Shuriken takes 20 to search the entire room, especially the cube for any traps and takes 20 to disable any, as well as making sure her kimono doesn't get caught on them.
percpetion (take 20 to find traps)
20+7
disable device (take 20 to disable any traps)
20+9
reflex save, (take 20 to make sure her kimono doesn't get caught)
20+6
Taking 20 on both Perception and Disable Device will take her almost 5 minutes, not taking into account that you technically can't really take 20 on Disarming a Trap, only Opening a Lock.

Taking 20: When you have plenty of time, you are faced with no threats or distractions, and the skill being attempted carries no penalties for failure, you can take 20.
In other words, if you a d20 roll enough times, eventually you will get a 20. Instead of rolling 1d20 for the skill check, just calculate your result as if you had rolled a 20. Taking 20 means you are trying until you get it right, and it assumes that you fail many times before succeeding. Taking 20 takes 20 times as long as making a single check would take (usually 2 minutes for a skill that takes 1 round or less to perform).
Since taking 20 assumes that your character will fail many times before succeeding, your character would automatically incur any penalties for failure before he or she could complete the task (hence why it is generally not allowed with skills that carry such penalties). Common “take 20” skills include Disable Device (when used to open locks), Escape Artist, and Perception (when attempting to find traps).
Bold emphasis mine
Also, you can't take 20 on a Save (Fortitude, Reflex or Will). A Save is a "spur of the moment" reaction to an effect, not something that you can consciously "do".

sorry for breaking the take 20 rule. my saturday DM has allowed me to take 20 on disabling traps countless times before. it's an old habit that i thought was rules legal, the reflex save was merely to represent the effort in keeping that kimono of her's in the best possible condition, negating unwanted snags, tears, unfastenings, unravelings, and other forms of clothing damage. the save is not against the traps themselves. it is more of a flavor thing.

Technically it's not rules illegal as it doesn't specifically state that it can't be done, it just heavily hint towards the fact that it shouldn't be done.
Calix can make the ruling though since it's his game. :)

i tend to think of it as taking your sweet time more than trying over and over. i know it'll take a long time.
You can take 20 on disable device if you're willing to take the time, and there aren't any consequences for failing. Since you can trigger a trap by rolling low enough, you usually can't.
Shuriken begins to slowly move around the room, examining every detail.
Things you notice:
There are signs of old termite damage on the wooden floor against the wall, to the right of the door.
One of the desks has one leg shorter than the rest, causing it to wobble slightly.
Darstave's boots are very well polished.
Alongside the Wayfinder at his belt, he has two pouches, one which seems to contain money, the other you can't tell.
Merisyl's clothing is fraying slightly at the edges, a loose thread at the hem of her robe, scuff marks on the scroll case at her waist, etc.
Ferrilinth keeps fidgeting with the buttons on his shirt, as though he were bored.
The door has a keyhole, but from the dust gathered around it you can tell it hasn't been used in quite some time.
The Filigree on the cube seems to be made up of at least three distinct patterns, each containing both gold and silver strands.
The door is only just wide enough to fit the cube through it.
The floor in the corridor outside the room is stone, and the wood floor inside seems fractionally higher than that.
The pitcher on the table from your lunch looks at a glance as though it was re-filled, but on closer inspection, it is a fresh pitcher.
You find no actual traps, but the cube does seem to have a mechanical aspect.
Shuriken's search, as Sabine said, will take a while.
Samant:
While ther have been countless puzzle boxes throughout history, your historian's eye can easily pick out three different designs on the cube's surface. One is of an Ancient Azlanti theme, another seems to replicate Thassilonian iconography, while the third resembles a popular design of Ancient Osirion. It is unlikely all three empires contributed to the cube's creation, so it would seem to be of a more contemporary origin.
"Oh, a puzzle box!" Lathario exclaims. "My aunt collects those, perhaps if you try that one," he offers "helpfully".
When three people begin to manipulate the cube simultaneously, it becomes obvious that something is happening within the cube, along with the clicks, there is also the occasional clunk, followed soon after by the sharp sound of the mechanism resetting as one of you triggers another click.
This is going to take three people all making Disable Device checks at the same time.
I knew it was a girl's thing! Shuri, Sabine, let's each work on one of those sets of hinges and get this thing open!
Turning to Dartsave as she takes her time to get it done (take 20 on disable device)
shoes? are there shoes inside? First claim if there are!
Unfortunately, taking 20 won't work very well with this (at least after the first check), unless you want to spend days experimenting, since mistakes seem to cancel out at least some of the progress you have made up to that point. (you can still take 10 though.)
I'm leaving for the weekend now, so I won't be able to post again until Sunday night, but I'll leave you some details in spoilers so you can make some progress without me:
Samant:
By pointing out the designs you have noticed, you can give a +2 insight bonus to the people making disable device checks.
When you each make a DC15 check:
After a few attempts, you are able to work out how most of the hinges interact. Once at least one of you makes a DC20 check you can move on to the next spoiler.
Spoiler:
Manipulating the cube, you hear a quiet clunk as something inside seems to lock into place, you are making progress. You can move onto the next spoiler with another DC20 check, but if at least two of you fail to make DC15 in the same round, the mechanism resets and you need to start over with the first spoiler.
Spoiler:
Another lock falls into place, it would seem that you are almost finished. Two of you need to make a DC20 check in the same round to move on, but if any of you fail to make DC15 the previous lock resets, if two or more fail in the same round, then the mechanism resets to the first spoiler.
Spoiler:
With one last effort, you move the final lock into place. From within the cube a much louder thunk is heard as something falls to the floor beneath it. The cube is heavy, and requires a DC15 strength check to move it, revealing the contents which fell to the floor. (which I will post when I get back.)
Argh! The forum monster is acting up, it took me four attempts to post this!
I'm a little confused now. Which three of us are examining the cube? Can we actually take 20 because, if we can even, Garion, with no ranks in Disable Device, can make a DC 15, it will just take a long time.
NIK winks at Garion who seems to be trying to help:
U were GREAT at figuring out these patterns are something more Garion! It realli helpled! But I think its time for us girls to open this thing! Us girls have small nimble fingers u know! Perfect for that kinda stuff! ready girls? Me I think I got one ... I say that last thing cuz I just rolled 18, its over 15 so is that ok Calix?
GARION: if i get what Calix said, if we take 20 it would take days cuz we need to all 3 get it right at the same time or it doesnt work, did i get it right Calix?
As Shuriken and Sabine approach the cube, Garion gracefully backs away, leaving the three women to examine the cube.
Got it.
Alexian pats Garion on the back when he backs away. "Sometimes, I find it's best to just get out of their way...you don't want to get in the way of women and the possibility of shoes..."
I'm seeing three dostinct patterns to follow. One is of an Ancient Azlanti theme, another seems to replicate Thassilonian iconography, while the third resembles a popular design of Ancient Osirion. Each person try to manipulate each section at the same time. He will point out the individual scripts so that Nik, Shuriken, and whomever else will see what he means.
+2 bonus to disable device checks per my Calix spoiler, so Nik your disable device check was a 20

If you have no Ranks in Disable Device then you can't even attempt a Check.
By telling us about the patterns, you will give the rest of us a +2 Bonus to our Checks. :)
Disable Device Check:1d20 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 5 + 2 = 10grrr... Stoopid Dice Rollers hate me!!! >:|
Sabine picks the Osiriani Pattern shown to them by Garion and trys to maipulate the mechanism in concert with the other two girls.
Not that long actually. Taking 20 takes 20 times as long as it would take to make a single check. In this case, if you could take 20, it would take 2 minutes. But that assumes you miss 19 times and every time you miss the locks will reset. So you really can't do that.
"Shhhuusssshhhhh If you guys keep distracting us we'll NEVER get this done!"
NIK smiles at Samant
"KIDDIN'! ThanX Samant I'm not the most patient girl but I'll keep at it!"
New Disable Device:
1d20 + 7 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 7 + 2 = 15

Seeing the machine reset again after Sabine's attempt. Don't worry, just keep trying.
Nik and Sabine you can try again. We'll keep trying all weekend if we have too.
Shuriken joins in on the solving of the puzzle, taking the Azlanti portion. it was either wear her kimono and take a minor risk of it getting caught, or leave herself vulnerable to abberrations with little more than a nightshirt and stockings. she didn't want to compromise her modesty. so she opted to wear her kimono and take precautions to make sure her sleeve didn't get caught. she really didn't want to ruin any part of the amazingly well made clothes she had sewn.
(which happened after the second set of rolls), click the first spoiler, which says

That happened after the third set of rolls. Then

Nik, you need to roll at least a fifteen to move on the next spoiler, and then we'll see what happens next.
Once the girls had familiarised themselves with the mechanism, it wasn't long before they had heard the clunking of two internal locks dropping into place. Sabine and Shuriken quickly maneuvered the Azlanti and Osiriani patterns into place for the next lock to fall, and it is now all down to the last pattern, manipulated by Nik.
Once the mechanism clicks, Sabine steps back to see what happens.
She c o c k s her head to the sidewhen she hears the thunk and stays out of the way so that Samant and the others can get in to move the cube.
Garion turns to Alexian and says, "I really hope it is shoes, or she's going to be very disappointed."
"Somehow I think it might be something else", says Alexian. "She might be disappointed, but I think for Nicephora, it's more the prospect of the unknown...we'll see..."
If I can help Samant, then I'll try to help him lift. Strength Check: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22
"I think its moving Samant! Looks like Alexian isn't the only one with muscles around here!"
To Garion:
"I wont be mad if its a chest full of jewels!" giggle
NIK steps back as she watches all those hunky guys breaking a sweat
To SABINE:
"We girls do all the precision work and they do all the heavy lifting!" giggle "Gotta admit tho ... they sure look good, muscles bulging and flexing! yummm"
Sabine looks at Nik and shakes her head. "I'm not so sure that whatever is in there will necesarrily be treasure for us to keep, being that this is just a test. That being said, I like your sense of hope," she finishes as she gives the forward young woman a small but friendly smile.
"ThanX Sabine! And I like your fashion sense! By Calistria: VERY 4709! ... Maybe there is a tiny reward for passing the test? a WELCOME 2 the Pathfinder gift like that cute thingy you have at your belt!"
Sabine glances down at the Wayfinder hanging from her belt as she flourishes her skirt, happy at the compliment from someone as obviously beautiful and fashion conscious as Nik.
She looks at the way the men, especially Alexian fawn all over Nik and she is a liitle disheartened that she won't be able to twist them to do what she wants with the gorgeous woman along with them. At least she'll be left alone to do her own thing, something that she values highly as she usually dislike being told what to do.
