About how much do those cost? If I decide to use them, I may have to give up some other eq, since I'm fairly certain I'm too low on money.
75 credits. Practically nothing. Make room for them *nodnod*

No, Christine is playing Savilo, but we're using the same computer so it doesn't make sense to have separate accounts with Paizo. I just uploaded the char while she was at work today.
Is Steve playing favorites here and allowing her to start at level 4 while the rest of us are stuck at level 3 or did someone make a goof?
Mrr. That was my bad. All the mechanics were calculated for level 3 but I typed Pally 4 for some reason. Apologies. Also She will have a better description when Christine writes it. I was just putting something in the blank.

Neat. I'll have to swap stuff out at Zack&Ali's this weekend then; I don't have the slightest idea off of the top of my head what some of my gear costs.

Mmm, that's right, I need to write a physical description of Rakti... although, in general, she looks like her avatar, keke.
Hello all. No, I hadn't disappeared. I've gotten my used copies of the Dragonstar books (Thanks Amazon!). I'll be putting together my completed backstory tonight. I do apologize for not replying immediately to your query last week, but school decided to take two weeks and kick me around repeatedly.
Also, the tweaked version of my character sheet will be submitted tonight, containing a non-placeholder name, stats using Keenbladed weapons, and making sure I have all the batteries/ammo I need for my gear. For instance, I didn't know you need a propellant cartridge on top of bullets when I made my sheet. Which still seems silly to me, really. What's wrong with gunpowder? Even caseless ammo uses gunpowder.
I apologize for not posting in the thread earlier, but I didn't feel like I had much to contribute to the conversation. (Except the check in, which I missed due to the aforementioned school ass-kickery).

How reliably do you think you'll be able to post now that school has weighed in? I don't want to seem like a slave-driver, but I want to avoid as much of the bogged-down feeling of PbP games as possible. Your character is definitely both interesting and viable, and I want you to be in the game if you're going to be able to. But these last few weeks has me a little worried - are we only going to see you intermittently?

I can certainly afford time to play: Checking in and posting once or twice a day (depending on everyone else's posts) doesn't take much time (and is something I can do from work, which helps). It's things like digging through PC gen to get Keenblade to work and rewriting backstory that take time, but I believe I have my homework back under control. Also, char sheet is done.
Oh yeah, this is my monkish avatar, for those who have yet to see and recognize, yo.
Oh, just in case you didn't know. My character is a Tech-Priest of the Smith. He's weapons. He's warhammers. He's Spells. He's Lawful Neutral. HE IS RELIGIOUS BEEFCAKE

Hehe, we're both LN and religious. Rakti's dedicated to the Warrior.

He's wielding a 'Light Steel Shield', which does nothing in the Dragonstar setting against projectile weapons of either conventional or energy base. Just FYI. Melee defense only.

To be fair, it's not /strictly/ melee defense. It can protect against bows and crossbows too, which some might still use. It also looks kinda cool and can be used to shield bash people.

What does, then?
Shield of Faith. ;)

Steve, Ian, and Sasha:
I need you to check out this thread and give me some feedback as to whether or not my games look the same from the players' eyes as they do from mine. Locke, unfortunately, I don't think you've played in enough of my games to make an accurate judgement (in fact, I think I've only ever run one game for you and it got cut short... hopefully that will change soon).

I'm banking on the weekend of the 20th. I have other things to finish for the weekend of the 14th (and it's my/Zack's birthday, so there will be a lot of not-being-here, I suspect), so the 20th seems like the more preferable option.

Actually, I'm not going anywhere or doing anything for my birthday. I'll be at home, playing EVE and aging, most likely.

I don't think my roommates are going to let the occasion pass unmarked, but I don't think we're doing anything spectacular.
LOL I'm not doing anything for my birthday either. Well, my parents are making dinner and my sisters and brother-in-law will be there... probably Lisa too since she's my sister's roomie and just kind of randomly got incorporated into the family... but that's it. I don't have the energy for a party this year. F!#*ing school. >.<
Besides, 22 is no fun.... :(

Everyone else is going to have fun camping for my birthday.
Honestly, I'm really looking forward to the Dark Ages Marathon. Smokie and I were talking after the Oktoberfest party and we decided that, since Ali will be gone for 3 weeks, we're going to double-up on Dark Ages every week that she's not there. That means Dark Ages on Friday and Saturday every week for 3 weeks. Sweetness!

Hey, the invitation still stands for you to go! :D We may actually be doing a day trip instead and doing some BBQing/smore-making. Mmmm.....

The infant is still the prime difficulty here and driving that far for a day trip is not something I would want to do in my car. You see, I don't have cruise control and when we went to Sedona a few weeks ago, my leg nearly atrophied and fell off.

That sounds horrid. We had cruise control on the big moving van that Mike and I drove up here, but we only *discovered* this fact around Salt Lake City, having passed through Las Vegas and half of Utah on sheer leg-hate.
Why would your little pokècar not have cruise control?

Because it's the basic package. Cruise control not included. I didn't really know that when I bought it (cruise control is one of those things that I just thought every car must have) and now I'm kinda stuck with it.
Okay. Back on track for a minute, I'm going to attempt to pour out a few things that Ian (JackDaedalus) and I have sort of started to take for granted, but which I realize have not been posted up here on the boards.
1) Arcane Spellcasting Components.
They're dumb. Like, really dumb. Dumb like 'bat guano = fireball' is dumb. Rather than require that Wizards (especially in a technologically, and presumably magically advanced setting) are still carrying around frogs' legs and b&!#@$+, each school of magic (Divination, Transmutation, abjuration, etc) requires a specific arcane focus, which is specific to the character (and probably inherited from the academy where one learned wizardry).
2) 'Blaster' is a silly word. I think we should replace it with 'Plasma,' or perhaps 'Ion' since we're talking about Electricty damage.
3) The relative sizes of ships in the back of the Dragonstar book are a bit too scrawny for my taste, and I tend to envision and describe the ships as being much, much larger. Disregard the sizes and crew compliments of ships as written up there. The words will be the same, and will imply relative size - Frigate, Destroyer, Cruiser, Heavy Cruiser, Battleship, Dreadnought, etc. - but these are naval vessels of a large-scale, heavily industrialized spacefaring racial collective. Rather than a 'crew of 2,000' for the Dreadnoughts, envision such ships as being the size of large cities, places so big that populations exist on them, live, work, sleep, establish entire communities, have families and die without ever touching down on a planet.
4) Psionics exist, and are a part of the game-world, with all that that entails. They are not available as PCs for this game, so it's not like I'm suddenly changing the ground-rules. Just a heads-up.
There are others, and I'll probably update this a bit as we get closer to launching the game in a week or two.

A pipe bomb made of lightsabre chainsaws, then? Or a lightsabre chainsaw made of pipe bombs?
The latter sounds a good deal more formidable than the former, so.... a lightsabre chainsaw made of pipe bombs. *nodnod*

Remotely back on-topic, the arcanists don't need specific spell components any more, but do the divine casters? I can see that, especially since my character is no-tech, I might still need to carry around my twigs and berries.

No, clerics simply cast through their holy symbol rather than having distinct 'schools.'
NOTEWORTHY in both cases:
Material components and focuses costing over 50gp are still necessary, divine and arcane.
Druids don't have a holy symbol, per se. 'Natural' divine spellcasters should think of some emblem of their order that they channel through.

I'll be using a twig from an ancient oak tree, then. It fits with the order he came from.

guard that twig, eh?
"Hurry Elan! He's losing consciousness!"
"Never fear I have a Cure Serious Wounds Prep- *snap* ohshit. Uhm, any one have any tape?"
Meh, the twig's integrity isn't what fuels the magic, it's the essence of the item itself. A broken twig is still a twig, and that's all that matters.
Unless the DM has other thoughts?
Mm, it would need to be an item. As a symbol, a twig is emblematic of a greater natural thing. ...so the symbol of a broken twig is going to have pretty opposite significance, I'd say.
It needs to be a twig from an ancient tree, and it needs to be replaced from time to time. There might be bonuses involved if you get the tree to give it up willingly, too...
