Mitnal completly fails to lay fingers on the swift goblin.
Eugen presses down the stairs and into the room. Though he can't quite manuever for a flank, his sword slices the goblin, who shrieks, dropping his crossbow. He begins reaching for the axe at his belt.
Did Jessa's ray of frost have any effect? As a diviner, she's capable of acting in every surprise round due to her class ability. Some sort of precognition type of thing, I guess.

Worried about running out of spells I look around to make sure there are no un-noticed dangers lurking.

Hrmm. I think I'm going to have to say that she couldn't see the goblin, precognition or no. You had Mitnal, then Eugen, then Kenzo, then Gyorgy and Jessa, all in a thin set of steps. The goblin attacked as soon as Mitnal opened the door which means Jessa would have to fire down the stairs, past Kenzo, Eugen and Mitnal; and around the corner.
Gyorgy sees no dangers where he is at.
The goblin draws out his ax and swings it at Eugen's thigh.
Attack:1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18 damage:1d4 ⇒ 3
With Eugen out of the way, Kenzo has room to move into the room, around the corner and attack.
Jessa follows through, looking about for any other threats and leaving the struggling goblin to Kenzo and Mitnal since they seem to have him well in hand. With the gobin's yell, she also looks for any other exits in the event others might come to its aid.
Jessa sees no other immediate dangers as she moves into the room. The southern wall of this room is a bank of cells with iron doors, six in all. The rest of the room is obviously a torture chamber; a rack sits against the far wall, an iron maiden stands to the north, and a fire pit smolders below a spiky cage dangling from a chain in the ceiling to the east.

I hang back, put off by the creepy room and trusting my brawny friends to defeat the goblin.
Mitnal(Male Human of the Shoanti Shriikirri-Quah Tribe Barbarian 3)
Mitnal tries to maintain his grip. "I've got him Jeslara; go ahead. Ask your questions."
"Questions? What are you talking about? I don't want to ask that thing any questions!" Jessa replies, backing away from the struggling combatants, "Just kill him before he hurts someone!"
Even as Jessa makes her statement, Blackwing heeds his mistress' call and takes advantage of Mitnal's grapple of the goblin to fly in and scatch at it.
From my understanding of the grappled condition under the new Pathfinder combat maneuver rules, Blackwing should get some decent advantages on this attack. Thankfully, a grappled creature can no longer take attacks of opportunity, so that should let the bird fly in unthreatened. And, since the goblin takes a significant Dex penalty to his AC, hopefully that makes it easier to score a hit.
I raise my weapon, bleeding from my axe wound and still in the rhythm of battle.
"oh, um... hm." It occurs to me that it might be impolite to kill the goblin while Mitnal is trying to pin him. I lower my sword slowly while pretending to just be stretching. "(yawn), how's it coming Mitnal? (ow, wince), does he know anything interesting?"
In the event that he slips out of Mitnal's grasp, I make the following attack.
Jessa's lips tighten as the grim memory of the goblin attacks on Sandpoint fill her mind.
"Heladoviga," she breathes out the frosty curse and gestures at the restrained creature.
Casting ray of frost...presumably as a coup de grace type of attack, but if he's still considered in melee, I'll roll the ranged touch attack as well...
Ranged touch attack with ray of frost (penalized for firing into melee?)...1d20 - 1 ⇒ (19) - 1 = 18 Initial damage... 1d3 ⇒ 1 Automatic critical damage, if coup de grace is in effect... 1d3 ⇒ 3

"By the storing room, past art room. Table in there. Lots of little things. No good things. Can't eat with them or fight with them. But Nualia thinks they help free big goblin."
"He says he knows where Nualia's at...down some secret stairs," Jessa explains for everyone else, unsure of who speaks goblin, "He's describing several rooms we must pass to get there...a storeroom, some kind of room full of art, and so on. Perhaps we should just have him show us the way? Provided, of course, one of you can control him."
Mitnal(Male Human of the Shoanti Shriikirri-Quah Tribe Barbarian 3)
Mitnal, having correctly deduced that Jeslara would want to talk to the goblin, stands proudly, arms across his chest, and stares significantly at Kenzo and Eugen. 'Told you so,' he thinks.
"Yeah," Kenzo replies to Mitnal's comment, "but who would have thought it would talk to her?" Turning to Jessa, the monk gestures with his hands and adds, "Do you actually understand all that?"
Gyorgy recollects that the room they battled the bugbear and Lyrie in contained a table with numerous small artifacts and pieces of rock, all of them in the process of being packed up.

"So, there's some kind of huge goblin hidden away that Nualia and Lyrie are using Thassilonian runes and magic stones to release. And this thing's going to be used against Sandpoint?"
I look around at my peers: "Even if we can't find the secret door, maybe we should chuck those rocks in the sea?"

Mitnal glares at Gyorgy, "I'm sure those pieces of rock are some kind of treasure. First, she," nodding to Jeslara, "prefers talking to killing. Next, you want to throw the treasure into the sea. What part of 'kill them and take their stuff' do you guys have trouble understanding?"
"First things first," Kenzo says with a chuckle. "We're here to stop Nualia. Let's find her. What should we do with him?" he finishes with a nod toward the goblin. "Mitnal? How hungry are you?"
"First things first," Kenzo says with a chuckle. "We're here to stop Nualia. Let's find her."
"Yes, but Mitnal has a point," Jessa interrupts, "My whole reason for coming to Sandpoint was to explore and document Thassilonian ruins. And, though the complex under the Glassworks will certainly keep me busy for awhile, this place is just as fascinating, particularly if they've already retrieved and documented some of the artifacts. It's a huge archaeological opportunity!"

Jessa shrugs.
"I don't trust him," she notes, "And the depredations these goblins have caused...paired with the fact that they very much intend to threaten Sandpoint again by razing it to the ground with the aid of Nualia and her so-called 'big' goblin...well, it all leaves me rather indifferent to his plight. I'm not one for murdering helpless people, obviously. But these goblins have shown themselves to be anything but helpless...and they don't qualify as 'people' given what they've done."
"Cold or not," she directs her remark at Mitnal because of his prior comment, "It's reality."

"I won't complain about killing goblins. Just careful where you aim that finger."

I am leaving on a two week vacation today. My posting will be somewhat spotty on some days. Please do not think I have lost interest in the game. We are drawing closer to a conclusion. I will continue to post during my trip. NPC me or play me as need be.
"Well, we need to find that secret door if we're going to head off Nualia before she can implement her evil plan," Jessa tells everyone, "Maybe we should bring this one with us? If we find the secret door on our own, we have no need of him. And, if we don't, then we make sure he shows it to us. After that, well...we'll figure that out as we go. Ready to move on, everybody?"
