy drain allows for a new save every day to get rid of its effects now. So, at most she would be laid up for a few days recovering instead of a pricey Restoration spell. That being said I have no problem with the approach and tie in you are using. After all, it makes sense to Ka'kara that a shaman would have to cleanse her spirit of the undead taint. Really is just an FYI in case you were unaware.

(Male Human (mostly) Mystic Theurge)

Dark Arioch wrote:

Spoiler:
I disagree. Undead like wights give permanent negative levels. See Energy drain on p. 562, last paragraph, and Wight in the Bestiary.

BT:

Spoiler:
You are correct. I found clarification on page 299-300 in the bestiary. Was under the impression the energy drain ability of most Pathfinder undead critters was now a temporary drain. Thought it was changed for Pathfinder but I stand corrected and will correct that in the games I run too. Thanks.

(Male Human (mostly) Mystic Theurge)

The weekend is approaching, and on Monday morning (European time) I'll kick off the action. The characters who are done by then and who have introduced themselves in the game thread will be joining the raid on the crypt. Others will have to wait until there is an opening.

(Female
Spoiler:
Tiefling
Oracle/2)

All right, here is my Oracle character, Manai. In the morning, I'll double-check everything to make sure it's right and then I'll jump into the game. :)

Sorry, but you can't take the Exotic Weapon Proficiency, since you only have a BAB of 0 at level 1. Other than that, she looks fine.

Aw, sadness! All right, I'll fix that.

(Male Human Sorceror 6)

Artival's backstory and things will be done by late tomorrow at the latest, BT.

I would like to retract my name from the list. I won't have time to play. I'm sorry.

(Male Human Sorceror 6)

Artival is ready for review, BT.

Artival Brisboir wrote:

Looks good to me. Your background would make it reasonable to assume that you are of Alryan descent (the city people of the north), but the only difference is that you get a racial +1 to Spot and that you can count Diplomacy and Sense Motive as class skills. Of course you could also be of mixed blood (generic human). Feel free to jump in and introduce yourself.

(Male Human (mostly) Mystic Theurge)

We have eight characters then, which is great. If anyone else wants to play and can have a character done by Monday you are welcome to join for the battle royale, but I can't promise any continuation into Morrick Mansion. Of course if there are enough characters I could run another party as I did before. There is still plenty of adventure to be had (and Fenton is still missing...).

You are a bit heavy on arcanists but I think you'll be fine. There is no cleric but several backup healers. Just a word to Ka'kara: For God's sake, woman, put on some armor!

The game is on!

(Female Halfling Sorcerer 6 (celestial))

"Hey, wait! When did the party come over here! I've been over watching the other thread, waiting for developments, and you were all over here the hold time. Sheesh!"

Thanks, robin, for pointing out to me that the discussion and game threads were up and running. I missed the announcement in my constant state of distraction lately.

I just realised that Invisible Castle is down. How is erveryone rolling dice these days?

1d20 + 7 ⇒ (10) + 7 = 17

We got a diceroller!

Check the BBCode spoiler at the bottom of the posting screen for an explanation for how it works.

Sweet! Thanks man :)

Hey have you seen the new Pathfinder Companion Seeker of Secrets? They have a whole section on Ioun stones several pages long. Most groups I've played with never really cared for them. But the article showed me something new that I never would have thought of. Using the dull gray used up stones to cast spells like light or silence on. They still float around your head so you get the benefit and still have the use of both your hands. I thought that was pretty cool. Don't know why I didn't think of that.
