"Appears so. This locket has a bit of magic on it. Very dull. Strange. And there's this book of sorts. I can't spot a Fire Trap on it but back up a bit and I'll open it."
When they do he cautiously opens the photo album.
"It's a picture book."
He holds it up for them to take, as he tries to open the locket carefully.

Tam carefully takes the book, then flips to the front and slowly starts to go through it.
"This feels awfully invasive. I hope we find something here that can help," he says as he sits on the edge of the bed.
You notice that at a certain point in the book, pictures of two people you can only assume were Ryo's parents stop. From that point, pictures of Keaton and Ryo become scarce, usually showing one or the other. But in each picture, love and happiness seems to emanate. On the inside of back cover, something is wriiten in flowing script.
Tam feels along the inside of the covers for any signs of separation - specifically for any place a photo could be slid in between the covers and the binding. He'll also check to see if any pictures are 'stacked' in any of the album slots.

Behind one of the larger photos, you find one of Ryo's cards. The title says "The Gate."
"Uh oh - I found one of Ryo's cards in here," Tam calls out to the other two.
Cast Detect Magic on the card.
"Well, I guess you should hang on to that. It must be important if he went to all that trouble to hide it."
She stood in the center of the room, observing the placement and movements of the mites. Seeing Kannic's difficulties with the locket she held out her hand.

"May I try?"
"Sure. We should be sure to place these things back where we found them when we're done though.
Aananda holds the locket in front of her eyes, examining both the mites on it and what's visible of the mechanism that opens and closes it. She considers whether the hinges/clasp are stuck in which case a drop of oil might do the trick. Or perhaps she simply needs to remove the hinges.
She tries those, in that order. She is very careful about her disassembly attempts and is making sure not to lose any pieces so she can put it back together after.

*bangs head against wall*
Still haven't figured out the dagger either I assume? Think about what Ryo is/does, and you should get it.
To be fair, I don't think we know enough about what Ryo is/does to make the connection.
He is a Seer. A diviner who finds things(and can sometimes see possible futures). If you're scrying for someone, what helps?
A familiar object and reflective surface. But is the dagger/locket/book his or Keaton's? At least they're together now. Hmmm... Sounds like we need the Pocket Scryer by Ronco, or some sucker..err...I mean helpful mage.

No matter what she tries, the locket won't open. She sees the motes moving to wherever she tires to open the locket.
Kannic takes Aananda by the arm and they move to the doorway. Kannic makes sure the hallway is clear.
"Hope you don't risk destroying that thing."
"Huh? Ohhh - no, I'm just trying a knock spell. I just don't want either of you to lose your clothing in the process - this spell can be a little wonky sometimes," Tam says as he starts to move his hands and mutter some words in Draconic.
Tam casts knock on the locket to try and unlock it.
The locket rocks back and forth almost violently, then.. stays closed.
This is one of those 'family only' objects. You can carry it, but you're going to need stronger magic to open(despite the fact it doesn't seems to have much magic)
"Hmmm. Okay, that's about all I've got at the moment. I guess we need to either find another professional diviner or wait for one of your people can spot where those two are at right now, Kannic. Guess I should've studied that school a bit more at Academy," Tam says, rubbing his chin.
"Let me see if I've got anything else that might work," he mutters as he pulls out his spellpad and starts searching through his newest spell acquisitions.
"Oooo - this might get us something. Okay, make sure nobody's walking around out there. This is going to look silly."
Tamrin proceeds to pull out a small item and look at it, orienting himself based on what he sees. He then casts a spell, doing a bizarre dance while chanting and facing four different directions (probably the cardinal compass directions). This goes on for about a minute, then he stops.
Circle Dance, Wiz3 (divination), no save, no SR. Basically tells Tam in which cardinal direction Ryo is, and a general impression of his physical and emotional condition (unharmed, wounded, unconscious, dying, etc.). If he's on another plane or dead, Tam would get nothing.

Why am I picturing my mother doing the Chicken Dance? ;P

The way I'm imagining him 'pointing out' Ryo, I'm seeing Thriller.

Yeah yeah yeah - don't argue with results! ;D
Tam stops, facing south.
"Ryo's heading this direction, relative to us," he says, pointing south. "He's physically okay at the moment, but emotionally, he's a Pot Luck Special. I have no idea if Keaton is with him currently or not, but it would be safer to assume so."
He puts the item away, and closes the album, pocketing the card on Aananda's recommendation.
"Do we go now, or rest up and try in the morning?"

"We still need some supplies. We can check regular shoppes."
"Well, if he's moving at a walking pace we should have plenty of time to get supplies and still catch up with him. I hope you can drive a skimmer, Kannic. I really think we should take the hoverbikes. Speed and maneuverability seem like they'd be really useful things to have when dealing with this creature."

"Plus being able to cover more ground faster between the three of us wouldn't hurt either, if they are further south than we think. I'm in," Tam says with a grin.
"Kannic - have you found out where your shop moved to yet?"
"Yes, on the new location for the entry. No, on driving the skimmer. We don't have much use for them in the tunnels. But don't worry about me keeping up. I took care of that need last time we were at the shop."
"Well, the skimmer would have been useful for bringing Ryo back, but if you can't drive it, you can't. We'll think of another way."
"It just means that one of us has to drive the skimmer then. I guess I can do that."
"Hmmm. I can probably rig a tow-self onto the back so you can at least take your hoverbike if you want."
"It sounds like we'll need to. Though it might slow us down to tow the bike along for this 'retrieval'."
"Not really. Skimmers aren't the fastest vehicles to start with. But they sure do go faster than walking. I'll just go take care of that rig while you guys go shopping for vampire hunting supplies."

Sorry for the slow posts. We're two folks down at the office today, and things be slammed...
"Okay. That means we need to be fast. How far away is this place, Kannic?"
"You needn't fuss with rigging anything. Ryo can fit on the back of my...ride. Tunnel lizards are used to heavy loads."
"The shop is close. It'll move after we visit it. With Ryo compromised it's safer that way."
Heading out, Kannic leads them to the alley behind Thorg's shop. A door that wasn't there before is on the wall, with a surly looking guard standing next to it.
He leads them thru the door and down the same flight of stairs they used last time, and knocks on the same door to gain entrance.
"Here we go. No discounts though this time. This is a favor."
