TV shows that you miss
Celestial Healer,

Go L 11 Protectar avatar

I will start.

I miss the classy murder mystery shows from the 80s and early 90s:

Matlock
Murder, She Wrote
Diagnosis: Murder
The Father Dowling Mysteries

(I'm sure I'm forgetting some.)

They just don't make them like that anymore. What shows do you wish were still around?

I remember this show, but I could never remember the name of it. I loved it as a kid. I doubt if it has aged well though.

Anyone remember a show called "Cliffhangers"? There were three stories in each episode and each one always ended on a cliffhanger (surprise surprise). Loved that show too.

American Gothic (See Invasion above)

Tales from the Crypt (Great stories, good casting. I still watch these on DVDs, but would love some new episodes...)

Oh, my, yes. Blake's 7 is still my Gold Standard for ridiculous cliffhangers.

Wacky Races was fun, but, really, do you ever need to see another episode? It's not like you're going to see any novel plot twists.

Which season of Space:1999? The first, sepuchrally cerebral season, or the second, with Mara as the magic alien?

A lot of the stuff I liked was already covered (Firefly, Angel, Dark Angel, Babylon 5, etc. I was kinda 'over' Buffy after the last few seasons. It was a relief that it ended, really.).

Since cartoons have been mentioned, I miss the Legion of Super-Heroes cartoon.

Other shows, that nobody in their right mind should miss (but I do!);
Kindred the Embraced
Wolf Lake
Andromeda
Earth: Final Conflict
TekWar

And my favorite of the Star Treks, Deep Space Nine.

Ahhh... there was a cartoon version of WitWiCS, but I was refering to the older, gameshowish version. The cartoon was pretty great too though.

Pretty sure Jennifer Hale did the voice for the older sister if memory serves...

Oh wow, I guess I have something in common with some people on this board.

Millenium: Why couldn't they just finish it off properly!?! Argggh. And the last season was so awesome as well, with the plague and that episode where the devils were corrupting humanity... it was a classic!

Carnivale: I'm starting to like HBO and this series could have gone on for at least another season. One of the best... if you like weird things which I do.

Deadwood: Again, great series if you like gritty things that aren't sugar coated. Unfortunately the set burnt down. Had huge potential for future seasons.

Although these series are not dead yet, I really hope Supernatural keeps going... it's so good.

I agree wholeheartedly! I drifted away from the X-Files after a few seasons, but I really liked Millenium. It was a shame it didn't have a chance to end right.

Supernatural is my fave show on right now. It's the Hardy Boys meet X-Files. Love it.

As for Millennium, the season you are describing was actually Season 2. Season 3 was a huge departure for the show. The critics and religious fundamentalists really had a problem with how dark the show was (probably the darkest show to ever air on network TV), and all the demonic elements. So in Season 3, Frank's wife was gone, they moved him to a new city and gave him a partner. The show became more 'realistic' and crime oriented, and Frank's semi-supernatural profiling abilities were played down. Season 2 is my favorite season, whereas Season 3 was a disappointment (and probably why the show ultimately tanked).

Chris Carter has been talking about giving Millennium the cinematic treatment and taking it to the big screen like he did with The X-Files. He is also talking about doing a third X-Files movie with a triumphant return to the alien/supernatural elements that made that show what it was. Keeping fingers crossed on both prospects.

Animaniacs -- "Wheel of morality, turn turn turn, tell us the lesson that we should learn." Gotta love that --

Alias -- at least the first couple of seasons

The 4400 -- I'm still mad about them cancelling that

Will and Grace (before it became Karen and Jack instead)

I Love Lucy -- watch any Disney Channel sitcom sometime (with two tween daughters I have no choice) and you'll find that every one of them seems to be riffing off of this show. They need to be exposed to the original, darn it!

Matthew Morris (RPG Superstar 2009 Top 32, 2010 Top 8),

Lots of good ones mentioned.

I'll second Soap. That was hillarious.

Other lost beauties mentioned, Brimstone, Remminton Steele, Magnum

Let me add. Primeval, Scrapheap Challenge (I try to ignore the American version) Coupling, Sarah Jane Chronicles (yes it's still in production, but I don't get to see it, whah!).

Also I'll go out on a limb and not only add DS9, but Enterprise. It took 3 seasons for them to get it right, and the finale sucked, but it was wonderful to see them start to tie in TOS to Enterprise. (Season 4 promised the cloud miners and M'ress's people. And maybe even Tzinti. If you've seen the cat people on Dr Who, Mress wasn't outside the realm of possibility).

I'll include Andromeda, before it became the Dillon Hunt show.

If you haven't seen it, check out the new animated show "The Spectacular Spider-man" on Disney XD. The writing is solid, the animation decent, and they treat the characters with respect. I think it's the best Spider-man animated series to date.

Firefly
The better parts of X-Files (before enemies became indestructible and Mulder went away)
Babylon 5 (the original, or any successor that would have been nearly as good. Crusade wasn't that good, and I wasn't really sad when they never picked up Legend of the Rangers)
Spin/Chaos City with Michael J Fox (I forget which name was the original)

I have seen it and I agree. IMO it's better than "Spider-man and his Amazing Friends".
