(Female Human (from the North- Ulfen) Rogue 2)

"Zeldin's right! Remember there is magic! Don't get turned into toads guys! Then again I culd Kiss you all back into the princes you all are! ... magic ... you think there could be magic sandals inside?"

(Female Human (from the North- Ulfen) Rogue 2)

NIK sees Sabine looking at her. NIK smiles: she's never had a true girlfriend growing up. This could be something she needs!

(Male Human (Vudrani) Cleric 1)

Samant hearing the thunk into the floor, looks to his other strong types. Sounds like something fell through the bottom of the cube. Help me move this

Strength Check 1d20+2

Daryan can't help but grin despite himself, listening to the others talk. He approaches the cube to assist in the lifting where he can find a spot to get an arm in.

Strength Check: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 1 = 12

An assist only requires a 10, right?

(Female Human (from the North- Ulfen) Rogue 2)

NIK smiles encouragingly at Daryan, glad to see he is joining the others in this manly task of pushing the Cube!

"Remember," Lathario interjects enthusiastically, "lift with your legs, not your back!"

With the combined effort, and Lathario's "useful" advice, the box is lifted away, leaving behind a small lead box resting on the smooth stone slab from the bottom of the cube.

yes, to assist only needs a result of 10 or more.

(Female Human (from the North- Ulfen) Rogue 2)

NIK peeks and tries to have a good look at it, trying to see if there could be some hidden nasty stuff like needles or if there is a lock or latch or hinges. Remembering Zeldin's wise words, she looks at the gang and says:
"You think it could be a magic box or magic inside?"

Nik aka Nicephora wrote:

Softly, and then with a bit more force Zeldin offers Please back up everyone and I will see if I can tell...

He murmers a few words and looks intently at the small box.

Calix:
Zeldin casts Detect Magic.

(Female Human (from the North- Ulfen) Rogue 2)

NIK backs up to give Zeldin room.
"Lead is one of the heaviest metals made by the Gods Zeldin. If there is magic inside will u be able to tell?"

Nik aka Nicephora wrote:

Zeldin flushes slightly and says I do not know. I do not understand all of the things I can do.

Nik aka Nicephora wrote:

Very good point, and please can you make a perception check for your search for traps.

Zeldin detects no magic emanating from the box, which seems to have no lock beyond a simple latch holding the lid closed.

(Female Human (from the North- Ulfen) Rogue 2)

"Dont worry! I dont get magic any more then i get philosophy! Still it dont mean we cant use our smarts 2 figure stuff out right? Desna smiles on those who think on their feet!"

(Female Human (from the North- Ulfen) Rogue 2)

Perception 4 traps: 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 4 + 1 = 16

Nicephora doesn't find any signs of traps on the box, it would seem to be safe to open.

Nik aka Nicephora wrote:

Zeldin gives Nik a small smile and reports:

Either you are right that my magic will not work on lead, or it is not magical... I cannot sense any magic from it.

(Female Human (from the North- Ulfen) Rogue 2)

NIK carefully opens the lid, making sure Zeldin can still see it just in case that makes a difference...
"Desna be kind 2 your fave dancing girl!"

The latch moves aside easily, letting the lid open smoothly. Inside the box are two rolls of parchment, one bound closed with a light blue ribbon, the other tied closed by a thin piece of twine.

Is Zeldin still concentrating on his spell?

Is Zeldin still concentrating on his spell?

Yes, assuming Zeldin can carry on light conversation. If that breaks concentration, then Zeldin will recast when Nik gets the box open.

Zeldin Tarr wrote:

Concentration only requires a standard action each round, so you can speak a little.

As the lid lifts, Zeldin's augmented senses suddenly detect the presence of a magical aura from within. Please can you make a spellcraft check to identify the school.

Spellcraft:1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15

Oops, I'm sorry! Identifying the school of magic has changed to a Knowledge(arcana) check in Pathfinder.

(Female Human (from the North- Ulfen) Rogue 2)

NIK watches all amazed! What kind of magical scrolls could they be?
"A silver coin the one with the twine is the better one! Desna's instinct!" giggle

Calixymenthillian wrote:

No worries... That just gives me a better bonus. :) If you want me to keep the old roll, then just add one to it otherwise,

1d20 + 7 ⇒ (10) + 7 = 17

You make the DC with either roll, so it makes little difference.

The aura is faint, emanating from the scroll with the blue ribbon, and is of the Divination school.

Nik aka Nicephora wrote:

You may be right Nicephora, but the other one seems to be magical. Zeldin says softly.

(Female Human (from the North- Ulfen) Rogue 2)

"Is it dangerous to take a peek? I ll peek at the not-magic one! The one I had a feeling about!"
NIK takes the twine one and opens it, shows it to all so we can all share in reading it.

(Male Human Barbarian 1 (favoured))

Samant will lean in closer to get a better look. We probably need to open them... Who would like the honor?

(Female Human (from the North- Ulfen) Rogue 2)

"I was about to Samant but scholar stuff is NOT my thing so if you wanna look ..."
NIK removes the twine thing and opens the scroll but lets Samant or anyone else more scholar read it if they want (and make a move for that)
If not she ll read it cuz after all Desna gave her the instinct it was a good one for her! :-)

The scroll contains a few lines of runes in various shapes and sizes, it seems almost completely meaningless.

None of you have the appropriate language, but you can make a Linguistics check to decipher it if you have ranks in that skill. You can also make a Knowledge(history) check if you have ranks in that to identify the language.

(Female Human (from the North- Ulfen) Rogue 2)

Not understanding it, NIK gives the scroll to anyone with skill so he can take over!
off 2 the gym then eat then work! catch u all later tonight or tomorrow! Big Kiss

Zeldin takes a quick look but does not understand what he sees. He moves away so those with more skills in this area may have a look.

(Male Human Barbarian 1 (favoured))

Samant takes the scroll in hand hmmm... let me see if i recognize the script. I won't be able to read it but I may be able to place its origins... He trails off mumbling to himself.

knowledge history1d20 + 10 ⇒ (16) + 10 = 26

(Female Human (from the North- Ulfen) Rogue 2)

NIK lurks around Samant to see what he will do: will he read the scroll or bash it with his big club? giggle

(Female Human (from the North- Ulfen) Rogue 2)

"So no one here can read this? What about the magical one?"

Nik aka Nicephora wrote:

HAHAHAHAHA

Samant:
From the three distinct types of rune present, you are convinced that they are almost certainly part of the Thassilonian alphabet.

(Male Human Barbarian 1 (favoured))

Samant eyes light up as the scroll's origins comes to light before him, It is of Thassilonian script. Though I am unable to pierce the scrolls meaning. Feeling triumphant he hands the scroll back to Nik.

Zeldin what of the other "Magic" scroll?

Samant Blath'tan wrote:

Zeldin what of the other "Magic" scroll?

Zeldin looks to Samant, and then to Nik and at the box. Feeling a preassure to go forward, he takes the magic scroll out and unwraps it and tries to read it.

(Female Human (from the North- Ulfen) Rogue 2)

"Way to go Samant! Its up to you now Zeldin! You can do it!"

Opening the scroll reveals lines of magical notation, the style in which it has been scribed is not completely familiar to the sorcerer.

It's a Spellcraft check to decipher the scroll. Or a read magic spell if you can cast it.

Zeldin does not have Read Magic so a Spellcraft check it is...

Zeldin considers the scroll carefully, hoping to be able to see some pattern or to recognize something that might help to discern what this scroll is all about.

Spellcraft:1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7

Gah! Another 1. :) Someone else will need to give it a shot.

Actually, there's nothing stopping you from retrying an attempt to decipher the scroll, only identifying items through detect magic has a restriction. You could even take 20 if you wanted to spend a couple of minutes.

(Female Human (from the North- Ulfen) Rogue 2)

NIK puts a friendly hand on Zeldin's shoulder to encourage him!

Zeldin is willing to put in the time. He will take 20. Do I need to roll for that? I think I do not but will include a roll just in case.

Zeldin struggles to make sense of it. Nothing comes to mind and he starts to flush in embarrassment. When Nik puts her hand on his shoulder he is drawn back to the moment. He desperately tries to recall the things Pither taught him...

Spellcraft:1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9

When you take 20, you're basically deciding to keep trying until you roll a 20. So it takes 20 times as long, but you will eventually get the best result possible (along with the worst, which is why you can only take 20 when failing doesn't have any consequences).

Pouring over the scroll, Zeldin manages to finally grasp the meaning behind it. The scroll details the prayers and offerings necessary to call upon divine insight to understand languages otherwise unknown. It's a divine scroll of comprehend languages.

(Female Human (from the North- Ulfen) Rogue 2)

"Can you tell what it is Zeldin?"

"Using that spell, I should be able to read the Thassilonian scroll. May I?" asks Garion.

Zeldin tell Nik what he believes it is and then he happily passes the scroll to Gorian.

(Male Half-Elf Cleric 1)

Garion casts Comprehend Languages from the scroll and scans the Thassalonian scroll.
