You must be thinking of another spell, Hypnotic Pattern carries no such clause. EDIT: DOh! Got it, under the Fascinated condition. Dang. Should have checked that. Oh well, there's your non-optimal play for this round.

Pretty sure you're going to have to deal with a couple Attacks of Opportunity before you complete that Summon. It's still a spell-like ability, so that's going to Provoke, and be subject to concentration checks if you take damage.
