(Male Changeling Fighter 4 / Ranger 1 / Warshaper 4 / Swordsage 12)

going back to the stuff... I would pick up the cure potions and the other amulet. Thinking that the small and portable over the big items. (Unless someone else can carry those.) We definately grabbed what Mask left us with.

"Now that we are here, what is out first order of business?"

(Male Human Cleric 16/ Ordained Champion of Heironeous 5)

"Let's see if we can make our way into the High Quarter. Once there, we should see what we can do in order to destroy this damnable gem."

(Male 1/2 Orc(Outsider) Monk 20)

"Agreed the faster we can get that cursed thing destroyed then the faster we can get out there and bash some heads"

(M Human Paladin 20)

Witnessing the holocaust down below the paladin exclaims, "In Al Akbar's name!" THe paladin's face seethes with anger and for a moment he ponders leaping down into the battlefield but Jahangir checks himself. "We must find the Circle and discover the fate of the gems."

The group lands in The Street of Temples, in the quarter of The Halls. AS the group finds their bearings people run screaming for safety. Some headed to the gates of High Quarter. Others seek refuge in the Temple of Boccob or in the nearby Free City Arena.

Perception checks, DC 30 (With the chaos all about, Perception checks have -10 penalty)

Spoiler:

You can swear you saw something, somethings, running about the rooftops.

One thousand feet to your northwest you see the gates of High Quarter begin to close. At the same time, through the fire and smoke that engulf the Artisan's Quarter you can see the Old City gate begin to fail. The screams of the hurt and wounded can be heard all around.

(Male Changeling Fighter 4 / Ranger 1 / Warshaper 4 / Swordsage 12)

Perception (1d20+29=30)
obviously distracted by the chaos

(Male Human Cleric 16/ Ordained Champion of Heironeous 5)

Perception 11+12-10=13. Not so much.

(Male Half-Orc Fighter 8)

Perception: 1d20+15=26

(M Human Paladin 20)

Perception:18=6+12

Does High Quarter look like its holding out or on the verge of falling? Are there any critters directly threatening the gates as people are trying to reach them? Basically looking to help out the citizenry get to safety.

High Quarter seem the better off the than the other two quarters. But that probably won't last. From what you could tell the Old City has been lost, and the horde is now breaching its gate. Every so ofter a boulder will fly over the wall and crash into the houses and buildings below.

While some of the town guard tend to the injured or help with the fire engulfing the artisan quarter. Most of the others seem busy keeping the rabble from entering High Quarter. Mostly by closing the gate.

Perception (Inclusive of Penalty) 1d20+20=36

"Look there! Something's moving across the rooftops!"

As the group looks about at the havoc...

The doors to the Temple of Boccob swing open. A young woman, not even eighteen, comes running covered in blood. "Please...someone help! The people..."

From the eastern wall the group makes out the faint silloutte of what appears to be a boulder. One after another they fall from the sky. AS they come closer it becomes appearent that these 'boulders' are not make of stone. As they impact they splatter and sizzle upon the ground.

"My friends", Giorge speaks up a wild look in his eye, "there is a time for valor and a time for cowardice. In this case the latter would be the better."

Giorge motions for the group to move toward the church.

Three boulders have landed within 40 feet of you.

(Male Human Cleric 16/ Ordained Champion of Heironeous 5)

What's happening inside the temple?

Fargos looks at the boulders, the blood-splattered woman and then back at the boulders again. "Step into the church. I can heal our lingering damage in there right away; after that, we can dealwith whatever it is that's falling out of the sky."

(Male Changeling Fighter 4 / Ranger 1 / Warshaper 4 / Swordsage 12)

Tarlan heads to the church.

The girl looks up to the adventures, "Please my friends, family...something is lurking...deep inside...my sister"

She stutters and rambles, her eyes empty.

"I would rather deal with what's in this place, then what's coming..." Giorge eyes the black sludge behind them.

For the next few encounters I'll be winging it. I also don't have any maps that work for any of the upcoming areas.

(M Human Paladin 20)

Jahangir takes to the air ( celestial armour ) to get a better look at where/who these boulders are coming from.

Raizen follows the paladin.

Wings on!

So Fragos, Tarlan and Giorge (assumming Kelan and Kutho aswell) are heading into the church. Raizen and Jahangir are taking a birds-eye view of the quarters. Interesting...

The Temple of Boccob, an imposing citadel of stone towers and rooftop gardens anchors The Hall’s Street of Temples.

The fragmented group looks through the doorway, past an empty lobby, into a darkened hall of worship. Save for a dim blue glow toward the back nothing can be seen. The stench of fresh blood though is overpowering.

Darkvision Users

Spoiler:
Your vision cuts past the darkness revealing the horror ahead. Bodies lie everywhere, their mouths stretched like a snake unhinging it’s jaw. You couls swear you saw something ‘fleshy’ moving further into the darkness, past the range of your vision.

“It came outta Papa...then Miss Waler...then another, and another”

(Male Changeling Fighter 4 / Ranger 1 / Warshaper 4 / Swordsage 12)

Tarlan moves between the people and the 'fleshy thing(s)'.

Tarlan steps amongst the gore. The beautiful stone work now clawed and bloodied. Toward the end of the room you see three statues of Boccob surrounding a blue glowing pool.

But the thing that stands out most is the undulating mass of flesh toward the rear of the room.

Ten feet away Tarlan notices movement. It apeears that someone has survied this slaughter.

(Male Changeling Fighter 4 / Ranger 1 / Warshaper 4 / Swordsage 12)

Tarlan moves to check out the 'survivor' but keeps the glowing pool in view at all times.

(Male Half-Orc Fighter 8)

Kelgan moves towards the fleshy thing, changing his grip on the axe to hit the thing with the broad side of the blade.

Moving forward, and using Weapon of Ruin to do bludgeoning damage, for purly metagame reasons.

Raizen, Jahangir I'll be getting back to ya'll soon. Dont' want you to feel like I forgot ya.

Tarlan slowly creeps forward. On the floor is young cleric of this temple, Rhiann. See seems to be okay, minus a few deep cuts and bruise across her forehead. She looks up at you, her eyes glazed over.

(Male Half-Orc Fighter 8)

Uh, I wasn't planning on hitting the thing yet. If I was, I would of rolled an attack roll.

Ah, my mistake I thought you were but didn't roll

(Male Changeling Fighter 4 / Ranger 1 / Warshaper 4 / Swordsage 12)

Tarlan will pick her up and carry her a 'safe' distance away but remain in the building. (Also making sure squid monsters don't come out of her...)

(Male Human Cleric 16/ Ordained Champion of Heironeous 5)

Does anyone in the church have vile damage? As this is consecrated ground, I can heal it in here.

Tarlan

Spoiler:

Make a sense motive check

(Male Changeling Fighter 4 / Ranger 1 / Warshaper 4 / Swordsage 12)

Sense motive (1d20 31=45)

Fargos, I have a point or two of vile damage.

Vile Damage for Group 1:
Tarlan: 2
Kutho: 14
Kelgan: 2

(Male 1/2 Orc(Outsider) Monk 20)

Perception 1d20+28=33

Kutho scans the area his senses alert to anything coming at the party

Kutho tunes in his senses. Other than the sounds of his comrades, he hears a sickening, wet sound. Like the sound of boots marching through a heavily muddied area.

Outside the Temple of the 'Uncarring One', Jahangir and Raizen take flight. High above the walls of Greyhawk they scour the area looking for where the artillery fire is coming from.

Jahangir, Raizen Perception checks please

Perception 1d20+30=41

Just to remind, Raizen has darkvision, blindsense and see invisible

(M Human Paladin 20)

Jahangir scans the scene of chaos. Perception 18=6+12

All gone now. I'll scratch a Mass cure light wounds. As it can affect up to 19 people, it'll heal any wounded citizens inside the church as well.

"What's going on in there?"

Maybe it's the smoke blowing from the Old City or just the all encompassing darkness of night, but Jahngir is unable to get a clear view of where the assult is coming from.

Raizen

Spoiler:
Iluminated by burning torches the high-flyer sees a crude trebuchet, 200 feet from the wall. Shadowy figures work quickly to keep the thing together.

In front of the trebuchet is a crueler sight. What appear to be giants, are throwing boulders and the foul acid orbs. They scream as they take hold of the balck things and launch them over the wall.

Raizen, Jahangir please make one more perception check please.

With the blessings of his god, Fragos cures his fellows of the taint in their blood.

The cleric, Rhiann, begins to to stir. "What happened to everyone. The mane where are have they gone!?"

She sits up and looks at her rescuers "Is anyone else alive?"

(M Human Paladin 20)

Jahangir squints his eyes to penetrate the obscuring smoke.

Perception 26=14+12

(Male 1/2 Orc(Outsider) Monk 20)

Kutho draws his kama and moves towards where he thinks the sound is coming from...he remains alert to the danger.

Raizen and Jahangir

Spoiler:
At the last minute the high-flyers notice that the acidic 'boulders' from earlier are gone. All that remains are potted, and burned craters.

As they keep surveying the area they see two great black balls of impenetrable darkness hanging in the air. From the blackness spills a knot of writhing tentacles.

The area around the foul monsters seems to bend and tilt, throwing off Jahangir and Raizens senses.

Please roll initiative Raizen and Jahangir. This fight is going to be challenging but I have faith you both will make it. Some information before we start. Please put your actions behind spoilers. The other group may have their own problems to worry about soon. Also the Black Cyst you are fighting have a warping aura of 60ft. Anyone causght inside needs to make s DC 33 Will save or take a -5 insight penalty on all attack rolls, saving throws, skill checks, and ability checks for 1 round. In this case you will need to make three saves.

As Raizen Jahangir and Raizen perpare for the fight ahead they fail to notice the threat that approached unnoticed from the 'rear'

Hard to have a 'rear' when your dealing with up, down, left and right. The third Cyst has a surprise round.

A tentacle reaches out from the darkness and with a touch a wave of cold, dark energy enters Raizen.

Entropic Touch 1d20+40=52; Make a will save DC 31, you get a +5 luck bounus since this is a death effect; On a fail take 175 damage, or 75 on a success..

Kutho moves with caution into the temple. He soon finds himself near the blue glowing pool and Kelgan. In frint of the strong man lays a pulsating, undulating mass of flesh.

(M Human Paladin 20)

Spoiler:

Init 19

Also note: Aura of Good, Aura of Courage (immune fear, allies +4 morale bonus), Aura of Resolve (immune charm.compulsion, allies +4 morale bonus), Aura of Faith (weapons and allies good-aligned weapons)

And with Holy Avenger myself and adjacent allies have SR 25.

Not sure if any of those effects are fear or charm/compulsion but thought I'd note it.

Jahangir

Spoiler:

Thanks for the reminders Jahangir

Spoiler:
Lazaro wrote:
Raizen and Jahangir** spoiler omitted **

Will Save to Halve Damage 1d20+27=46

Will Save to Avoid Effect of Aura 1d20+24=35

Init 1d20+10=22

Raizen grits his teeth as the cold, negative energy courses through his body.

"Jahangir! They want the gem! We have to pull out!"

(Male 1/2 Orc(Outsider) Monk 20)

"What in the...by the infinite planes of the abyss..what is that thing some sort of chaos beast?"

Kutho activates the kamas flame ability

"If it is then Pholtus cleansing light will deal with it"

Raizen and Jahangir

Spoiler:

Init
Raizen
Cyst (A)
Jahangir
Cyst (B)
Cyst (C)

Raizen you're up, but I still need two more saves for the other two cysts auras. Jahangir still needs to roll his (3) aswell.

The cysts are large sized. Cyst A, is right next to Raizen. Cyst B and C are 20 feet away and rising.

Jahangir checking the description of celestial armor, your're flying ability only lasts for 5 mins. Nothing to worry about, but between the time to get here and the start of this battle I'm saying you're down a min. So only 40 rounds until the effect ends.
