"I'll take first watch with you, since when I try and take the second, everyone else decides to chat all night ..." Garroth says sarcastically.

Haedric shrugs as he stands up for the watch. "Don't ask me, I thought half the people talking were still asleep."
Staying on first watch.1d20 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 1 = 10
KC:
Remember when we were in Monty Haul's pbp about monsters fleeing from adventurers through Undermountain that ended when he had to deal with stuff in real life? Well, he's back. Go over to this thread and say you're back so we can get the game back off the ground, will ya?
The days roll by like the ones before, the land is dry, and just scrub here and there, as the day goes on lethe, thinks he may be headed off corse and corrects the path. Garroth thinks he sees something here and there, but he is unsure for the most part. Now and then animals are seen, a small wolf like critter, or a small thunderlizard or fleet desert animals, much like a deer
Still he day wears on the relentless sun beating down upon you, as the you travel grass comes a bit more common amid the scrub bush and it's late in the day near sunset when Lethe knows he has been off course, He's not sure for how long , but he knows your a bit lost at lest 10 miles off and headed mostly east, night is near and water is getting a bit low

Spoiler:
You think something is traling you, you have seen the wolf like critters more then once today, but they could be common in the area.
"We may have some visitors, tonight. Those wolf-things we've been seeing; I'm sure it's been the same ones. I think they're tailing us. Maybe we could find a campsite 'over a hill' and wait for them to come to us. A few dead carcasses may discourage other predators."

Synatria glares. "And what makes you think the's only a 'few' of them? For all we know, there could be twenty, and I'm not too keen on fighting a whole pack."

"You could be right. Either way, they're following us, and we have to stop sooner or later. I'd rather find out what they are, and deal with them on our terms, then give them a chance to ambush us."
Garroth will back-track a bit, taking first watch, but will try and find somewhere to hide away from camp. He will try and keep an eye out for the whatever those things were.
Take 10 on Perception = 20
Stealth (if I can take 10 on that, I will also = 24; otherwise 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (2) + 14 = 16)

Synatria looks around, sighing with exasperation. "Of course he leaves.
She turns to Jax. "I have spells that can help us, and prevent the need for any fighting. If I can calm the creatures, then they should leave us alone. I need you guys not to attack them until I've tried the spell. If it fails, then I give you permission to fight, but if it succeeds, there will be no killing. Will that be alright with you bunch of warriors?"
Jax smiles at Synatria while sharpening his dagger."Garroth bears a heavy heart, don't judge him too harshly." He returns the dagger to his boot and Turns towards the kobold. " And the spell is fine with me Synatria, I certainly hold no grudge against the animals, nor the men and women we're fighting. I wish you knew enough spells to prevent the need for any fighting and calm all the creatures of war so that they would leave us alone."

"That is a priest's job. A druid does what she can for peace, and to preserve what she holds dear. A priest seeks to go beyond there, and sometimes beyond their capabilities. A wizard doesn't care either way."
Jax frowns"Synatria for a member of a race who is so often stereotyped, I would think you would be a bit more cautious about throwing around such ill-conceived notions."

She smiles. "Ah, I'm sorry. That's something my father always said. He had a bone to pick with mages, he did."
She nods. "He was. He was a gatekeeper, of course, so that goes without saying."
"Ah I see, so I presume he certainly approved of your decision to be a druid?" He asks
She is silent for a moment before speaking, and when she does, her voice is quiet. "He was the reason I became a druid. My mother wanted me to be a mage, like her." She sighs. "I have no regrets about joining the Gatekeepers. But I miss...I didn't have much notice."
"If your father disliked mages so much, why did he have a child with one?"
"He didn't...dislike them, exactly. But he knew that within the Gatekeepers dwelled something far more important, and far more powerful, than mystic runes and sygils. He and my mother fought over my future for a long time."
" I suppose you can't choose who you fall in love with Haedric." He says with a smile." Excuse the hopeless romantic talk." He laughs gently
"No, no you can't.", Haedric says wistfully.
"He really didn't have any particular dislike of mages, he just wanted more for me than endless hours staring miserably at old books." Synatria says, sounding defensive.

A nostalgic smile begins to spread over Haedric's face. "Oh, but it's so much more than that, really. It's mostly research, but the magic itself is worth it. The ability to, through your will alone, force the world to acknowledge you, to do what you want it to do. Show me one wizard who says they continue working magic for any other reason, and I will show you a liar."

"I use a very different sort of magic, wizard. When you use yours, you feel power. When I use mine, I feel complete. Completely in touch with the world, not as master, but as a piece, as one link of the vast chain." For the first time in the discussion, she smiles. "You cannot imagine the feeling. Power? It is useful. Connectedness? It is what we were born for. The only thing worth living for."
Lethe watches the three way conversation with a very bored expression on her face. It is fairly clear all this talk about magic and power is going right over her head
Did Lethe come across any water during her search?

"Oh, but there's so much more worth living for than simple oneness. Duty. Love. Revenge..." Haedric trails off and once again begins to scowl.

She sighs. "There you go again. That scowl. You keep that on your face it'll stick there."
Garroth isn't far enough away that he couldn't hear the talk; of course, in the night, the others' talking does carry a bit. He'll keep his post, preferably hidden, and hope to be able to at least give a heads up to the rest if anything comes by. He supposes trying a magical way out of fighting would be preferable, so he'll hold his fire to give Synatria the chance to try it her way, first. That was a hard one to figure out, he thought, and I'm not quite sure what it is she has against me.
First off I want to say I love you guys. You breathed new life into this just when it looked like it was gonna die again. Thank you for that
Garroth
Spoiler:
Crawling on your belly, you make your way far from the camp. Past the glow of the fire. There you lay in the scrubs. The moons beam down and after a few hours you see them, coming fanned out. A pack at lest six maybe eight. Low to the ground they look like coyotes or brown wolf/jackles. The seem to be circling the camp waiting for something. Your not sure how easy it will be to get back without being seen
As the night goes on, no one spleeps sound Garroth has been gone hours, you know he's out there beyond the glow of the fire but your not sure where. Lethe and Synatria stand watch as the others catch what little sleep they can
