(male Human (Garamundi) Fighter 1 (Unbreakable))

Erizi spits on his hands, and takes a quick glance at the platform above him, grumbling bad words under his breath at the Pug's.

He will try to take out one of the interior columns first, so he can make his escape more easily from the outer ones.

Earthbreaker attack (1d20+7=13, 1d20+7=26)

Earthbreaker Damage (2d6+7=12)

FW, I imagine Shimei's in or near T13. Will he be clear of the falling structure? If not can you point me in a safer direction? Maybe give us an estimated crash area for the structure? I have no doubt that Erizi will bring it down.

Map

End of Round Four

Shimei, Zsithreminni, Zaid and Nombir all shoot at the pugwampis but the nasty little devils dodge behind the wooden cover, although Zaid's acid dart comes very close.

Shimei is nowhere near the choir balcony, in fact Erizi is the only one near enough and he is right underneath smashing the first support to the right of the ladder.

The choir balcony sags noticeably and a rotten seat falls off the end crashing to the ground beside the ladder. Wood splinters fly in all directions.

The central support is another twenty feet along the sidewall about ten foot in, next to the pews.

Round Five

Initiatives
Pugwampis 18
Nombir 17
Shimei 14
Zsithreminni 13
Erizi 8
Zaid 5

As the choir balcony shakes and tilts, the two pugwampis left on it, run for it, leaping and scampering for all they are worth until they reach the central rafter that runs down the spine of the nave. One nearly over balances as he keeps looking back at the destruction of the balcony.

The other two, already there raise their bows and shuffle carefully towards the relative safety of the material tent.

One quickly turns to the other and says out loud, "spaycudder." the other nods and they both shoot at Zaid as one.

1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6

1d3 ⇒ 2

1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18

1d3 ⇒ 3

Zaid takes 3 points of damage as a little arrow pins into his arm.

Over to you.

(male Human (Garamundi) Fighter 1 (Unbreakable))

Erizi runs to the other side support of the balcony, not the center one. He doesn't want the balcony to crash down on his head. If he must expose himself to arrow fire to get out from under the balcony to bring it down he will do so. He will also try to move silently as he does so in the hopes that the enemy won't hear him, and won't know where he is coming out.

Stealth (1d20+1=12)

When he gets to the other side he will attempt to take out the other support.

Earthbreaker Attack (1d20+7=20, 1d20+7=13)

Earthbreaker damage (2d6+7=13)

And quickly dives away from the falling balcony

Acrobatics (1d20+1=2, 1d20+1=19)

Whoops! and Ouch!

Shimei pulls another arrow from his quiver, sights down it's length, draws, and fires.

1d20 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 14

1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6

1d8 ⇒ 8

The arrow flies wide.

Bow-father. Why have you forsaken me? He grits his teeth in frustration and prepares to try again.

Erizi sneaks under the middle support and gets to the far one, then spits on his hands ready to attack the old wooden support.

40ft of sneaking this round, Erizi, we can save those rolls for next round.

Shimei of Merraketh wrote:

1d20+3; 1d20+3; 1d8

This is a home of light and glory, sun and healing but look around, bad luck and pugwampi waste covers so much of all that is good. Maybe you are forsaken?

(Male Human Cleric 2)

Nombir shoots another bolt at the nearest enemy in the least cover 2D20= 11 and 11. Damage if applicable is 1D8=8, which is hopefully 'get some puggy!'

(Male Human (Keleshite) Wizard (conjurer) 2)

Zaid crawls under one of the pews to escape the withering fire of the pugs' arrows.

Down to 3 hp.

End of Round Five

As Zaid hides he can spend a few seconds counting the sheer number of wounds he has taken in the monastery.

Nombir shoots again but the bolt sticks into the rafter below a pugwampi foot, the creature looks about with narrowed eyes now that their main target is gone.

Zsithreminni takes the opportunity to sight on another pug fleeing the balcony and her bolt skewers into the imp lifting it into the air and toppling head over heels into the pew debris below with a loud crash. She tries to keep her head down as she reloads.

NPC Zsithreminni rolled an 18 and 19 to hit, 5pts of damage.

Round Six

The three remaining pugs take one look at their brother falling dead and run like rats along the central rafter and into the material and rags, out of sight. Alot of chattering is being muffled by the silks and such, but there is definitely something about to happen.

Your goes chaps.

(Male Human Cleric 2)

I now have my copy of the Pathfinder Core Rulebook, which means other options are now available to Nombir...

Nombir moves to Zaid and channels positive energy into him 1D6+1=6 points of healing

So FW are there visible targets now?

If so: Shimei draws and fires at a visible pugwampi.
to hit, to hit, damage 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19

1d20 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 = 22

1d8 ⇒ 7

that's got to hit! "Thank you, Father for steadying my hand and clearing my eye!"

If not: Shimei draws and watches the pugwampi's cloth abode carefully. Ready to release the arrow at the first sign of one of the little vermin. Ready action to fire on appearance. can I use the same roll?

did I mention I checked my spell prep and didn't take guidance? good thing I missed anyway last round.

I have a pdf of the rules now. A little disappointed in the domains on first read, but I think it's a change in flavor more than anything. Worst is I don't get the dog til 4th level.

(male Human (Garamundi) Fighter 1 (Unbreakable))

Erizi finally reaches the end support, striking it with his mighty hammer.

I believe you mentioned he could use the previous rolls. I knew it was too early to roll them, just trying to move things along since that was what he was planning on doing

That's fine, I'll sort it out in a few hours scranford.

Round Six

Initiatives
Pugwampis 18 (run inside "silk tent")
Nombir 17 (healing 30ft burst so others may get healed too)
Shimei 14 (ready bow attack)
Zsithreminni 13 (readies crossbow)
Erizi 8
Zaid 5

Nombir heals Zaid and the burst of holy energy waves over Shimei and Zsithremini too. 6pts to all in the area

While Shimei readies an attack, Zsithreminni does the same aiming for where the pugs disappeared into their tent. Then Erizi strikes.

He quickly rolls out of the way as the second support snaps under his hammer, slowly and with gathering momentum the entire choir balcony tilts towards the ladder end, the rafter splinters and breaks and everything tumbles down into a heap in the far corner. The ladder is now a series of sharp wooden rods sticking out the stone wall.

The rafter has snapped near the central beam at a weak point, so the rest of the upper works are largely unaffected.

However the noise does make one pug curious and it pokes a head out to shout, "Setti Unod-." Then he takes an arrow and a bolt in the throat, before slumping out of view, hit by Shimei and Zsithreminni.

(male Human (Garamundi) Fighter 1 (Unbreakable))

Erizi upset that the Pug's foiled his plan at bringing them down to his level runs to their lair, and begins his same plan of bringing this area down to the floor as well.

I'm really having a hard time imagining how this is all lain out, so I'll just keep knocking things down till I find the bad guys. Also what is our xp total at this time?

(Male Human (Keleshite) Wizard (conjurer) 2)

Zaid, feeling much better, sticks his head above the level of the pews to see what made all that racket.

(Male Human Cleric 2)

"Let's flush them out by setting fire to the balcony etc Zaid". Nombir gets of his fire making gear.

Yep, 3D fights like this are tough at a table let alone on a pbp. But Mothman's map is as good as it gets (he is an architect after all!) and I'm trying to make it as simple as I can. Your idea of bringing the supports down was a good one but but the rafters would never have all come down. As for xp, its still 208 until this fight ends. Seems like it should be more, doesn't it. I'm busy with a newly pregnant wife working full time day and evenings all this week which leaves me on 7-7 child duties so bear with me this week.

Cheered by their mutual success, Shimei smiles and waves at Zsithremmini. "Prepare yourself. I will fire into their tent. If any come out they are yours."

Shimei nocks another arrow and glances over to be sure Zsith has reloaded. Then, looking for shadows or movement to key on, he releases.

Could be a blind shot, but when we were outside yesterday you said we could see shadows or shapes moving so maybe he has a hint of a target. If not he'll aim slightly toward the middle of the tent from Zsith's and his dead pug.

Perception (if needed) : 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23

1d20 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10

Shot : 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 = 17

1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19

1d8 ⇒ 7 +1 to hit and damage if inside 30' less any penalty for firing blind

Erizi et al, I'll tidy this Round up tonight and give you some more information then (after I've put my son to bed). That should help with what you can do next.

The 2 remaining balconies (on the map marked to the left and bottom) are both supported by three thick wooden pillars, much like the two that Erizi has already brought down.

Int/Wis Check DC15 or Knowledge (Engineering) DC12

Spoiler:
All the supports can be taken down in similar fashion. Fire may work but it would take a good deal of time and effort placing the wooden all around the bottom and waiting for the pillars to burn down.

Running down the centre are a series of slightly thicker wooden pillars which hold up the central rafter. This is a much stronger looking rafter.

To the east (on the map in the two shaded areas) is the silk tent and ragged rug affair, Zaid is right under it while Nombir, Zsithreminni and Shimei are more to the west in between the pews and wall. There are the faint outlines of several shapes inside the material, or it could be one or two moving quickly from one silk wall to another.

Int/Wis Check DC15 or Knowledge (engineering) DC12

Spoiler:
The silk tent or pugwampi nest is attached to the ruined nave walls and rests on the edge rafters. Destroying all the balconies and their rafters may trigger the whole lot to come down.

Int/Wis Check DC18 or Knowledge (engineering) DC15

Spoiler:
The material is mainly made up of heavy enough material that the nest will come down if the rafters around it are destroyed. The bottom balcony has three supports and its weight and lost rafters should be enough on its own for the pugwampis nest to collapse.

Perception DC12

Spoiler:
All the rafters have suffered damage due to time and erosion. There are likely to be weaker spots much like the one that snapped when the choir balcony came crashing down.

Taken from the pathfinder rulebook, Nombir only does 5 pts of healing, no +1. "Channeling energy causes a burst that affects all creatures of one type (either undead or living) in a 30-foot radius centered on the cleric. The amount of damage dealt or healed is equal to 1d6 points of damage plus 1d6 points of damage for every two cleric levels beyond 1st (2d6 at 3rd, 3d6 at 5th, and so on)."

End of Round Six
Pugwampis 18 (run inside "silk tent")
Nombir 17 (healing 30ft burst, 5pts each)
Shimei 14 (hits pug)
Zsithreminni 13 (hits the same pug)
Erizi 8 (runs near to Zaid and another support)
Zaid 5 (looks up)

At the beginning of the following round, there is the chatter of many raised voices inside the pugwampi nest. One voice is much louder than the rest and they all quickly stop arguing.

Over to some of you guys again, I will allow Nombir and Shimei to change their actions based on my spoilered info (if they wish).

First Int 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 1 = 13
Second Int 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 1 = 16
Perception 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5

Map

So looking at the choir loft and rafters page, is this correct: Erizi brought down the choirloft at the top of the page. The tent hangs in the rafters from D10 to L14?

Based on what Shimei sees, I will keep the arrow shot posted above.

"Nombir, rather than burn everything, perhaps fire arrows into their nest?"

Thats spot on. However I meant to say that you should only make one Int/Wis check and one Perception check then open whichever spoilers you pass. I makes no difference with your rolls Shimei. Nombir may be out of action for a while, he has a very close friend suddenly in hospital

(Male Human (Keleshite) Wizard (conjurer) 2)

Intelligence check: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19
Perception check: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20

Zaid moves out from under the rafters that are holding up the nest, toward Eziri.

FW:

Spoiler:
Can Zaid reach Eziri and communicate how to bring down the nest before it is Eziri's turn to act?

(Male Human Cleric 2)

"Burning them out is more fun Shimei!" Nombir sets fire to a piece of wood and holds it ready for the next round...

FW: ** spoiler omitted **

Zaid

Spoiler:
Yes. Zaid and Erizi are right beside each other and in a pbp talk is cheap. Round my table I'm more strict but it seems a bit silly in this case.

(male Human (Garamundi) Fighter 1 (Unbreakable))

Erizi is sick and tire of these useless pets, and decides he is through messing around with them.

"I am tired of fighting these pests. They can't hurt us anyway". Erizi decides to make for the door, and explore the rest of the complex, unless someone stops him and gives him a reason to continue.

Nombir Kadesh wrote:

"I meant fire arrows. We try to set their nest on fire, not the whole structure."

"Erizi, wait! If we must clear out these vermin if this is to be our future base."

(Male Human (Keleshite) Wizard (conjurer) 2)

Zaid points out the supports for the bottom balcony to Eziri.

"If you take those out I think the entire thing will come down, their hideout with it. I personally hate the foul creatures and would like to see them finished."

(male Human (Garamundi) Fighter 1 (Unbreakable))

Used to being told what to do and secretly not looking forward to being alone, Erizi decides to follow the instructions, and without a word walks to the column to knock it down.

Earthbreaker Attack (1d20+7=17, 1d20+7=20)

Earthbreaker Damage (2d6+7=17)

Nombir Kadesh wrote:

The wooden seat panel is soon burning fiercely, the wood takes to the fire well, probably thanks to the sulphurous excreta.

End of Round Seven
Pugwampis 18
Nombir 17
Shimei 14
Zsithreminni 13
Erizi 8
Zaid 5

Shimei's arrow flies up and sticks into a shadowy shape through the gauze-like silk. The arrow slumps making the material dark. Zsithreminni does something similar but her bolt hammers into a thicker rug nearby doing little damage.

Below at Zaid's call, Erizi changes direction and smashes the nearest support to the exit, the wooden floor above creaks loud and in protest at the damage caused. The whole wooden balcony tilts towards the exit. now there are two supports remaining, the middle one is twenty feet from Zaid and Erizi and the other is forty feet away and close to where the rest of the party are.

Round Eight
There is a screech from above and rapid movement happens inside the nest. Everyone sees a pair of pugs flit back out along the rafters to the centre, they are quickly followed by a another carrying a small sack of goodies. Both at the front shoot at Erizi. Both miss.

More sounds of frenetic action happen inside the nest.

Over to you again. Note what I said in the discussion thread. Ta.

(Male Human Cleric 2)

Nombir moves toward the balcony and throws the piece of burning wood into the nest 2D20= 12 and 14 and drops behind a pew.

Nombir's torch spins up into the a white silk sheet which bursts into flames in an instant. The burning f*~%$$ drops like a stone at Zsithreminni's feet.

Inside the nest, the actions gets even more frenetic now, if that were possible, high pitched yaps and screams all over the place. It will only take a minute for the whole affair to be a fiery pyre. Those pugs are in serious trouble now.

Seeing the tent start to blaze, Shimei nods in satisfaction. He draws and nocks another arrow waiting for the pugs to emerge. They come out shooting. He aims for the lead pug targetting Erizi and looses.

1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6

1d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10

1d8 ⇒ 6 +1 to hit and damage if the range is less than 30'

Edit: even with +1 that ain't gonna hit

(Male Human Cleric 2)

This just to let you all know that I won't be able to post again unitl Sunday night guys

You've done enough damage already. Pyromaniac cleric.

bump - Erizi?

(male Human (Garamundi) Fighter 1 (Unbreakable))

Sorry guys. Didn't realize you were waiting on me

Erizi seeing that a fire is about to break out, decides to leave the room, and club anything short that emerges from the exit, or wait till the upper reaches fall, and enter the room to clean up anything still breathing.

(Male Human Cleric 2)

French Wolf wrote:

Well it worked and it's always good to burn heretics!

Shimei looks at the fire. And how it hangs overhead between him and the door. He begins circling toward the door along the wall, keeping well clear of the tent's potential crash zone.

Erizi moves back to the entrance as the nest begins to burn. Shimei follows. While Zsithreminni takes a pot shot at the pair of pugs but misses badly. She too moves away from near the danger.

Zaid still stands under the silks and rugs as the entire mess begins to turn into a furnace. Inside several screams of pugwampis are followed by the dark shadowy forms flailing at the material, trying to cut through the silk before they are killed.

Two manage to escape but the rest are not so lucky. The pair follow their partners until the whole gang stands on the central rafter.

"Erguh Hoppar!" shouts a pug.

One by one they pull out small pieces of silk and grab the corners preparing to jump down.

Round Nine

Zaid didn't post so he is still stood under the nest, which will probably collapse soon if he doesn't watch out. Zsith I'll NPC for now but we can look at recruiting one or two to take care of that when the party returns to camp.

(Male Human Cleric 2)

Nombir draws his great sword and moves to a position to slaughter the Pugwampy vermin when they come down from the burning balcony!!!

Since I had already gone for round 8, the move toward the door is part of Shimei's action for round 9. Continuing here.

Wheeling around the room Shimei draws and nocks another arrow. He sights on one of the lead pugwampis and looses.

1d20 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 = 12

1d20 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7

1d8 ⇒ 7

not even worth mentioning the +1 to hit and damage inside 30'

Zsithreminni shoots as well but also suffers as her crossbow bolt tangles in her hair, causing a misfire.

I shall delay Zaid for a day. Calling Rimrock! Erizi I have left as waiting at the entrance hammer at the ready.

Meanwhile the five pugs leap off and float down using the silk as parachutes. However the sound of tearing shows the rip across one spitting open and its gremlin nosedives into a pile of wood with a sickening thud.

The others all land, although the fat one barely manages to hold onto his sack.

All four of the pugs are in the centre of the nave. Two have drawn daggers at the front, while the fat one and his bodyguard crouch behind.

Zaid and then a new round.
