Shuriken says to the judges, rather nervously "My name is Shuriken Nekogami, i am nimble and precise, but frail and rather socially inept. would it be wrong to ask for certain accomodations on my tests? i am neither a warrior nor a spellcaster, but i am a ninja. as you probably have heard, ninja fight using every underhanded trick and ill aqcuired advantage they can possibly think of. don't expect me to conform to the concept of a fair fight. i haven't fought a single fair fight in my life. my father told me to exploit every advantage i can get."
After the three introduce themselves, Daryan makes a formal bow to them. He calmly states, "I am ready for these challenges," firm in his belief that his training has prepared him for this day.
Darstave crouches down to be on eye level with Shuriken, “I’m sorry, we don’t make any allowances for applicants.” He smiles at her thoughtfully before continuing, “but it’s for your own good really, if you aren’t ready to be a Pathfinder, it is better to find out now rather than at a crucial moment where it might cost you your life… and there is nothing stopping you from applying again later if you do fail.”
“Yes,” the elven man agrees, “you have plenty of time ahead of you, there is no need for you to worry should you not pass these tests. And for your other question, we expect all of you to take advantage of all of the skills at your disposal throughout these tests, so don’t worry about what you think is fair.”
After watching silently for a while, Lathario steps forward confidently, ”And I am Lathario Gellent, you may of heard of me… my family has made some significant donations to the Society recently.”
This announcement has little effect on the judges before you, who give him only a polite acknowledgement, a fact that seems to drain the noble of some of his swagger.
Since it doesn't look as if the tests will start quite yet, and lunch is looking farther and farther away, Garion sits down and takes a meat and cheese stuffed roll out of his pouch and commences eating.
Hi Lathario! Great to see you again! BIG smile for him
I'm sure the Society is REALLI happy for all those big donations! Can't run any decent honest business without money right?
NIK turns to the trio
hey is fund-rasing one of the tests? By Desna I m sure I ll be great at that!
Daryan nods towards all of the people that he met last night, "It is good to see all of you again." He faces the Pathfinders again. "What test is first?" Although he shows few outward signs of it, he is quite eager to begin.
NIK looks eager and ready to start too!
NIK eyes Alexian and wonders why he is a bit sleepy-eyed
"Must be that s**t waitress from the Crimson Coin that kept him up all night!" she wonders to herself grrrrrrrr

Noticing Nicephora glancing at him, Alexian gives a sleepy smile, squinting his eyes in the light.
“The first test will be a simple test of your knowledge, I will be asking you questions and you are to write the answer on a sheet of paper.” Darstave responds to Daryan.
“Well,” Merisyl intones with a glance towards the main gates, “if none of you have any further questions, we can begin… follow us closely.”
With this, the trio of Pathfinders turn towards the large double doors leading into Skyreach, into an impressive entry hall, then through a side door into a long winding corridor before climbing a set of stairs, and following a twisting network of interconnecting hallways and small meeting rooms.
Finally, after a good ten minutes of walking through these mazelike corridors, you finally emerge into a circular chamber with partitioned alcoves lining one half of the room, each alcove containing a simple desk with paper, ink and quills. “If you wouldn’t mind taking a seat at those desks,” Darstave smiles at the group, “we can get started.”
NIK enters the circular chamber and hops onto one of those alcove desk. Sitting with one leg folded and other dangling elegantly from the side of the desk (dancers, we like to make a show!), NIK grabs the ink and paper. NIK looks at DARSTAVE with a smile:
Samant takes one of the seats and looks at the quill a bit oddly. He reaches into his pack and pulls out an inkpen, filling it with ink from the vial in front of him. Do you mind if I use my own pen, I tend to be a bit hard on quill tips?
Alexian settles down carefully into the seat, his plate and mail sounding like a handleful of pots and pans tumbling down some steps, and takes the quill in hand.
Darstave gives Nik a small nod before turning to Samant, "That shouldn't be a problem," he then looks around to address the entire group, "though, I would ask that if any of you have any magical items, please could you hand them over to us for now. You will get them back immediately should you fail, or once your training is over should you be accepted as an initiate."
The only thing that's magic on me is my Kiss and you CANT have that ... yet! ... so no, nothing to hand over!
NIK tries to take advantage of the high position on her desk to peek at SAMANT's answers! He does look like a man of knowlegde ... well ... except for that big club thing he carries

Unfortunately the room seems to be designed to prevent just that, the partitions allow you all to see the judges in the centre of the room, but it is impossible to see the other applicants without leaning quite far out of your own alcove.
NIK realizes that she will have 2 face a test on her own! arrrrghhhh NIK hates school and tests! giggle
OK ... maybe it wont be too hard! NIK cheers up thinking that she is a smart girl after all, having survived the Absolom streets, taverns and fest halls!
NIK grabs her pen and writes her name at the top of the page, using long flowing letters: NICEPHORA, THE BRINGER OF VICTORY
NIK uses her sleight of hand to get her dagger out hidden from view and discreetely scratch a lil grafiti on the table, right in the small hole created by her folded leg. The grafiti says ... NIK WAS HERE!
Once everyone has taken their seats, Darstave moves to the centre of the chamber, where he is clearly visible from each of the alcoves, "Okay, we'll start out with some questions about the Society itself... Question one, in which year was the Pathfinder Society Founded?"
Since you're prospective members, I'll allow this knowledge check to be made untrained, so you can all attempt the Knowledge(History) check for the answer (or intelligence check if you have no ranks.).
Would you rather have individual questions like this, or would you prefer to just make a few checks for the entire test?
You can't remember the exact date immediately, but you do remember that the 400th anniversary was a couple of years ago. (The current year is 4709AR.)
Samant:
While there are some reports stating that the Pathfinders where active as early as 4305AR, you recall that the Society was officially founded in 4307AR.
Shuriken had no magic items to pass either. she attempts to answer the questions. hoping she got them right. she hadn't really been educated in history having spent most of her life training as a ninja. she gives a random guess. if she couldn't become a pathfinder intiate,
she'd at least like to be a junior initiate and work from there.
Knowledge (History)
1d20 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 2 = 16
calix:
is this enough to pass the first test?
i'd like just a few simple checks for the tests, a single check for each one, suited to the type of test.
Unfortunately, your mind goes completely blank of the question, you're sure it must be at least a century ago... but beyond that, you're not really sure.
Shuriken:
While you normally don't have a good memory for dates, you have a flash of inspiration and recall reading the first volume of the Pathfinder Chronicles, it was published in 4317AR, and it mentioned that the society was founded 10 years earlier.
Okay, I'll wrap the rest of this test up in this post, and I'll wait for everyone to post before moving on. Please can you all make one of each type of knowledge check (or an int check for each knowledge you don't have ranks in - there are a total of 10 knowledge skills, so you should be making 9 more checks if you've already made the history check.
As Darstave continues on which his questions, apparently calling upon them from memory as he carries no notes, he leaves you a few seconds for consideration between each. The questions call upon a wide variety of subjects, some in more depth than others, but everyone is able to at least make an educated guess at some of the questions. After the fiftieth question, he lets out a long breath, "...and that was the final question, if you would like me to repeat any of them, feel free to say so now."
Shuriken gives plenty of fairly decent but still random guesses, a portion of which, seem to be stuff most experts know on average. whilst failing her knowledge of nature. she turned out to actually have listened to more of her father's lectures than not.
Knowledge Arcana
1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20
Knowledge Religion
1d20 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 2 = 21
Knowledge Dungeoneering
1d20 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 = 12
Knowledge Engineering
1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18
Knowledge Nobility
1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18
Knowledge Planes
1d20 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 2 = 15
Knowledge Local
1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19
Knowledge Geography
1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18
Knowledge Nature
1d20 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
i counted only 9 knowledge skills, oh wait, i found the 10th
Samant is sastified with this part of the test, but realizes he has a limited base of knowledge. He promises to buckle down and start reading everything he can get his hands on in regards to the other subjects he feels limited in. He also feels he had gleaned more knowledge than he previosly thought, knowing the answers to some questions he never would have thought he had known.
NIK realizes she has MUCH 2 learn still!
Maybe that s why deep down she wants 2 be part of the Society: maybe one day she will have travelled 2 all these exotic places and will know about so many exciting things!
NIK smiles to herself as she remembers why she got a good answer on the Knowledge: Nobility question.
Nobles DO talk a LOT when you "entertain" them! giggle
Before the test, Daryan passes over his Ioun stone, saying that although it has no actual power, it is technically magical.
As the questions continued, Daryan begins to realize how little he had learned about the world at the monastery. He knows a decent amount about religious things, history, and places, but other things tended to be just shots in the dark.
He reflected that this is something that he needs to work on, since Irori teaches that his followers should gain knowledge of all things, although this tends to be secondary to his other teachings.
Zeldin is in awe of this place. It is not only the beauty, but more importantly a new start. He thinks about how much he owes Pither for giving him this chance, for pointing him in this direction. Excitement coursing through him, he sees sparks from his fingers as he prepares to write.
Breathe in, breathe out... Just like Pither taught.
Once he gets control, he takes his best try at the questions before him.
Alexian sighs to himself as he scribbles down what he knows...wishing he was smashing in an enemies face instead of writing, hoping he spelled Iomedaye correctly...
Shuriken seemed to sweat in desperation, hoping what she had remembered from father's lectures was enough. she was shaking and shivering nervously, she had already finished her test, but she seemingly remembered quite a lot from her father's lectures, her nerves were skittering from stress. in her golden eyes, each pair of slit like pupils begins to become thinner. and her eyes take on a greener hue, her sign of stress, the opposite of her common changes from joy where her eyes would become more ambery, and her pupils wider. she begins to thank her older sister beneath her breath. for watching over her from beyond the styx. she also prays to the Nekogami, the divine entity her father once claimed to be descended from. Kami were just as powerful as gods, however, they weren't as indestructable.
i rolled my knowledge checks in a previous post, just look above, if you total each check result including the history one i made, the combined results equal 160. not counting history, the other 9 still equal 144.
You feel quite confident about your performance, but there's no way of knowing for sure if you have passed this section until you are told by the judges.
