(Male Human (Keleshite) Wizard (conjurer) 2)

Sorry guys, got a little lost here.

Zaid moves out from under the burning debris. When the pugs land, he takes out a tab of butter and throws it into the air, mumbling in Terran.

Casting grease where the pugs are.

No probs, I haven't exactly been Mr Perfect recently.

The ground under the four pugs turns to pig fat, bubbling a little at the edges. But each pug manages to hold its footing.

Rolled 4d20 and got 17, 18, 19 and 17. Not bad huh?

(Male Human Cleric 2)

Nombir moves to attack any Pug that is in reach whilst he keeps out of the greased area!

2D20= 12 and 15, bugger!

Shimei hesitates, judging the risk from the fire, before going to Nombir's aid.

Sorry to be a pain, FW, but before I go I've got to know if it looks like the burning tent-structure or any beams are going to come down soon.

The burning nest tent is ready to drop. However now that Zaid has moved out from under it, no one is in danger. The greased pugs are stood in the centre of the nave, while Nombir, Shimei, Erizi and Zaid are lined up at the main entrance steps. Zsithreminni hasn't moved much but then she doesn't need to to use her crossbow.

For Nombir to attack, he moved up the centre (no danger from the nest) to the edge of the greased floor. Shimei could do the same and that would block the main way out to the gremlins. Nombir's greatsword sliced just over the head of the front pug as it ducks.

Unfortunately there are plenty of other holes in the walls that the pugwampis may choose to escape the nave, if they can get out of the pig fat.

I haven't posted the initiative order for a while, mostly because its now down to your actions then mine. So it's Erizi to act, although he hasn't posted for a while so I can leave him stood at the entrance. Oh and Shimei. Then the pugwampis again.

Zsithreminni moves round to the altar and loads her crossbow ready to fire if one tries to make a break for it.

I'd rather let Erizi block that route. They'll run past Shimei while he flails helplessly at them. The big E will squash them flat.

Shimei nods to the former slave, then jerks his head toward the pugs. He draws another arrow and nocks it.

Ready action to shoot fleeing pugs when they're clear of melee.

1d20 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5

1d20 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 = 13

1d8 ⇒ 3

The two pugwampis facing Nombir attempt to step back but one falls over in the grease his foot sliding out from underneath him. The other manages to step back since the two behind also step away from the cleric of Abadar.

The gremlin warrior is concentrating on his balance and the spurts of lard that are hitting his ankles.

Nombir can have an attack of opportunity, I shall treat the grease as difficult terrain. If Nombir misses then he needs to make a Will saving throw as the pug casts a spell at him.

The two behind turn around and one heads for Zsithreminni. Now that the fat pugwampis is running, his shiny chainmail is visible under the ragged robes. He pulls out a glittering warhammer as he charges the rogue. The other pug high tails it towards the sidewall not far from the altar and a tempting crack in one window.

This triggers Shimei's attack of opportunity too. But he misses.

The fat pug swings a mighty blow and it just clips Zsithreminni (1pt of damage).

To one side the nest rafters begin to crackle as the burning mess settles a little, its weight too much for the old weathered wood.

So just Nombir's AoO to resolve and then it will be round to you guys again. Please have a look at my other game's discussion thread if you get a chance, since it may impact on you guys. Let me know what you reckon too. Ta.

(male Human (Garamundi) Fighter 1 (Unbreakable))

Erizi is here just wasn't going to go into the flaming building. He's afraid that when the tent falls it will set the whole place on fire. He will continue to block the entrance unless he see's a pug he can reach without entering the flaming death hole in which case he will angrily smash it.

After reading the discussion thread on your other game, I'm certainly willing to post more often, and am a little discouraged by the slow posting. I hadn't posted lately, because I was outside the door waiting for something to happen. Maybe between the two game we could find a group to post more frequently. I could usually post daily, and sometimes multiple times a game myself. Erizi Would love to get to at least second level before the end of 2009...;-).

Nombir swings his great sword to smite the heretical scum in the name of Abadar! 2D20=17 and 19!!! with 8 points of damage

(Male Human (Keleshite) Wizard (conjurer) 2)

"Ayart!" Zaid shouts ad shoots a dart of acid out of his finger at the pug making for the crack in the wall.

Ranged touch attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 15, 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7

"How did that miss!?"

(male Human (Garamundi) Fighter 1 (Unbreakable))

Erizi excitedly dances from foot to foot, hoping one of the impossibly frustrating Pug's comes within range of his seeing so he can make a Pug Pie.

Nombir lops the head off of the pug that tried to step back. It falls back onto its back the grease sticking in clumps to its body.

The one lying down slides out of the spell and runs past Shimei towards the exit.

One has reached Erizi but is looking to keep going. One has just been slotted. One has made it to the side crack in the wall and looks to be about to escape. The last one is attacking Zsithreminni. Only Zaid has acted this round. Actions from everyone else please.

Zsithreminii steps back behind the altar and shoots the large pug but her foot treads in the puggy-doo and she slips at the vital moment. Bad luck and the bolt flies upwards and out into the sunlight.

To one side the nest collapses to the floor, blasting cinders and ash across a wide area, but the smoke and fire does do harm. However the old dreid wooden pews do begin to smoulder. The central rafter is intact but both side ones fall down clattering among the burning mess.

Shimei sights on the pug squeezing through the crack in the wall. He draws back the bowstring, releases his breath, and looses.

1d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10

1d20 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 = 17

1d8 ⇒ 6 (+1 to hit and damage if the range is less than 30 feet)

Sorry, FW. Lost track of the rounds. Thought my last post was still good.

Shimei

Spoiler:
Executive decision to try to wrap up this fight. I thought you might spot that one. Now you just have to kill them.

Shimei's arrow clatters against the wall not three feet from the pug.

(Male Human Cleric 2)

Nombir turns and moves to attack the Pug attacking Zsith.

1d20 ⇒ 15

1d20 ⇒ 14

Damage

2d6 ⇒ (5, 4) = 9

(male Human (Garamundi) Fighter 1 (Unbreakable))

If Erizi can reach a pug, he will run and attack.

Earthbreaker Attack (1d20+7=23, 1d20+7=25)

And squashes something to a bloody paste.

Earthbreaker Damage (2d6+7=12)

Nombir Kadesh wrote:

Nombir turns and moves to attack the Pug attacking Zsith.

To get an attack this round, Nombir will have to step right through the greased area. Zsith is the other side at the altar. Please make two Reflex saves.

Erizi does indeed mullah another pug into the ground.

(Male Human Cleric 2)

Reflex saves

1d20 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 12

1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7

Nombir slips over in a flash and barely manages to hang onto his greatsword as his chin hits the greased stone floor.

Next to him the pugwampi stands up again and stabs him in the back of the neck. Attack roll 17+4(prone)+1=22, Damage=1pt. But the dagger is rusted and gets wedged in the armour so the pug steps out into the open, in front of Shimei and further back, Erizi.

Another pug wiggles out of the crack in the wall and the last anyone sees of it is the feet disappearing from view.

The fat pug moves right around the altar and then swings the warhammer at Zsith with all his might. But the nimble girl leaps over the armoured pug.

They are now both behind the altar and the pug is small enough that no one but Zsithreminni can see it at the moment. Nombir is lying about thirty feet or so into the centre of the chamber. Over to you guys.

Shimei watches his shot on the running pug miss. Out of the corner of his eye he sees Nombir hit the floor. He grimaces as the pug climbs onto and stabs the fallen cleric.

Dropping his bow he runs forward and tries to grab the pug.

Drop bow. 30' move. Grapple attempt

1d20 + 12 ⇒ (6) + 12 = 18

1d20 + 12 ⇒ (7) + 12 = 19

If needed, balancing in grease 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 2 = 15

1d20 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11

(Male Human (Keleshite) Wizard (conjurer) 2)

Zaid tries to maneuver so he can get a clean line-of-sight at one of the pugs, avoiding the grease if possible. If he can, he fires another acid dart:

ranged touch attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 14

1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6

Again, his aim flies off at the last second.

"HOW!" Zaid screams in frustration.

Erizi? Nombir?

I've already posted in this round mate

(male Human (Garamundi) Fighter 1 (Unbreakable))

I thought Erizi was outside the room. He will not enter the greased area, but as before if anything runs close he will pound it.

Erizi the Landless wrote:

That's fine, Erizi. Just giving you a chance to do something else.

Nombir Kadesh wrote:

Nope, Nombir slipped over and that was before the pugs acted. Then one of them jumped up and stabbed Nombir in the neck. Now it is back round to you again. To simplify and speed things up we are now going puigs then party. If you haven't posted after the pugs then it's your chance to act. The only problem may be if someone has to make a save etc. That will interrupt things a tad.

(Male Human Cleric 2)

Nombir will try and get up and move out of the grease....

1d20 ⇒ 3

1d20 ⇒ 18

...or not!

Nombir gets up on one leg but it shoots out sideways and he clatters back. He can try again if he wants, its only a move action, or he could crawl five feet out of the grease, go on crawl baby, crawl.

Shimei manages to grab hold of the wiry pug. It fights like a dervish to break free straight away.

I think you can do non lethal damage, then I need another pair of grapple checks at +5 this time. Just in case the pug survives being squeezed.

Zsithreminni steps back again, loads and fires at the fat pug but the sweat is in her eyes and so is the fear. She looks ready to bolt.

The fat pug grins evilly and swings at her kneecap, and that silvery warhammer thuds into flesh, causing the rogue to stagger. She looks around wildly for help and sees that her nearest assistance is Nombir lying on the ground.

"Help me, this pug is a killer!"

Damage 4pts to Zsithreminni. Nombir still has an action from last round but just to move things along a little, this frees everyone else up to act.

(Male Human Cleric 2)

Nombir trys to get up again....

1d20 ⇒ 4

1d20 ⇒ 20

Plus 3 to each score I can add my Dex bonus?

...and he stays where he is! "Does anybody have a book I can read?"

(Male Human (Keleshite) Wizard (conjurer) 2)

Zaid holds out his wayfinder and starts chanting.

Using his bonded object to summon a celestial badger to appear behind the fat pug on Zaid's initiative next round.

Shimei shifts his grip on the pugwampi to get a hand around its throat.

1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19

1d20 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 = 13

1d3 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4

Rolls to continue grappling. Roll for lethal damage. Note the pug (and Shimei) takes -4 to dex because we're grappled that will drop his CMD. Not 100% sure about the damage die. The pug also takes -2 to rolls for any action other than grappling or escaping grapple. Spoilers below for your easy reference.

Grappling:

Spoiler:
Grapple, grab, or a similar ability, attempting to grapple
a foe provokes an attack of opportunity from the target
of your maneuver. Humanoid creatures without two free
hands attempting to grapple a foe take a –4 penalty on the
combat maneuver roll. If successful, both you and the target
gain the grappled condition (see the Appendices). If you
successfully grapple a creature that is not adjacent to you,
move that creature to an adjacent open space (if no space
is available, your grapple fails). Although both creatures
have the grappled condition, you can, as the creature that
initiated the grapple, release the grapple as a free action,
removing the condition from both you and the target. If
you do not release the grapple, you must continue to make
a check each round, as a standard action, to maintain the
hold. If your target does not break the grapple, you get a +5
circumstance bonus on grapple checks made against the
same target in subsequent rounds. Once you are grappling
an opponent, a successful check allows you to continue
grappling the foe, and also allows you to perform one of
the following actions (as part of the standard action spent
to maintain the grapple).
Move: You can move both yourself and your target up to
half your speed. At the end of your movement, you can place
your target in any square adjacent to you. If you attempt to
place your foe in a hazardous location, such as in a wall of
fire or over a pit, the target receives a free attempt to break
your grapple with a +4 bonus.
Damage: You can inflict damage to your target equal to
your unarmed strike, a natural attack, or an attack made
with armor spikes or a light or one-handed weapon. This
damage can be either lethal or nonlethal.

Grappled condition:

Spoiler:
Grappled: A grappled creature is restrained by a creature, trap, or effect. Grappled creatures cannot move and take a –4 penalty to Dexterity. A grappled creature takes a –2 penalty on all attack rolls and combat maneuver checks, except those made to grapple or escape a grapple. In addition, grappled creatures can take no action that requires two hands to perform. A grappled character who attempts to cast a spell must make a concentration check (DC 10 + grappler's CMB + spell level), or lose the spell. Grappled creatures cannot make attacks of opportunity.

A grappled creature cannot use Stealth to hide from the creature grappling it, even if a special ability, such as hide in plain sight, would normally allow it to do so. If a grappled creature becomes invisible, through a spell or other ability, it gains a +2 circumstance bonus on its CMD to avoid being grappled, but receives no other benefit.

Shimei feels a sickening snap and the pug goes limp in his hands, after all it is the size of a baby and cannot fight against his size or strength. "Urrrk!" is the last he hears.

Beneath him Nombir manages to get out of the greased area (I rolled for this round) but finds himself on the same side of the dangerous pig fat as Shimei and Erizi. Beyond the grease and at the end of the aisle is the altar with Zsithreminni and the last pug fighting for their lives.

Zsithreminni decides that descretion is the better part of valour and legs it round the altar and away towards everyone, seeing the grease she dives head long through the patch and slides into Shimei.

Shimei can I have a single Acrobatics (balance) check DC12 or Zsith will get you tumbling down.

The fat pug is then seen to one side of the altar, he has jumped up and is following his sack through a large crack in a window. He is presently flailing and struggling to escape about forty five feet from where Nombir stands (and Shimei may do too).

Over to you guys again.

Shimei feels the bones gives and the little body go slack in his hands. He tosses the body aside and looks up to see Zsithremmini sliding toward him. He pushes his left foot back and pivots away from the woman on his right foot. Forward with the right pivoting on the left leaves him facing the hind end of the fat pug as it struggles to get through the wall.

Balance1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20

1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18 Does "single roll" mean that we're out of the bad luck effect? I rolled twice just in case.

Nombir, I believe the honor is yours.

(Male Human (Keleshite) Wizard (conjurer) 2)

An angry badger appear behind the fat pug, runs over to him, and tries to claw him on his rear.

claw attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8, 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 15

(Male Human Cleric 2)

FW - Am I able to charge the Pug?

Yes, if you successfully pass a single acrobatics (balance) check to get over the greased area. When and if Nombir reaches the pug then he must make two attacks and take the worst result.

(Male Human Cleric 2)

Nombir realises that charging maybe a problem, so draws his crossbow and shoots at the Pug

1d20 ⇒ 19 as I think I'm out of the bad luck radius?

Damage

1d6 ⇒ 4

Nombir, you need to roll again because that is a possible critical. Its at +3 due to your Dex. And the damage is d8 or 2d8 if the critical confirms. Go for it. Shimei you can shoot too if you have that bow to hand.

Dropped the bow to move to and grapple the pug. I'll get him next round if he's still stuck.

Shimei sidesteps clear of Nombir's line of fire. Then he returns to his bow and scoops it up.

(Male Human Cleric 2)

Sorry

1d20 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4

Damage

1d8 ⇒ 8

Nombir's bolt hits the fat pug squarely in the back and it squeals in pain. But doesn't stop struggling in the crack.

Meanwhile Zsithreminni gets up and loads her crossbow, but by the time she is ready to shoot, the pug is out the other side and away. Shimeifinds the same issue.

Fight's over unless someone wishes to give chase in the desert outside. If not then I'll work out xp etc.

Shimei watches the pug disappear through the crack. "We must catch him. He will want revenge and will trouble us in the future." The desert rat hikes up his robes to dash through the Great Hall, onto the sand and to the spot where the pug came through the wall. Along the way his eyes dart back and forth, looking for the diminutive dog-like threat.

FW, I'm not real interested in chasing him down, but Shimei understands bloodfeud. He doesn't want one, even with a miserable little pugwampi. So he's got to go look. It's OK with me if the pug manages to escape by fiat.

(male Human (Garamundi) Fighter 1 (Unbreakable))

At the warning of escape Erizi stares into the ruined room, looking at the fire to make sure it doesn't spread, and destroy the rest of the building.

"Hope we didn't destroy anything useful or important" he muses to himself as he watches Shimei begin his pursuit of the last Pug.

By the time that Shimei, and anyone else high tails it back outside and around to the front of the nave, the fat pug is gone. A couple of pieces of silver glitter in the sand below the crack.

Perception check from Shimei please, oh and anyone else who accompanies him.

Scanning the scrubland and rocks, there are literally dozens of places that the pug may have escaped into. It is gone for now. The tiny terror may never stop running until he reaches Osirion....

xp on Sunday.
