Her warriors speed causing her to react instantly, Anya takes a 5' step (D-12)and grabs onto Stefnir, her muscles bulging with the sudden strain.
Grab:1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23 Strength:1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6 and at the warning her eyes dart up to spot the icicles falling from the ceiling, causing her to lose some of her strength by the distraction.
Reflex save to prevent her from falling in? 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6 Damn it! See now when stuff like that happens, exact same rolls right after each other, which happens a fair bit, makes me think it's a glitch in the system...grrr
At the sound of the ice shattering Jorgen jumps up Grabbing his spear and javelin. Without a word he vaults over the side, dashing through the freezing water towards the cavern at a flat out run.
Ragnar leaps forwards and grabs Stefnir from sliding down the icehole, but the ice next to Stefnir is just as weak and Anya collapses that when she reaches out to help. Her gaze is fixed on the icicles falling but that is not where she is headed.
Saorise, I am going to rule, does not reach for Stefnir or then Anya on the grounds she isn't that strong.
Anya slides down the ten foot wide hole and then slips out of sight round a bend before there is a loud splash as she falls further.
Anya
Spoiler:
Anya slides round and down a chute for about ten feet and then freefall drops about five feet into a ten foot square hole. Anya cannot feel the bottom or even see into the black icy depths.
She takes 2 points of normal damge from the drop and various ice shards then needs to make a Fort Save DC15 versus the ice water she is now treading in or take a further 4 points of non lethal cold damage (which the fur cannot prevent). Finally I need a swim check DC10 to perform any action.
Helga's shout shows that the ice is indeed falling but these little spikes and the surface ice dust clear leaving two dark clouds of crackling blue energy which seem to pull themselves free of the ice and float out a little towards the frantic sounds of the party.
Saorise shouts back to Jorgen and the boat, "help, help, we need HELP now!"
Initiatives are you all then the dark clouds. Jorgen you have already acted reacting to the shout and jumping off to land right near the ice slope up to the plateau.
Once she has shouted her warning, Saorise turns back and moves further inside C12, just in time to see the Dark Clouds seperate themselves from the ice and move in their direction. Cursing loudly, she lets fly at the closest one with a burst of icy cold from her outstretched hand.
Attack the nearst Dark Cloud with Arctic Ray (Ranged Touch Attack):1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 20 Damage (Cold):1d6 ⇒ 6
Ragnar says something unintelligible, though with the force of an oath. He looks between the clouds and Anya's hole and curses again.
"Uh guht ruhpp.", he rumbles,"Uh'll tryn guht huh."
On his turn, Ragnar will drop prone to try and evenly distribute his weight on the ice and lower the end of his rope down toward Anya in the hole.
Kurn is surprised when Jorgen jumps up and moves toward the cave entrance. "Where are you going, you're in no condition for dangerous situations?!". Kurn shakes his head and looks at Ari "what's wrong with these people, just running off into trouble without even knowing what each of them is capable of?"
Kurn then picks up some rope and looks at Taggrik "with your permission, I'd better see if anybody is hurt" and then climbs off the ship and moves towards the cave entrance. At the entrance, Kurn lifts his head and hands in prayer. " Krakis, allow your faithful servant into your house without fear or danger". Kurn then heads cautiously into the cave.
Her fury seeming to keep her warm despite the freezing water Anya calls up in a strong voice "I am unhurt! Yet I am in no mood for a swim, so drop me some rope! And be quick about it!"
Attempting to see what she can in the darkness Anya peers about herself while she treads the ice cold water.
Perception:1d20 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 2 = 16
Just to eliminate any confusion, Anya wouldn't have gone into a battle situation with the bulky fur still draped about her, she shrugged it off before she left the boat. I had been thinking that would be an obvious move for her but I realize my mistake in making such an assumption. Apologies : )
Stefnir staggers back from the grasp of Ragnar with a mumbled "-anks." Then he readies his spear and takes a moment to study the dark clouds.
Knowledge (nature) 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (18) + 9 = 27. He is now at E14 behind the prone Ragnar.
He calls out to the rest, "they look like some kind of storm creature or elemental."
Khal, I going to try not to be too anal about the furs and the cold so no need for an apology. I would have made the same mistake and it makes sense for Anya to leave the furs onboard before entering the cave.
Saorise casts an arctic ray at one cloud and the bolt appears to travel right through glittering off the ice wall. Helga tries her luck with an arrow but the feathers have twisted in the quiver and it barely travels ten feet before veering away into the side wall.
As Ragnar lies down,
Ragnar
Spoiler:
He can see that the hole is about ten foot long and wide. It goes underneath the wooden decking and the icy flagstone next to it. E11 and D11. The rope goes down into the hole but as the ice tunnel twists and dips to the right so the rope finds a natural hollow and starts to spool and coil about ten feet below Ragnar. Anya cannot be seen.
Anya cannot see the rope yet.
Anya
Spoiler:
She is in a small hole with no apparent way out other than up or down. The water around has smoothed the walls making this a bit like an icewell.
It will take Kurn two rounds to reach the cave.
One cloud floats gently down towards Helga and another towards Saorise. Each shoots out a short forked bolt of energy.
Neither bolt travels more than a few feet before it shorts out with a crackle and a buzz.
Helga
Spoiler:
You are see in your peripheral vision that there is indeed the decking of a ship stretching some forty feet along a jagged series of chambers to the right.
Ari after thinking for a few moments, decides to leave the relative safety of the ship and give his brother plus the others a hand. He climbs down taking with him a rope to moor the boat as best he can.
(We wouldn't want it floating off, would we)
He will then procede to follow his brother into the cave, moving at speed to catch him up.
Ragnar (flipping rope down a hole)
Kurn (coming, arrving next round)
Ari (coming, arriving next round)
Jorgen (has arrived)
Helga, Stefnir, Anya and Saorise to act in the cave.
Helga Perception check DC13
Spoiler:
There was some sort of movement out of the corner of your eye. Difficult to spot and not repeated but unless your mind is playing tricks then something moved at the far end of the cave system beyond the ship.
Anya straps her spear to her back and feels around for any handholds, if she finds any she attempts to climb her way up.
Perception:1d20 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 = 14
Acrobatics:1d20 + 8 ⇒ (4) + 8 = 12
I don't think she knows a rope is coming down yet does she?
Eyebrows furrowed at the clouds apparent immunity to her attack, Saorise moves to towards the cracked ice and casts a spell, hoping to strengthen the surrounding ice and prevent further degredation so that Ragnar doesn't end up following Anya down the hole.
She casts create ice to attempt to strengthen the ice under Ragnar.

She casts create ice to attempt to strengthen the ice under Ragnar.
Saorise's actions cause ripples of ice to form under Ragnar, they spread out and down the side of the hole.
"Thank you" Stefnir shakily states. "I would volunteer to go after her". "She is only down there due to trying to help me". "Tie the rope around me, and lower me to her, then we can pull both of us out with us helping to climb". "I can also give her a spell to help fortify her against the cold".
Realizing the danger of loud noises causing things to break loose Stefnir steps towards the hole waiting for the others to react.
For now. Need to make a successful one each round that you are in the water. Otherwise you can't achieve much other than treadng water enough to stop her from drowning.
Helga takes up position aiming down the cave system with her bow.
Helga
Spoiler:
The broken mast has an ice-covered humanoid embedded in ice and wrapped in frayed rope. Helga's feeling is that the movement came from beyond that point. No other figure moves into view. At the moment.
Saorise helps to strengthen the ice around Stefnir and Ragnar. Ragnar flicks the end of the rope but it hits the curve of ice and coils and spools into a heap again.
Then the pair of clouds move closer and again small charges of energy come out, one at Helga and one at Saorise.
Ragnar lets out another garbled litany of curses in Krieg and Dverge, pulling out the rope completely and tying it around Stefnir to send him down. Once he sees the powerful Ari, he motions the half-elf over.
Judgment (Su): Starting at 1st level, an inquisitor can
pronounce judgment upon her foes as a swift action.
Starting when the judgment is made, the inquisitor receives
a bonus or special ability based on the type of judgment
made. The bonuses granted by the judgment continue to
improve on following rounds, reaching a maximum bonus
that lasts until the judgment ends.
"About bloody time! the less than pleased barbarian angrily shouts up in reply "If I'd had the pebbles you so-called men have between your legs they'd have frozen off by now!"
Not sure what Saorise can do at this time, so I'll rule that she goes full defensive to avoid being shocked again. Saorise has a touch AC of 18 now.
Ragnar holds the rope and Stefnir slithers and slides down the hole until his feet dangle above Anya. She tries to climb the side of the icepit but cannot get a decent hold, especially with such wet hands.
Saorise takes a step back from the shocking dark cloud and pulls out her weapon to defend herself, trying to dodge the blasts as they come for her.
Helga drops like a stone onto the ground. The cloud hangs over her.
One of the clouds fires its lightning straight at Saorise just as she ducks. Lightning arc 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20, electrical damage 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4.
The other floats up and over Helga until it is above Ragnar, then it shoots out another charge at the man holding the rope. Lightning arc 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13, electrical damage 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3. No Dex bonus to AC due to the rope.
Unfortunately both adventurers light up like candles as the energy crackles about their bodies.
I'll post a fuller map tonight. And restate everyone's positions including the creature's. Jorgen et al to act now.
I've sent the colour map out now. Positions are as follows; the dark clouds are at C13 and above Ragnar at E13. The adventurers are Helga D10, Anay underground, Saorise D13, Ragnar E13, Stefnir going underground, Jorgen F14, with Kurn and Ari at the entrance.
Ari removes the small round wooden shield, from where it is strapped on his back and pulls his mace from the loop on his belt. He dosen't know what awaits him inside, but his shield and mace will give him some protection.
"Stay close brother" says Kurn to Ari. Kurn moves until he can see the dark cloud, raises his Holy Symbol of Krakis and shouts "Stop in the name of Krakis!"
Ok, I'll try the "this may be a temple guardian" bit first and then go from there! Big gamble I know
Rushing forward Jorgen grab Saorise, a spell being rattled off quickly as his hands touch her. An opalescent glow encases the sorceress Shielding her wounded form.
Those capable of noticing see the wounds on Jorgen closing them selves as the man acts.
Casts Shiled of Faith on Saorise, AC up to 20. Round 2 of Judgement, Jorgen up to 8hp
At a word from Stefnir and Anya, Ragnar starts to haul the druid and berserker from the hole.
