The End is Nigh

Friday, May 12, 2017

Happy Friday! To polish off Pathfinder Battles: Crown of Fangs set, this week we are starting with the Reclamation Squire, a medium common. This gal take putting down evil seriously. Based off of art from the Hell's Vengeance Adventure Path, the shield and chainmail detailing are awesome. It is also always nice to see a woman warrior in combat appropriate armor, with a combat appropriate haircut. Bad to the bone.

Next we have the Reclamation Knight, a medium uncommon. This miniature represents, hopefully, what your squire becomes after righting enough wrongs, and ending enough evil schemes. Love the detailing on the helmet, and the more ornate shield. This miniature is also based off of art from the Hell's Vengeance Adventure Path.

The Monstrous Skeleton is a large uncommon miniature. Because when having humanoid skeletons isn't enough, Paizo has you covered. Maul your player's characters to your heart's content with this bestial baddy, which is based off of art from the Curse of the Crimson Throne Adventure Path.

Finally, Shadowcount Sial is a medium rare miniature. This guy is a devout priest of Zon-Kuthon, one of our more cheery deities, as you can see from his joyful smile. Who wouldn't find serving The Midnight Lord a pleasure? This miniature is based off of art from the Curse of the Crimson Throne Adventure Path, and would work great as a priest, ranger, slayer, fighter, of whatever else you choose.

Ah, gotcha. I remember now. I'll need to preorder the iconic hero sets then.

Cheers, Marco.

Yup. A version of the skeleton with the burning head. Gold armor instead of silver. ^_^

If someone could take a picture of their promo mini and send it to me so that I can post it in the www.pathfinderminis.com promo galley I would be greatly appreciative.

This can be e-mailed to me at: admin (at) pathfinderminis (dot) com

Hopefully they will have some at GenCon, otherwise I will have to wait until they Paizo puts them on sale, until I get take my own photo of one.

I'll see what I can do once I get mine!

Dark Archive

With todays blog being about Starfinder, i guess we won't get a minis blog. ;-(

This is the 4th week in a row without one, so please show us some renders from "Maze of Death" next friday! :-p

Dark Archive

The "Neverwinter Twitter" account has started previewing minis from D&D ToA.
A Catfolk Rogue and a Catfolk Bard (yes really, it's playing a string instrument!) are the first two minis.

Unfortunately Wizkids couldn't comment about huge minis being in the set or not (the number of 44 minis in the set strongly suggests it), but they'll start their own previews very soon (probably next week latest).

Friday's my birthday, i wish for a Maze of Death preview. ;-)

Dark Archive

The official D&D Icons of the Realms preview gallery is up:

Tomb of Annihilation

There is only one mini picture (yet) though.

Dark Archive

After having seen 20 of the 44 minis in "Tomb of Annihilation", i´m pretty sure it has NO HUGE MINIS in it. ;-(
The only one that is huge (bordering on gargantuan), but most likely on a large base, is the "Juggernaut" construct (probably rare and the heaviest mini in the set).

The 20 revealed minis are:

:

-Aaracokra (medium) invisible variant
-Acererak/Lich (medium) invisible variant
-Four-armed Gargoyle (large)
-Juggernaut (large base with very much overhang)
-masked Goblin (small)
-human Ranger (medium)
-Raptor (small)
-Ultroloth (medium)
-Couatl (medium)
-Ras Nsi/Mummified Yuan-Ti (medium)
-Nycaloth/Nycademon (large)
-Pteranodon (large)
-Minsc and Boo (medium)
-Duodrone (medium)
-Tabaxi (Catfolk) Rogue (medium)
-Tabaxi (Catfolk) Bard (medium)
-Unknown Plant creature (large)
-Valindra Shadowmantle (medium) likely invisible variant
-Girallon (large)
-"Crabman" from the box art (medium or large)

Happy birthday, Marco.

Thank you MrVergee! :-)

As we have had a great Starfinder Blog tonight, i don´t think there will be a Pathfinder Battles Blog too. ;-(

So, here is a link to the "D&D Tomb of Annihilation" Boardgame. The last picture at the bottom right shows 23 (of the included 42) fully painted minis in the box, which should be almost identical to the ones in the blind boosters.

Just to point it out again:

Assuming the release date for "Pathfinder Battles: Maze of death" is the last wednesday of october (25th - same as the street date for the october PAIZO products), that would leave 18 weeks to show all 52 minis in the set.
While it would certainly be possible to wait another two weeks, it would be nice to see and read something new after 6 weeks of silence. ;-p

Thanks Mike and Erik!

The 20 revealed minis are:

I just thought I'd interject that I think the plant monster is called a Mancatcher. It is from the old AD&D series.

Large open petals and a pollen that induces people to lay down in the petal which than wraps around the target and begins to digest. Jungle plant and a large creature.

Dark Archive

I think i will have to backtrack a little on the "no HUGE minis in Tomb of Annihilation".

There WILL be some minis on large bases with much overhang.
One is the "Juggernaut" construct (large base, size HUGE).
Another one seems to be either an undead T-Rex or the "King of Feathers", a feathered T-Rex.

Take that with a pint of salt for now.

What´s fact is:
The masked Goblin mini is called "Batiri goblin" and the large plant-creature with the four petals are called "Mantrap".

The large Pteranodon seems to be a "Pterafolk".

Here is a list of likely minis in the set (unconfirmed, but some of them will be in the set):

-Albino Dwarf
-Almiraj (Unicorn bunny, Bestiary 4)
-Bodak
-Chwinga (small Kami)
-Dragonbait (named character)
-Flail Snail
-Froghemoth (huge on a large base)
-Jacuuli
-Kamadan (Tiger with snake tails, Bestiary 3)
-"King of Feathers" (feathered T-Rex, huge on large base)
-Monkey (flying & psychic)
-Playthings
-Skeletonkeys
-Tri Flower frond (medium plant)
-Undead T-Rex (huge on a large base)
-Vegepygmy
-Zorbo (evil Koala)

I ordered two bricks and the incentive - 7 weeks till release!

We now have a "Monodrone" in the set too.

Marco, when you say you don't think there's going to be any huge minis (or perhaps more accurately, any huge bases). Is that something you've seen confirmed officially? Or is it a prediction based on the fact you havent seen any huge previews yet?

I have seen several pictures of the actual "Juggernaut" mini, which has a large base underneath itself, that covers about half of it.

Next to it there are a "Mantrap" mini on a large base which is much smaller and the gargantuan "Treant" incentive from the D&D "Monster Menagerie" which is about the same size (it's small for a gargantuan).

I havn't seen any huge previews, but i have seen five different large minis on large bases plus the huge Juggernaut on a large base.

The set will have 44 regular minis only, of which 21 have been shown.
So far there is only one mini which could have an A & B version (same sculpt, different arms & paintjob) - the Tabaxi (catfolk).

There is no mention of base sizes anywhere, nor would any Wizkids spokesperson confirm or deny huge creatures.

The Juggernaut is much to large to fit on that large base.

There are rumors of a huge Froghemoth and a T-Rex (or two, one feathered & one undead), but that's unconfirmed.

So, if I want a Juggernaut, it should be easy to pick it out of blind boosters? :)

So far it seems like it's the most bulky/heavy mini in the set.

It will probably be hollow and not massive, but still discernable by weight.

But i guess it will be a rare, one per case mini. Hopefully i'll get one and hopefully it's not "ultra-rare".

I guee we'll know more in 33 days...

I also hope we'll get a new Pathfinder Battles Blog on friday 30th of june, the six weeks of no news are wearing down on me. ;-(

Nope, i'm always happy to answer. :-)

Besides, you paid me with all that nice dressings for a lifetime of free questions. ;-)

Cheers, Steve.
