The dwarf's face brightens, "Sorik yet lives! That is heartening news indeed!"
Another of the dwarves, Adark, spits. "Tarjin has gone to the eternal forge. The monster that wears his face is not Tajin."
Ah knew it, didn't I say that were no dwarf up top, e ad ta be a gnome or some such. Sneaky little basted stabbed us in tha back e did. Rulf says with feeling, overjoyed that his keen eyesight saw through tarjins disguise.
Well anyway lads, I'm also from Hammerfast originally, Unterhein clan. But i've been down among the big folk fer a year or more. Trying to teach religion to tha heathens ya know, thankless job really but we still do our best, Rulf preaches, starting to get into his subject but then realises they have other goals here. Anyway what brings yer down ere, an what can ya tell us about this ere place.
"Ah, Unterhein, wel met." The dwarves listen politely to their rescuers. When prompted Viknus states, "We were hired over in Winterhaven to repair the tower. These yellow-faced ruffians waylayed us and kept us locked in that room like a bunch of kobolds. Not all of us were so lucky, though." About now some of the dwarves are carrying the bodies of two fallen dwarves towards the rope ladder. One of those bodies is that of Tarjin.
"The murderers only interest seemed to be in finding a skull, or some such thing. A gaggle of 'em went through those doors, led by a bag o' dirt by the name of Falk."
By now the bodies have been raised up and most of the dwarves have bowed in respect to each of you before climbing up himself. Viknus bows deeply and says, "We're going back to Winterhaven, and most likely back home after that. We're masons not warriors, but if you're going after Falk, give hive the whole hammer and the anvil."
Latro steps forward to greet the dwarves. "Well met dwarves. I'm Latro. Sorry about your pals. And we'll make sure to tell Falk you send your best. I don't have a hammer or anvil, but my sword and shurikens should do the trick."
To his adventuring party, "I say we go through the doors and avenge these dwarves. I say we run this Falk character through."
"Your comrades will not go unavenged good Dwarves, and may Bahamut guide them to their rest." making the blessing of the shield to protect the souls on their journey through the shadow fell, Kava towers over the dwarves
"Did your captors say anything else about their plans, skulls seem to figger highly in their nefarious and short lives"
Attempt to jog their memories a little further with diplomacy
"Be careful, Falk is some type of necromancer, and will have undead with him. Also, I think I heard Lurash boasting about a magic holy symbol he was planning to hawk when they got back."
knowledge check from before was to try and figure out what type of creature could take the form of another. Also would like to search the area and body's for anything that might help us
A doppelganger might look like an eladrin wizard, a dwarf fighter, or even a dragonborn paladin. It can’t duplicate a person’s apparel or carried items, so it must dress and equip itself for the part. For this reason, it keeps several changes of clothing in its lair.
And on Lurash's body you find a holy symbol:

"A necromancer?! My kind of villan." Kava gets a determined look cross her face. Turning to the group. "Well we should check the bandits above for clues to help us battle this menace"
Kava goes to the rope up following and helping the dwarves up "Masters Kirmondir, master Stonerain if I may be of assistance" Turning to Latro "So young Manticore ... coming?"
spend 2 surges - can I take advantage of Rulf's HW :) Don't have many (5)left
"Praise be to the Storm Lord father Rulf, my gratitude again"
Kava slithers out of the pit and waves "Ho, Sorik!" to her dwarven guide. Making sure the dwarves are supplied with arms "You must take care on your way back to Winterhaven, that falsefaced villian is out there somewhere." she helps load the dwarves onto the wagons and briefly checks for a scuffle where they left Sorik, chastising herself for doubting that it is him but taking care in case he's a double.
As they leave she waves "Till next we meet Viknus Idor Markel Gundar Adark Dirkan" and then busys herself with searching the bandits from below for clues
Sorik openly weeps as he embraces each survivor. He nods at Kava's advice, but seems more concerned with those he thought lost. The dwarves give another weary, but heartfelt thank you as they pick up crossbows from the fallen bandits.
Kava
Spoiler:
Below you find A'loran looking over a holy symbol.

Calling back down the hole "It does not look like anything of interest left up here"
She salutes to the Dwarves dissapearing into the mist, the muted light dulling her silver armour and scales to look like coopers iron.
Turning about for a moment she looks into the dense wall of gray and wonders Where has that shapechanger gone, and just which possible bleak moment is it going to appear. Oh Lord, I was lucky this time but I almost got Aloran killed in that ambush. Help me to keep them safe.
Making the sign of the shield Kava slides her long muscular frame down the hole. Appearing out of the darkness "Do you lads mind if I take a brief look at these murals? "
Religeon and History checks on the murals; Healing check on the skulls to see how they died CSI-Winterhaven style :D
"Nothing but mundane supplies in the crates and barrels. And I don't hear anything from beyond the door. Are we rested and ready to avenge the dwarves?"
The crest carries no religious significance. The goblin skulls are weathered and cracked, but reveal no insight as to what caused their demises.
Kava
Spoiler:
You fail to recognize the historical significance of the mural, but can only guess that it is a personal crest.

Forgot to say that was a milestone, so everybody gains an action point. The Map A'loran - 20 (32/32 hp; surges used 2/8)
Kava - 18 (32/39 hp; bloodied; surges used 5/11)
Latro - 14 (35/35 hp; surges used 2/7)
Canas - 13 (40/40; surges used 0/10)
Rulf - 5 (36/36 hp; surges used 4/9)
Thank'ee kindly A'loran, this'll come in handy. Rulf starts getting himself organised, has a quick bite of some hard tack then stands prepared to move off. I'm a ready ta go Canas. Latro lad, are ye takin the lead? Rulf announces as he moves to the door ready to open it.
Upon opening the doors you feel a wave of heat and can hear a low roar. Up ahead a statue of a dragon spits an enormous gout of flame across a ten foot wide hallway.
Move into the hallway after Kava makes her entrance, making sure to avoid the flames. Attempt to time the flames coming from the dragons to determine if there is a pattern.
"Lead on Brave Lady. I'm right behind you. Careful of those flaming dragons though! I wouldn't want you to get that shiny armor scorched!"
Latro follows Kava and keeps close to the wall furthest away from the flames.
"If the bandits went through they must be a way of switching those fire jets off, or a secret way around them" Kava contemplates with Latro at T22 unless it gets to hot there
A'loran moves up as well "gee... dwarves really like the feel of the forge in their faces. I could teleport to the other side... but that doesn't mean I'll be able to disable it. But I'll give it a try anyways.
Around the next corner you see four alcoves. Statues of angels occupy the alcoves on the right; statues of dragons fill the alcoves on the left. All four statues breathe continuous gouts of flame. Beyond these jets of fire, you see an open set of double doors.
Rulf and Kava
Spoiler:
You think it might be possible to avoid the flames with a successful Acrobatics check.
Latro
Spoiler:
You think it might be possible to avoid the flames with a successful Acrobatics check. You see a way to disable a statue (you can disable a statue for 1 round with a successful Thievery check). Two human figures are crouched behind the double doors.
Ampersands are fire spitting statues. A capitol "S" indicates a sarcophagus. Yellow squares show flames.
As the party stands there studying the statues (but before A'loran teleports), Latro gives a shout and crossbow bolts come flying from behind the doors.
I'm assuming it's a minor action to draw a shuriken. If so, Latro will move to S21 behind the wall. If drawing is a free action, Latro will Deft Strike to S21, throwing a shuriken at B1. Deft Strike +6 vs. AC (due to range); d6+4 damage. Move 2 sq before attack.
Latro starts to speak, "I think we tumble around the flames or maybe we can disable them with some time." As he starts to continue, his voice rises to shout a warning, "Wait. What is...lookout! More bandits behind the doors!!"
With that, he moves behind the wall in an effort to make his attacks more effective.
Move back two to gain total cover from B1, then hide (Stealth +10) and Deft Strike +8 (+2 for CA, -2 for range) vs. AC; d6+4 +2d8+2 damage. Move 2 sq before attack.
Latro steps back, plasters himself against the wall, and then springs forward, loosing a shuriken at the bandit at the end of the hallway when he reaches the corner.
"These bandits are indeed treacherous and have no sense of fair play! Attacking when we have fire statues to deal with? Not right, I tell you."
To the bandits, "Ho Bandits. We've killed your buddies and your leaders. I'm going to enjoy dancing on your yellow-bellied entrails!"
that'd be right, jes when yer admirin fine craftsmanship someat attacks ya Rulf utters quite disgustedly. he shakes his head then realises that he'd best get low to avoid the incoming fire.
Drop prone to gain +2 defences vs ranged attacks. Guys I have a plan but I need U22 vacant on my next turn for me to move into.
Latro pretends to run away, and catches the bandit unprepared when he throws a shuriken in B1's belly. Latro hit B1 (25 vs. AC) for 20 damage, and B1 is bloodied.
The bandits hold their position and continue to fire, this time against those who have attacked them. B1 dazing strike vs. Latro's AC:1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
