World of Warcraft - Paizonian guild?
Lilith (Pathfinder Chronicles Charter Superscriber; Pathfinder Roleplaying Game, Planet Stories Subscriber),

Chess-final 2 avatar

Okay, I must say, now that I'm out of the starting areas, I'm enjoying this game much more than I initially thought. But, as some of you know way better than I, there are times you need your buddies to help you out. What I'm curious to hear is if there's anybody interested in getting a casual guild together on one of the lower population servers. (No PvP, PvE kthx...)

Any takers? We'll figure out the whole Horde or Alliance thing later...

Celestial Healer,

Go L 11 Protectar avatar

Hmm. I don't even play WoW, but I would probably start if there was a Paizo guild. My biggest beef with MMOs is the immaturity of the community. If I knew there was a guild of mature (that's a relative word, isn't it?), interesting people to play with instead of some 13 year old spouting leet-speak gibberish, I'd find the prospect a lot more appealing.

That's the idea. :D I've got a stack of buddy license keys if you're interested.

I'd be up for it but I really, really suck at video/computer games (unless its a first person shooter or beat em up). :)

Thanis Kartaleon,

Nar Shindah avatar

I'd be up for it. All my characters are currently on Silverhand. I've avoided joining guilds until now.

I can kinda play sometimes over here. I have to stay away from PVP realms, alas my lvl 60 Dwarf Pally languishes in Lighteninghoof largely unused.

Altho between lag and my laptop being over a year old, I blue screen quite a bit when I do play. Because of that, I rarely play anymore, since I don't want to kill my computer. It is the center of my universe when I am off duty.

R-type,

Angel-a avatar

I've found that people in guilds are all about 'the next big raid' and if you can't make it/commit to a specific time your ditched or expect people to become a tailor/weapon maker etc for the good of the guild. I would hope the paizonian guild would be at least a little flowery and roleplay orientated? :)

Lilith (Pathfinder Chronicles Charter Superscriber; Pathfinder Roleplaying Game, Planet Stories Subscriber),

Chess-final 2 avatar

I'd be more keen on starting with the same level characters, as that's more conducive to play if you're all similar in level. I'll do some research tonight and see what Realm fits the bill. :)

EDIT: I'm all about the casual play. I don't want anyone to be forced into a role they don't want to play in the game - play what you want.

Lilith (Pathfinder Chronicles Charter Superscriber; Pathfinder Roleplaying Game, Planet Stories Subscriber),

Chess-final 2 avatar

Looks like it's going to be Velen.

Now, Horde or Alliance? I have a preference for Horde myself. :)

Thanis Kartaleon,

Nar Shindah avatar

Horde works... I do like the Forsaken storyline...

shamgar,

Beholder avatar

I have never played a MMO but am intrigued by the idea of a Paizonian guild. I have a computer that should have no problem with the game but I don't actually own the game or know a ton about playing. I have several friends who do, but the closest I have been is Oblivion for the 360.
What would I need at minimum to get started? Unfortunately I am very tight on cash for another month or so.
Thanks.

Lilith (Pathfinder Chronicles Charter Superscriber; Pathfinder Roleplaying Game, Planet Stories Subscriber),

Chess-final 2 avatar

Shamgar, the WoW system requirements are here. I totally understand the "short on cash" deal, but you do get a free 10-day trial, and a free 30 days if/when you purchase the game.

shamgar,

Beholder avatar

Thanks Lilith. I was correct: I do meet the reccomended specs and then some. Now for the cash issue...
I'll get to work on that. Hope all goes well.

Qadira Mulban (Pathfinder Adventure Path Charter Subscriber; Pathfinder Chronicles, Pathfinder Companion Subscriber),

8 Ser Holton avatar

Yeah, it turns out I'm a little short on the video card. I'll play whenever I can. But as soon as I BSOD, I'm done for the day.

I'm fine with Horde, I'll prolly play a Troll Warrior. I've been wanting to try one. Where is everyone going to be? I've only done one Forsaken character, and only played him to 10th lvl.

At least with Horde we can get everyone together pretty easily.

Lilith (Pathfinder Chronicles Charter Superscriber; Pathfinder Roleplaying Game, Planet Stories Subscriber),

Chess-final 2 avatar

I'll prolly play a Blood Elf Paladin myself. :) Forsaken/Undead characters are fun - cannibalize is a handy racial skill (I have a 17th level undead warrior on another server).

Edit: Okay, Fallengrace, blood elf paladin, has been created. For crafting skills, I'll probably go with mining/blacksmithing.

SO, to recap:

Server: Velen.
Side: Horde.

Celestial Healer,

Go L 11 Protectar avatar

Okay. I'm giving it a try. I'm getting sick of the people on EQII, so this might be fun.

Valegrim,

39 Efreeti avatar

sheesh; I wish you guys would play on a server i am on; i could really help you out; I have played every class; every race and done almost every prof. Is Valens a rpg server? just curious. have been playing LOTR a lot lately; am really enjoying playing a Worg in the monster play sectionm, but still have my wow account active and lots and lots of toons.

Valegrim,

39 Efreeti avatar

hmm; maybe peeps should set up a playing time if you want to play together; I can get a character to level 15 or 20 in a few hours; the first dungeon you can do with a nice group is ragefire; but to get all the quests you have to do the burning crusades quests starting in the troll/orc area from level 2; takes about an hour to get caught up to get the ragefire quest; maybe two hours alone if your under level 10.

If there is really gonna be a Paizonian Guild; hm;; some consideration should be given to play times and covering the bases of most profs as there are several times in the game where you need other crafter to help you finish a quest and almost all servers have way crazy prices in the AH.

hehe am curious how the guild would be set up.

Qadira Mulban (Pathfinder Adventure Path Charter Subscriber; Pathfinder Chronicles, Pathfinder Companion Subscriber),

Ungathwa the Troll Warrior is at the Blood Elf starting area now. Those racists Belfs won't let me do any of the starting quests. Whats up with that?

You probably don't have enough favor with them...I think. I'm still a WoW noob in a lot of ways.

Thanis Kartaleon,

Nar Shindah avatar

Okay, me and Toymaker are on Velen..

I am Kutok the Orc Shaman, Toymaker is Vanchu the Orc Hunter.

Qadira Mulban (Pathfinder Adventure Path Charter Subscriber; Pathfinder Chronicles, Pathfinder Companion Subscriber),

After 4th lvl I started getting quests as normal. I got Arcane Silver, which starts a quest. It flat out told me I was the wrong race to do the quest.

But now I seem to be doing OK. I'm building SMC rep pretty quickly. I do need to go to the UC for class training sometime tho.

Valegrim, of course you have no rouge. Make-up doesn't adventure much! Or maybe nobody wants to play a red! Come on, R-O-G-U-E, rogue, not rouge!

Depends on the guild. I don't think roleplaying is really the issue - I don't think WoW is really much use for that - but whether the guild members treat eachother with respect. The raiding guilds are about, well, raiding instances. But a less "intense" guild could be a good way of doing the lower key instances and just hanging online with a good group of people.

Abendigo,

Bard-Gimble avatar

Haven't played in a while, but I'm surprised you guys decided to go for a non-PvP realm. Getting "ganked" is certainly no fun, but traveling through opposing or contested territory, knowing that you've got to look out for actual players from the opposing faction, adds excitement like nothing else. And organizing a band of friends to raid the territory of the opposing faction is a blast - good for a change of pace after running dungeon after dungeon.

I've got a Night Elf Hunter (53, I think) on one of the PvP realms, but would be happy to join you guys on a new server with a new character. Please, though, consider a PvP realm - they're not so bad! I swear!

Cheliax Fatespinner,

Drawing 023 Expansionist avatar

I, too, am a bit of a PvP loyalist, but I have numerous characters on a non-PvP RP server (Scarlet Crusade) as well because that is where my wife plays.

I might join you folks over on Velen now that I have some names to add to my friends' list over there. I will try to make a character named Fatespinner if it's not already taken, heh. Thinking about doing a Blood Elf mage or warlock.

Emphasis mine.

I'd like to hang out with y'all and have a great time playing WoW with people from the Paizo boards.

Naturally, we will have to raise up some money in order to establish the guild (since getting a guild charter confirmed costs about 10g last time I checked). Plus, the minimum guild size is 10 (because you need 10 signatures to complete the charter).

More recruits needed! Bring friends!

I'm pretty good at working the WoW economy so money shouldn't be too much of an issue once I get started. On my "moneymaker" character, a level 42 Blood Elf rogue, I can easily raise 30g a day, more if I really punish myself (or have a lot of spare time).

I checked the guild pricing (on another server, mind you), and it was 10 silver for a charter (9 signatures needed) and 10 gold to design a tabard, 90 copper to purchase the tabards. I'm (assuming) that the tabards are optional, and you just need the charter signed and returned. I'll be working on getting some cash tonight, y'all are more than welcome to join me.

Once you get the charter signed by everyone, I believe there is a 1g 'establishment' fee or some such. I could be wrong. It's been forever since I've done anything related to guild maintainence.

Mark me down as a Blood Elf mage, herbalist/alchemist. When I get home, I'll find out if the 'Fatespinner' name is taken. If not, that'll be it.

I'll have to see what names are available, but I sincerely doubt I'll name my character "Cosmo" or any variation thereof, what with that being my honest-to-goodness IRL name.

It'll probably end up being some amusing (to me, at least) pun. Yes, I'm one of those guys...

That's good... But I kinda like "Cosmo's Minions", as well. I'd be ok with using my real name in that case.

But seriously, how 'bout:

I'd be inclined toward just "Paizonians" for simplicity's sake. Lords of the Boards would be an amusing inside joke, so I'd be happy with that as well. After all, I got a fair amount of amusement out of a guy running by who belonged to the guild "Guild name doesn't fi".
