Cool! I look forward to getting into more ED choices/options.
That's one of the things that is a problem with PbP, things do not advance quickly. You don't want to be at 1st level for 6 months...
EXACTLY! it's about accelerating the story. So I will probably award you enough Legend Points to advance to 2nd circle after this, obviously, this is different than normal Earthdawn of course, but in PbP games I want to get to 4th or 5th circle as fast as we can.
A note on dice roller cheating. If I catch you cheating, I won't kick you out or possibly even let you know, but you will most likely be at the wrong end of an attack or horror mark before any others, make it a good story element.
First circle characters aren't going to be gods, you will fail lots of rolls.
I had a character in an Earthdawn game, his nickname became "Almost" because he almost made lots of rolls, he almost won the tournament in Kratas, he almost killed the boggob, he almost made it to the store and back....

How do you cheat at dice rolling?
You enter the code and post. You don't know what you roll until it posts...
It seems like it isn't possible to me, but you wouldn't bring it up if that were the case...

Making more than 1 roll on IC...then posting the best one...

Oh.
I always logged in when I used it. It kept every roll under your account. Totally easy to check back and see what you rolled. Pretty useful after a while plus neat to see a couple of months of rolls all listed together.
I like paizo's dice roller better because I don't have to go to another site to roll. Super conveinent.
I think you can spend your Karma points on any of your Discipline Talents - which for you look like Melee Weapons, Parry, Taunt and Maneuver. 1 point of Karma grants you an extra D6 on the Talent roll.

Correct. Normally you spend Karma before you roll, but seeing this is PbP, and you can just edit it anyway, so we'll make them like Action Dice, you can add them to a close roll for a Discipline talent.
Sorry I missed my turn. Having spotted the stalactite, I knew Solonchak wouldn't have much hope of doing anything, given his dreadful DEX so I was holding off in case someone else could try instead. No matter.

We killed beauty in 1 round?!?!
We rule!
I thought I was dead...
OK, time to man up and say the game has temporarily failed the fun test for me. Not, I hasten to add, due to the GM, but down to me making the wrong choice of character. I've done it before (and maybe some of you have too): new game system, something catches your eye, you make up a PC and it just doesn't work out like you planned. That's where I am currently with Solonchak.
I don't want to walk away from it as we've got a good group, and I've been wanting to play ED for so long, so I'd like to request what we veterans of the living circuit might call a rebuild - as we're not too far into the game, change Discipline to something else, while keeping the overall flavour.
Amenable to that as GM and fellow players? I'd like to go for Elementalist (which one of the other players called dibs on early then never showed up, but by which time I'd picked something else).

I would rather you change up your char and play something else than not play.
My vote: Yes, it cool by me.

By all means, make whatever character you like. Do you want me to kill Solonchak, or would you prefer to keep Solonchak as a rebuild?
No thanks, I just want a rebuild. Having not actually used a single Discipline talent yet (and only a couple of skills) it should be a straightforward rebuild - can you remind me, is it standard point buy as in the book for stats?
I looked over the old thread and spotted that someone had offered to play a Tskrang Elementalist, then never showed. Grrrr! So I'm planning on converting Solonchak to Elementalist. Most of the skills will transfer, and with Fenswalder being a wizard there should be some nice synergy.
I'll work on it tonight (by which time the combat may be done) and just continue as if nothing has happened ;)
A couple of minor tweaks and I'm ready to go. I've tried to keep the crafting motif by taking Craft Armour and Craft Weapons as skills, and I figured although he won't be very good due to his DEX, a bit of skill with weapons to reflect the training he did in the past.
Much prefer this version, can see lots of potential, and I had a look at Fenswalder's spells to try and complement them. I've noticed there are quite a few spells on my list that have 0 threads and/or can be cast on the fly with rolls of 7 or 10, so I'll take 2 'difficult' spells in my matrices, and if I have to use the others, use karma if necessary.

On the fly?...do you mean Raw? Casting Raw is like a beacon to the astral planes, to the horrors that dwell there, casting raw can have physical repercussions if cast in tainted areas...swapping spells in a matrix takes 10 minutes of meditation, or rolling the more difficult threadweaving number to swap the spell.
I mean by all means, if you ever want to cast raw...go for it...it will make the game....interesting...short but interesting...kinda like flinging a grenade in an elevator in Paranoia, only you don't have clones in Earthdawn...
I love how Earthdawn Named Horrors are so Lovecraftean in power...like Verjigorm...mmmmmm corrupted dragon horrors...
I've actually managed to get some time off work, which is surprising, but welcome. I won't be able to post again til the 6th so go ahead and make any necessary rolls/decisions for Solonchak. This round he will be completing the Earth Darts - in the absence of anything else he will repeat the spell on his next actions.

"You can use a recovery test now as well."
How do I do that? (don't have my book on me...)
Txoro, Could you also post my current wound boxes? Or is the one in your profile current?
Also, if you could point me to the page area for spending LP that would be cool too.

So if I understand correctly, when we have a few days to rest/train I will:
Improve Karma Ritual from 1 -> 2 (200 LP)
Improve Mystic Aim from 1 -> 2 (200 LP)
Learn Throwing Weapons 0 -> 1 (100 LP)
Improve Throwing Weapons from 1 -> 2 (200 LP)
Improve True Shot from 1-> 2 (200 LP)
Improve True Shot from 2-> 3 (300 LP)
Perform Karma Ritual to gain 8 Karma (80 LP)
Begin practicing Artisan (Fletching) to one day be better at it (need 3 weeks practice, then 2 weeks of training)
I just wanted to apologize to all of you. I think its probably best if I bowed out of the game, since I feel I'm being a drag on it. I think Txoro has done a fine job with it.
Doing a pbem was a bit of an experiment for me, as I did it with Amber for almost a decade.. but I didn't know how a "diced" game would feel. There's nothing wrong with the format as I know many people enjoy the heck out of it. However I'm not contributing enough for it to be fair to the GM and the other players.
I hope there is no hard feelings and I hope that experience continues to be a good one for everyone.

Bummer to see you go.
I played Amber for years... I finally completed my Amberzine collection!

For a recovery test, you roll your recovery (toughness step) the result is the amount of boxes you heal. [wounds are recovered only after a complete night's rest or with magical healing...such as a healing potion.)
Yes, the current hit points in my Txoro profile is where you're at.
OK, you'll need to hold my hand on spending LP. Do you need all your talents at Rank 2 to be able to advance to Circle 2? Presumably that would include Spell Matrices, but you could still have 1st level spells in them if you wish?

Burial rites would probably vary by kaer and region, I don't remember any mention of them in any book I've read. If a kaer had a problem with cadaver men in the past, then I'm sure the dead would be treated more completely than a kaer that hadn't. Whether that would be with crypts, or with pyres, who knows.
OK, made all the increases as per previous post, plus bought Fire Heal 1, took Spell Matrix as my Talent Option (@ rank 2) and used the last of my points to increase my Physician skill by 1. Do we get the free spell for increasing a circle? If so, I've pencilled in Slow Metal Weapon.
Profile is updated if the GM would care to peruse it for errors.

I'm looking at the XP spending rules...
I'll work on it in the next few days.
I hope it was OK. I really had no idea what sort of style to write in or what you were looking for, so thanks for that.
I see we're down a player again - I'm still very keen to keep going as I've had a bit of a bad run lately in my pbps, got a bit down with a couple and quit when I should probably have just taken a break.
Worth another re-recruit? Are my 2 remaining cohorts still up for the challenge?
So we're down to 3 active players, I'll try to recruit 1 or 2 more, the village is the perfect place to swap out players. Down-time will be increased to allow you time to finish learning skills, no silver cost in the village for any of the training.
fray(M carbon based dice form graphic guy 10 / geek 5 / collector 6 / daddy 2 / GM 4)
Yeah, recruit away. I like this game.
I'm moving next weekend, which is why I've been slow to upgrade/spend my XP. But I'm not going anywhere.
