At this Point Ox chimes in before anyone else can get in edgewise. “ I agree with both of you, I won’t abide the guard letting him slip through the cracks this time, When we have him, my name will be cleared and I will be reinstated to the guard, if he doesn’t resist and goes along easily with out our needing to harm him, which I strongly doubt will happen and he does indeed make it to the jail house then I will personally see him from there to the gallows. Perhaps they will even let me have trail by combat with him. That, I promise, would satisfy you Rags.”it was plain that he would as soon as disembowel the man as let him slide through the cracks.

In his mind he couldn’t decide which to agree with, everything that was a man about him said that like Rags they should beat what they wanted to know from him and then finish the job, two clerics saying that Lamm admitted he murdered the man that he had been framed for, should be more than enough to stand for the judges. He could be cleared on that, his name should be cleansed in Kroft’s eyes. And then they could do away quietly with his body….but where would the clerics look then. And Arius had several valid points. The main being catch him before we cook him. Not to mention the vast amount of his morale that it went against to dirty his hands the same way Lamm does, simply to get rid of him. If they didn’t need to catch him and get information out him and he fought them in combat then he could simply kill him as he attacked and there would be no honor lost. But if he was forced to beat him into submission and then question him, he could hardly let him go to get up and fight and then hope he did so he could kill him justly.

He then watched the boy and the harrow dealer, as he said the next sentence. “Well, that book is one of two, I don’t want to know how you came by it, but if you can tell me where you got it and we return it, then I can tell you where the other copy is and I’m willing to bet that the other won’t be missing whatever pages the lady seems to think you need. Of course if we can’t borrow it and manage to obtain it, I would ask after you have said information we return that as well, perhaps I can get us by simply as a n inquiry, I might be able to pull a few strings depending.” His eyes bounced from one to the other. “Do you know where that book belongs?”

Rumil nods in agreement with Arius assessment of the Lamm question.

"I don't think Lamm deserves mercy anymore for his crimes....any mercy he was deserved he lost long ago when he made addicts and thieves out of the good people of Korvosa. Lamm is the vile rot, that brings down all that is beautiful and wonderful about this fair city we call home. For this alone he deserves the fate that we hand him at the tip of a sword...and I for one intend to see him bleeding on my blade."

"There is another thing to consider, when we go to confront the rat in his lair. Lamm's preference for making children into his thieves means we will need to be prepared to exercise restraint in the force we use. Our lust for revenge cannot overwhelm our sympathy for his current victims. "

"Aye, we must be careful...perhaps we may be able to get them help us...I am sure they won't exactly love Lamm either..."

Taldor (male Captive2/Rower3/Brawler3)

Nodding, the fortune teller looks at each of you in turn. "that is all I know - They work in the fishery during the day pretending it is real, while some of Lamm's children go and make their real money."

Arius nods in agreement. "Yes, you're right. Perhaps we can turn some of them to help us, but even if we can't, there must be a better way to get to Lamm than killing his child slaves. Most of them have suffered as much or more from Lamm than we have."

"Rags, you probably know more about the Little Lamms than anyone else here. Do you think that we could convince a few to join us, or would they be too afraid of Lamm?"

Ox wrote:

From his body language during Ox's speech, Arius clearly favors both Ox's suggestion and his sentiments about Lamm.

(m Human (Varisian) Rogue /1)

" We must not hurt the kids. Even if they attack they would do so only out of fear of punishment they have been punished so. I do know that we could convince them to join in the attack, but I think I can at least convince them to run instead of fight us."Rags puts the ledger away."I do not know much about the ledger it arrived with the card. I know not what the mystery of my past is all about. I can tell you that Lamm has three minions of note. He may have some other thugs about, but on that count I am uncertain. Yargin is a rotten man who likes to torture the children with his collections of acid. Hookshanks is a little gnomish bully who likes to threaten the kids with the guard dog. Finally there is Giggles a ugly old halforc who is as mean as a bleeding badger and beats the children who don't keep pace working to his satisfaction." Rags looks around at the people in the room knowing that vengeance is at hand.

Andoran (Female Elf Druid)

Anju gets more and more angry as she hears the tales of how everyone was also wronged by this man Lamm.

Anju gets up and walks towards the door

"So what do you suppose our next plan of action should be?"

"Ox, do you know something about the book too?"

"'Rags,' on that we are of one mind. We'll just have to use stealth and persuasion, then pull our punches against them if we must fight. Fortunately, most of my magic is non-lethal--enchantments and the like."

Malin 'Rags' Vosja wrote:

"Acid?! That sick... okay, we have at least three foes on whom we don't need to pull our punches."

Anju wrote:
"So what do you suppose our next plan of action should be?"

"Here's a tentative proposal. Rumil, Rags, and anyone else who's good at moving quietly could scout Lamm's den with the rest of us nearby in reserve. Lady Anju, if you have any ability to enchant animals, you might consider joining the scouts to keep any guard dogs friendly."

"We can make a more detailed plan when we have more information about the ways in and out of the place. In general, I'd favor keeping quiet as long as possible and trying to defeat Lamm's minions in small groups. If we can find one of them alone, I may be able to charm him into helping us."

"I'd also recommend that we let each other know what we can do. To start, I'm a journeyman magician with training in...."

Arius will tell his companions what he can do with magic; please look at the spoilered OFFENSE and TACTICS sections linked to his portrait for a summary. I think that message may be very useful in communicating with scouts.

Also, if Rags and Rumil don't have saps, they might want to consider getting them as a non-lethal sneak attack alternative.

(M Human Cavalier /1st)

Ox smiles over Rumil’s dramatics, Lamm as much as he hated him was just a crumb that was a part of the larger rot that was Korvosa, but from the elves he had dealt with he noted a certain flare they had for life, how they kept that flair going for so many years he had no idea, perhaps they were like the old eccentrics of humanity, but with the able body to follow such wild thought. He couldn’t help but enjoy the enthusiasm. He listened as the conversation seemed to be carried forward with reason. He gave several grunts of agreement particularly to the fact that they all agreed they wouldn’t be slaughtering children. How nice.

“aye, I recognize that ledger and as I said its one of two, now don’t misunderstand me, I don’t mean to take you off your path if you are looking to find your past, but one belongs to the palace and one belongs to the Field Marshall, Both of which I have a major loyalty to, but I would be more than glad to help you explain it being, “ He bit his lip, there was nothing wicked in what the boy was doing. “that you found it and would like to return it. The other will likely not be damaged, I am just baffled as how one of them got removed.” He was going to say more of what he knew of the book and then the slow gears in his head, brought his words to a halt, he doubted the boy would want his history blurted out as having been wrapped up with criminals.

“ I definitely don’t move quiet, I can swing my blade and my shield, I come in handy in a fight, as any in the retreat last night can attest, though that young man was more mouth than fist.”

“ if there isn’t anything that you all need to do, I say that we need not waste tonight.”

Rumil nods

"The children will not be hurt. I think Rags and myself could easily scout this place out however my only worry would be that they might recognize you Rags. If that is the case then maybe Lady Anju and myself would be a better idea or even just myself. I would have to aquire a sap or the like all I have are these."

Rumil motions to his pair of elven swords.

"Thats pretty easily remedied. I think Ox is right we need to go as soon as possible. We don't need Lamm finding out anyone is coming for him we need to catch Lamm by surpised."

The fortune teller nods and smiles at their decision to help. She thanks the group and asks if there is any other information she can help with, if not she needs to go collect moon blossoms.

"Rumil, do you think it's worth spending some time watching the place to see who goes in, or would that just give him a chance to discover that we've found him out? I think that you, Rags, and Ox would be better at estimating the likelihood of that than I, so I'll defer to your judgment."

Zallara looks at Arius and smiles "But I did not choose the cards to represent you - the cards choose on their own, as you would say, master wizard, they are both the spell component and sometimes also the method by which I obtain the results. When I sensed each of you, a particular card overlayed your aura in my mind, feel free to use this room for now, but it will take me some time to get to were I will be picking these! "A crowbar and a grapnel sound possibly useful to me. I'll contribute some money for buying them, though I'm probably not the best person to carry them."

Arius feels a inexplicable desire to buy a ten-foot pole; he disregards the idea as impractical.

" No need to buy them I just need to run by my place if we want to have them. I don't generally carry such items with me. They could come in handy, but I think we would be fine without them."

(M Human Cavalier /1st)

"I personally think the quicker we strike the better, he seems to have quite the network in his pay or under threat. The less time we give him the better, you'd be suprised how many crooks have their ears to the wall waiting for the day the jig is up.So if we are going to scout we should still be quick about it. As far as rope and hook go, I suppose we might want to bring them, at the very least the rope will come in handy while we extract the information we want out of Lamm.though anything past those and the crowbar I think is excess, we aren't on some adventurer's foolish quest." he shakes his head thinking about all those that fancy them selves adventurers.

He put on his helm and stretched checking his armor to see if it all worked as it should. It all appeared to be in good shape. He looked to the others and smiled appily under his helm.

" I'd like to be within shouting distance while those scouting do. Just in case."

Ox wrote:
..." I'd like to be within shouting distance while those scouting do. Just in case."

Arius says, "That seems prudent."

"Does anyone else have suggestions to make, or do we have our plan?"

...

When the companions have settled on a plan and are leaving Zallara's house, Arius says, "By the way, Ox, about that ledger...."

During the trip over to Lamm's, Arius asks Ox what else that he knows about the ledger, its significance, and its owner. He speaks in a low voice to avoid arousing the notice of passers-by, but makes no attempt to hide the conversation from his companions.

"Aye, Ox this ledger seems of some importance what does it entail?"

(M Human Cavalier /1st)

Ox shook his head lightly " I can't see it holding importance to us currently but more that it could be important to him," He said to the other two. He then addressed Rags more than the two questioning him." I simply recognize the book, and wouldn't mind helping right another of our foe's wrongs. the fortune teller told me that she didn't find it in either place that I had suspected, but while looking for the enemy." he didn't use Lamm's name due to the fact that anyone they crossed might leak they were coming for him. " that book either belongs in the palace or to the field master. It holds a history of sorts." not divulging more encase Rags would mind the particular history it holds, He walked near his friends and continued to try to lift his legs a little higher or stretch his arms along the way, coaxing his muscles into the idea that soon they would be called upon for a fight or maybe even a battle depending on what Lamm had up his scummy sleeves.

(m Human (Varisian) Rogue /1)

Rags looks a little exasperated by all the interest in the Ledger."I am unsure how it relates to me and my past. The relevant pages are missing it seems." Rags says Then almost begrudgingly he adds " It's a record of criminals and their crimes. Now I'm not saying it has to do with me directly, but I don't know. I haven't led the most honest life I suppose, but I can't figure it out yet. I have never ended up in the cage or even been caught doing anything illegal so I don't know why I would be in here. If it has to do with Lamm I don't see why I got it. I more then any of you seem to be aware of how big a crook he is. So it has some unknown affect on my past I can't say that makes me happy. I mean I know my life has had more then it's share of hardship, but thats life in old town." Rags stops himself realizing he has already said more then he meant to. Sure, I know what your all thinking now. Watch my pouch around that one. He's not to be trusted. Little Thief! Well you don't know me. I make my way through life the best I can. Theres plenty of so called upright honest folk that are a lot more crooked them me. Rags gazes off gathering wool for a moment then smirks.

(Male Human (mostly Chelaxian) Pathfinder Universalist Wizard 3)

After a slightly awkward silence, Arius responds, "Thanks, Ox and Rags. Well, the book doesn't sound as if it'll be immediately helpful against Lamm, so it can wait."

"As for Lamm, do we have any more ideas regarding our 'visit?'"

Please check the plan summary in the other thread and suggest changes if you have any (e.g., if Anju would prefer to join the scouts). If no one has any comments by tonight, I move that we start scouting the fishery.

The reek of brine and the stink of week-dead fish hang thickly in the air here. The old double doors in the side of this weathered building are tightly closed, with a drooping signpost hanging above. The sign it once displayed is long gone, leaving behind only a single short length of rusted chain. A fifteen-foot-wide loading dock abuts the side of the building. A few carts sit nearby, partially loaded with large tar-caked barrels marked with a fish-shaped splotch of red paint on the side. Double doors to the immediate south of the loading dock’s ramp provide access to the building’s interior, while a rickety flight of stairs descends nearly to the river’s surface to the east, where a second door provides a secondary entrance. The double doors on the loading dock are ajar, and as you watch two carts full of barrels marked the same way as those on the dock.

Arius says softly, "Yes, let's stay back and keep a low profile till after the scouts check the entrances for traps or alarms." He watches the scouts intently as long as they are in sight, readying a spell in case his companions are attacked.

How much visibility and ambient light is there? I'm assuming that there is enough cover for us to stay within a double move of the entrance without looking too obvious.

Now I know this is a lot to take in and awfully sudden but we are here to free everyone and make sure the old man and Hookshanks,Yargin, and even Giggles get whats coming to them. I'm doing ok for myself got my own place and everything. Any of the Lambs who have no place to go can come stay with me safe and sound plenty of food, a roof over our heads and no one beating on us.No one will get hurt anymore! Now we could use help knowing how things are set up here. This isn't the same hideout as when Lamm thought h killed me. Are ya willing to help us?" Rags looks at the boy earnestly hoping he will agree. diplomacy (1d20+5=22)

Ox hangs back, At the sight of the two If Rumil hadn't cuaght the pickpocket then he would have waited for him to come there way and knocked him cold as he got closer. But Rags Rumil and the young man all went into the dark, and he wondered if he should be glad he couldn't see what was going on. His hand subconsciously went to his pouch to check that it was still there. His gauntleted fists tensed and relaxed he was trying to stay calm in a situation that he would rather just blaze out a call and get this whole thing under way but he was only working with about a group of seven or eight, counting the wolf. So they couldn't quite surround the thing and move in on it. Maybe if more of them had shields, Speaking of which, He slowly lifted his shield and strapped to his arm.

He looked at the others and whispered " let me know when we should move I tend to get a bit.. anxious." If one took note at that moment, Ox and the wolf had a very like interest in the proceedings ahead.

Hope you don't mind that comparison Anju.

not at all haha!

Anju sees the shapes of Rumil and the boy in the dark through her dark vision. She notices Tikaani itching to move foward and wonders if she should let him go. Anju whispers to Ox "I think we should wait until we get a clear signal from Rags and Rumil."

Rumil stands there staring at the young boy as Rags talks to him utterly shocked by what has just happened while at the same time happy he still has his money pouch. After a second Rumil snaps out of it and looks around the street to see if more "street urchins" or Lamm's thugs are coming this way

"Perhaps My dear Rags we should move this discussion out from in front of the building... if one Little Lamm has returned then the rest of the flock is can't be far behind."

The boy listens to rags and slowly nods.. He tells of the top layout of the fishery, but says that no one tied and lowered into the bottom level comes up, so he can't really help with that.

at the girlfriends this weekend, so I'll have to download the adventure to remake/resend a corrected map and post more exact information - you can decide in the OOC board if you prefer this to all be in hearing range of the entire group or just with the two of you

Rags:

Spoiler:
you remember a Croc that Lamm had had for years - this might be why those sent down don't come up

The Boy, Anher, tells you that the vicious guard dog is in the room behind the locked double doors. He tells you of the rooms on the top floor where the younger lamms are employed to make slurry, feeding rotting fish into a grinder, and other unseemly chores. He doesn't know anything about the lower floor, saying that any of the children that go down there are lowered down on a chain by giggles, and are never seen again. He does caution you that the docks are slippery. (when on them you'll need to roll balance checks)

Ox Smiles Broadly at their good fortune,They were sent by a fortune teller so it is only fair that they have good fortune after all, this young man has come in very handy, he knew the lay out and where certain things happened He would be the first to go through the double doors and face down the, dog, he had no qualms with taking his sword to a beast, that had more than likely been mistreated or at the very least taught to mistreat. it sounded as if they were going to have to go down the hole after they secured the upper levels, he wasn't looking forward to finding out why no one came back, more than likely it was where the gator was kept.

"young man, I have one more question for you are any of the adults about tonight?"
things were about to be set off and soon there would be hell to pay for those that had trouble these children.
