Thorn raises a closed fist for the others to see and backs away from the door.
"Kobolds," she whispers. "They love setting traps on stuff and I'm no good with traps. Satou, got anything destructive in your bag of tricks?"
Suny blinks at Thorn's description of the possible Kobold's capers. She hunkers down, adjusts her pack straps for easier removal and scans out looking towards the rest of the room.

Not t' be fergettin' me low light vision. ^_^
"Um, Thorn?" Suny whispers, coughing softly to clear a nervous throat, "C'n these lil' buggers see in'a dark? An' if so, whut sort o' distance are we talkin' aboot?" The sudden idea making her nervous. Being attacked by an enemy that can see her but she not see has Suny nervous.
"Um, yer sayin' th' Kobblers be waitin' on t'other side o' a closed door an' there be a pit trap on their side of it?" Suny's lips purse in thought as she whispers,
"That don't sound right. Somat's got'a be amiss here." She crouches and sweeps the rest of the room with her gaze and x-bow.

"I got no other ideas, though. If'n folks is happy t' open a'door an' start shootin', I'm all fer it."
Before we kick the door down and face a hoard of enemies I have a question.
So the last post form anyone other than Suny and Myself was 2 weeks ago. Should I create an additional character, do you want to recruit or call it dead? Or are two characters capable of the adventure you had in mind?
*Breaks out the shock paddles and the gel* We in't a dead PbP yet! We c'n always have the DM post some things to explain Satou an' such havin' t' leave an' in such a way that they c'n rejoin when their Real Life gets around to stoppin' kickin' 'em in'a head. I, fer one, ain't no quitter! If'n it's just down t' Thorn an' me? I say we slip out'a th' dungeon, scoot back t' town an' then do some recruitin' in th' OOC Thread.
"Life! Give my creation LIFE!" *Que lightning and rolling thunder*
Unfortunately Satou and Hector have to leave rather suddenly, but as they go to leave two more adventurers show up and explain that they too where sent by the Castellan, and there may be more coming. The two that have to leave do so, saying that they may return if they can. So the newly reformed party is now standing before the den of the kobolds preparing for they're assault.
Sesinia gracefully walks up to Suny and Thorn and speaks in a hushed tone. "I am Sesinia, glad to make your acquaintance. Shall we get down to business. What do we know so far?" She asks passing glances back and forth between the Elf and Half-Elf.
As the new comer walks gracefully up to Suny and Thorn, speaking in a hushed tone. "I am Sesinia, glad to make your acquaintance. Shall we get down to business. What do we know so far?" She asks passing glances back and forth between the Elf and Half-Elf.
Sunset gives a little parting wave to Satou Mita, sadness evident upon her features, then turns her attention to what appears to be their new adventuring companion. Glancing to Thorn she whispers,
"Well, we's got Ko-boily's on'a other side o' this door, but th' lil' buggers have somat rigged up fer folks an' t'is got us a mite puzzled." Sunset goes on to describe the door before them leading into a chamber of unknown size, but with a probably nasty pit trap awaiting on the inside of the door way.
"So's, we c'n open'a door, but then it'll probably be each group shootin' at each other till we c'n figure out a way t' get across at 'em." Sunset finishes, looking to Thorn to add anything and for Sesina to speak as well. Suddnely Sunset blushes,
"Oh, an sorry I am." Sunset shifts her grip upon her x-bow, "M'name be 'Sunset' an' this be Thorn." She indicates to the pair of them, "I'm handy with me shooter, an' Thorn's right handy with, um, well, things. So's we've an' idea fer th' immediate future, what might yer callin' be?" She finishes her chat quickly, though continues to grin openly to the lithe young lass before her, one brown hand sticking forward possibly to be shaken.
"Yep, you just never can tell with kobolds," a voice whispers from about waist height between the three females. "They're tricky little blighters, and that's a fact!"
Startled, the three women look down to see the daffodil-yellow topped head of a male gnome grinning mischievously up at them. "Hiya, beautifuls," he whispers with a lecherous waggle of his eyebrows. "Gandel's the name, traps - among other things," he somehow manages to look all three women up and down at the same time, "- are the game. Let's take a look at this door and trap and see what we can do about these pesky kobolds, hmm?"
With that the gnome silently steps over to the door, searching it and the floor for traps.
Thorn smiles at Suny's words and her slightly awkward introduction. The woman definitely wasn't used to human society but she was an enjoyable presence. Nodding in agreement with her summary of their predicament she grins at the commentary and swift effecincy of the gnome.
"Don't you guys hate Kobolds? Oh wait I forgot, they hate you and your people barely even notice//" she chuckles "Stupid Kobolds"
"I can manipulate the energies in the air we breath Suny." Sesinia declares in response to her question of calling.
Reaching out to shake Suny's hand Sesinia almost hits Gandel in the head. Startled she looks down at the Gnome. "Sorry Gandel you appeared out of nowhere, almost hit you in the head. It is nice to meet all of you. Now let's destroy these Kobold scum."
Sesinia readies an electricity ray for the first kobold she sees within 30 feet when the door is opened.
Gandel sees the trap. It shouldn't be too hard to disable it, but it will take some time. He can't get at the mechanism with the door closed, however, so it's likely the party will be subject to attack by the kobolds while he is working on it.
I'll make disable device checks, as it's necessary to keep them secret.
"Well, ladies," Gandel whispers to the others, "it looks like we're going to have to open this door before I can disable the pit trap on the other side. Do we want to tackle the little lizards now? Or go down one of these other corridors and try to find a way to come at them from another direction instead?"
Let me see if I've got the layout straight. We came down a stairway and into a chamber (from the chamber's eastern side or western side?). There is a door on the north wall (which is the door we are currently investigating?). There is a corridor leaving the chamber in the southern wall, and another leaving the chamber on the opposite wall from which we entered (the western or eastern wall?). Plus there is a 20-ft. wide by 5-ft. deep niche in the same wall as the stairway which we came down, and there is another door in that niche. Is that about right?
"I can manipulate the energies in the air we breath Suny." Sesinia declares in response to her question of calling.
Reaching out to shake Suny's hand Sesinia almost hits Gandel in the head. Startled she looks down at the Gnome. "Sorry Gandel you appeared out of nowhere, almost hit you in the head. It is nice to meet all of you. Now let's destroy these Kobold scum."
Suny stares openly at the beautiful woman before her, barely noticing the other blond mop of hair that appears at her waist height.
"Oooooo!" Suny breaths in awe and admiration. "You is magic!" Her large blue eyes reflect the arcane glow that begins to emanate from Sesina. Thorn gives Suny a helpful nudge shaking her out of the admiration and the Elf drops down into a tangled limb'd crouch beside the Gnome, deftly bracing her x-bow across a folded knee.
"Okeys then!" She whispers nodding to Gandel, "You do whut you do best luv, an' we'll have a go at whut we do best, hey mates?" She gives a conspiratorial, knowing wink up to Thorn and Sesina. She shifts her grip upon her x-bow, taking aim down the mechanical, Gnomish sight she whispers softly,
"Knock, knock; Ready or not, here's we come!"
Readyin' me action t' be givin' Gandel coverin' fire fer when th' door be openin', like.
"Gandel, if you open the door, we will fire at the Kobolds while you go for the trap." Sesinia pats the Gnome on the shoulder. "I am ready when you are."
"Why do I get the feeling that I'm about to become a kobold's pin cushion?" the gnome wonders to himself as he prepares to open the door. "When this is over I better get some serious action from at least one of these hotties for what I'm about to do."
Laying his loaded crossbow down on the ground next to him, the plucky gnome reaches for the door handle, quickly throws the door open (does it open outward or inward?), and ducks down low to the floor in order to take a look at the trap mechanism.
Initiative: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16
Gandel drops prone to the floor to examine and try to disable the trap mechanism (Disable Device +8). While this places him within the opening, he is short enough to be to one side so that the others may still move through his square and into the room if they so desire after he disarms the trap. Lying prone should also give Gandel a +4 bonus to AC vs. ranged attacks (raising him to AC 20 vs. ranged attacks). Once he disarms the trap, he will roll to the side out of the doorway (within the original chamber) before standing up. If he comes under too much fire to work on disabling the trap, he will fire his crossbow at any target he can see (+4 to hit vs. kobolds).
"Gon'ta shoot me some ko-boily's, gon'a shoot 'em in'a head."
"Gon'a shoot some Ko-boily's. Me sights be aimed 'n true"
"Gon'ta shoot me some Kow-boilie's. An' I'm gon'a shoot 'em dead"
Sunset grins happily as she continues to hum her simple tune. ^_^
Gandel opens the door and it swings in. There is a short corridor leading into a room. Inside the room there is a small table, around which four kobolds are sitting. They quickly notice you're presence and two of them move behind the table. They then proceed to fire slings at you.
Kobolds (19) (Attacking)
Suny (17) (Pending)
Gandel (16) (Disabling the trap)
Thorn (10) (Pending)
Sesina (4) (Throwing a dagger to shed some light)
Kobold Attacks:
1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22
1d3 ⇒ 1 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 14
1d3 ⇒ 3 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
1d3 ⇒ 3 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 15
1d3 ⇒ 1
Two fire at the hated gnome, but miss entirely. Another attacks the Sorceress, but she dodges the attack. The last attacks the ranger and this attack hits it's mark. (3 dmg)
Gandel starts on disabling the trap, going prone to avoid sling fire.
Sesina throws a dagger into the room, lighting it up.
Yep. The kobolds have no need of light, since they have darkvision. Though you do see a unlit candle on the table, along with some cards (not set out now) and some mugs.
Initiative 1d20 + 2
Attack 1d20 + 3 Damage 1d6 + 2
Can I use this action and roll for my next turn? ;) If not that's cool, I can reroll.
Grunting against the pain Thorn releases her shot at the Kobold that hit her,but the flinch of being hit is too much. Qwickly she nocks another arrow in a single smooth motion.
The kobolds fire another volley. One attacks Gandel, but since he is prone, the stones flies right over him. Another attacks Suny, but his stone flies right by her. Another stone hits Thorn, fortunately not as hard this time (1 dmg). Another hits Sesina (2 dmg).
Kobold Attacks:
1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 17
1d3 ⇒ 3 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
1d3 ⇒ 2 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21
1d3 ⇒ 1 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18
1d3 ⇒ 2
Gandel continues to work on the mechanism.
Sesina fires a ray of electricity at the kobold that attacked her. It strikes with great force on the creature's chest and knocks him down.
Suny continues to re-set her x-bow, staying crouched beside the prone Gandel, mouth in a grim lins as she hears the Kobolds stones striking her friends.
After hitting the Kobold with the ray, Sesinia looks for her next target. Spotting another one by the table she lets another ray erupt from her finger with a crackle. "Anybody for fried Kobold tonight." Sesinia chuckles.
Thorn's arrow hits the kobold in the chest and he falls over dead.
Round 3
Kobolds (19) (Attacking)
Suny (17) (Pending)
Gandel (16) (Disabling the trap)
Thorn (10) (Pending)
Sesina (4) (Firing an electricity ray)
With a cry of "For Kurtlamak!" the remaining two kobolds fire at Gandel. One hits, but Gandel's armor protects him. The other misses entirely.
Kobold Attacks:
1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18
1d3 ⇒ 3 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
1d3 ⇒ 3
Gandel continues to work on the trap's mechanism. He's about halfway through the job.
Just to clarify, the last attack was on round 2. So I put the attack you just rolled on round 3 (it'll be resolved after Suny and Thorn take they're actions, because they might take out the remaining kobolds). You don't need to attack again until round 4.
OOC: I will be away from the internet until Sunday evening. Lordzack, please feel free to NPC Gandel until then, just please don't let him get killed! Thanks, and everyone have a great weekend!
Suny takes aim at the Kobolds, letting her bolt fly,
To hit:1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15
As the bolt again goes wide she grimaces. "An' here I were boastin' about me aim!" :P, She set abut reloading. "I dunno, me'by th' sights got knocked a tad out o' wonk?" She mutters to herself.
Sorry an' I am fer missin' out on postin' right quick like. M' interwebz connection dropped out fer a while an' I've just gotten back t'day. ^_^ An' other than throwin' spent x-bow bolts at Kobold, not addin' a lot t' th' fight. :P Sorry fer the lag an' th' durn dice roller.
