We're mixing things up a bit! Wednesdays are the new day for organized play-related content. Check back frequently, as in the run up to Gen Con the team is putting together double blogs to deliver previews of the Starfinder Society Roleplaying Guild while maintaining all our regular Pathfinder Society content.

I took some time this weekend to recharge my gaming batteries. On Saturday, I attended a mini-con at Mox Boardinghouse in Bellevue. During the afternoon, nine tables battled through a myriad of pregenerated specials and harder scenarios such as Pathfinder Society Scenario #4-26: The Waking Rune. I got a chance to chat with local players and look in on some of their games. I left before the start of the multi-table interactive special event, Pathfinder Society Scenario #7-00: The Sky Key Solution. I hear there were several deaths, but the Society emerged victorious.

On Sunday, I GMed a table of Pathfinder Society Scenario #7-20: All for Immortality, pt. 1: First Taste of Eternity for a group of local 5 star GMs. I really like this Seeker arc, in that it pulls together the Aspis storyline into a tight package and wraps up many, but not all, of the loose ends from a Season 7. I can't wait until next weekend, where we tackle part two. Thanks to the players that made my afternoon so enjoyable!

Player Survey

One of the focuses when I stepped into the position of Organized Play Coordinator was looking at the data and seeing how it supported our decisions as a team and drove our future plans. We've done that with event support and with scenario reporting. Our next focus is on characters and seasons. We've put together a survey through Survey Monkey to gather this data for use in future decisions. As a thank you for taking time to complete our questions, John put together a thank you boon that may be applied to one of your Pathfinder Society characters.

Pathfinder Society Survey

Newest 5 Star GMs

The list of five star GMs grew again this month. Thanks to the GMs who gave of their time and energies to run 150 games for players, including 50 different scenarios and 10 special events. Kudos to the recipients for achieving this milestone and to all 5 star GMs for their time and devotion to our hobby. Without you, the Pathfinder Society would not exist.

Upcoming Conventions

Just like the tides, the number of conventions may ebb and flow, but something is always occurring somewhere. To assist in finding events near you, or ones far away you may wish to travel to, here is a list of conventions running Pathfinder Society over the two months. There are many more conventions out there, but these are the ones that requested support through the Pathfinder Society. May is pretty solid, but June's requests are still coming in, so more will add to this list. Consider dropping in and checking one out!

Convention Volunteer Update

Volunteers for PaizoCon should have received their schedules. We touched base with Organizer Mike McNerney regarding Origins schedules and he advises they are being sent asap and will arrive before event registration opens. Volunteer lead Bob Jonquet is working on the volunteer schedules for Gen Con. Look for them to arrive before the Gen Con event system goes live at the end of the month. We are adding volunteers to the Gen Con roster this week, so if you're waiting for information, please watch your inbox. No matter what the status, all Gen Con volunteers will receive some communication by weeks end.

Stopping here so I can get back to convention planning. I owe people emails!

Yay, new five stars!
(Shout out to Naren, welcome aboard, my friend!)

I'm confused. Should volunteers have received their schedules? Or are they still in the process of being sent out? Or will they be sent out before the end of the month? I'd received initial confirmation in February that I was approved, but haven't heard anything since then. Thanks.

I broke that last paragraph into bullet points, since there's 3 different con being discussed.

The survey seems to be borked in the region categories. Two of the categories are currently as follows:

Africa - East Eurasia - Belarus, Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Latvia, Netherlands, Russia, Scandinavia, and South Africa.

West Eurasia-Middle East - Belgium, Croatia, Finland, France, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Portugal, Slovenia, Spain, Turkey, Ukraine, the United Arab Emirates, and the United Kingdom.

Why is Finland in both categories?

Having just done the survey and downloaded the boon, I can't help but notice Tonya's PFS number is 007; I assume this means she has a license to TPK.

I'm noticing Prairie Con isn't up there, but we're doing PFS as well. Just wondering if the request hadn't made it through yet or not. I know the VL made arrangements.

Yes she has a license to kill, luckily she didn't get to use it this weekend.

Thanks Tonya!

Just a heads up when taking the survey: edit: never mind. Nothing to see here. Problem fixed

Spoiler:
The survey says Now just a little more info.

Please remember that in order to collect the Boon you'll need to include your Pathfinder Society Roleplaying Guild Number in the final question.

Two things:

Question 11 is, without warning, the final question. You have to pick 2 of your favorite answers and then for "other" put in your pfs number

If you don't do that, you can still download the boon.

Dark Archive 4/5

Grats to all the new 5 stars and thank you guys for the chance to give feedback and an awesome boon as thanks for doing so!

One question however, the second page at the top asks us to fill in our PFS#'s on the last question, presumably it goes in 'other' on question 11 but... it's a bit confusing knowing that as there's no indication that is the last question until you get past it, any chance you could let us know if that's the right place? :)

The survey has a problem. There's no shadow lodge. Or Lantern Lodge or Sczarni or...

I mean sure, they're not legal now, but when the character retired...

Or do you only want current characters?

I'm confused, are we supposed to be entering PFS + character numbers in the "Other" field like Big Norse Wolf suggests, or is the survey reminder just a little off? I've entered two characters but I'm going to hold off on the other 5 for the moment.

Edit: Nevermind, thanks Dan!

Whoops! That's my fault! The PFS number was from an old build of the survey. Our thinking was that we would collect the number and send the boon directly. We found a better way without needing your number with the direct download at the end of the survey.

I totally forgot about that blurb. I have removed it from the survey. You don't need to enter your number. Promise!

Sorry for the confusion.

Okay, good. I was panicking. Now, with that said, are we just on the honour system that we did six characters? Because I have over 40 and did my six, but I have no record of proving that I did.

The way the boon is written, I thought you're supposed to do 7?

Quote:
For each additional character you chronicle in the survey (maximum six), check one of the boxes that precede the boon below.

I read that as boon for the first, then 6 more to check all 6 boxes?

Because I'm sure it will come up, are these boons trade-able? I assume they're not supposed to be, but the wording just says "only earn" not "only apply".

The guy who wrote the survey says we're only supposed to submit six characters, so I'm pretty sure we know how it's supposed to be. Sure, if he has time they should probably update the wording, but it's not the end of the world if they don't.

One of my locals pointed out that the convention list is missing one small con (Origins).

Liberty's Edge 5/5

So, OK.

Suppose, hypothetically, that one takes the survey, and does it for six characters.

After one does the last character, one hits the "take me back to the beginning" button, or whatever it was, instead of the "Done" button.

The back button doesn't take me back; page has expired. So I can't get to the Done button.

Two questions:

(1) I'm guessing this is where I was going to get the boon. Does my failure to click the right button on just one page mean that I don't get the boon?

(2) If I never clicked "Done", was my data saved?

Grand Lodge 4/5

Run through the survey again and choose the done option. I just got there again myself.

Regarding that thing about 6 characters or 7 characters.....
I would say, stick to what the boon says. The boon knows all. The boon is life.
Definitely don't listen to me. I'm the new guy (I can STILL use that as an excuse). John worked hard on that boon. I'm guessing that the wording there is correct.
Also, as a quick answer to a previous question; these aren't trade-able.

BUT! I wanted to say....THANKS Y'ALL! For getting on this. We've had a huge turnout for this survey so far and that's because of this community.

If I see you a PaizoCon, I'll give you a high-five.

Don't worry, things like this happen all the time ^^. The PFS community is just very quick to respond to these offerings.. even I shared with my players via Facebook already.

Frankly, it is good that there is a limit, otherwise I might have entered all my characters wich would have taken significantly longer.
If you ever do this again, it would be nice to add a PFS number to every entry, currently if you look at my region it might look like a lot of characters are hunters and in the Dark Archive... (I currently have 5 hunters... ^^)

I enjoyed the survey and I hope that it is the first of several. I think some players and GMs might have ideas to share with leadership on how to improve Pathfinder Society. I think that we have a lot to learn from each other.

I love this boon for many reasons.

Spoiler:
I like to run several classic adventures, such as the Temple of Empyreal Enlightenment (my favorite). So, it is nice to benefit from them.

The Precious Vindication part of the boon is also welcome, although I am not sure which characters to apply it to on using it. I have seen missions go badly, sometimes due to the actions of others. ("I was right. We should have opened only one door at a time.")
