What is the schedule for the contest?

The schedule can be found on the main RPG Superstar page.

If you're competing, remember that all of the submission deadlines are Fridays and each round's winners are announced on Tuesdays.

If you're following the competition, remember that voting always starts on Tuesdays and each round's winners are announced on Tuesdays.

All events are at 2 PM Pacific time on the specified date.

Who are the judges?

The host of RPG Superstar™ is Designer, Sean K Reynolds. There are a variety of new judges for RPG Superstar™ 2014, and a full list of judges can be found here.

What are the judges' duties?

During the first round, the public votes on the submitted wondrous items. The judges take the 64 Open Call entries with the most votes and select 32 from that list. In subsequent rounds, the judges will critique each entry before the public vote begins.

What will the winner of RPG Superstar™ 2014 receive?

Every contestant who advances to Round 2 gets a complementary PDF of Pathfinder Campaign Setting: The Inner Sea World Guide.

The ultimate winner, as chosen by the public, earns the opportunity for a paid commission to write one of Paizo's upcoming Pathfinder Modules! In addition, the other three Finalists will earn the opportunity for a paid commission to write one of Paizo's upcoming Pathfinder Society Scenarios!

Who is eligible to enter the contest?

Because we are trying to discover new talent, anybody who has been published in the RPG industry in a significant way is not eligible to enter. If you have been employed full-time as a designer for a game company, you are not eligible. If you have received cover credit as an author of a hardcover RPG book, you are not eligible. If you have a design credit in 3 or more of Paizo's Pathfinder products, you are not eligible. If you were one of the Top 8 finalists of any previous RPG Superstar contest, you are not eligible. Paizo employees and their family members are not eligible. Everyone else is eligible to enter! You must have an account on paizo.com to enter the contest—visit secure.paizo.com/paizo/account to set up a free account.

Will I be identified to the public?

Your Open Call submission will be presented to the voters and judges anonymously. If you are selected as one of the Top 32 contestants, your full name as it is entered for your paizo.com account will be displayed along with your submissions.

How do I enter RPG Superstar™?

Write up a new and original wondrous item for use with the Pathfinder Roleplaying Core Rulebook. Then, after 2 PM Pacific time on December 10, 2013, log in to your paizo.com account, go to the RPG Superstar home page, and submit your entry. Entries must be received before 2 PM Pacific time on January 1, 2014 (though you should consider submitting earlier than the last minute, in case something delays or prevents you from submitting before the deadline).

What criteria will be used to judge the Open Call entries?

Entries are judged and voted on creativity, originality, usefulness, and adherence to the contest and Pathfinder RPG rules. Entries will be presented to the voters and judges anonymously, so do not put your name or any other personally identifying information in your entry.

Who can vote in the RPG Superstar contest?

Any person with an account on paizo.com will be able to vote for their favorite entries in every round of the competition. You must have an account on paizo.com to vote in the contest.

How do I cast my vote?

You can vote by visiting paizo.com/rpgsuperstar. During the Round 1 voting period, you will be shown two different wondrous item entries, and may pick which of the two you think is better. You can vote as often as you like. Each time you visit, you will be shown a different pair of wondrous items and neither will be one you have seen before.

In subsequent rounds, a thread containing a poll will be created in the subforum for each round.
