Komana casts true strike on herself, drawing an arrow into her bow.

'Lead on Soven, my trust is in your blade.'

(m human (taldor) mnk1,ftr3)

sorry about the wait

Soven nods to Komana and moves down the corridor with his sword at the ready.

Okay, unless you all say differently, I'm assuming everyone followed Soven around the bend.

Soven:
I need you to make a perception check please. In spoiler.

Perception

Spoiler:
1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19

Iacobus follows quietly, weapon at the ready, fiery amulet blazing a flickering circle through the darkness before and behind.

"The close quarters will work against us. Focus your efforts on defending yourself if you must Soven, we will attempt to support your actions."

By that he means Fight Defensively or take Total Defense, if necessary, but I don't think there is in-game-speak for those actions.

(m human (taldor) mnk1,ftr3)

Soven procures the meaning of Iacobus's statement but finds himself reluctant to follow. His very soul burns with valor and eager anticipation of what is to come. Discipline sets in though and Soven heels in the heart-pounding magic that flows through him.
"This is better than Chelish devil wine and Shaonti Fire Whiskey!" Soven thinks to himself.

Perception:

Spoiler:
1d20 + 7 ⇒ (15) + 7 = 22

edit: sorry add two to that from heroism. thanks Iacobus :)

Soven:
You see a metal panel glinting in the dim light on the floor, though it is obvious that it was intended to be covered up by some sort of black paint.

Soven suddenly stops, his eyes riveted to the floor ahead of him.

(m human (taldor) mnk1,ftr3)

As soon as Soven stops, he holds out his hand and sword in a gesture clearly meaning stop at once.
Squinting at something on the floor before him, Soven looks back and informs the others:

There is metal plate of some sort on the floor, it is has been covered with black paint.

(Female Human Inquisitor 4)

'Bizarre,' this could be the beginning of the test. Komana eyes the ioun stone floating around her head, before casting detect magic on the metal plate.

Detect Magic:
The plate does not radiate magic.

(Female Human Inquisitor 4)

Komana moves closer to investigate.

Perception 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (15) + 12 = 27

The silver plate is plain. It is apparent that the black paint was intended to hide the silver plate to make it less visible in the darkness.

(Female Human Inquisitor 4)

'Let's not step in it, shall we?'

'Lead us on again, if you would, Soven.'

OOC:
An excellent suggestion which I know at least three of your party heard. I have no idea if Zareth or Dird followed Soven when he went around the twist in the corridor. If they had not, they might be too far away to hear your advice.

(Male Tiefling Wizard 5)

"Yes, that's definitely a good suggestion. Let's try not to set off any traps, shall we?"

Yes, I'm still here.

(m human (taldor) mnk1,ftr3)

Soven shrugs and smiles. After regaining a look of determination, Soven steps over the metal plate, giving it a wide clearance.
Upon stepping over and moving forward a bit, he looks back to make sure the rest do so without problem.
Upon that occurring, Soven moves forward at a moderate pace, sword still at the ready.

Iacobus also steps carefully over the plate when his turn comes up, and makes room for the next in line, offering a hand if necessary.

With everyone working together, the silver plate is easily avoided.

The corridor continues forward another sixty feet, then twists again in the opposite direction of the previous twist. It feels like the hallway is a long s-shaped wave.

A stone face fills the wall directly in front of you, its mouth open at the level of your head. The corridor twists to your right directly in front of the face on the wall.

Iacobus regards the stone face curiously. Does it resemble a local figure of reknown, an (in)famous Pathfinder, perhaps, or otehrwise have distinctive features?

Knowledge (arcane) 1 (+8), Knowledge (history) 1 (+8), Knowledge (local) 1 (+8), Knowledge (nobility) 1 (+8), Knowledge (religion) 1 (+8), as appropiate.

1d20 + 8 ⇒ (4) + 8 = 12

"Curious, the curves in this passageway. Such things take long months to construct, and a meaningless curve would be an unnecessary expense. Perhaps the passage bends to avoid support columns, or something similar..."

(Male Tiefling Wizard 5)

"Or to keep us from seeing too far ahead." Zareth looks at the face curiously before casting a spell and looking at it again.

Casting Detect Magic on it. Also, Knowledge(History, Nobility), can I tell anything about the face? 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (5) + 12 = 17

1d20 + 11 ⇒ (1) + 11 = 12

(Female Human Inquisitor 4)

'Be careful, gentlemen, that open mouth is making my skin crawl, its very likely some quite terrible trap.'

The face is strangely bereft of character and bears no resemblance to a person or personality.

Detect Magic:
The stone face has no magical aura.

"Indeed, Komana." Thank you Tomb of Horrors for traumatizing us all so! "And yet it seems a likely place to hide a key," Iacobus adds, holding his eldritch flame to the face to peer within said mouth.

(Male Tiefling Wizard 5)

"Well, whatever it is, it certainly isn't magic. Just be careful, that doesn't mean it couldn't take your hand off some other way."

It is too dark to see anything of interest within the mouth.

(Female Human Inquisitor 4)

'A password perhaps, I can't imagine it's simple ornamentation down here. Durvin Gest,' Komana says aloud with a clear voice.

Durvin Gest? The password from Dragon Age: Origins to awaken Shale? ROFLMAO!

The statuesque face remains still and silent.

(Female Human Inquisitor 4)

Buh? Durvin Gest is the most famous Pathfinder ever, I wasn't aware the name was used in Dragon Age.

You're probably right. I may have gotten the command words wrong. But it sounded familiar enough to make me think of it immediately.

There is a sound of stone grinding against stone somewhere in the corridor far behind you.

(m human (taldor) mnk1,ftr3)

Soven watches down the hall while the others investigate the stone face.
Upon hearing the stone grinding from behind them and down the hall, Soven stands ready.

(Female Human Inquisitor 4)

'That doesn't sound pleasant at all,' Komana says as she takes her ioun stone in her hand and holds it up towards the stone face.

"Sounds like there will be no going back, not that it was really an option..." Iacobus says dryly.

Taldor (Male Halfling Rogue 4)

Terribly sorry for not posting in so long, I've been sick yet AGAIN (third time this winter thus far) and struggling with my schedule.

"Hm, there's got to be some sort of trick to it."

Dird steps forward from his position at the back of the group, wearing a look of curious determination that seems out of place on his usually carefree features.

Careful to avoid touching anything, Dird searches the face for anything unusual, his keenly trained eyes looking for clues to the discomforting face.

Friendly reminder that Dird has the "Trap Spotter" talent, granting him a secret perception role to spot traps made by the DM when he comes within 10 feet of said trap.

Perception: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (17) + 10 = 27

I've been busy with work, so I know the feeling.

Ah, the person who might be able to shed some true light on the subject.

Trap Sense - Dird:

The open mouth of the face is aligned directly to the center of the corridor. If something were to come out of the mouth, such as a long range projectile, it could potentially effect everyone standing in this branch of the corridor. The narrowness of the corridor practically assures this. You can sense that this is the purpose for the face on the wall even though there is no noticable evidence to support this belief. You also sense that if it is a long range trap, the trigger for the trap would be further back in the corridor.

Taldor (Male Halfling Rogue 4)

Just to clarify, when you say

Spoiler:
"the trigger for the trap would be further back in the corridor," do you mean back as in the direction we came from, or ahead? I'm writing under the assumption of the latter, not the former, because it makes more sense. If that's wrong, I hope you'll let me retcon my actions to fit my updated knowledge.

After studying the face carefully, Dird follows it's empty gaze back in the direction from which we just came. His eyes linger and you can practically see the gears turning behind them, playing out scenario after scenario mentally.

Snapping back into reality, he turns to look back in the direction we are heading.

"I've got a real funny feeling about this, and I'm almost certain we've got a trap on our hands, but the trigger isn't here." He gestures into the darkness ahead.

"We proceed, but this time let me lead. With all due respect, Soven, I'd rather find the trigger before anybody has had a chance to set it off"

With that, Dird digs around in his bag for a moment, pulling out a sunrod and activating it. Sunrod in one hand, dagger in the other, he moves forward slowly, eyes and ears alert for anything out of the ordinary.

Perception moving forward: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (10) + 8 = 18

Dird:

I wish I had a graphics program, so I could show you. The corridor is snaking, first heading one direction then turning and facing the opposite. So there are large u-turn areas in the corridor where the corridor suddenly faces the other direction. The face is on the wall at one of these u-turn areas, facing the corridor that the party has just moved down. So it is likely that the trigger for the trap, if there is one, was already traveled over without apparent consequence.

Taldor (Male Halfling Rogue 4)

Spoiler:
Lightbulb lights up over my head, I can see what you're describing now. I'll leave my characters actions as they are, because there may well be more triggers ahead

"We may have passed the trigger for this part of the passage, but I doubt the Society would let us through that easily. Keep an eye out for more out of place panels and call out if you see anything at all!"

(Female Human Inquisitor 4)

'Onward ever onward then, as Dird says.'

Perception while moving 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (11) + 12 = 23

As the party heads around the twist, now moving down the next part of the corridor, there is a sudden sound of metal clinking and a large metal solid wall drops in place at the bend, cutting you off from the face in the wall.

A loud voice projects from overhead: "Lightning passed!"

By the way, you all have been earning experience, but I'd prefer to keep a personal tally instead of letting you all know how much you've earned. Needless to say, at the end of the Challenge of Legacy, you all will have raised a level.

(Male Tiefling Wizard 5)

"Hmm." Zareth taps the metal wall with his staff. "I'm not entirely sure whether I should be glad we passed the test, or worried that we can't go back. Well, nothing else to do here, so let's continue on, shall we?"

(Female Human Inquisitor 4)

'Absolutely, Soven, lead on would you?'

(m human (taldor) mnk1,ftr3)

Soven nods and turns to go.
As he proceeds forward, he looks at the halfling and smiles.
shall we take the front together?

Just a friendly reminder that the corridor you are walking down is a little less than 5 feet across. I'll allow both Dird and Soven to lead the party, but you both will be practically squeezing to walk by each other in the limited space.

The corridor ahead of you stretches forward into the darkness. It advances 60 feet, then twists in a familiar u-turn shape again. There is no face on the wall this time though.

Komana:
You hear something as you near the end of the corridor. There is a strange rattling noise on the other side of the wall.

(Female Human Inquisitor 4)

'Everbody stop!'

'Can you hear that?'

Perception1d20 + 12 ⇒ (3) + 12 = 15

Taldor (Male Halfling Rogue 4)

Dird freezes mid-step, one leg floating inches above the floor. His messy hair twitches in sync with the ears it covers.

Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (10) + 8 = 18

Iacobus tilts his head slightly to listen.

Perception 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18

Other than your own breath in the still corridor, you can hear nothing new. Whatever sounds Komana heard are no longer present.

(Female Human Inquisitor 4)

'I didn't like the sound of that, at all.'

(m human (taldor) mnk1,ftr3)

What did you hear, Komana? Shall we stay or move forward?
