I'll make a post when I get home tonight.

Also, I might point out in case anyone doesn't know it yet, that you can now roll dice.

Example: 1d20+2

Yeah, it's awesome.

The group moves to the North-Eastern stairs and heads down to go to the library. On the ground level they find a hallway with a windows lining it, providing a breathtaking view of the mountains. Two orcs dressed in scale mail are, apparently, standing guard here. They give the group a brief look, but other than that ignore them. There are two doors on the left side of the passageway and another door at the far end.

(Female Elf Duskblade 1)

"Ilyanes minariel selyn aeir."

Sylvan:
Now here is pause for thought.

Ilantes dares a closer look at the orcs outside what is apparently the library, but trying not to be obvious about her intentions. She looks to Ulm and Sergeant as they walk down the hall.

As she lets her gaze flicker over the armored orken, she tries to size up their fighting potential, or see if she can determine more about their purpose by the style of clothing they are wearing.

Spot
1d20 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 2 = 16

"Perhaps your strategies will work here better than mine."

Just a point of clarification, the orcs are in the hallway outside of the library, not the library itself. Carry on.

You can try to make spot checks to see any additional details about the orcs, if you wish.

You pass down the hallway and through the second door.

This chamber holds a large collection of books. Leather chairs, several tables holding candles, and even a wheeled ladder to reach the higher shelves fill the room. A few braziers are scattered throughout the room, and a soft red rug covers the floor. A door leads to another chamber to the West.

(Male Dwarf Wizard (Transmuter) 1)

Ulm walks into the library, ignoring the orcs. He immediately begins to examine the collection of books. He seems especially interested in historical accounts of the area.

I look for interesting books. Search Check: 1d20 ⇒ 5.

Juco glances at the orcs, suspicious as to why they are on this floor of the building...

1d20 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10

He soons turns his attention to the books, hoping to find some on plant or animal life, though he doesn't expect to find any in this place.

1d20 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10

The library seems pretty extensive, but you are not exactly sure how it is organized. Url, you find some historical text, but the deal mostly with the Chelish invasion/migration.

Juco, you don't notice anything too out of the ordinary about the orcs, besides the obvious fact that they are orc acting as guards. You do find some books dealing with the local flora and fauna.

(Male Dwarf Wizard (Transmuter) 1)

As much as I'd love to study the texts here, unless someone has another idea I think we should head back over to the observatory.

"Maybe I can buy some copies in the town when this all dies down." Juco thinks to himself as he looks at the books for a moment, before turning to see if the others are ready to leave.

There is another door in the library, if you are interesting in investigating further. Or you could head back up stairs to see about the observatory.

Juco, wondering why he didn't notice it before, goes to investigate what may lie beyond the door. He puts an ear to it to try to hear anything that may be behind it, then checks to see if it is unlocked.

Listen:1d20 + 7 ⇒ (19) + 7 = 26

(Female Elf Duskblade 1)

Ilantes looks around the library with an attentive eye.

"Do you suppose the orcs were the creatures that the servants warned us of? I still do not see any reason for their presence here. It is a little unnerving."

She searches the library for tomes of magic or history, anything that might be related to Thassilonian magic or history.

Search 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10

Ilantes:
You edited your previous post and I missed the spot check, sorry. When you took a look at the orcs, there was a flicker of red in their eyes, like smoldering fire. There was certainly something unnatural about them.

While searching the books, you find some on the Riddleport arch and some of the structures in Maginimar.

Juco:
You think you hear some squeaking sounds which might be someone talking, but it is to faint too make out any words if it is someone.

(Male Dwarf Wizard (Transmuter) 1)

"Orcs are unusual but I do not believe their presence is actually illegal. We should proceed with caution though. Juco, if you could perform reconnaissance in the next room we shall stand ready to assist you."

Ulm moves to stand near, but not too close, to the other door.

Juco holds a finger to his lips, calling for silence, then points to the door, indicating someone is on the other side. Gripping his staff, he tries to open the door slightly so they can hear clearer and see whoever is talking.

DM stuff:
Juco Move Silently: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19

Listen: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11

Listen DC 15:
You hear a voice quietly whispering to itself in the room. Nobody happens to understand the language it is speaking (I checked).

Juco mimes opening the door and whacking whoever is in there with his staff.

Juco Aki wrote:

And then waits to see if anyone else has an idea.

(Female Elf Duskblade 1)

Ilantes tilts her head to one side as she listens to the sounds coming from the other side of the door, but she remains silent, wondering what the others want to do about their current situation.

Listen1d20 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 2 = 15

"May I help you?" asks a voice from the door to the hallway. Turning you see a young woman standing there, looking questioning at you.

Thin to the point of being skeletal, this young woman has a small mouth, narrow nose, and large blue eyes. Her hair is stringy and brittle. Her clothes hang from her bones, emphasizing how horrid she truly is.

Ilantes turns toward the sound of the voice in the hallway, her eyes wide in surprise, but she does her best to recuperate.

"Oh hello. One of the servants informed us there was a library, and I was interested in knowing if you had any works on arcane lore, since I am a fastidious student of the arcane. The guards didn't seem to mind, so I hope we're not intruding."

[oc]I'm going to have to exit this. Good luck finding someone new.[/ooc]

(Male Dwarf Wizard (Transmuter) 1)

Sorry, I was out of town last week. I must say that I like my character and this game, but I'm currently a dwarf out of his depth.

"Excuse me miss. I would like to speak with Helmut before dinner. Could you direct me to his room?"

"Oh we several books that discuss the arcane nature of things. But I'm sure they will seem trivial to a knowledgable and beautiful scholar as yourself." Her words have a bitter ring to them. "Still I can point them out to you if you are interested."

Turning to the dwarf, "Helmut's room is currently being used for ... other reasons. I am not sure where he will end up being settled," her voice lowers as if she is speaking only to herself, "perhaps he'll have to room with Kris or Erich, that would show them what it is like." Then as if becoming aware of the group again she goes on to say, "If I see Helmut, I will inform him that you are interested in meeting him. Is there something you wish to learn in the library as well? Metal working texts perhaps?"

(Female Elf Duskblade 1)

Ilantes nods carefully, looking at the title of a nearby book that's caught her attention. She turns to look at the door they were about to go through, but doesn't say anything.

Sorry, I lost my dot.

Looking again at the books he found earlier, Juco wonders what natural wonders are described within ther pages.

After pointing out what texts the library has for various materials, she then takes a book off a shelf and asks if there is any other questions, if not she shall retire to the study and starts moving towards the room the group was going to enter before she arrived.

(Female Elf Duskblade 1)

Sorry to ask this so late... but has the game died?
