The party of ten trooped through the jungle on the mysterious island, when Hoku and Hasnett spot the four awesome reptiles stalking them. Hasnett warns the cartographer and porters back, even as these reptiles, the size of draft horses, covered in pebbly, slate gray
scales, and armed with formidable jaws, grasping talons, and two massive sickle-shaped claws on their feet, advance with economical precision.
The reptiles charge, biting at Irawaru and Henrig. Irawaru's agility is proof against their snaps, but Henrig is bitten and grabbed up in the creature's jaws.
Hoku, thinking quickly, draws her dagger and hurls it at Henrig's attacker in a trick strike, forcing it to drop back and, incidentally, drop Henrig.
The shock of the strange creatures thudding out of the undergrowth
wrecks Hasnett's aim. Irawaru lets out a bestial howl and runs up to the reptile threatening Elohir, hacking at it with his axe.
Elohir looks nervously about to his companions, and slinks backwards away from the creatures and behind everyone else. Strange starlight forms around Elohir, blurring the edges of his being. Those nearby hear Elohir mutter several guttural, nearly unpronounceable words, "Throd llll Caiphon! Fm'latgh!" A strange, pulsing bolt of black, purplish energy emanates from Elohir's outstretched fingertips. Elohir's blast goes sailing off into the trees, burning a path through the leaves which sizzle and give off an acrid smoke.
One of the creatures snaps at the barbarian, but, seemingly enraged by its wound, misses completely. Henrig's attacker approaches Henrig again, a little more warily, and grabs the stormsoul up again. A third monster rushes in, fighting the second for its prey, and also snaps at Henrig, the rending causing even more damage. The loser roars in anger. The fourth beast chomps at Aden, but the shadar-kai dodges easily.
Hoku continues to focus on the beast which originally grabbed Henrig, slashing at it in attempt to drive it back further. Hoku's dagger bites deep into the monster, even as she somehow forces the huge beast back a step.
For some reason my post on the google board never showed... pfft
Aden extends his hand and places an arcane mark on one lizard (x1).
Taking his blade in hand he strikes at another (x4)
Minor action Aegis of Shielding on x1. Move to U13. Booming Blade on x4 1d20+11=16, doubt that hit but just in case; Damage 1d8+6=10, if the x4 is adjacent to you at the start of its turn and moves away, it takes 1d6+1=5 necrotic and thunder damage.
"Doubt I'm going to be doing anything note worthy in this battle" He sighs.
Hasnett steps back, holy symbol held high, trying hard not to breathe. "Marked as mine," she notes in passing, before invoking Melora's aid both to take down this strange foe and restore Henrig.
Marked X1 as Hunter's Quarry.
Attack with symbol
Moved to R10. Sacred Flame on X1 (Ref) (1d20 7=19, 1d6 3=7, 1d6=2) It that hits, Henrig gets 5 temp hp or can make a saving throw. I'm guessing the temp hp might be more welcome.
The reptile is a shade too quick to be caught by Hasnett's blast.
Ryne runs off into the jungle in the opposite direction, while the dwarves, shouting in their own language, back up against a stand of trees and ready cudgels defensively.
Elohir glances at Hasnett as she comes near and immediately averts his gaze and pulls up the hood of his cloak. In that instant, you see his eyes have gone completely black and a single spot of purple light dances about in the void.
"We should help your friend."
He shirks away, closer to where Henrig is being held by the beast and his form blurs once again. Elohir points at x1 and shouts, "N'ghft, nog!" then levels his rod at the monster grappling Henrig. The rod pulses with a malevolent energy for an instant. Two more pin points of light now dance within the darkness of Elohir's eyes.
With a few arcane gestures a pair of writhing, shadowy tentacles form around Elohir's arms and snake out towards x3, wrapping the creature in shadow for a moment before pushing it away from the bloodied Henrig.
Move Action: Move 3 squares to Q12, gaining concealment from Shadow Walk.
Minor Action: Curse x1
Free Action: Use quickcurse rod to curse x3 as well.
Standard Action: Diabolic Grasp vs. x3; 1d20+9=24 vs. FORT for 2d8+6+1d6=22 damage and x3 is slid 2 squares to I12, breaking its hold on Henrig.
Hasnett notes the strange look in Elohir's eye and draws her own conclusions. Mentally resolving to talk to him some more if they survive the incoming monsters, she looks around for ways to help her friends.
Irawaru advances on x4, but is little more than a distraction.
Elohir, on the contrary, unleashes his potent arcane power to repel the monster grabbing Henrig, forcing him to drop the hapless fighter and drawing a shriek of pain and surprise from the beast.
x1 snaps at Aden, missing.
x2 attacks its tiny nemesis, with no better luck.
x3, in frustration, advances on its lost prey Henrig, grapping him up once more. The still-conscious former pirate screams in pain.
x4 steps back and bites at Aden, with no better luck than its companion.
I said Acrobatics, not Athletics, but your roll was high enough to pull it off. Which one? Also, and this may change your action, it would get an OA on you -- I just realized you weren't adjacent.
You're missing something -- the GM said it was an Acrobatics skill (this isn't just jumping) :-). But it's moot, as I'm letting you keep the 17, so it's good enough. But you still haven't told me which target.
Aden, to the disbelief of all, including the reptile, vaults onto the back of x4, avoiding the deadly jaws as he does so, and plunges his blade into it.
Also, I missed the Booming Blade, so x4 had taken damage on its turn.
All:

Please don't edit posts if I've already posted after you. Put the edits in a new post, or I'm likely to miss them.
Henrig manages to wrestle free of x3's jaws and lands on his feet. He seems to take a breather for a moment, then quickly brings up his shield in a dazzling defense.
Escape, Second Wind, and a minor defensive power, and he is no longer bloodied -- just
Hasnett's up -- will sort out the whole chart next time
As Henrig is temporarily unbloodied, she'll hold onto her Healing Words for the moment. If Aden hits the deck, his need could well be a lot more urgent.
Ryne realizes he has no chance of survival by running from this group, so takes a more sensible sort of cover. The dwarves maintain their defensive positions.
Irawaru (+3 to hit x4)
Elohir
x1 (injured, cursed)
x2 (trick struck, injured)
x3 (injured, cursed)
x4 (Hasnett's Quarry, booming-bladed, mounted, injured, cursed, branded for Irawaru)
Hoku
Aden
Henrig (NPC) (injured)
Hasnett
Ryne (NPC)
Kozurn, Boral, and Truk (NPCs)
Elohir smiles and titters a bit at Aden's display of bravura but then sobers up when he sees that x1 now has a clear line to him and the porters. He turns to them, his black eyes wide and unsettling.
"You should all probably take cover in the trees," says Elohir calmly. "I'm not strong enough to defend you against it. I will try and draw it away though."
He summons a thousand pin-pricks of starlight around x1 that swirl and sting the monster, settling on its skin.
x1, instinctively a pack hunter, moves to attack Hasnett despite the sting of radiant light from Elohir's invocation. Perhaps due to the dazzling light, it misses.
x2 shifts and bites at Hoku, even as x3 shifts its attention to her, the latter biting and grabbing her up -13hp to Hoku and grabbed.
x4 bucks and thrashes, throwing Aden to the ground, where he lands badly Treated as escaping a grab, then falling damage -9hp to Aden. It then bites at its tormentor, but the swordmage is too agile.

Henrig, though bleeding from wounds that would have killed most men thrice over, advances on x3 -- preventing it from double-teaming Hoku or attacking the porters. With a colorful curse, he jabs at it with his trident. He misses, but he now has the beast's full attention (marked).
Morningstar swinging, Hasnett invokes her goddess again, passing power to Irawaru as she does so. She hits and shifts back a square to give herself room to maneuver.
Shift to W13.
Hasnett's morningstar again leaves a target for Irawaru, while staggering the beast. The dwarves move around to defend Ryne (and themselves) somewhat better.
Elohir has heard Hasnett's words and helps to focus the battle on x4. He spreads his free hand out, fingertips spread, and a bolt of purplish, black energy shoots once more from his fingertips. This time, however, his aim is much more true. Elohir then moves into the center of the clearing to get a better position. His form blurs with starlight once more.
Just redirect the attack to x1. You can keep my movement the same though. It's a bit of a waste of my pact boon with that healthy roll I had, but so it goes. I'm saving my last encounter for the one Hoku is fighting. I now hit reflex 30. :)
Elohir's eyes glow purple for a moment and he reals, putting a hand to his head for a moment as if in pain. His dark bolt seems preternaturally guided as Elohir makes his attack as if looking through the beast rather than at it. When the purple fades, only two points of light remain floating within Elohir's dark eyes.
Elohir chuckles. "Perhaps they are not lying to me after all."
"Switching up, hey?!" Hoku calls out, before dodging around to the rear of the beast attacking Henrig. She then moves about and flashes her dagger in an attempt to confuse the creature, while attacking.
