Since we're throwing in a few rules from Pathfinder Final as opposed to the beta, do you want to go with everything that we know for sure at this point? Like being able to choose your favored class regardless of race?

In order to not have to continually update our characters, I'd rather stick with sources that have actually been officially published (like the Bonus Bestiary), and stay away from the Paizo blog updates and the messageboards. I'm dealing with a bunch of stat blocks for this adventure that are updated for the beta and for your increased numbers. I'd rather not have to update them again until after GenCon.

Looks good. Take a quick look at your skills. Even though Knowledge (dungeoneering) is a class skill for you, it can't be used untrained, so you'd have to put a rank into it to use it. Also, double check the math for "Bluff".

Likewise.

Another "yes" for using the crit/fumble decks! Should be fun!

(Male Human Inquisitor of Abadar)

Alright, I think I got all the crunch in there...need to work on the fluff tonight when I have access to all the books and what not.
Need to pick one trait, still...
I took the Arcane duelest alternative (so gave up the free scribe scroll), but then I went and just took scribe scroll for my first level feat---Im assuming there isn't an issue with this, but just wanted to clear it up.
Also, just wanted to get the DMs perspective on Hand of the Apprentice (its rather vague as written). I think it works like this: standard action to appear at you with your weapon drawn, then if you haven't moved, it can move 15 ft. After that, as long as I concentrate, I can move it 15 ft and attack (or 30 feet with no attack). When its dismissed, or I lose concentration, it returns the weapon to me. Also, it otherwise functions like mage hand (and can do the things mage hand can).

(Male Halfling Monk 5 (Maneuver Master))

Ok, added equipment, gold, and fixed CMD. Sadly, at a -2 from the beta score.

I have no problem with that.

It is more than a little confusing. As stated, summoning the hand is a standard action. If you summon it next to you it can then draw a weapon from you as a free action. Concentrating on the spell every round is a standard action, and moving it is a move action. This means that it can't make a "double move", as you only have one move action available every round. I consider using the weapon to attack as part of the standard action required for concentration.

I'm done with my sheet (except maybe for the gear). I took the bard alternate class feature from the PF Campaign Setting, so don't expect a lot of bardic knowledge from ol' Gornak...

(Male Dwarf Fighter/1)

Got most of my sheet done except for buying equipment and stuff. Should finalize everything by tomorrow.

I think my sheet is mostly done. If you get a chance, could you give it a look over for me, BrOp?

Hmm...from the blog it looks like there will be some interesting changes in store for Gornak the bard, provided he can survive until August!

(Mail OK, I'll race ya! Bard 4/Expert 2)

Character sheets look good so far. The dwarf (sorry, I forgot the name) should double-check hit points. Remember to add your Con score.

We can probably start pretty soon, as its not necessary to have all the tees crossed and eyes dotted to begin. The little stuff can be filled in as we go along.

Con score? Not just Con bonus?

Just chiming in to let you know I'm still here. I'll get my character converted today.

Thumparr Ironfist wrote:

Correct, Con score. From the previews on the Paizo blog, it looks like that particular beta feature will be going away, so try to get into as many fights as possible before GenCon! :)

Done, and tweaked STR and CON a point each.

'Bout ready to roll.

I think I have everything done except my equipment at this point.

Taldor (Male variable 12th lvl Dm/5th level fanboy/3rd Lvl Pedant)

hmm..additional HP was an optional rule and they tend not to get used in previews so don't assume it's going away with final. I'm waiting for the rogue and dreading how much the whining about them being too powerful will have nerfed the class back towards being just the party door opener.

Incidentally Brop where do you stand on sneak attack damage in iterative attacks..I've always held that it should only be applied once to any attack sequence but take effect should any attack hit

I can agree with that.

Any prediction on when we will be starting?

Kappasc wrote:

I was just about to ask the same thing. :-)

(Mail OK, I'll race ya! Bard 4/Expert 2)

Very soon. I am still writing up back stories for everyone to serve as a little intro. I'll let everyone know when they are done.

(Mail OK, I'll race ya! Bard 4/Expert 2)

Kappasc: Have you chosen your spells yet? I don't see them on your character sheet.

(Mail OK, I'll race ya! Bard 4/Expert 2)

Sevegny Veilstar still seems to be statted up for 3.5. Do you have access to the beta rules, JZ?

Yes I do. I've corrected my saving throws. Does anything else look wrong?

(Mail OK, I'll race ya! Bard 4/Expert 2)

Sevegny Veilstar wrote:

A few minor things:

Turn undead is now called Channel Energy and you can perform it 6/day in a 30' burst. Undead must make a DC 15 Will save or flee for 1d4+3 rounds.

You gain two domain powers: Bit of Luck(Su) and Copy Cat(Su).

Your Alignment Aura is Chaotic.

You haven't assigned your free skill point in Craft or Profession, and your free skill point from Favored Class. You could also turn that last bonus into a bonus hit point. (Cleric gives you 2, Human gives you 1, Favored Class gives you 1 skill or hit point, 1 free in Craft or Profession from me)

Got it. thank you!

(Male Dwarf Fighter/1)

Checking in from Virginia - probably the last time I'll be able to access until Monday evening. Hope everyone has a nice, safe weekend.

Sadly I have your intro finished, but not that of everyone else, so I'll probably be posting the opening tomorrow. Not to worry, the beginning will move slowly. I promise not to start anything too interesting until Monday :)

It has begun! You are invited to join us IC at the Gold Goblin Gambling Hall for the "Cheat the Devil and Take His Gold" tournament.

PLEASE PLACE YOUR BETS!

(Mail OK, I'll race ya! Bard 4/Expert 2)

I'm going to continue this "intro" part of the adventure until everyone has had a chance to post a few times. If things slow down a lot I'll push things along.

Sorry for the delay in posting. I always procrastinate on my very first post in a new game. Not sure why.

Maybe it's like that first jump into a cool pool/river/ocean. You know you'll be fine once you're swimming, but it's going to be cold for a while :)

I'm working all day so no posts until late this evening EST.

Speaking of which, and just out of curiosity, what time zones are people writing in from? As I mentioned above, I'm on the East Coast of the US.

Branding Opportunity wrote:

EST in Canada.

Central time, US

(Male Dwarf Fighter/1)

East Coast - North Carolina.

I travel between time zones a lot. So "where I am" is a bit of a mess for me.

BTW, is Melissa a guy or a gal?

Sevegny Veilstar wrote:

The way I see it, it's a girl who dresses as a guy, for various political reasons (i.e. street cred). I guess maybe she thinks she'll be taken more seriously as a boy than a girl, which was a common enough idea in medieval/renaissance literature that I could see it happening in fantasy worlds such as this.

Taldor (Male variable 12th lvl Dm/5th level fanboy/3rd Lvl Pedant)

Melissa has reasons to be dressed as a boy which might be discovered within the roleplay.

In many ways she is my take on the classic Shakespearean girl disguised as a boy..eg Viola in 12th night..think Kiera Knightly doing the Gwyneth Paltrow role from Shakespeare in love and you won't be far off it.

lol..wait till we get to girl disguised as a boy disguised as a girl then everyone will be confused.

I'm confused already. Not that getting me to that point takes much some days.

As for time zones, I'm posting from Japan, which puts me at UTC/GMT +9 hours!

(Male Elf Ranger 1)

Currently at GMT +8 but will be returnng to my homeland within the next week or so, that would be Pacific Standard Time.

(Male Human Inquisitor of Abadar)

Posting for the East Coast!

(Mail OK, I'll race ya! Bard 4/Expert 2)

Busy few days ... talk amongst yourself. Will make long post tomorrow eve (EDT).

Taldor (Male variable 12th lvl Dm/5th level fanboy/3rd Lvl Pedant)

And I'm on GMT so I'll almost always seem to be reacting late to you guys

I sense a disturbingly funny friendship between a dwarf and a half-orc brewing. This is good stuff. Hehe...maybe I should ask them if they wanna wrestle. Watching a half-orc get pinned by a halfling would be hilarious.

(Male Mountain man Woodsman Bard/ 4)

Bring it on over, man! Thumparr ain't wrestled a halfing since he caught one trying to pinch him when he first arrived in town. :)

So he hasn't wrestled a halfling since he last caught one trying to steal from him in Riddleport? So...a total of 30 minutes? I guess that is a long time to go without a fight for a Dwarf :P

Damn straight! :)

But, since he just laughed in Gornak's face, it might be coming real soon! LOL!

Haha! I like where this is going. If they start brawling Ebe is so going to jump in to break it up...which will mean grappling the half-orc. And if that works, well then hilarity ensues. That and he's guaranteed himself a job.

(Mail OK, I'll race ya! Bard 4/Expert 2)

I thought I was going to have some time tonight, but other duties called. Apologies.

Branding Opportunity wrote:

No worries. We're having a good ol' time at this here shin-dig. That and Ebe's really enjoying gazing deeply into the eyes of a certain halfling girl...and he doesn't even know her name! Ah, the joys of youth.

I'm also waiting for a brawl to break out to finally interrupt his flirting ;)
