"Anybody have a preference for which way we go"

The party has seen nearly all their is to see since leaving the natural tunnel and entering this complex new folks came in at third room of 5. Two obvious exits are the way everyone came in (to the north) and the sea doors to the south (locked). The chasm with the colossal scorpions was pretty deep and smelled of saltwater, but so does the little bit of air coming from the sea doors.

(Male Dwarf Warmage / 7)

"Imma thinkin' we needs ter look through thes'ere room really good n' stuff cause we needs de udder key I think."

Ill take 20 on a search check if the DM allows which would give a 27

(Male Human fighter 6)

Halga rubs his chest, still sore from the blow.
"Aye Urdok. Seems ya may be right there. Are ya sure the key we 'ave doesn't work in those other doors?"

Looking over to the halfling he smiles. "I'd prefer goin' out."

Oops, corrected O:)

Please tell me where you want to search and how well you do...

(Male Dwarf Warmage / 7)

Urdok focuses on looking through the bodies of the undead creatures.

1d20+7=22 Search

Urdock searchres. Urdock frantically searches. He searches twice in fact, just to double search lest he miss on the first search anything really shiny. O:)

(Male Lizardman Monk 4/ Lizardman 2 (+1 LA))

Fang wanders around wondering what all the fuss is about... It's obvious there's no food, anyone can smell that.

(Male Dwarf Warmage / 7)

Urdok searches for a good way to tease the DM :P

"Every Deitrich Schreiber novel I've 'ad the chance ter read always had a hidden room wif de place whar tha evil genius made der dead guys. Mebbe one o' ya wants ter look fer one while i keeps checkin outs der place."

Urdock finds a piece of cheese on a large wooden frame. When he tries to wiggle the morsal free a simple looking bar of metal snaps at his head! reflex save DC +1 to whatever you rolled... OK your first search was high enough to reveal...O:)

Nearly 300 bodies line these walls, some with trinkets that might have been of value to the kin who placed them here. One of the corpses is not really a corpse however. Instead a cunningly carved skeleton of stone wears the same old rags as all the others. It's arms are crossed over an empty ribcage. Two ribs are pointing toward the wall, which would have punctured the beings stomach if there was one. The wall itself has the thin lines of door behind the skeleton.

Taldor (simply M Draco Electricus Wannabeus Expert 1, Armchair Expert (PrC) 8,)

The lines in the wall form a door behind the skeleton. Been a month since I have heard from two of you... gone?

still here. Amar's not real inquisitive so there hasn't been anything he wants to do except maybe leave this room with too many dead things.

Amar stretches, just happy to have the pack off his back.

(Male Halfling Paladin 2)

"Um, someone wanna open that door?"

(Male Human Barbarian 6)

Still around, just not exactly bursting with ideas on how to react without getting in someones way.

Cyrus keeps his eyes open as everyone goes about examining the area, when they find a new door Cyrus moves forward and opens it ready to get away from the bodies lining the wall.

(Male Dwarf Warmage / 7)

"Well might be nice ter 'ave ole Abe do a quick once over wif dat evil finder o' his. Then tha big meat shields walkin' in ter see iffn anything starts ter want ter get mean on us. Iffn nuffin happens we do a big looksie, if that works fer everyone." Urdok grins at the group happy to delegate dangerous activities to people who think that scars are fun to get.

(Male Human Barbarian 6)

With a large sigh Cyrus pulls back from the door to allow the short one access.

(Male Halfling Paladin 2)

"Right" Abe closes his eyes and concentrates on the door and the skeleton in the alcove.

Detect evil again in case he missed anything the first time.

Abernathus Burbuckle wrote:

Whew glad you are all still with us. :)

With a nod 'of its' OK to the big man Cyrus, Abe steps back from the door. Cyrus grabs the two stone ribs, and pulls them in line with the rest of the cage. There is a snap and then a hiss as air rushes into the area behind the door which has not felt fresh air in centuries. The skeleton-door lays down opening a passage into a five foot area that in turn opens into a 15x15 room.

This chamber is a small crypt dominated by a large stone sarcophagus. Both the wall of the room and sarcophagus itself are covered in decorative patterns and carvings of animals. The top of the sarcophagus, depicts a man dressed in robes wearing a feathered headdress, and clutching a blue rod in hand and a ceremonial dagger in the other.

knowledge local DC 25, knowledge history 30, knowledge religion 35

Spoiler:
The Olman shaman interred here was a man named Teonahwanhi. He blessed the creation of Dark Mountain pass and even volunteered to be buried alive to appease the fickle nature of the deities in hopes ensuring the complex's safety and longevity.

Nothing in the room causes Abe's Pali-sense to tingle, just in case you were about to ask O:).

(Male Dwarf Warmage / 7)

"AAAARRRGHHHH!!! KILLIT KILLIT KILLIT", yells Urdok, "ITS A VAMPIRE THINGIE AND WILL KILL US ALL!! WE NEEDS TER STAKE ITS HEART AND HOLY WATER ITS MOUTH!!" Urdok frantically looks through his backpack for some garlic.

(Male Human Barbarian 6)

Cyrus is a bit confused as to whether attack the corpse or smack Urdok.

(Male Dwarf Warmage / 7)

Cyrus Drakkar wrote:

this one actually made me chuckle out loud :D

(Male Lizardman Monk 4/ Lizardman 2 (+1 LA))

Fang looks at the red rod he's been carrying around and then at the blue rod. It takes him a second, but there's an obvious flash of insight on his otherwise vacant lizardfolk face. And seeing no one else reacting he walks in and attempts to grab the blue rod from the top of the sarcophagus.

Nice catch, Ross. I missed it.

From the back of the crowd Amar cranes his neck trying to see what's in the tiny room. He holds his magical torch high to help everyone else see too.

(Male Human fighter 6)

"Urdok? This one is dead'n not movin'."

Halga looks over to Fang and the rod and smiles. "Another key, is it? Good eye there, Fang."

(Male Dwarf Warmage / 7)

"Aye, well ye cant's blame a fella fer bee'in ancey. Not every day ya run inter a pack o' dead guys runnin' around tryin' ter kill a guy and his mates, then findin a secret room with a cadaver n' a getup like that."

(Male Human fighter 6)

"Aye, tis true. Also not every day ya get shipwrecked and forced ta go lookin' through secret rooms like this."

Halga looks over to Fang. "Do ya reckon this one goes in that pedestal we passed? Or ya thinkin' it unlocks tha doors?"

maybe to much of robert's rules, but point of clarification. On closer examination both the door to this room and the lid of this carcophogus are both carved of stone. Neither one reacts to the partys presence.

OK I was really tired when I wrote that...

The sarcophogus has a top carved in stone to resemble a person holding a rod and dagger. Paint on the stone gives it a color. The secret door is carved in stone also, when opened it laid down allowing access through it. If you feel your character has nothing to contribute to this, let me know (preferably in character). If you are not in this room let me know that as well.

(Male Halfling Paladin 2)

"No evil skellys in here."

(Male Dwarf Warmage / 7)

Urdok looks at Abe and say's in a mournful voice, "yet..."

(Male Lizardman Monk 4/ Lizardman 2 (+1 LA))

Fang is still attempting to grab the rod from off the sarcophagus he's not going to be dissuaded by it being part of the lid...

Amar stands outside in the big hall, looking back and forth for more skeletons to emerge from the darkness.

Fang's constant struggle against the stone eventually pays off. The sculpture moves, creating the thinnest line of an opened lid.

(Male Human Barbarian 6)

Cyrus looks at Fang and offers his help as well.

(Male Dwarf Warmage / 7)

Urdok looks at Cyrus and Fang, and promptly cheers them on.

(Male Halfling Paladin 2)

Abe joins in the cheering.

GIve me an F. --- GIve me an A. --

Cyrus lends his considerable strength to the scaly one's and the lid slides off the sarcaphogus. With barely a whisper dozens of spears slide out of the floor, piercing foot, leg and body of all those inside the room.

Fang 1d6 ⇒ 1 spears.
Cyrus 1d6 ⇒ 4 spears.
Abe 1d6 ⇒ 6 spears.
Leo 1d6 ⇒ 6 spears.
Halga 1d6 ⇒ 3 spears.
Urdock 1d6 ⇒ 3 spears.

Now that I know how many I need to roll I will make some attack and damage rolls, but not until later tonight. You will need to make as many fort saves as I get hits though if you want to start on those.

feeling guilty about traps on a pbp, which might be part of my delay in posting... Nah it is just a monkey-gripped RL and its huge club

Inside the sarc rests Teonahwanhi's skeletal corpse. The long dead shaman holds a blue stone rod in one hand and a masterwork dagger in the other. Around his neck is a golden medallion set with a shining pink pearl.

(Male Dwarf Warmage / 7)

1d20+4=10, 1d20+4=21, 1d20+4=10 Fort saves, add +2 for the dwarven racial bonus if it is poison please :D

Urdok howls as spears strike him in various tender parts. Drawing his scimitar he begins to hack at the spears between him and the entrance to the room. Stopping he raises his fists at the gods who seem to make him pause at times for an inordinate amount of time, then sudden action that involves extreme pain.

:P :P :P :P :P :P :P

(Male Lizardman Monk 4/ Lizardman 2 (+1 LA))

Fang wonders how as the most guilty of all he could get away with only one spear, while those who had very little part in the desecration with the exception of the pom-poms are poked many, many, many times. Must be clean living...

Fort Save:1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11

(Male Halfling Paladin 2)

"Oy!"

Fort saves:
1d20 + 11 ⇒ (6) + 11 = 17

1d20 + 11 ⇒ (11) + 11 = 22
1d20 + 11 ⇒ (17) + 11 = 28

Can't be clean living. None much cleaner than ol' Abe...

"Arp!"
Fort saves:
1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10
1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25
1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14

1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19

What about Mazie?

Got to love those Paladinly saves though.

Amar jumps at the sound of the spears driving toward his porcupined companions. "Sorry, sirs. Here let me help you with those." He steps into the room to help.

fort save 2=1d20 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8
fort save 3=1d20 + 7 ⇒ (11) + 7 = 18
Sorry, I haven't been around much lately. Family health issues. All better now though.

"Oy!Give me someone ta fight an I'm happy. To blazes with these traps."

Haga glances down at his new holes and grimaces. "Here's a sure way to ruin yer shirt."

(Male Human Barbarian 6)

Fort 1 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (15) + 9 = 24
Fort 2 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (1) + 9 = 10
Fort 3 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (7) + 9 = 16
Fort 4 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (13) + 9 = 22

Cyrus glares and nearly punches the lizard because he knows deep down somehow this was it's falt but before doing so he realizes that it is more likely shear dumb luck.

"I hate the land," Cyrus laments.

If it misses it misses.

Fortunately the corpse inside lies quietly through commotion. The dagger, necklace, and rod--at least in terms of interest--rise to the occasion.

(Male Halfling Paladin 2)

Thats 5 hits on Abe and 6 on Leo. What is the Fort save DC?

Abernathus Burbuckle wrote:

D'Oh! what are ye worried 'bout that for? *blush* DC 13 damage is 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7 for each spear (rolled once for simplicity).

Abe: also not sure how many you can make but doesn't a ride check let you negate attacks on the critter?

(Male Dwarf Warmage / 7)

[ooc] Urdok fails 2 saves [/ooc}

Urdok gulps and stumbles towards Amar, hurt much worse than he first thought.

Amar examines the verbose dwarf.

unskilled heal check 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7Great, he finds the spear sticking out of Urdok's belly.
Curaigh, any obvious symptoms or effects.

Since I planned Amar as a healbot, I am mortified to discover that I forgot to take ranks in heal.

Looks like we'll have to dig deep into the potions stash.
