"Also I'd like to nominate Karkalla for membership in the Millenium Falcons. During the situation with that fraud Feres, she was there to help and she was the first in the water against that sea ooze. That's the sort of person I want on my team."
"None for me, Daurros. I got a belt that gives me strength, and the ring... I think it's better use for someone else." Guard speaks, then adds after Toxim's inquiry: "You are right, she seems capable of our kind of troubles."

How would you answer the question if you didn't experience the other situation? I don't know how it would be to be human, or elf or something else for that matter... I'm not even sure, all warforged feel the same way..." he contemplates for a short time, lowering the forgehammer.
"You know, I met some warforged after the war. Some were... I don't know...
hmm...
Let me tell you of It. That warforged was part of the Millenium Falcons in a time we didn't know we would be the Millenium Falcons. I think he wasn't aware of his own... soul, if you will. He acted much like a machine, compared to me, I think. I mean... even I don't have a 'real' name, my purpose is my name, but he refered to himself as 'It'.
On the other hand, long ago I met a warforged calling himself Gregnus. He seemed much like a human to my eyes back then. He opened my eyes so to speak.
So, what do you mean with that question?"
Ardanto dismisses the gauntlets, having already spent money on a belt before he left town. He is intrigued by the ring, not because he wants it, but because he is fascinated that some one would go to the trouble of crafting a ring to foul magic that pries into your soul. He is even more amazed at how far the probing can go. For the next few days he surreptitiously checks out all the other passengers for similar rings, wondering if one of them could be using a similar item to mask the fact that they are one of the 'mind beasties' that have dogged them a few times.
When Toxim suggests that Karkalla joins the Falcons, Ardanto is none committal leaving the decision on group politics to the more enlightened amongst them.
Guard stops short midswing, looking over to the shifter.

Karkalla's face scrunches up as if she is putting a lot of thought into what she is trying to say "Well I guess what Im im trying ta ask is do ya feel things I mean I know you can see and hear but do ya have a sence of smell? of touch? of taste? things like that. As for being a shifter....Well it's kind of like having a wild animal inside ya that wants ta come out all the time, some choose ta let it out, some choose ta restrain it and some choose ta do both so I guess not all shifters think or feel the same way either."
"Ah, that's something completely different... Yeah, I have access to all normal senses, though I doubt that they are as good as the senses of other races.
I can't really smell much, if it's got no strong smell. Touch is a bit better, if that is compareable, but I think taste is the best from those three.
I don't know how good warforged in general are with those senses, and I never bothered to ask... I know that It didn't bother to eat, so I guess he doesn't 'use' his sense for taste, if he has one..."
Thinking for a second he comes back to another part of her answer: "So, what type of shifter are you then? You don't seem like the 'let-the-beast-out' kinda type... but I think you used the beast while we were fighting that Ooze-thingy, right?"
Thinking for a second he comes back to another part of her answer: "So, what type of shifter are you then? You don't seem like the 'let-the-beast-out' kinda type... but I think you used the beast while we were fighting that Ooze-thingy, right?"
"I would be the choose ta do both type. I dont like using it all the time but it still has it's uses."
Daurros hands the ring to Finn, then gives the bracers to Thoven. "It would seem that most of our warriors already have items to improve their brute strength; you may get some use of these, I think."
Daurros spends most of the next several days in quiet study, although he will occasionally spend some time drinking with Avner, trying to get on the disgusting noble's good side, and make him think of Daurros as a friend. He will not neglect his companions though, and make it clear to Ardanto what he is trying to do. "It may be best if he feels at least someone on this ship can stand him, and that he thinks of as a friend," he'll explain when they have a moment without Avner around.
Thoven nods to Daurros"I'll make the most of it, thank you." The next few days will be spent similar to the days past. He spends alot of his time in quiet reflection and the rest of the time doing anything he can to help the now slightly smaller crew on deck.
Guard and Karkalla spends much of the next few days with the crew and repairing the warforges battle damage. The crew as a whole seemed haerted by the warforges even if a few still give him odd looks from time to time.
Toxim seems to spend his time watching Skald at the wheel or sneaking into the dark places of the ship with lirith. Daurros spends his time at study or working on building trust with Avner who really seems to enjoy ardantos rum.
Finn seems to spend his time alone while Ardanto seems to be looking for something among the crew, spending time watching them as they work, although one of the crewmen Dyndan offers to take Ardantos mind off his worrys a few times
All in all the days pass peaceful and back to normal. That is until a shrieking Aver stumbles out of the cabin 4 days after with half his hair missing."Adanto! I've been assaulted!" He shrikes covering his half shaved head with his hands.
Ardanto
Spoiler:
While no one has a ring that looks just like that, almost all of the crew wear jewelry, mostly ear rings. A few have rings.Ziathtan, ben dag wood and Dyndan all wear rings
Daurros hands the ring to Finn, then gives the bracers to Thoven. "It would seem that most of our warriors already have items to improve their brute strength; you may get some use of these, I think."
Ardanto agrees with his good friend, Daurros, that befriending Avner is a good idea, he even goes as far as to join in as well. He would not of given him berth in his cabin otherwise. So as the rum supplies dwindle Ardanto and Daurros set about befriending the pompous jackass.
Ardanot is fairly relieved that the crew do not seem to have similar rings and has almost given up searching when it occurs to him that it might not be a ring, after all his belt of ogre strength does the same as the recently acquired Gauntlets. This sets him worrying again and he finally has to ask Daurros for advice.

Seeing that Dyndan is listed as a female human, I assume you don't mean she tells him a few good jokes. Ardanto is not too sure getting involved with a member of the crew is a good idea, but then again he has never been one to stick only to good ideas. A lot depends on if Ardanto thinks she is pretty and if I actually interpreted your post correctly.

"Avner! What in the nine hells happened to you!" Ardanto rushes over to Avner's side, a look of genuine concern for Avners hair on his face. "Calm down and tell me what's occurring?" He glares at the crew, daring any of them to laugh.
"What happened! what happened!" Avner screeches "Some blaggard assaulted me is what the happened!" He wails throwing his hands up and anger "Look at what they done! look at it! He screams pointing to his half bald head "I look like some low born cur! I demand to know who did it! I demand punishment for this assault! he screams
The crew have started to stare a bit, and at lest one of them snickers at the screeching noble.
Aranto continues to milk the audience, still glaring at them to keep a straight face as he interviews the screeching noble "Calm down Lord, calm down, we need to be rational while we work out the location of everyone when this offence took place," he puts a comforting hand on Avner's back and asks, trying to be sincere, "can you think of anyone you have upset recently?" He suppresses a grin of his own as he makes a mental list that probably includes every one on board, "anyone who may hold a grudge against you?"
Regarding the rings, Daurros does explain to his friend that many items of magic that may do the same thing can often look quite different. "But do remember, my friend, that I did scan the crew and ship for magic when we were searching for the saboteur. Unless someone kept the item hidden by a material that blocks my magic, like lead, or used a more powerful spell to block, I'm not sure anyone else has one of those rings."

Daurros comes rushing to Ardanto and Avner. "I suspected something like this would happen! It's the saboteur, I just know it! None of the crew would DARE to harm a noble of your stature, my friend!" He turns to Ardanto. "We must double the watch, and do another sweep of the ship. This atrocity cannot be left to go unpunished." As Ardanto consoles Avner, Daurros will give a quick wink to the crewmen gathered around.
At first Toxim keeps his back in an attempt to mask his glee.
Ardanto wrote:

Toxim turns around and in mock anger says, "Surely Abner has no enemies aboard this vessel, sir. He is a man of unequaled poise, culture, and charm. Everyone here knows that this journey would not be the same without him."

"Yes, that must be it! Come, Lirith, let us begin the search at once.! " Then he goes below deck to 'search'.
Ardanto, that is what I mean. Dyndan has helped most the male crew pass time, as well as prob Avner ship scuttlebutt goes and his two lackeys and some of the jade ravens it seemed at the last stop. She has also offered to help Finn and Duarros pass time. She gets so bored.
Avner seems to pause at Ardantos, Daurros and Toxims words "The saboteur?" He says somewhat dumbly As Toxim and Lirith go off the "search" for the saboteur.
"Yes, yes you must be right." He says rubbing his half shaved head "Only such fiends would pull such an assault on my person, of coarse your right. We must find them and have them punished!" He says with anger "Have them whipped like the curs they are!" He almost screeches "Olmar, ven! attend me!' He yells as his servants follow him into the cabin, in a futile attempt to try and salvage his hair.
His back is not turned long as smiles start to creep into the crew and the door is barely shut as chuckles start to be heard, barely contained. Even Amella is given a low chuckle as she shakes her head
Ok what now folks? You want to link up with the nixie or stay in the lead?

So she is the ships bike, no thanks, even Ardanto has standards and sloppy seconds are not his thing, never mind sloppy fifteenths. So Ardanto turns her down politely.

Ardanto bites his tongue until Avner is well out of sight and then joins the crew in their laughter. His mood lifted by the misfortune of the noble man, he does make subtle inquires into who it was, believing that the 'saboteur' would more of likely cut his head off and not his hair.

Ardanto is rethinking his early bet with Lavinia, to the crew he informs them, in light of the recent attack and knowing the incompetence of the crew of the Blue Nixie, they would never of bested the sea monster and so they should wait for her and link up to protect her from any misfortune. To his companions he confides that he is genuinely worried for the safety of the Blue Nixie, they are not as skilled or versatile as the Millennium Falcons. Only to Daurros does he confess that his little crush on Lavinia is making him cranky with worry, absence must make the heart fonder.
So Ardanto makes the decision to lurk off the coast and wait for the Nixie to catch them up and then to sail with in sight of them and anchor at night close to them. My pre-cannon sailing knowledge is a little rusty, but I am fairly sure that a Caravel class ship would anchor up off shore at night. I am not actually sure what you do in the open sea, as anchors only work up to a certain depth. I assume they sail through the night in the open sea.
Is everyone else happy with this?
Ardanto also seeks out Guard as he works at his forge, "Guard, I have a favour to ask if I may, if we berth at night near the Blue Nixie, is there a chance that I can borrow your ring on occasion to hop over and see the Lavinia? I must confess I am fond of the lady and in light of our recent danger I would like to confess that to her before I lose the chance for ever. After all, there are bold pirates and there are old pirates, but there are very few old, bold pirates." he smiles, "I know you often think of me as a fool, but you should know that I always have my friends interest in my mind and some of the risks I take are to put my self in harms way, so that they are spared it."
Guard, a bit dumbstruck, looks down at his appendages, searching for a ring that isn't there. "Care to tell me, what ring you mean?" he answers, holding up his hands to show them ringless.
"Ah, got ya. I can walk on water due to those sandals on my feet. And I can't take them off, so I can't let you borrow them. They're made of incarnum, so if I let go of them, they disappear.
...
Hmm, I see. I think I may be able to help you out though. If you want to get over there and not take a dingie, I could probably carry you on my shoulders."

Ardanto looks a bit foolish, "Oh, I assumed that is was some sort of magic item, like my ring," he holds his hand out showing his fish motif covered ring of swimming, "It never occurred to me that it could be your sandals, or even an extension of your 'incarnum'." he scratches his head, "I guess I have a lot to learn about you and Snem." Ardanto smiles, the warmth in his face almost dispelling the dark bags under his eyes. "I thank you for your kind offer of carriage, but I think it is probably best if I row over instead, it would be silly to deprive the Wyvern of two of its best warriors at the same time."
He stays and watches the Warforge work for a while, chatting in general, even touching on intangible things like hopes or dreams.
"Nevermind. I wouldn't know the half of it if it weren't for Snem. Actually, if it weren't for Snem I most certainly never learned any of it." Guard replies chuckling.
He enjoys the chatting with Ardanto, babling of little things that simply come to mind. He mentions that Karkalla has helped him with his repairs, and repeats that she would be a good addition to the group, regardless of Lavinias decission.
"We are the Millenium Falcons, after all. If she doesn't want to employ Karkalla, I'd suggest pooling our income from Lavinia and split it to include her. If the others agree, of course."

Ardanto nods, enjoying some honest casual conversation, "I have no problem with the lass at all, so I will go with what you recommend my friend, she does seems confident, able and level headed in an emergency. Good traits to have around, I just fear bringing her into danger, but she is a big girl and can make her own mind up." He thinks for a while, "I will bring it up with Lavina when or if I get over there," he pauses, scratching the several days of growth on his chin, "it might even give me a good excuse to head over there."
"Karkalla, in the short time you've been on board, I've noticed how well you handle yourself. I've put it to the rest of the group and we would like to know if you would accept a membership in the Millenium Falcons?
Lavinia, our patron, would still need to agree so that you could receive a rather handsome monthly stipend, but we would like to know if you would be interested. If you accept, all that we offer is a life of adventure and excitement. Plus and equal share of any treasure we come across.
It's not much, but that's my sales pitch. What say you?"
I agree with Guard's suggestion of pooling monies to include Karkalla if that's necessary.

"Oh well uh sure."Karkalla says "Does this mean I get to walk about with my crossbow?"
With fear of the Blue nixie's Safety Ardanto makes the call to put in for the coast and keep a closer eye on the other ship. The crew seems in a better mood even if Dyndan does pout a bit at Ardanto's let down. And the crew seems to not crack a smile at the now very bald and his very white head, while he is watching anyhow.
That night you come within sight of the Blue nixie Signaling the other ship you come in close as the rowboat is put into the sea and Ardanto along with two crewmen,Ziathtan and Selios row make their way toward the Blue nixie
Once they arrive a runner is sent to inform Lavinia and Ardanto is admitted to her cabin. Once there, he gets a good look at her living quarter. While stately and expensive, the table is layered with charts, navigational tools and books. The woman herself stands to greet Ardanto, she's dressed in well made and stylish clothing of a practical nature and stands easy with her rapier at her hip, she smiles as Ardanto enters.'Welcome to the Blue nixie Ardanto, I see you have slowed down a bit is something wrong? Or" with a grin she says"Did you just miss us"
Anyone else feel free to state what your doing, interact with the crew or passengers or the like
"Oh well uh sure."Karkalla says "Does this mean I get to walk about with my crossbow?"
"I suppose I could talk with Captain Ardanto about making you the... uh.. Master Mariner. Yeah, that sounds good. As Master Mariner you would work closely with Finn, the Master at Arms, and Guard, who has no position aboard the ship but whose gonna tell him no weapons, to defend the ship, it's crew, and it's passengers."
Ardanto grins broadly at Lavinia, "We ran into a bit of bother with a sea ooze, so we decided it might be safer if you travel with us, after all I am not sure if this barnacle encrusted tub would of survived the attack." His smile broadens to ensure she realises he is jesting, then suddenly the smile fades and he adds quietly, "and I found my self missing you," Ardanto tries to hold Lavinia's gaze as he finishes, but he finds him self suddenly feeling naked and vulnerable and his eyes drop to the charts.
Stupid idiot, that was not the way you rehearsed it, he chastises himself mentally.
Lavina smiles as she say "Why Ardanto I do believe your blushing, and this barnacle encrusted tub? She says with a wink nodding toward the richly decorated cabin of dark wood 'Has had no trouble at all. Trouble must like you" She says with a wide grin
"I was just about to have dinner, why don't you style a while and tell me of this trouble that always seems to find you." she says arching her eyebrow at Ardanto as she starts to move charts off the table
Ardanto smiles back, more than relieved to not of crashed an burnt with his opening gambit, "Trouble is my middle name, but I guess you already knew that," he moves over to help with clearing the table, "and dinner sounds just perfect, thank you for the invite Lavinia."
He makes idle chatter as they clear, "I will give you this, your cabin is a lot more luxurious and spacious than mine, but then I expected nothing less from some one with your taste an style, there are five of us crammed in the captain's quarters over there, privacy is a luxury at the moment."
Ardanto will talk freely over dinner, telling Lavinia of the troubles the boat has encountered, of the fun and woes with Avner and how he almost duelled him, of Karkalla's intervention and her subsequent heroism during the battle with the ooze. He will bring up that they have taken her on as one of the Falcon's, and he will use this opportunity to ask that his stipend now be paid to Karkalla. "I have feelings for you Lavinia and I doubt very much that a lady of your class would court a man in your employment, so from this moment on I resign my commission, I will serve you now as you friend and hopefully more, but I will not accept a wage from the women I care for. If you do not share my feelings, tell me now so I can find a big rock to crawl under, but even if you don't feel the same way I will still be your loyal friend." he stops as he realises he is nervously babbling and looks hopeful that the sudden directional change of conversation has not terrified her.
'well that was certainly smooth you idiot' he chastises himself mentally and kicks him self in the ankle under the table.
Daurros is in a bit of a foul mood lately, and feels particularly antisocial. He remains cloistered within his room, lost in his arcane books. If he likes, Daurros will spend a little time teaching Toxim further, but otherwise remains to himself. He doesn't even partake of any whiskey or rum for a while, feeling that even getting drunk is a bit tedious now.
Heh, ok everyone else but Ardanto being anti-social :)
Lavinia seems to smile at Ardanto's embarrassment "I have grown very fond of you Ardanto. And I do miss are time together, I would very much like to explore these feeling with such a dashing man such as yourself" She says with a genuine smile " I accept your offer Ardanto, and I do believe that also takes care of the young misses pay as well"
Lavinia spends the rest of the evening sharing diner and stories of the voyager with Ardanto as well as some of her child hood stories. As the night grows late she reminds Ardanto that they should be coming upon the Ravar Orioth jungle in a few days and Urol wanted to stop there and explore some ruin. With a laugh she says "I am sure master Urol will remind you, several times about it" with that she bids Ardanto farewell and safe journey and hopes he comes to visit her " barnacle encrusted tub" again soon, her pearls of laughter is the last thing Ardanto hears as Ziathtan and Selios row the short distance in the darkened sea to the "Sea wyvern" As Ardanto makes his way back to the deck Amella is there to great him "I hope is well on the Blue Nixie, captain"
Ok still time to RP a bit if yall like or anything else ya wish to do
Ardanto whistles merrily as he climbs on board and is greeted by Amella, "Amella my dear, they seem to be blessed, not even a sail has torn on their ship," he smiles at her, "if I was a superstitious man, I would say some higher power has it in for us," he looks up to the heavens and winks. "Now why don't you get your self to bed, I'll not be sleeping much tonight so I will take over, you to Selios and Ziathtan, god only knows you two need your beauty sleep, he smiles and wanders onto the forecastle to do a circuit of the ship.
The next few days pass smoothly as you travel down the Valenar coast. The Nixie stays within sight as you make good time down the coast. You do see a few ships mostly merchant ships and a few of elvish make flying the flag of Aerenal, but none approach as you travel. Two days from the destination , which Urol has talked about endlessly mostly to Toxim and Finn while reminding Ardanto daily of the planned exploration of a ruin, you come within sight of the Ravar Orioth. Urol explains that this is elven for " Jungle of the scimitar"
The little Gnome happliy explains all he knows of the Jungle to anyone who is within range, Ardanto, Toxim and Finn being folks he is fond of talking the most with
' See there! See! that is the Ravar Orioth or the Jungle of the scimitar in common. Not sure how it got that name, maybe it's all the tigers? or maybe the lizard folk? I hear they have thunder lizards there! Maybe a few anyhow. The Valenar do not go there often, not often at all but I have this map!" The gnome hold up his map{ a well worn piece of lizard hid with crude symbols} to any and everyone " See it's pre Valenar! Old from Aerenal before the founding of Cyre! Can you believe that? I bet it has all kinds of interesting things there! don't you? Yes, yes all kinds of neat things! Oh I need to get my sample pack!" The gnome says rubbing his hands together in excitement before running below to ready his gear...again.
You are two days from the point Urol wants to explore with the Jungle looming to your right, anything ya want to do?
Ardanto is obnoxiously happy after his visit to the Blue Nixie, all singing and smiles, like a broad way chorus girl.
Ardanto likes the hyperactive, talkative gnome and only rarely wanders off while Urol is speaking, especially with Finn and Daurros in a funk. He does ask Urol "How did you come by the map? It is a long way from home."
He also presses the little Gnome on any dangers they may face.
Yeah, now that we're this close,I should actually pay attention to what Urol says about this expedition.
"Hey, Urol, tell me again about the map. Where'd you get it from and how do you know it's authentic? What sorts of creatures do you think we'll encounter while exploring the place?"
Early in the day before we reach our destination, Daurros does what he's been dreading, but that he knows is necessary.
He walks up to the annoying little gnome Urol, and says, "Excuse me, Urin ... I mean, Urol. I need to speak with you; tell me everything you know of these ruins you wish to explore. For instance, what sort of terrain are they in? What sorts of creatures can we expect in the surrounding area, or even in the ruins themselves? What is the history of these ruins? The more information you can give me, the better I can prepare my spells for what we may face."
As you question Urol his eyes sparkle with child like glee. "Oh, the map! I got it from a one legged elf with the most fascinating story! See, this elf was part of an expedition that was exploring per-Galifar ruins in the Ravar Orioth!" The Gnome rubs his hands in excitement. " Now many ruins in the Ravar Orioth are picked over and well explore but this here chap had a charter from Morgrave to explore , See I have the seal! And found a new one! Can ya believe it? A per-Galifar elven ruin unexplored!" The little gnome positively dances with excitement "But," He says tilting his head " Poor chap had a long run of bad luck attacked by long-tooth tigers soon after entering the jungle, then finding the ruins, as ya see the map is very detailed only to have some great multi-legged lizard turn most of the explores to stone and the jungle cats the rest. Only he made it back, then the poor fellows luck got worse attacked by pirates, had his ship go down in a storm and picked up by fishermen after drifting for near a week. Umm he did die after I got the map off him...yep no luck at all I say. But ' He says excitement almost exploding from the Gnome"I got a map to a unexplored per-Galifar ruin! This is sooooooooooooo EXCITING!"
"Oh the Terrain? Well the Ravar Orioth is a jungle. And has several fascinating species of plant life, some of em mobile and carnivorous even! I would like to collect a few of those. And I hear they have some lovely flowers as well, I would like to see if I could find the Red blooming jungle fern while we are there. It only grows in the Ravar Orioth ya know and has a lovely fed shade with these little blossoms. I don't think it is a fern, but that is what it is called mind you. Also jungle cats and wild boars are known to lair there. Oh and the long-tooth tiger that gave the jungle it's name is very aggressive, also birds..12 species ,Mongoose, short eared fox, very pretty might I add, incests bees, gnat, 34 breeds of spiders, 2 known types of wasps, 15 or so lizard breeds at lest! also nine species of snakes, Oh I hear the sapphire strike snake lives there! , very deadly snake kills most in mere moments, I so hope we see one!" Urol seems very giddy and very excited as he talks his eyes shinning with joy
History: The ruins if per-Galifar could be elven as they did colonize Valenar some 11'000 years ago. You would have to see the ruins to know much more then that, however
Nature: Pretty much what Urol has already told the group about the plant and animal life of this jungle
Geography: Mostly what has already been told, although you do recall hearing of lizard folk in that jungle, but that may or may not be true
Ardanto listens in awe to Urol's story of the one legged elf, "And I thought our journey was cursed. he jokes before turning serious, "now back up your story a bit, don't you go skipping over the multi-legged lizard that turns people to stone, as much as I like excitement, the idea of being a statue for eternity does not appeal to me."
Sigh, I had fixed that one, but then the windows update ninja got me and I restored my words and forgot to fix it again...heh or they could be kinky bees
"Yes, the words 'turned to stone' made my ears perk up as well, Ardanto. I'm not afraid of a few scratches from a large cat, but turning to stone...that sounds awfully permanent."
Urol seems a bit confused for a moment 'Oh yeah that. Well yeah that is what he said, Not sure a lizard does that but is is a fascinating Ideal don't you think?" he says with child like wonder
