I've had many discussions with fellow guildies about WoW Add-ons and here is list of several add-ons that do are almost essential to my game. And, furthermore, I have not noticed these ones bogging down system performance too much.
Auctioneer Suite
This is the add-on for making gold without cheating. When you go to the auction house and go to sell an item, Auctioneer will automatically input the price at 5% under the lowest price already up. So your stuff sells. It also keeps a running database of the prices for items, so it'll let you know when someone else has put an item up for below what it's worth (that is, the average price). The other tools bundled in this suite include Enchantrix, which keeps track of what a particular item disenchants into, and BottomFeeder, which will also scan the auction house for items that are up for too little and give you the option to buy them out (so you can put them back up for a higher price). Speculatin' ahoy!
Gatherer
Mainly for miners and herbalists, this add-on will mark your map whenever you harvest something so you can go back for it again later. Can't remember where to find Arthas' Tears? Need to score a stack of Mithril as quickly as possible? Just check your map. It also will mark chests.
Outfitter
As you get to higher levels, you start to collect different gear for different situations. Perhaps you have a high-stamina outfit for soloing and a high intellect (or high strength) outfit for running in groups. Outfitter allows you to switch some or all of your equipped gear with a mouse click. There are also automatic outfits that will equip the situational items automatically. It equips your Carrot on a Stick whenever you mount up. With my Shadowpriest, this is indispensable for switching between high shadow damage mode and healer mode.
Atlas
This add-on provides you with maps to instances. Sooooooooo helpful.
I run several other add-ons, as well. But these ones I have found to be the most useful.
With yesterday's update, pretty much every add-on is listed as "out of date", including these, but I just clicked the "load out of date add-ons" button in the add-on menu and I had no troubles.
Thanks,
cos aka "Besel"

Thanks for these, Cosmo! The other one I use is AlphaMap, which overlays a semi-transparent map over the screen. Great for people like me, who get lost easily. (Sadly, it appears the mod author is no longer supporting it...*sigh*)

I've used that one before, and it is handy-dandy. I just prefer to keep my screen as uncluttered as possible, so it wasn't a good fit.
On a side note, if you ever use Thottbot (or many other WoW helpsites), you'll want to pick up an add-on that provides map coordinates. There are many of these and the one I'm currently running, while memory-efficient, isn't as functional as I wish it were so I don't have a link to a good one. The one I'm currently running only provides the coordinates of your character's position and I seen ones that will give you the coordinates of the cursor on the map, which is much more useful for finding things.

RE: Add-Ons
My current favorites are:
TitanPanel (which is actually a suite of little add-ons that sit along a bar at the top and/or bottom of your screen). It features a bag space counter (shows when your bags are getting full in the form of 18/32 slots, etc.), an ammo counter (awesome for hunters), a durability meter (tells you the durability of your most damaged equipment so you know if you need to start heading back to town or not), a money counter (handy so you don't have to open your bag to see how much cash you have), a coordinate tracker, a Gatherer-esque map marker (which also allows you to make custom notes such as the location of NPCs, etc.), and a regen meter (tracks health and mana regeneration, really not useful unless you're a caster).
DamageMeters. This mod actually connects with the TitanPanel bar to produce a little chart that shows the amount of damage everyone in your party is doing. Also tracks healing, damage taken, and lots of other stuff. Kinda handy for showing off how awesome you are. Really not functional for much else.
Scrolling Combat Text. This mod RULES. It creates a scrolling stream of text showing how much damage/healing you are taking (much like the way damage totals pop out of your enemies when you hit them). It also can display when you gain buffs/debuffs, sound an alarm when your health or mana is running low, and other nifty things.
CT_Mod. This mod is a rather complicated add-on suite that modifies several things. I don't recommend it for inexperienced players as it will probably make things more difficult for you rather than easier. It reorganizes your buffs and debuffs into bars that slowly shrink as the time runs out on them, adds some functionality to the mail system (like the ability to send mass mailings), tracks your repair and flight expenditures, provides a timer function, and allows you to rearrange your action bars and buttons (even adding NEW bars/buttons if you wish). Very handy for experienced players. Makes a lot of changes to your UI and tends to be a memory hog, though. Make sure you set your page file high.

I've actually never run into this yet. Of course, my main is a rogue, so my soloing style and group style are pretty much the same and I guess it doesn't really matter. Hybrid classes (like shamans and paladins) typically have a healing/caster set and a melee/damage set though, from what I've seen. And yes, Shadow priests often have a set for shadow and a set for healing.
I need more +Fire damage gear for my mage. Casting three spells to kill a mob of my level is just too much for me. I want these suckers dead before they can even turn to FACE me! :D
I am, however, pleased with the fact that I was able to cause noticable damage in SFK even though I was being run through by a 41 warlock! And I'm only level 25 now! YAY MASSIVE FLAME DEATH!

Hehe... I play a Shaman and a Shadowpriest, so there ya go. But I know that Outfitter is also useful for Druids, esp. Feral druids. Once again, though, hybrid class. :)

Or just basic "+spell damage". At higher levels, it's fun to start collecting for spell penetration and spell critical chance.
Mmmm... Spell crit... AGHAHahgahaaaagh...

Whenever we get tailors who can make any of the following sets, I would love to get a few pieces when they skill-up with them:
Cindercloth (low-30s)
Dreamweave (low-40s)
Inferno (mid-40s... I think)
They're not actually 'sets' per se, but they all have the same name (Cindercloth Robe, Cindercloth Pants, Cindercloth Shoulders, etc.). They give +Fire and +spell dmg. Some pieces of the Phoenix set would be really nice for now, too, though I'll be outgrowing them very soon.

Certainly! Just take a look at the list of character names and add them to your friends' list. Just whisper one of us when you see us on and we should be able to get you in. I believe Lilith gave all of us the ability to invite new members.

I can probably manage that. My mage is currently level 29 and will likely be level 30 before Wednesday night. Then, I will have BLAST WAVE!!! Ragefire Chasm will be a walk in the park. The other two instances should be okay if we can get a group together. Deatholme will be simple enough. I can come run you through that on my own if you'd like, Lilith. I inflict vast amounts of pain for a character of my level. A handful of level 20 Elites don't scare me.

Made level 30 tonight. Did a ridiculous number of Arathi Basin battlegrounds and, as the Horde always does, we won every single one of them. The Alliance sucks so bad at PvP. It's not even funny.
Actually, it's hilarious.
Blast Wave ftw!!!

I should still be able to make it on by that time. 6 pm PST is 7 pm MST (my time zone) so that'll give me enough time to get home from work and eat something before engaging in furious flame-death.

Damn, why don't I read outside of general D&D discussion more often?! I would have TOTALLY loved to be a founding member of this.
As it is, I think I'll scrap one of my characters and recreate him for this new guild. I'm away from home right now, but sometime next week, expect a line from Thraekos, a Forsaken mage. He's got the most developed RP story of all my characters.
Looking forward to gaming with all of you!

I haven't bothered playing over here in a while. It's just too frustrating. I will probably check out some of the BC when I get back, in about 3 months.

yep; have noticed most of you are around a month of not loggin on; was wondering if you went to another server or just not playing; summer can be a busy time of doing other things too and everyone needs a break from playing once in a while. There just seemed to be so much excitement when the idea for a guild first came out that am bit surprized it is so lonesome playing.
Yep; been watching Age of Conan posts too; looks to be a great game in some repects.

Lol Cosmo has 70 envy :)
be nice if we could do some dungeons; there are lots of things to do to keep things from being to repetative; play in differnt zones; do quests you skipped before; craft or gather; aid newbies leveling; start an arguement in XR hehe they are always up for it; one thing to do is dont stay in any zone to long and dont play everyday or for too many hours so you get burned out. just a suggestion.

So far I have taken mining, gonna go engineering (since we dont have that yet).

Sadly, a lot of people aren't around at all any more. I'm Zavera, I'm 69 now, will be 70 by Wednesday (heck, probably Tuesday). Noone has ever been on since like two months ago, so I went and joined a friend who was in another guild (who followed me like I followed some other paizonians to this server). I'll help paizonians a bit if I can, just add "Zavera" to buddylist.

well, if you check the guild roster my cleric priestess is like the 3rd highest person and I am on and off all the time during the end of the week and sporatically during the first part of the week; I would like to believe in our guild, but there is almost never anyone on and it is really hard to get gear and do dungeon quests in a guild this inactive; I constantly get requests from peeps I play with to ditch this guild and join theirs; am generally bummed about guilds in the first place and only joined this server to play with Paizonians as I have characters on about 6 other servers of all levels, races, classes. If you scroll back, I seem to be always asking if peeps still have interest and when they are going to play and if we can get together to do any dungeons; was great playing together when we did, but hasnt happened in a long time. Right now I am gearing up to get my mount and collecting the vast number of gold needed; if the guild isnt doing something by the time i get my mount in a more active way, i guess I will do something else; level 40+ isnt as much fun without some friends to play with.

Understand that you are the Squishy Killer. Having that racial allows you to drain mana and silence. When attacking squishies, use Mind Numbing poison, and save all your stuns and interrupts during their casting. You will pwn any squishy.
