Snaggletooth's mind races. "Is it possible? Are we perhaps on the wrong side here?" he thinks to himself. Then he remembers what Gratitude and the other cultists said. "You not want cure for magic sickness, you just want more power. You want more people to get magic sickness, make more people like you." He looks over at Brujo and nods towards him. "I see magic sickness, in friend Brujo. I see how it hurt him and affect his mind. He fights the sickness, but not you. You like the sickness, you want more sickness because sickness gives you power. You NOT good guy." Snaggletooth voice is resolute in its tone, the indecision is gone.

"You stole the relics of a paladin of my order. It has given me a distaste for you and your works."

Leo's tone is as cool and dispassionate as he can make it.

Volkanth shakes his head. "I'm re-uniting them with their owner."

He tenses, as Snaggletooth's tone changes and the spellplagued behind him shift slightly. "Believe me, I don't want power for myself."

Insight DC16

Spoiler:

He's sincere.

(Female Genasi Firesoul Wizard 7)

"Volkanth, I know you believe that you are doing the right thing, but I have seen what will happen if you do this. This ritual will not save you and others touched by the blue fire, it will destroy you, and when it is done it will destroy the entire world. You must stop, if not for me then for your followers," Perigia says. Diplomacy 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (11) + 8 = 19

He shakes his head slightly.

"My followers never wanted this. Look at them."

His eyes gesture towards the glowing and mis-shapen figures gathered in the chamber.

"Their transformation was not complete. Only the Dreamer's touch can heal them."

"I was truly blessed by my lady. Her touch is a touch of purity. She gave me the vision of the Dreamer and showed me how I could save them. Why don't you know this? She spoke of you. She wants you to join her. Perigia, help me."

(Male Human Bard/Warlord/Warlock/Circus Monkey/Soda Jerk/Etc)

Erik's mind whirls with everything going on. His muddled head feels like it's wrapped in cotton but he still manages to stumble into the chamber, sword drawn.

"Someone really needs to explain what's going on," says Erik as he stumbles into the chamber, more to himself than anyone in particular. He still manages to catch most of the conversation though.

Putting my anywhere around Brujo is fine.

Insight check 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (9) + 8 = 17

"I think he means it, but that probably just means that he's insane," Erik manages through the daze.

Save vs. Daze 1d20 ⇒ 12

"You speak of the creature that has possed my sister Fia," Perigia says. "Fia is...misguided, seeking revenge for a world that she thinks has wronged her. You are to be the instrument of that revenge by destroying all of Faerun. Believe me, the RFia that I knew would never want this."

Volkanth looks pityingly at Perigia.

"Fia is what she was always meant to be. Do you think the Dreamer would have chosen her as a vessel otherwise? I serve her, and I fear her. And I will complete this rite, with your help or without it. She has demanded it and I must obey her."

His hand moves slightly on his weapon.

"Perigia. If you want Fia to live, she needs this ritual. She is burning with power. Only the release of the Dreamer can save her."

This is just a map update and init order so we can all keep track of events.

Erik finally manages to shake the fog from his head and looks upon the scene with a clear mind.

"I can't believe you're all listening to this madman!" shouts Erik with an air of dramatic bravura.

"He has harassed defenseless pilgrims who gave me sanctuary. Good people, pious people. Also, he has filled this ancient place with abominations of every kind. Perigia, forgive me, but there must be another way to help your sister. I have heard this story before, and it never ends well for anyone involved."

The songblade in Erik's hand hums with a discordant note, seeming to share the bard's uneasy mood. Erik looks on the verge of action.

Rev, let me know when we're back in initiative. If no one's going to fight this round, I at least want to throw a heal in.

The lackeys will delay until Volkanth signals them to attack or stand down. If Erik wants to heal someone, now is the time. It does sound as though combat is about to begin again.

If combat starts up, the order will be as follows: -

"No, this is not what Fia, the real Fia, would want," Perigia says. "She would rather die than allow the thing that has possessed her to destroy the world, regardless of what it did to her."

"Then you will kill her as surely as if you had burned her with your own hand. I will not allow that."

Volkanth falls silent and gestures to the lackeys.

Once Snaggletooth tells if he wants to take advantage of Erik's shift, I'll deal with the lackeys. Back into combat we go.

(Male Kobold Rogue 6)

shift to opposite Leo, n9 (Thanks Erik)

As Snaggletooth shifts, Volkanth drops his hand and the lackeys move in.

Tears fill the tiefling's eyes and stream eerily down his flame-scarred face.

L3 v Erik (1d20+14=28) 6hp damage to Erik

L4 hits Snaggletooth hard over the head.
L4 v Snaggletooth (1d20+14=31). 6hp damage to Snaggletooth.

L6 aims at Caine and misses.

Snaggletooth's blow is precise and destructive, but Volkanth hardly seems to heed the new wound in his side.

I'll give Caine a few more hours before acting on his behalf. Rad is pretty pushed at work I believe.

Caine surveys the battlefield and doesn't like what he sees. Shifting grimly towards the edge of the zone of blood, he grabs the opportunity to restore himself.

save=11, save=13, save=15 well, at least that's over (for now)

"Keep on leader, he must be stopped!" Snaggletooth tells his companions.

While Snaggletooth fights to recover himself a little, the seers look about them for fresh targets.

S1 takes on Perigia, sending a spinning ball of blue fire towards her and dazing the mage.
Warp Orb (Ref) S1 v Perigia (1d20+16=32, 1d8+6=12). 12hp damage to Perigia and she is dazed (se)

S2 clearly sees Leo as a threat and tries to reduce the paladin's options. Another ball of blue force flies across the chamber and dazes him.
Warp Orb (Ref) - on hit target is dazed (se) S2 v Leo (1d20+16=35, 1d8+6=12). 12hp damage to Leo and he is dazed.

Unable to do much, Leo still swings gamely at Volkanth, trusting in Kelemvor to help him in his hour of need. In this instance, the blood raining down on him makes his hands slip at a crucial moment and the attack is a failure. Nor can he shake the horror of his surroundings from his mind.

Fighting against the damage Brujo launches himself at his enemies

Shift to k11; Pressing Strike on B2, shift to m12, 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (10) + 10 = 20; Damage 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10 colf/fire, push the B2 1
square (k11).

Save 1d20 ⇒ 14

Brujo's attack just misses the berserk, but he manages to shift himself out of the zone of diseased blood. The speed of his passing is so great that B2 is shoved willy-nilly between Perigia and Erik.

B1 swings his greatsword at Caine, moving further into Volkanth's protective aura to do so.
1d20 + 14 ⇒ (18) + 14 = 32 - AC - 1d10 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9 9hp damage to Caine

The remaining berserks gaze at Perigia, called towards her by the amulet at her neck.

B2 turns and swipes at her with his sword.
1d20 + 14 ⇒ (19) + 14 = 33 - AC - 1d10 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11 11hp damage to Perigia

B3 moves past Leo who is dazed and can't make OAs, seemingly also drawn by the amulet.
1d20 + 16 ⇒ (1) + 16 = 17 - AC - Miss

B4 shifts in to the mage, surrounding her and grasping at the gem, sword falling from his grip as he does so.
1d20 + 10 ⇒ (16) + 10 = 26 - AC - unarmed claw attack. 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7 7hp damage to Perigia (total 18), makes secondary attack v Fort 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (15) + 9 = 24 (no damage, on hit, strike one for infection[/b]

Volkanth's voice rings out harshly. "Save us and your sister, Perigia. Their need maddens them."

(Male Human Bard/Warlord/Warlock/Circus Monkey/Soda Jerk/Etc)

"Get rid of the amulet Perigia, and then give them what for!" Erik shouts over the din of clashing blade and claw. His words bolster Perigia against the onslaught somewhat.

Erik then takes an impossibly deep breathe, his chest expanding against his scale armor. A thunderous roar escapes the bard's throat and washes over nearby enemies and allies. Enemies are tossed about and wracked with pain and allies are repositioned.

Erik then moves out of the life-sucking blood rain and points his sword at Volkanth, who no longer has cover from his ally. Erik's songblade glows brilliantly for a moment as he speaks an ancient, forgotten hymn to the morning light. When he finishes, a beam of light strikes Volkanth.

Erik smiles beneath his helm. "Now the show can begin."

Minor Action: Inspiring Word on Perigia; Perigia may spend a healing surge plus 1d6 ⇒ 2 extra hit points.
Move Action: Shift to L13
Standard Action: Shout of Triumph vs. FORT

  • 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (19) + 9 = 28 vs. B4; pushed to O12
  • 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (18) + 9 = 27 vs. L6; pushed to P11
  • A hit deals 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6 thunder damage
  • Cain is shifted to N7, out of the rain.
  • Snaggletooth is shifted to L7 for flanking

Free Action: Harsh Songblade Daily Power: All enemies within two squares of L6 when he is hit are dazed TEOMNT (This includes B1, B2, B3, B4, L4, L6, and Volkanth)
Action Point: Song of the New Dawn on Volkanth; 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (19) + 9 = 28 vs. REF for 2d8 + 5 ⇒ (4, 7) + 5 = 16 radiant damage and on a hit, Caine, Snaggletooth, and Leo can make a saving throw, rolling twice and taking the better roll.
  • Keep in mind Caine is out of the blood, so he can use his save on that ongoing damage.

    Rev:
What kind of weapon(s) is Volkanth using?

  • (Female Genasi Firesoul Wizard 7)

Perigia shifts to J11 and uses second wind. 1d20 ⇒ 1 for her save.

Saves for Caine and Leo (Snaggletooth has no effects on him)
    1d20 ⇒ 4 - Caine v ongoing
    1d20 ⇒ 17 - Caine v ongoing
    1d20 ⇒ 19 - Leo v daze

Perigia struggles to keep herself upright against the onslaught as Erik suddenly alters the whole field of battle.

As the glorious note bursts from his blade, his power is fully revealed for the first time.

When the note dies away, Snaggletooth finds himself perfectly positioned to attack the now bloodied Volkanth and that one of the lackeys has simply evaporated, unable to tolerate the piercing sound.

I hate you, Erik Annadar. Do you have any idea how long it's taken me to update the map? :D

Only one lackey can move and his attack fails to hit Erik. Sorry, lost the dice roll in the massive edit.

Volkanth tear-stained face turns reproachfully to Erik. "You doom us, you doom her," he pleads before striking at Snaggletooth.
    1d20 + 19 ⇒ (2) + 19 = 21 - Inc bonus for bloodied foes. 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9 - 9hp damage to Snaggletooth

Caine advances with fell purpose on Volkanth, nearly bisecting the tiefling and restoring his allies in the process.

Re-rolling this as part of the massive edit.
    Stand the Fallen v Volkanth
    1d20 + 12 ⇒ (1) + 12 = 13 - on hit allies within 10 squares can use a healing surge +6. Crit. Volkanth takes 30hp damage + 2d6 ⇒ (1, 4) = 5

ALL ALLIES can use a healing surge +6 immediately.

Rev, you probably missed the edit I made when adding the Harsh Songblade's daily. I made it after I realized I actually hit. Basically, all the baddies in that little cluster are dazed now. As such, I don't think Volkanth could have shifted unless he used an action point. Even if he does Snaggletooth should still have CA from the daze effect.
Sorry for the confusion. I didn't know you were working on your post so quickly and diligently. :)

Had to do a certain amount of reconning as Caine could not have been attacked by the lackey and Erik only by one of them. In the interests of strict fairness, I re-rolled Caine's attack and this time he critted Volkanth. I think we can safely say a corner has been turned in this battle :D

If any of the edit makes no sense, my apologies, but I think it's as close as I can get it to where it's meant to be.

    (Male Kobold Rogue 6)

riposte strike on Volkath (d20+14 vs AC, Crit! 34, damage is 6+5+2d8+3= 23 hp, and sets up an interrupt if he attacks me again)

Snaggletooth thinks to himself as he strikes, "May the Dreamer die with you!"

    35-9+19(surge+6)=45/53hp, 3 surges left

    "Onwards, my valiant comrades!"

    "The beast has been weakened!"

"Nomag wer dreamer loreat mrith wux"

The words hiss from the dreamstone blade as Snaggletooth strikes. Volkanth is unable to offer any kind of resistance to the attack and crumples beneath the blow. As his life ebbs away, he manages one look at Perigia.

"Save her ... save Fia ..."

Diseased blood rains down, unheeding of his death. The remaining spellplagued continue their headlong assault as the seers move towards the helpful aura of the statues to guide their attacks.

S1 launches a corruscating attack on Snaggletooth, Caine, Leo and Perigia.

Distortion blast (close burst 5, enemies only) v Fort
    Fort v Caine, Snaggletooth, Leo and Perigia (1d20+13=27, 1d20+13=23, 1d20+13=21, 1d20+13=29)
Damage from Distortion Blast (Seer 1) (2d8+6=15)

Hits all for 15hp damage and dazed (se).

The second seer makes the same attack from the other side of the room, targeting Brujo and Erik as well as Leo and Perigia once more.
    Fort v Brujo, Erik, Leo and Perigia (1d20+13=29, 1d20+13=33, 1d20+13=29, 1d20+13=27).
Damage from Distortion Blast (Seer 2) (2d8+6=11)

    Hits all. Crit on Erik.
    Erik takes 22hp damage
Brujo, Leo, Perigia take 11hp damage.

Perigia and Leo take 26hp damage each this round.

Leo's ire is now thoroughly roused. With a single sweep of his blade he smites B3, sending healing power into Perigia as he does so. Exhausted, he cannot shake the dazing effect of the attacks on his own mind.

    Righteous Smite on B3 (AC) (1d20+11=23, 2d8+6=21).
That hits. Perigia gets 7 temp hp.

You can't, unless you choose to use an action point. Searching would require a standard action.

    (Male Kobold Rogue 6)

no action point left, so I will wait until its my turn again. (or if we finish these guys)

Seeing Perigia in danger Brujo goes to her aid.

    Pressing Strike on B2, Shift to k12, 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (17) + 10 = 27; Damage 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13, and push 1 square (j10).

    Aegis of Shielding on b2

Brujo - two things. One, I need a save v daze from you. Two, you can't push B2 to J10 - that's the altar. I pushed him back to J11, but tell me you'd rather he went to L10 or L11 which are the only other options.

Brujo steps back into the rain of blood to support Perigia, hacking brutally at the nearest berserk as he goes.
Damage from blood rain (1d6=6). 6hp damage to Brujo from the blood and 3 ongoing necrotic (se)

The first three berserks slam furiously at their nearest targets, seemingly without any kind of tactical awareness.

B1 drives his greatsword into Snaggletooth, just finding his way past the kobold's deft defenses.
    B1 (AC) v Snaggletooth (1d20+14=21, 1d10+4=7). 7hp damage to Snaggletooth.

B2 turns on his tormenter and just misses the swordmage.
    B2 (AC) v Brujo (1d20+14=24, 1d10+4=5)

B3 targets Perigia, lunging for her neck and the glowing amulet around it.
    B3 (AC) v Perigia (1d20+14=23, 1d10+4=9). 9hp damage to Perigia.

B4 pauses, waiting for a more opportune moment, but its eyes are constantly drawn towards Perigia.

is there a magic item that prevents being dazed? because I want one of those.

    (Male Human Bard/Warlord/Warlock/Circus Monkey/Soda Jerk/Etc)

Erik, having few other choices, and being somewhat exhausted from his previous excursion does all he can, and swings at the lackey beside him with his humming songblade.

    Standard Action: War Song Strike vs. L8; 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (12) + 12 = 24 vs. AC for 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7 damage.

    Saving Throw vs. Daze 1d20 ⇒ 16

Caine shifts defensively out of the zone.

Can't access IC, please roll saving throw at +1

Erik casually destroys another lackey and shakes off the effects of the seer's attack. His songblade gleams in anticipation of further mayhem.

The two remaining lackeys launch attacks on Brujo and Caine respectively.
    L3 v Brujo L4 v Caine (1d20+12=22, 1d20+12=25).
Attack v Brujo misses. Attack v Caine hits. 6hp damage to Caine.

Undaunted, the warlord swings around to hit the club-wielding maniac, sending the man to instant death.
    L3 v Brujo L4 v Caine (1d20+12=22, 1d20+12=25)

Alas, he cannot shake the horrendous mental attack and remains dazed.

    Happy Halloween!

Snaggletooth? - longer than usual grace period as I'm out for part of today and don't have time right now to sort out Leo and all the upcoming Seer/berserk etc moves :)

    (Male Kobold Rogue 6)

I'm here! There was a NCIS halloween marathon yesterday and its daylight savings time so I got up later than usual. I will look at where we are post within the hour.

minor- shift to m6, next to the friggin' seer. save=14

Snaggletooth shifts closer to the nearest seer, sizing up his new prey.

The seer strikes at the kobold, pushing him back to where he started and then moving out of easy range himself.

Twisted Staff (AC). On hit target is pushed one square: Seer 1 v Snaggletooth (1d20+15=20, 1d8+6=13). 13hp damage to Snaggletooth.

Seer 2 continues to lead the attack on the unfortunate Perigia, sending another orb of blue fire in her direction.
Warp Orb (Ref). On hit target is dazed: Seer 2 v Perigia (1d20+16=34, 1d8+6=8). 8hp damage to Perigia. Would be dazed (se) if she wasn't already dazed (se). Please confirm hp status.

Leo gasps and shifts alongside his comrade, knowing he may have to call on Kelemvor to help him heal her if the worst befalls. In his urgent need, he manages to clear his own head at least.
    Save v Daze (Leo) (1d20=12)

NOTE: If Perigia is taken to 0 by the last attack, Leo will use his AP to Inspiring Word her.
